Oh good! I was worried there would only be pine trees in keeping with the wilderness theme. I see enough of those at home.

If no one would object, I would like to keep this thread strictly for Wilderness Lodge Photos. :lovestruc
We have many threads started for the parks, other resorts, & Downtown Disney, I just thought this would be a GREAT thread for only WL photos, hope everyone agrees. :santa: :santa: :santa:

Keep them coming, I will go crazy with photos when we get back from our

Not of any importance though.:sad2: Anyhow this is a flight of stairs between the pool and the back door of the lobby. Or you can walk inside the lodge near the bottom of these stairs and walk up a sloped floor on the inside for anyone not good with stairs.:thumbsup2

We felt the same way, but this year we said WHY NOT! We normally stay at a value when we go ( twice before ) but since we only go every 2 years we decided to splurge a lil! I LOVE the look of the hotel, my sister has a house that reminds me of the hotel. 2 story log cabin sitting on a hill, on 56 acres in Mississippi...Oh with a view of her own lake..GEEZE!!!!
This is going to be our last DW trip for awhile because DH and myself are going on a Cruise in 2010, sadly it's not a Disney cruise..ONE DAY THO!!!
Please keep the pictures coming! And don't forget Samantha Brown on Travel Channel, SHE IS IN DISNEY! A new show!!!

I am so glad I found this thread. Our last trip in December 2006 was a 20th anniversary trip - was just going to be the two of us but I felt guilty and our girls and 2 friends came along. Needless to say we stayed at ASMu. We had one evening to ourselves which my DH arranged for me as a surprise. We had hot cocoa and cookies delivered by room service to one of the little fireplace spots on the 4th floor and then went for a sleigh ride. It was so beautiful. So when we started planning our next trip I had to bring up staying at WL. and  we are!!

So thanks for all the pictures and for starting this thread.

Hi all! New to this board and I appreciate all the info from reading the threads.

I just got talked into at reservation at WL 12/2-12/6 in a Deluxe Club room. CM told me it was a great deal at $2497.52 for 4 nights no tickets or dining (includes tax). This works out to $624.38 per night. She said this was using a AAA discount. We have 4 adults and 2 babies in party. Doesn't that seem like more then it should be even without a AAA discount? The rate charts show the Deluxe Club room rate to be $505 per night so even adding tax (and I assume an extra adult charge for my 2 children over 17 yrs) it still doesn't sound like a good deal. Or am I missing something?

I could have booked 2 Courtyard View rooms for $2103.76/4 nights or $525.94/night with the AAA discount.

At the time she made it sound like such a great deal to have a Concierge room but would we better off in the 2 courtyard rooms saving $100/night and adding a second bathroom?

I would really appreciate any input or ideas. Thank you in advance!

DizneyNutz

WOW---not sure what your accomodation goals here are, but that sounds like a TREMENDOUS amt of $$ for four nights...I couldn't imagine paying this kind of money, conceirge, or not!!!!!!

Honestly, I would either do the courtyard views (two bathrooms would be a bonus) or check out the rent/trade boards for a DVC Member who might have a two bedroom for rent!!! That would give you a kitchen, spa tub, washer and dryer and I believe TWO bathrooms...good luck!!

04-12-2008, 08:42 PM
I definitely think that you should talk to someone about renting DVC for that kind of money. Last year we rented points for a 2 bedroom at OKW in June. It was awesome and no where close to that much money.

If you are interested, we rented from a FANTASTIC guy named Bill Randle. He does this for a living, so he can book you anywhere at anytime you want. His e-mail is billagio11 @ gmail.com or bill.knows.disney @ gmail.com.

Pixie dust to you!

The deluxe rooms for your dates are $505.00 a night if they are charging $25.00 a night for 2 additional adults the total with tax (I rounded tax to 12%) should be around $2486.40. So no I don't think you recieved a good deal. I don't see any discount in your total.

