What is its proximity to the carriage house and the main pool? Are there any PRIME areas to book that have easy accessiblity, but still have a great view?

Stayed in the first building of the Grandstand section in Dec. and we thought that it was the best possible spot. Grandstand pool was right outside our building. It is the first bus stop. It was only a short walk to the main pool and the restaurant and the boats. Loved it, loved it, loved it!

We stayed in the same building I believe. It was right next to the Grandstand pool. (building to the right if looking back at the pool from the carriage house) We actually had a view of the pool from our room. It was a short walk to the main building and while we did not ride the buses the bus stops were very close.

Same building here too! :thumbsup2

We loved Grandstand. We thought it was the perfect location. Being the first bus stop to be picked up was a huge plus with three kids. The walk to the main pool was very short and pleasant.
The themed pool in that area was great for the kids. Very quiet so a nice break from the people at the main pool.

We loved it so much we already asked MS to note our request on our reservation for December. Yes, 11 months out..We are nuts!;)

Hello,

I agree with the previous posts... Grandstand is the place at SSR as far as my family and I are concerned. My kids absolutely loved the pool area located mere feet from our villa. Convenient yet peaceful is the best way I can describe the Grandstand area. The common areas of SSR are a short distance (3 to 5 minute walk)yet seemed like miles away as far as the "hustle and bustle" associated with the Carriage House,High Rock pool etc... are concerned.

Here are a couple of photos I took from our last trip "home" in June 07'

Great pictures! It amazes me how many negative reports people give of SSR. They must see things way differently than I do, or they eye of your camera for that matter.

I stayed in Grandstand last July. The building closest to the bus stop. It was a fantastic location. View wasn't all that great (courtyard in back of building) but we didn't sit on the porch due to the heat.

I will probably always request the Grandstand area first. The pool and hot tub are great, and finding a place to drink something is just a few steps away (the pool area has its own bar).

It is also easy to walk to the main building or catch the boat to DD. It's just the best place to be. IMHO

The Grandstand area is very nice. We stayed in this section last July with a view of the pool and loved it. We walked over to the main pool once but preferred the Grandstand pool because of its quietness and less crowded. The kids enjoyed the squirting horses too.

We walked over to the Carriage House for something to eat at least once a day and its only maybe a 2-3 min. walk. Very nice and convenient.

The bus stop was right there too.

This is the view you see when you walk to the Carriage House from the Grandstand Area.

Stayed at the Grandstands Last Labor Day weekend. Loved the location. Easy walk to the carriage house. I also walked to the Spa. We found it nice and quiet.

Terrible section, too much walking, no action right outside your door steps, heck the pool doesn't even have a slide (what are the kids going to do). If I was you, I would see if AKV had and availability at the 7 month window! :rolleyes1 http://i144.photobucket.com/albums/r197/tomandrobin/wink.gif http://i144.photobucket.com/albums/r197/tomandrobin/stud.gif ;)

That's where we requested for our NYE trip this year. Looks amazing!!! Does anyone have any more pictures?

I mean, just in case we want to stay there...the place to stay at SSR is either the Paddocks or the Carousel, right?...:rolleyes1

which section was the last to be built at SSR?

How is the pool size in the grandstand secton compared to one over at the paddock and congress park section pools?

Does anyone know if a scooter can ride across on the boat to ddd?

Thanks

Grandstand section was the last to be built.

It looks to me the pool is a little larger than Congress Park's, however Grandstand has more water features.

A scooter can fit on the boat to DTD. I can't remember if the person had to get off it and sit on the boat seat or not.

Hope this helps. :flower3:

SSR is a beautiful resort, no matter which section you stay in.
