Please if anyone has shots of the King rooms?????? I'm so curious......
We stayed in a King bed room on our honeymoon in Jan 07. Here are the shots I could find. For some reason, I couldn't find any of the side of the room with the bed itself.
Our Door:

One side of the room (On the right of this would have been the king bed and a small bedside table by the windows. On the other side of the bed was the fridge/table):

The sink (with a bit of the shower on the right):

The rest of the bathroom:

Sorry I don't have a pic of the bed itself!!

Make sure, upon check-in, that you ask to be a Flag Family. I'll tryo to upload some in a bit.
What does it mean to be a flag family? I never heard that term used.

Your family is invited to go up on the roof of the WL for the flag raising ceremony. Then you can take a few pictures from that awesome view.:cool1:

Kimberly was your room an ADA room or a regular King? I'm not trying to be snooty but I'd rather not have an ADA room. I really wish I could afford that honeymoon suite someone posted pics of an another site! *sigh*

It was an ADA room. We booked a woods view and requested a king bed if possible. That's what we ended up with.

I've heard this is sorta common with King bed requests and we made reservations for a woods view and a king request as well..But I've also heard that if you aren't happy with the shower instead of a tub, that if you ask nicely, and they have room, they may move you.

I love this thread!! I've been looking at it daily to feed my WL addiction. We have a trip in December 7-14th, and we were originally booked in a MK view room at the Poly. I kept finding pictures of the WL at Christmas time. The more time kept ticking off my trip countdown, the more I was having to convince myself that I would be as happy at the Poly that I would have been at the WL. Finally I realized that going to WDW at Christmas time and not staying at the WL would be like someone putting a slice of Godiva chocolate cheescake in front of me and just letting me look at it, but not eat it. I made the change a couple of day ago and was able to get a courtyard view with bunk beds. Last night I was showing my sister pictures of the WL and telling her about the rooms with the bunk beds. My DS9 walked up and said "yeah I'm just not lucky enough for us to get a room with bunk beds." I told him that maybe if he is really good this summer and during school, that Mickey will suprise him with bunk beds. I have not told my DS's about the change in resorts. I can't wait until we get to our room at the WL and they see the bunk beds.

Thanks! We've been DVCers since 2000; our home resort in the Boardwalk and I will admit that we have become quite the BW snobs - it's the only place we've stayed over the past eight years. Decided to mix things up a bit with this trip with my daughter. I want to teach her that change is good!:thumbsup2

Although many on these boards will shake their heads that you gave up being "On The Monorail" for the WL, we say you made the right choice.:cool1: Especially for the time of the season you are going! The Christmas decorations and music just blend with the wood lodge theming, complete with fireplaces.:thumbsup2 We will be there the week before you, but here's wishing you all the most magical experience!pixiedust: pixiedust: pixiedust:

:offtopic: Off topic, but WL question: Does anyone know the pool hours?
This is a brilliant site for WL info http://www.disboards.com/showthread.php?t=1710310
I found this info there:
Silver Creek Springs Pool and spas are open 24 hours (weather and maintenance permitting; please respect quiet hours 12AM - 7PM) Lifeguard on duty 9:00a.m.-10:00p.m.
Note* If No Lifeguard is on duty the slide will be closed but you can use the pool.
One quiet pool located at Villas, Hidden Springs Pool (No lifeguard on duty)
Kiddie pool
Three Jacuzzis (one Hot one Cold are located next to Silver Creek Springs Pool, one Hot at Villas next to Hidden Springs Pool)

Thank you and I hope that your trip is practically perfect in every way. pixiedust: I'm sure there may be some that may think I'm crazy. They just don't realize the greatness that is the WL. If we were going for our wedding anniversary, I may not have made the change. To me, the WL is just the place to be for Christmas time. I already have some Keelex's bought b/c I know when we walk into the lobby for the first time, the water works will start.

Sorry but this maybe the reason you didn't see any otters...the photo is of a GATOR, that was in the otter pond. I'm sure Disney has relocated him/her by now.
Yes, that was a gator!:scared1: It was in the pond, right outside our first floor room all week. It was so funny because my 6 year old daughter came in the room, telling me about seeing a gator and I did not believe her. When she told the front desk, they were very surprised and I am sure they were going to have it removed.