$505.00 X 4=$2020.00
2 additional adults $50.00 X 2= $200.00
Tax @ 12% =$266.40

Thank you so much for responding to my post. After I got off the phone with the reservation center I was pretty sure that was way too much money!

I am going to call back and see what I can do to change my reservation. Again thanks for the info and suggestions.

I am going next year in May but am going to get a quote for this year to see if it is possible! Keep your fingers crossed for me! We are planning on doing the dining plan so that has to be included in the $4000. Can you tell I really want to stay here?

We are staying in the Jr. Suite concierge level (all they had available) in June. We have a courtyard view requested. I have never stayed here, has anyone else ever stayed in this room? Can you send some pictures and/or information on the layout of this room? If you have done concierge please include that, too. This looks like the right thread to ask for some help, so thanks in advance! I will have to admit, before I started looking at the photos on this thread, I was not even remotely interested in staying here, and now I can't wait to get there! I'm very excited for the mom who started this thread, I can totally relate, since I was in her shoes not too very long ago. Work hard and stay positive and get everything out of life for you and your children yourself. You're right, life is too short, so go for it and I hope you have a great time on your trip, I'm excited for you.

This is room 1018, the first room we were assigned. We only stayed one night, because we really didn't like that it was accessible and the bed was REALLY low to the ground. Not a huge deal, except that my DBF is very tall, and it was just awkward for him. Also, the room looked quite worn. We had booked standard view, and I was told that this was an upgrade from standard to woods. When I requested a change, the front desk staff was wonderful about it and was able to make it happen. The pictures of the new room will be in my next post.

Our second room was 4060. It was perfect! We were so happy with this room! We thought that being on vacation, it'd be nice to have a king bed (which is what we had at RPR and then in room 1018) since at home we have a queen. Well, after one night in this room, DBF told me that he slept better than he had since we started our vacation....because he likes being closer to me when we are sleeping. Sorry for the mush, but I thought that was so sweet!

Here is the room:

uuuuuuhhhhhh!! Looking at all these great pictures of WL makes me want to go back soooo badly! And we JUST left a couple of weeks ago!! DS5 asked me this morning while we were cuddling in my bed why we had to leave Disney and how come we couldn't stay there forever!!?? :confused3

We thouroughly enjoyed WL but think the transporation needs a little work. But overall we were impressed with the granduer of the Lodge, walking out of our room into the main Lobby was an impressive sight every morning and evening! And I am a "people watcher", so sitting out in the rockers watching all that was going on each evening as the kids went to bed was very relaxing! :thumbsup2 I cant wait til we go again in 2011!! So close yet sooo far away!! I will post some pics too once I get a few minutes to upload them to photobucket!

That's too bad. We stayed in 1018 on our Honeymoon in January 2007 and it was lovely then- didn't look worn at all. I wonder if it was a bad year of wear and tear on it.

We actually loved the location most though! It was close to the Roaring Fork and the Pool but we didn't notice any noise. There was no need to take an elevator anywhere, just a walk one way down the call and out the door for the boat dock to the MK, and just a walk the other way and up the ramp to the lobby.

Here are our pics of that room!

Thanks for the pictures Kimberly. I've heard nothing but good things about this restaurant. How did you like it?

We loved it!

It was actually a last minute addition to our plans. We were at MGM on the last full day of our honeymoon and we just weren't having that great of a time. The lines were long and it was pretty busy that day. We had planned on staying for Fantasmic that night, but there we were, standing in front of the Great Movie ride at about 2pm and not having fun. It was at that point we realized we didn't want our honeymoon to end like this!

So I hopped on the phone and was able to get a reservation for 5:30pm. We went back to the hotel and changed and went to dinner. The atmosphere was just so relaxing. Our waiter was excellent! He was very attentive and helpful making suggestions. The food was absolutely delicious! We weren't rushed at all- I think we were there until almost 7:30pm, and we didn't even have dessert! It was the perfect end to our honeymoon! We still talk about how it was the perfect way to end the week! I highly recommend it!

