We just got back from Disney Feb 2nd. We ate at the Cal. Grill our first night. I made the reservation so we could view the fireworks from magic kingdom. They have very good service and I must say it was the very best filet mignon I had ever had. My husband enjoyed his grilled pork tenderloin also.

It will be our first time in April. How was the fireworks view from inside the restaurant? Is it better to go outside?

We ate there Feb 6 - We watched the fireworks from the observation deck - the very end - and it was fabulous.
I'm not sure how well you can see it from inside - I did notice that while you have a gorgeous view of the castle from inside (if you are seated at a window seat on that side) the fireworks are not directly behind the castle from that angle - they were back and to the right quite a bit. That is why I would recommend the end of the deck.
There are a lot of tables where you would not be able to see it from inside. Someone who watched from inside could probably tell you better.
We had perfect weather and thought the fireworks were well worth it - our ADR was at 7:40 - we were seated after the fireworks show (8:15?)

I'd love to know if there are chairs on the observation deck, or is it standing only? Does the staff at CG notify the guests when Wishes start (right before?)

I don't recall seeing chairs (but it was dark and there were already a lot of people there when we figured out there was an observation deck - we still got a good spot though). The wall was pretty tall - I'm not sure you could have seen everything if you were in a chair but I could be wrong.
I didn't hear them announce it, but everyone was heading for the deck at 8 and we just followed them out. We were just waiting in the reception area at that time, but they may have said something to the people already seated.

There is a speaker set upin the rest.to let you know. The sitting is near the bar of the rest. It was pretty full if you have reservations they will put you in your seat. We asked to be close to the fireworks, our travel agent made our reservations for us. If you do not have a seat you can stand by the window.

we had window seats in November and the view was amazing. they dim the lights in the room, pump in the sound and it is magical. we went out to the observation table prior to our seating and it was COLD up there. try for a window seat...beg if you have to.:)

Noticed on the menu that it was prepared with some type of sauce...Very anxious to dine there, but more picky teenager would probably like it "more plain"...Anyone know if they are flexible in preparation? Sounds delic though.Thnx.

I had the filet - and it was awesome. I'm a very picky eater myself (liking "plain" foods in general) and the sauce was pretty tame - nothing way out there. I am sure they would serve it without it. Hope you enjoy!

Thanks for the review. CG is our favorite place to eat at WDW.
