Wilderness Lodge Photo Thread- Please feed my addiction!!

I have been to all the sites available & seen tons of photos of Wilderness Lodge, inside & out, but I still can't get enough. :surfweb:
I am obsessed!! My son (age 12) & I will be finally staying at our dream resort this year from 11-30 to 12-7-08. We have always stayed at Pop Century, Caribbean Beach, or the All Star Music/Movies Resort. I have always DREAMED of staying at the Wilderness Lodge & when my dad passed away a few years ago (only 56 years of age), I figured that life is way too short & I have decided to "splurge" this year & go for it. This is not easy for a single mom on a budget, but I know this is probably the most beautiful resort during Christmas time, my favorite time of the year!:santa: I have looked at all the photos on the All Ears Net, the photos on the threads on the DIS boards, but I just can't get enough, so I thought I would start a thread for just Wilderness Lodge Photos- all of the resort. I want room photos, bathroom photos, refrigerator photos, shower photos, pool photos, Whispering Canyon photos, etc......

:woohoo: I just returned from WDW the end of Jan. I didn't stay at this resort, but had the plesure of touring it. I am returning to WDW in 2013, for the 20th anniversary of the marathon, and plan to spend at least 4 nights there. What a beautiful and charming resort.

No, I have never seen it in person. My son & I go once a year & have always stayed at the value resorts & are always so busy going "commando" style thru the parks, that we have not taken the time to enjoy & tour this resort. But now my son is older & we want to enjoy the beach, the little boats you can rent (2 seaters), & just sit back & relax on the boat ride to the Magic Kingdom. We have looked at all the sites out there with photos, Trip Advisor, All Ears, ....... We are both just so excited, we can't sit still. And best of all, we get to soak it all in during the Christmas decorations/holidays. We arrive 11/30 thru 12/07/08. Please share any photos you may have, inside, outside, room photos, bathroom,...... We will take anything. :santa:

Thank you both for the great photos. I love the beach photo & the photos of the beds. I always love the room photos- the beds, refrigerator, bathroom--- the place where your head will be sleeping to enjoy it all the next morning!:yay:

If anyone ever needs photos for Pop Century, I have tons of those uploaded under a Pop Thread. I promise when we return home to Texas on 12/08/08, I will return the gracious replies I have received with plenty of photos of my own. There is a sleigh ride too??? We are going Dec. 7-Dec. 13 and have a bunkbed courtyard view at the WL. It will be my 6 year olds first trip to Disney. I am just loving the Christmas pic's!!! Does anybody have more? I can't wait to get there!!!!!

You're gonna love it. Wilderness Lodge is my favorite resort. This thread is kind of making me sad. We're doing a split stay between WL and AKL in July. Kind of wish we were staying at WL the whole time.:sad1:

I love this resort & picture thread! Can't wait to see more photos.

It's funny, I live in the Northwest & also have a cabin in Alaska. But we still love this resort. We are staying there this fall. I was nervous at first about feeling like I was staying in something too similar to home, but it's Disney & the pictures prove that this is an amazing resort.

No problem and yes that was an armadillo you saw. My brothers stepped out onto the balcony when we first got to the room, looked down and that is the first thing they saw. They were beyond excited as we don't really see armadillo's up here. ;)

Does anyone have pics of the bunkbed rooms? We booked them for Dec 6-13, 2008.

Yes, I have seen TONS of the bunkbed photos on the TripAdvisor site. When you key in Disney's Wilderness Lodge, click on the link that states "Traveler Photos", many people have shared bunk bed photos on that site.

But you can't get any better photos than our fellow DIS'ers. :cloud9:

Disneyworld in December is the best. I stayed at the BC/YC this past December and kicked myself in the pants when I walked into the Wilderness Lodge. I was originally booked for the WL and then changed resorts bc I got a great discount. Boo on me!! ;) Though there are some nice pictures here, none of them do justice to the resort itself. It is amazing.

No problem! I'm just so excited to know I'm not alone in my crazed obsession. I'm starting to sound like Charlie Brown's teacher to my friends at work. (Bla Bla Bla Bla) No one wants to hear me open my mouth because they know the next words are Disney, Mickey or WL. :laughing: DIS has helped me plan some amazing memories. Room 1017 ~ at first I was bummed to be on the ground floor (which they switched us from a smoking room to this one) but then we realized how convenient it was to the boat dock and laundry and Roaring Forks and the pool ~ right out our patio! I would actually request this room in the future!

Another Diser in love with the WL! I'll be going back for the third time in April. I don't use a digital camera so can't add any pictures...sorry. Fun fact about the Bear Face Rooms and DizneyNuts and Goinagain photo's from Christmas shows the new twist.

The Cast Members arranged the garland (that is only used at Christmas) on the outside balcony on the 4th floor to give the Bear Face teeth.

For those that are new to the Lodge I'm posting this information from my post over on the Wilderness Lodge FAQ Thread.

Another piece of trivia from the Vets of Wilderness Lodge.