I LOVE this thread ... just found it! :thumbsup2
We also love the WL and have stayed once for only one night ... long story ... we are DVC members and usually stay at OKW.
Anyway ... we are staying in the Villas for the week after Christmas specifically for the warm Christmas atmosphere. :cloud9: I saw a sleigh ride mentioned and would LOVE to try that with my family. Can someone offer any details and / or photos?
Thanks for any help!

Page 18 of this post and post number 266 I believe. There is a picture of the horse and carriage along with the driver. However I believe the one from the WL is along a pretty much unlit path and I believe the one at the FW campground might be a little more interesting?:thumbsup2 A lot of the campsites are decorated tremendously for the holidays. I would reccommend that carriage ride over the one from the WL although we have not done either yet.

 Hi! We had a Woods View on our recent vist to WL ((which we adored BTW :cloud9: )) I was not super happy with the "wooded" view we were given (more of a parking lot with trees...) so i asked for a new room, but they were booked and we couldnt move til the next day. That night we realized we were able to see Wishes fireworks at the MK from our balcony!! We didntend up moving.... it was more of a hassle than what it was worth ((3 kids, all our stuff and I dont pack lightly! )) and we could see Wishes! Anyway, it was room 4082. I think anything on that side, especialy higher (5082, 6082...), would have a pretty good view of the FW. We could see the CR through the trees all lit-up too. Even though I was not 110% happy with the room, it was a nice suprise to see the fireworks! FYI: that room was loud being that it was 2 floors right over Whispering Canyon... For those of you who haven't experince WC - its really loud - good, but loud! We love it but not to sleep over with small kids! The location was great, however - right near elevators and close to buses, Roaring Forks, the store, restaurants, bar, front desk and all that kind of stuff... Hope you find this helpful!!?? :wizard:

Just curious.... how did you get upgraded to the VP Suite??? Did you ask or was it automatic? And on what circumstances if any? Did you have to pay extra?? :surfweb: I am curious because we recently stayed at the WL (4/1-4/8/08) and were celebrating our 10th wedding anniversary as well as my sons 9th birthday. I was sure to tell them upon making our ressies and at check in hoping for an upgrade ((from what I read on these boards if you mention thgs like that you sometimes get upgraded... Hapended tomy sister at CR)) Unfortunatly we were out of luck and not upgraded. :sad2: So I was just curious what the reason for the upgrade was, if any, and all the ins and outs of it! Sorry if I am being too nosey??!! :confused3 :surfweb:

I wish I could tell you how we did it. There was no magic formula. When we were there Disney was refurbishing the Contemporary and moved a lot of folks over to WL. I actually booked a woods view with bunk beds and there were so many people that they could not accommodate all the requests and we actually paid for that specific room. I also think that when they looked at who they should "bump" they saw that we are there 2 to 3 times a year and we ALWAYS stay at WL so I guess they picked us to upgrade. lucky us. it was awesome.

anyway - as soon as I can figure out how to post the pics I will add them in to the thread.

anyway - as soon as I can figure out how to post the pics I will add them in to the thread.

You have to sign up to a photohosting website first. We use www.photobucket.com It's free and easy to sign up for. Then you search for your files where your pictures that you are wanting to post are stored in. Doubleclick the photo on your computer and then click upload. It takes a couple of minutes to upload, then you will see your picture with three address bars below it. Right click the bottom one and click copy. Then come on here to where you want to post and right click then click paste. After you hit submit the post you can back out and come back and it should be in the post. :thumbsup2

Did you get photos of your villa? Where was your room, if you don't mind my asking? We're staying at VWL, sprang for the pts for a 1 BR and I can hardly wait! We spent a few nights at HHI in a 1 BR and I figure the layout would be fairly similar, but would LOVE to see some pics, if you have them. The DH is the pic guru in our little family, so I'll have him get LOTS of pics, hopefully, we'll have a good view---as the one we've had for our last two trips wasn't good at all, service entrance, woods at the back of the resort, and our DD was blessed with the DUMPSTER view on her college grad trip, but we didn't want to be complaining DVC members so we sucked it up, after all, somebody has to stay in the "not so great" rooms, so this year we're really hoping to get a good one! I'm sure the DH will be clicking away!

