I have a question for y'all. my family and I are trying to plan a cruise. We are thinking royal Caribbean. have any of you been on one of their cruises? i am in a wheelchair and i have the ability of a quadriplegic. what did you do? did you tender? what excursions did you do? and any other advice would be greatly appreciated.

I was just on a Royal Caribbean cruise. While I'm not in a chair and didn't have an accessible room, somebody else in our group is and did. The room was very accessible (this was on the Radiance of the Seas) - plenty of room to wheel around, the bathroom was accessible (her so-called accessible room on Carnival had a bathroom that was NOT accessible), the doors opened automatically with buttons you pressed, etc. Three adults stayed in that room (two AB).
I don't recall if she tendered or not. I don't know what excursions she did, but another person who uses a wheelchair for long distances took some tours and did a disabled horseback riding excursion (the horseback thing was in Montego Bay, Jamaica).
I don't know if I'm allowed to post the name of another board on here or not, but a good Web site and message board for learning about cruising is Cruise Critic. There is a Disabilities section on there as well as a section dedicated to Royal Caribbean and sections for each port and all. It is a very busy board, like this one, but you can get some good info. on it.
