Hi all!

Planning a trip to WDW January 11-17 2003. Does anyone know of any reason it would be crowded?? Any big conventions or events? My family and I like it as slow and as less crowded as possible!

Thanks in advance!

Roy

Yes it does. I was checking out on the day of the Marathon this year, and the roads leaving Disney were all blocked up (maybe it was a "sign" I shouldn't leave). So I checked for next year's date. Don't know what the effects on the parks might be. This year the weekend before the Marathon, AKL seemed especially busy.

There may be a large convention at Coronado Springs at that time. We're going so I can run the marathon (yes, it's Sunday the 12th) and I tried to make a reservation at Coronado Springs for a standard view room for Jan 10-15. I was told that they (standard view rooms) were already all reserved - and this is more than 10 months in advance! I even called back and was told the same thing by someone else. Of course, the more expensive water view rooms were still available.

FYI: I've heard that the only real affect of the marathon is on the roads, as mentioned above, and only really in the morning. Apparently the parks are not really affected since it's not a busy time of year and since the marathon starts so early (6 a.m.).