The view posted by KAT4DISNEY was AWESOME TOO! Thanks for all the pics, I always check out the posts on this thread, even though the DH is the one that does all the posting, as I/we LOVE WL! What a great place to just....be.

Thanks to everyone for taking the time to post photos of WL :)

We'll be there on 05/25-06/08, our first time staying on-site :yay:

we've been planning this trip for 14 months now & can barely contain our excitement as the days go past, WL looks just beautiful & we've given ourselves a few 'free' days just to hang out there.

I was in 2507 -- yes, got several room shots. There are just under 500 pictures waiting (patinetly?) for post processing. I promise to get more up tonight and this weekend.

Loved the WL and will definitely go back there.

LOL!!!! I saw these posts and was going to check with DH as he's the real food guy in the family. I can't quite remember what that was - it doesn't look real appetizing does it! It was some sort of veggie, but not one I normally have so I'll still have to double check with DH and see if he remembers. What I do know is that everything tasted good! :thumbsup2

Thanks for sharing the pics Spooky1.....it really does make you want to head back! :hippie:

I think the veggie under the salmon was grilled fennel - I had never had it before and was pleasantly surprised at how I liked it. DH and I agree that the blackish greyish things are a mushroom but we're still trying to come to an agreement on what kind. I know it wasn't muscles or oysters - don't care for either and I would have made them substitute! :lmao:

Great photos Mass Jester !!!! My son loved the photo of the red flag sign & the boat with the red flag on it right after!!! He said, "Wow, that means we get to sit down on the way to and from Magic Kingdom!" We usually always give our seats up at Pop Century to the elderly or mom's with little ones, so he get's excited about the little things, like actually getting to sit down on the way back to our hotel this year from Magic Kingdom. :)

Thank you to the replies about the salmon photo from Artist Pointe fellow Dis'er's, I was a bit concerned about the smushy grey stuff on the right side of the platter. I love salmon, but I will request they leave off the "grey stuff". :santa: :santa: :santa:

I love this thread. I really love this thread. This has to be my favorite thread of all time! I've been struggling this week with a decision: WL or AKL. Each and every time I see this thread, I KNOW the answer has to be WL. Of course, then I start thinking, I could see a girafe from my room and I'm back to AKL. Of course, I'd have to pay big for the Savannah View. I'm starting to think that there isn't a bad view at WL (except the dumpters in back). Thanks to all that contributed.

I go back and forth also on this but always end up at WL. This upcoming trip will be my second at WL! I'm really excited! The Mods and Poly are my favorites! I like the spreadout layout of those resorts. But what makes me pick WL over AKL is the location. I just like being closer to everything.

Hi DizneyNutz,

Glad you like the photos.

We first went in 2000, the following year we went to the AKL and realised we much preferred the WL. We liked it that much we've been every year since, we're heading back there in June this year, staying at the Villas at the WL. :goodvibes

I can't stay away from this thread! You guys are not doing me any favors - I told my husband to just tell me NO so I could quit thinking about moving to WL for free dining. It would be $913.50 more total for 7 nights for the woods bunk-bed room. That's a lot of money, but I keep telling myself how nice it would be have a queen bed for us, and bunk beds for the boys. How nice it would be to sit on the balcony after we put the boys to bed. How nice the boat to the MK would be, and we could take the boat to CR and monorail to Epcot if we wanted. I keep telling myself that it's not worth $900+ to get 30 more square feet.

My husband says if we upgrade to WL, we'd never want to stay at a lesser resort again. He's probably right. :(

I must quit checking this thread!