Can someone please post a picture of a regular King room? I've seen the ADA bathrooms and such but I'm trying to get a feel for the regular rooms. That is what we requested for our anniversary and the CM said it would be no problem but uh.....we'll see! lol I just really want to see lay out and such. Thanks so much!

Looks like you were just off the walkway between the main lodge and the villas lobby. Did you notice much extra noise due to being near the walkway? I have wondered how it was for those persons who were assigned there? Now I know someone who can speak from experience:cool1: Glad you had a great trip. Thanks for sharing the wonderful photos. You know, I was really worried about that too when I saw our room location - I'm a VERY light sleeper! But I can honestly say it didn't bother us at all! We didn't get back to our room until midnight most nights; but usually didn't get up until 8ish in the am - was never woken up by noise outside. And it was GREAT having such a short walk to the bus stops and main lobby. Our room # was 1510 - right across from the guest laundry and two doors away from one of those special side exits doors that you can only open with a room key after 11pm. Both DD and I commented on how quiet it always seemed to be!

That sounds great:cool1: Our last trip was at the very far end on the front side and we had construction workers with saws outside, but like you it really was not an issue due to the amount of time spent outside the room. Would have been an issue for someone with little ones I am sure however. Glad you had a wonderful stay:thumbsup2

I just like to be able to sleep in on the occassional morning when I need to. It's those days that I really don't want to be hearing kids running and screaming down the hallways at 7 a.m - fortunately it was never a problem here. Very quiet!

Hello! I have been drooling over this thread for the past couple of days. I don't have any current plans to stay at WL but last summer we did eat at WCC! We took the boat over from MK! :goodvibes

What I found really nice about being at the WL this time of year......it feels much cooler there than the rest of the parks. It was boiling hot last week; but the WL, being on the water and surrounded by all those trees, provided a wonderful break from the heat.

Here is the Yellowstone Suite from our christmas vacation...
The room is located down the right hall from concierge at the end in a nook. The sign is the only indication of what is inside.
http://img370.imageshack.us/img370/4701/img18890qb.jpg
This is the front door to the room and the nook.
http://img302.imageshack.us/img302/7779/img18901es.jpg
The front door opens into a foyer with a reall cool floor to ceiling window looking onto the upper portion of the courtyard. The blinds are cool. The woodwork is awesome!
http://img302.imageshack.us/img302/2528/img18919pd.jpg
To the right is a closet that has all of the regular items, iron, board, hangers, luggage racks, blankets, pillows, etc.
http://img101.imageshack.us/img101/3671/img18921ud.jpg
To the left is the additional room making this a 2 bedroom. This is additional $$ to have the connector. We like to have it just for the size and for the kids to sleep.

To the right is the hall to the living area. It has a nice table and decorations on the left and a single bathroom on the right.

The living area from the hall as you enter. This room is the best because it has a corner window overlooking Bay lake and the pool/courtyard.

To the left of the entrance to the living area is an office. Surpisingly I was able to get some work done!! The office has great lighted shelving and a great view onto the courtyard.

I am having some serious health issues and have told myself when I have dealt with them and can travel I will book us for another week at the Lodge. For those of you who have not stayed there, it is Heaven on Earth. It is my most favorite place.

I totally agree with the statement in red. I love the WL so much that I changed the ressie for our upcoming trip from a MK view room at the Poly to the WL. I just couldn't imagine being at WDW at Christmas time and not being at the WL. I know some will think that I am crazy, but let them think that. If they think that it's just b/c they don't understand the greatness that is the WL.
Thanks to everyone for the amazing pictures!! It has really made the wait a lot easier.

