Wow. That seems so fast. I remember last year I didn't sign up until after the Minnie Weekend -- or maybe it was right before it. Well, I've sent in my registration. I hope I receive confirmation soon. They do send confirmation right?

At the rate of 10% a week(like last week), it will be filled in less than 3 weeks.
Amazing it might be filled by early March. It took until 6/1 for the 08.
I guess that $15 increase on 3/1 is driving everyone to signup now:eek:

Eva - did you mail your application in? If so than I think they mail you a confirmation. If you signed up online then you don't get a mailed confirmation. At least that is what I was told. I am sure yours will be counted.

I guess I need to get my rear in gear and decide if I'm going to do the half at WDW next Jan. Decisions, decisions. I really want to but I also want to do the Rock 'n Roll half in Phoenix the next week. Can't do both...unless I win the lottery. :teeth:

I mailed the application off at the end of January -- either 30 or 31. I'm only 90 miles from there, so I know it should've gotten there on time. Guess we'll see.

Stacie - SOme of the travel companies will still have openings where if you book your trip through tehm you can get a slot. The charities will too, but that's a lot of fundraising money. So, it won't be hopeless when it closes.

You and me both! I just got back from the doctor's and learned that I have "runner's knee." The only real treatment is rest. But by the time I rest that long, the race will be full! And the thing is, I've never done any running before! Just an occasional jog on the treadmill. So doing the half marathon would be a first for me. I don't know what to do!

You're right! What am I thinking? ;)
postesf and MaryJ - I rarely did any exercising until 6 months before the '07 half....let alone run. I started exercising in Aug. '06 and started training that October. Following a good training plan, you can do it...barring any major health issues. :cheer2:

With panic registration starting, I wouldn't wait more than a couple of weeks if you want in.
As mentioned Anthony Travel and Marathon Tours offer packages with race reg but require a 3 night stay at one of selected Disney Resorts.

Oh Dear!
I have two applications sitting here to mail. Do I dare mail them or should I just suck it up and pay on line?
UPDATE!
I decided to join the "panic registration" I did it on line! Hope I got Randy's time in right... (But I think I have read we can fix it when we get to the Expo)

Susie--thanks for the encouragement.
Carrie--thanks for the FYI on the Travel companies. I didn't know that. I thought you had to register first. Didn't know you could register through them.
I did mention it to DH to see what he thought...Told him to think about it. I guess we'll see what happens...

Will they continue to post updates as space continues to fill (ie. 85%, 95%)? I'm trying to push DFi to register but he's still on the fence. At the same time, I don't want to register him and then take up a space unnecessarily and lose the registration fee as well.

Well, I took a leap of faith and registered today. In the past, I've not been very good at keeping up with any PT exercises that I've been given, but now I have a goal! I've all ready done the exercises twice today and will keep it up until I'm ready to really start training.

Good for you. I think you will HAVE to work out now. When I was in the dead of summer last year, I hated going to the track to practice and my mantra was if I didn't have this darn 1/2 marathon I would NOT be here sweating! So what did I do, sign up for the 2009 1/2 marathon. Yup I know me, and it's the only way I'll keep in shape.
Good for you!

I want to do this so badly, but we already have several trips planned this year. I was hoping to have until after the Minnie to make a decision.
Arrrghh! Maybe I'll sign up and just hope I can work it out. I hate the thought of losing my entry fee if I can't make it, but I think I hate the thought of being able to work it out and then be too late to enter even more.

I'm with you. I hope it slows down after the Feb 29 deadline for the lower price. I haven't even run my first race yet (Minnie 15k) and I've only just hit the 4 mile mark in my training, so it's hard to imagine signing up for a half. But it is SOOOOO tempting. Hope they post it when it gets to 95%--then I'll feel compelled to register.

The race has increased 10% each of the last 2 weeks and will only fill faster with "panic registration" and the increase in fee in 11 days. I figure for sure it will fill no later than 2/29. I think it might even fill before than.
If you want in don't wait or you will be sorry:sad2:

I'm in the same position as you. The Minnie will be my first race. I have walked for years, just not in a 'training' mode. I've worked up to 7 miles, so I'm pretty confident about finishing the Minnie. No speed records, just finishing.
Nancy, where do you check to see how full the half is?

Right were you go to register, I click on Robert's website and from there you can go to register and it has it posted. If you are doing 7 miles already you should be in great shape by the Minnie and the half.

I just put the code for one pic right next to the first one -- even if it meant the code wrapped onto the next line. Hope that makes sense. I, of course, don't have a ticker, so I don't know if that affects it or not.