Take some pics of your food too if you get a chance - I never consider it too early to plan a mean at Artist Point! :rotfl: Your pictures are great! And thanks to Ranger 1873, RazorFace83, Luvmyfam3 and any others I missed. It always makes me happy to look at the WL pictures!:flower3:

JJ, loved the pictures. And the one of the fireplace in the Carolwood Pacific room (or whatever it is now!) really really shows the crookedness of it! Does that mantelpiece drive anyone other than JimmyTammy and us crazy???

If it makes you feel any better you are closer than me. We dont go until 12/17 and I am pretty sure I am going to bust before then. I have already ordered the Christmas tree for our room from Peggy's Sweets, got my MVMCP tickets, and planned everything I can out-too early for ADR's, Candlelight Processional, and scheduling the sleigh ride so I am going crazy needing something to do.

Please post more pictures to keep me occupied for the next 7 months!!

Queen or Full, that is the question?!

It exists. We have explored (admittedly, the DH has done more than myself) every little spot at WL. I am thinking that the area you reference to, is at the second story of the main lodge. If you take the staircase by WCC, and go through the glass doors, I think you'll be right where you remember. Sofa, fireplace, quiet. WONDERFUL place to just snuggle up and enjoy the whole atmosphere.

It's there, often you can't go there it is one of the spots for intimate weddings.

:rolleyes1 :rolleyes1 :rolleyes1

You're closer than I am! We don't get to stay at the WL until August 2009.....going this year but staying at ASMu. We will be visiting the WL for dinner and to see the Christmas decorations tho.......

The area I think you are asking about is located just over the front doors but technically it's on the 4th floor. The photo below was posted here on the Wilderness Lodge Photo Thread by DizneyNutz

That means a wedding for just the couple or maybe the couple & 2 others.
So if you are "asking" about the intimate area that faces the courtyard of the Lodge that is where intimate weddings are held.
It is called Sunrise Terrace.

There is a sleigh ride too??? We are going Dec. 7-Dec. 13 and have a bunkbed courtyard view at the WL. It will be my 6 year olds first trip to Disney. I am just loving the Christmas pic's!!! Does anybody have more? I can't wait to get there!!!!!

We're doing WL CY Dec. 7-14. Here's hoping for a wonderful trip for us both!

I know people are starting to get tired of my photos, so SOMEONE better start posting, because we love this thread and want to keep it going.:cool1:

I don't think there is any way that we could EVER get tired of your amazingly gorgeous photos!

Thank you for sharing them.

I will try to leave you something to photograph :rotfl: Last trip I got a little carried away with my new camera. Yes your right that is a sunrise.:rolleyes1

On that trip we added a day and had to stay at Yacht Club for our first night (oh the horror..) So to get our tickets dining and vehicle over to WL for the remainder of the the trip I took the car at around 6-7am.

We had to been to WL before to eat at WC but that had been late in the evening and we didn't get a chance to appreciate it. That place is amazing. We are DVC members and our next purchase of points will be at the WL Villas.

That place is amazing.

Thanks for the compliments MAGICinMYHEART that trip I just had "it".

I'd love to see all of your pics. You have beautiful composition. We have a great photographer who visits the DIS scrapbooking board on occasion to share his wonderful photos. He even sometimes lets us borrow them. Have you ever considered allowing scrappers to borrow some of your pics to supplement? We'd be ever so grateful!

I'd LOVE the chance to meet you after reading the Wilderness Lodge Info thread for months. We don't have specific plans for the evening of the 12th or 13th yet so cocktails would work well. Let's plan on it!

Thank you for this post! Great shots! We will be there in Aug/Sept for our 25th. Does anyone have a photo of a king room? We're hoping to not get a double and have requested king but we have to wait till we get there I guess??????

we've dined at the resort before and walked around and it is just gorgeous. For those who mentioned staying at AKL instead of WL, I've stayed there and it is a phenomenal resort. That was my choice for this trip as well but DH wanted something different so WL it is! I know you'll love AKL and variety as they say........ lol

I am definately not in the photography business and don't even consider myself that good. I just enjoy taking them for memories and sharing. I mostly only shoot Disney and Grandsons, so those that have asked in the past were given the green light:thumbsup2