The Courtyard View rooms that are just off the Lobby are called the "Bear Face Rooms" because of a pattern (WARNING: Imagination is required to see The Bear) that forms the face of a bear, when approching or viewing the Lodge from Bay Lake.

In the photo below look toward the center of the roof just under the Flags. The two small triangular shape windows at the top of the building begins our short flight of fantasy. Now I think these two small windows are the eyes with the large gable forming the nose with the large balcony under the gable forming the mouth. Others see the the top two triangular windows as the ears with the two rectangular windows located to each side of the gable to be the eyes. Either way once you see the face you will be able to see the Bear each time you see the photo or the real deal.

OK OK Now I am really interested in WL! Our next WDW is next year(June 2009). I was thinking about value because my DS wanted to spend one day at Universal so I thought OK then maybe we should stay value(ASMusic). We do stay about 8 days on a WDW trip. But I am not too excited about Universal so maybe to make up for it we will stay at WL so I know after a long day at Universal I can have the evening to relax at WL. Seeing these pictures has me sooo excited for my trip coming up in May! We stayed at the WL in 1995 and although we have stayed in different resorts since then it has remained a favorite. I just booked for the WL today. I have jumped from one resort to another trying to find the right fit for my trip in September. These photos helped. I have only stay at one on property site and that was the Coronado Springs in 2001. I am going on my trip with all of my kids and no husband. Is the transportation crowded?

I also have a video of the pool if anyone is interested - its here (http://youtube.com/watch?v=eXRQzNOzqOE) to answer someones question about transportation -- check out what people have to say at the Wilderness Lodge FAQ thread, because I was only there in September -- really low crowds, so for me, transportation was a non-issue, (except for a few select times) but i'm not sure if thats the case year-round

Hi. I'm going the exact same dates as you are. It was a toss up between that and saving $1,100 to stay at the Coronado. I hope it is worth it. None of us have been to disney world. We have two girls 4 and 7. I hope the crowd is light after people leave on sunday.

Not dumb at all. You get to go up with a Disney CM in the morning (around 9:00ish I believe) to the very top of the Wilderness Lodge and assist with the raising of the flags. Then they allow you the opportunity to snap of few Special photos from up there. I have seen a couple of them on here in the past. Nice View from up there!:cool1:

Room 1017 ~ at first I was bummed to be on the ground floor (which they switched us from a smoking room to this one) but then we realized how convenient it was to the boat dock and laundry and Roaring Forks and the pool ~ right out our patio! I would actually request this room in the future!

Thank you so much for sharing those amazing photo's! Since you make reference to being conveniently located to the boat dock - were you able to use the patio door to enter and exit (and most importantly lock) your room or did you need to use the inside corridors? I've always wondered about this. It seems so convenient if that is the case.

We had planned to stay here in Sept, but i wanted to bring my sister. Which means 3 adults and 3 kids. So that leaves WL out the question. So i went from PORS, but the trundle looks horribly uncomfortable, then to POP with 2 rooms, (still thinking of WL) then to ASMu for the Family Suite (i really don't want to stay there!!) then to Fort Wilderness. OK so i was JUST about to book FW and my sister calls. She can't go. Now...for the first few min i felt :sad1: Then after i got off the phone i felt :woohoo: OK Ok i did feel a LITTLE guilty but HEY! We are headng to WL!!! Whoooo :yay: :banana:

Yes, I have reviewed the DIS Boards & my budget, but it just seems with the cost of the annual dues, it is a bit expensive. If you did not have the annual dues cost, it would seem to be more manageable. Oh, maybe someday when I can go more than once a year, it would be more cost effective & within my budget someday. I can always wish !!!:santa: :santa: :santa:

Just wanted tp say thanks for the artwork for the envelopes. It looks really good. We will be their June 1-7 for our familie's first Disney trip and I am really starting to get excited. The WL just goes hand in hand with Christmas decorations, esp. a giant Christmas Tree in the center of all that Lodge Poles, Wood flooring, Water Spring bubbling up, fireplace and music. It's cozy to fill up your mug with coffee or hot chocolate and just kick up your heels and relax.:thumbsup2

It is just the code that says you have a magic your way pkg + dining.
I'm afraid it has nothing to do where you will located inside the Lodge itself. They won't figure that out until a little bit closer to your arrival.

Get a copy of Bryan Petersons " Understanding Exposure" That turned on the lightbulb for me.:thumbsup2 Shoot in raw and get a Photoshopping software to edit your photos.

I love the pics that everyone has on here. I'm thinking about WL for our next trip, but don't know if I can afford the courtyard view. I saw a few pics of the woods views, but most were from concierge rooms/DVC rooms. Does anyone else have woods view pics? I couldn't even find any on allearsnet :confused3

Well DH and I have been talking about which resort we would like this year. We normally stay at a value resort. We decided that since it is going to be a family trip (no extended family coming) we are going to splurge and stay at WL.

Looking through the photos I am glad we are going to stay this year.