These pictures get me more & more depressed...Thanks ;)
Lou-Ann
07-21-2008, 01:22 AM
Do not get depressed. Find a way to share our love of the Lodge slowly. For years my hubby and I would visit the Lodge for dinner and linger on the porch or in the lobby and dream. We started saving for a special day when we could actually go up to a room there. Your day will come. Start giving up a Starbucks or something that you do not need. Start a Christmas club for your trip. Make one night a week hot dogs and beans with a picture of the LOdge as the centerpiece. Get Netflix instead of paying at the theatre for a yr. I don't mean it to sound preachy at all, just giving ideas that could help make your stay be there and not at a value. Plan to go when it is a lower priced season and perhaps do it for two nights with the rest being elsewhere. I know your dreams will come true. It is so worth the sacrifice. :goodvibes

Thanks for the uplifiting speech :)
I'm really not depressed though (probably the wrong choice of words). I just really, really, really wanna stay there. Also, your plan for 2 nights sounds good, but I don't know if just 2 nights would please me. I feel there is so much to see, and such little time I would be spending there. I'm still kind of young (26 to be exact), and I still spend most of my time in the parks. I'm really only at the hotel to sleep & to eat. Maybe I can wait a few years when I am not as active, and can spend more time :confused3

LOL. I won't feel that bad if you are only 26. DH and I never got to afford it til 50. You really need to get all your park stuff done in 3 or 4 days and then spend two days at the Lodge not leaving, just enjoying the beauty and the serenity of it all. Go to the Villas and see Walt's trains from his home. Take the Lodge tour. Use the pool. Take a boat ride to the Contemporary and back seeing it from the lake. Be the flag family and climb to the top of the building. We have spent 48 hrs never leaving the Lodge. That way we get our money's worth when we are there. Get the parks out of your system first and then recouperate at the Lodge. H:goodvibes ave fun......

Sounds like a good idea. But...
Even though I am 26, I am still hugely addicted to the parks lol. I can't just visit them once. I have to go back to each atleast twice if possible. Again, I suppose I will have to wait a few more years. Perhaps when my mindset changes, and I can tell myself to forget the parks and just relax lol.

ITA!! We so much enjoyed our afternoons at the Lodge barside/poolside!! The ambiance was incredible!! Sitting at the pool, looking at the grandeur (sp?) of it all was just amazing!!! We did not know about the trains!!! I wish we did - we would have gone to see them for sure! DSs ar HUGE train buffs!! Thomas was on the tracks behind our house this weeekend and DS1 was so psyched!!! Grand Uncles & Greatgrandfathers on both sides of our family worked on the B&M for years and years!! Anyway - I am rambling... My point being that DH was a comando style WDW guy - Me - not so much! We compromised.... a couple of days or mornings of Comando Style Park-ing and a few evenings and Afternoons lounging by the pool!! Some of the best moments of our trip!!

Hi!:goodvibes - I am considering booking a Christmas time stay here as from all reports it's THE place to be at that time of year!! :) And all your photos look great!!:thumbsup2 :thumbsup2
We are thinking of a split stay with the Poly as we love it there and just wondered whether after staying at the Poly, if you thought we would feel like the WL is a bit far away from MK???
When we go our boys will be 6 and 3, and I was wondering how far away it REALLY is from the MK - is the boat trip very long?? Or does it feel as easy as the monorail to the poly does???:confused3
thanks for any info/advice!!:thumbsup2 :thumbsup2

07-21-2008, 10:14 AM
It is a very short boat trip. The bus is quick too. I would not worry about being far away as you are not. 10-15 min perhaps depending on when the bus/boat leaves. As you exit the park just walk to the right and get in line for the boat. Very easy to do.
For the family that is into trains......There is also a lovely train tour done two days a week. it happens before the park opens. You get the history of Walt's train in his yard, the trains in the park, get to ride to the round house, see where they are maintained and get to help switch the tracks and toot the horn. It is neat. We have done it twice....

Yes, all tours are pay tours but this one is the cheapest of all and yet very interesting. It lasts about 1 1/2 hrs, perhaps two. It starts, as I said, before the park opens. You make a reservation and they tell you where to meet ahead of time and then they come and get you to enter the park while everyone else is standing there waiting to go in. It is kind of neat as you can feel them looking at you and wondering why these folks are special and getting in and they are not...

All I can say is, WOW! My DF and I are getting married at WDW soon, and we booked the Wl for us and our families for a week....I have been going back and forth on the WL, deciding if it will be a good "honeymoon" spot as we normally stay @ the poly. These pics have set my mind to rest:goodvibes . The place looks groegous:lovestruc ! The pics Disney has published doesn't do it justice at all. Now...to find more pics of WCC where our reception will be......Thanks for all the pics posts!!!!!!!

All I can say is you are one lucky gal. I cannot imagine a better place for fun at a reception or a more romantic place to start your marriage. I wish you all the joy and happiness my DH and I have. Our 30th Anniversary is 8/1. I wish we could celebrate it at the Lodge. To us it is Heaven on Earth........ENJOY every minute. I know you will.

All the photo's are great. Thanks for sharing. I wish I could afford to stay there. I am definately going to have to stop by for a visit. When I was younger and used to go with my family, we would always save the first day, (since we drove and got there late) for visits to the other hotels. I have seen a lot of them, so now its time to see more of the newer ones. Thanks again for the great shots and sharing.

eta: Sorry, I realized that isn't really a WL kind of question (the purpose of this thread). We are going on our first WDW vacation this year - staying at the WL, so was enjoying the pics. That was a great shot of the water falls. I like the angle.:goodvibes
I thought we were the only ones who dragged around tripods at VWL and various other Disney locations! We just broke down and got a sturdier one. We bought a new camera a few years back that is way too heavy for our old one. I hate it when the picture blurrs! We will be at OKW this Sept and hope to get some night shots there. Low light pictures, our favorite.

I definitely like to bring the tripod around the resorts and into the parks too - but I pick a day or two to do it - don't want to carry it around all the time! But I agree - low light pictures are awesome, and Disney is an especially scenic place to take them.
It's easier in the winter when it's cooler to carry around the full camera bag and tripod - this past trip last week, I mostly left the tripod in the room because it was just too hot and muggy to carry it around - I didn't do many night shots either. But December and January, I take tons of night shots!
Also...sometimes I rent a locker and put the tripod in it with my bag - if I know I'll be at parks all day but don't want to carry around all the kit. I can take handhelds and snaps during the day, ride the rides, and enjoy...then at night, go to the locker, pull out the tripod and the low light lens, and do some night shots.
Muushka
08-08-2008, 10:49 AM
That is a good idea renting the locker. I think we might do that in Jan when we stay at VWL. We love to stay up really late while at the lodge and take pictures when there is no body around, same for the parks. So peaceful.....Thanks for the tip!

You aren't really chosen. Upon check-in, just ask if you can be flag family. They have a book and if they have any openings while you're there, they'll put your name in the book. You also get a certificate that you were Flag Family.

TINKERBELLFAN50265

WCC is one of our favorite restaurants. Each time you go it will be different. It depends on your waiter/waitress, and the guests themselves. We had trouble getting the attention of our waitress because she was with another table and ended up banning one of them to the corner, then to outside the restaurant. At WCC, it's really better the more crowded it is. Some of the castmembers tell corny jokes, others will take your camera and go around the room taking pictures of strangers. Don't go there if you're wanting a quiet dinner. For those of you that haven't been there before, it's only like this at dinner. It's much quieter for lunch. They do have a fabulous burger at lunch. Best I've ever had.

Last FAll the routes were changed. The Red Flag Launch goes from the WL to the Magic Kingdom. The Blue Flag goes between WL / Ft. Wilderness / and the Contemporary. The Blue Flag usually circles one way in the morning and reverses in the afternoon. Can't help with Concierge either.

The boat to MK is probably 10 minutes or under. It's a slow, relaxing cruise, but it's quite close, so it doesn't take long.
The only thing that would add to your time would be if you have to wait for the boat to arrive...if it happens to get there or be there as you walk up, it'll be fast - but you might wait 20 minutes or so for the boat to arrive.
Then again, the same thing holds true for the bus!

Would you be better off to take any launch that comes and take the monorail from the contemporary?

Hey Tinkerbell, thank you sooooooo much for remembering to post your photos when you returned. I loved all your "not typical" photos of the food, the buffet, & the hats.
I loved the photo of all the butter that your waitress brought your daughter for just one cob of corn, OH MY !!!! Too funny!!!:rotfl:
I will be sure to return the favor !!!
Keep the photos coming fellow Dis Members, I still have quite an addiction to feed !!!:santa: :santa: :santa:
