I couldn't help it. One of my objectives this trip was to take pictures of unusual things. I may try to post the wooleybooger we saw on the monorail one day. The man was covered in hair and had on a tank top.
OMG- I am always so scared I am going to get snagged if I take those kind of pics- I would just die!
There was a woman on the Disney bus one day and I just loved her hair and I wanted a pic- it took me 5 minutes to try and pretend I wasnt taking a pic of her- I got it though and when I went to get my haircut- I forgot the stinkin' pic-- but the cut ended up looking just like it anyway!
Here she is! I hope she does not mind appearing on yhe DIS!:lmao: But it's a good thing! She has nice hair!

Whew!!! Now that I've broken the ice - I'll be posting more on occassion (I've got to spread them out, I don't have too many pictures). DH and I usually forget to bring the camera into the park with us (actually, I think we do it on purpose so no one has to carry it!)... That is sacrilege on this board! We go back in September and then December, so now I have a mission! For now, I've got to spread out the 6 or 7 pictures I have (oh, if only I could download all the "pictures" in my head!) :sad2:
But I can proudly say - I'm not just a lurker here anymore! :)

I am going to be extra careful now to make sure I'm presentable, knowing that my fashion snafus might end up on the DIS :)
Oh - if there is anything else at Epcot that anyone wants to see a photo of, I've got at least 3 hours tomorrow to do it. :)

You know, I would hope that my family would tell me if I had some sort of outfit problem, such as the aforementioned woman. I feel bad for her that no one said anything! Good grief! I'll be checking myself more carefully now too. hahaha.

Trust me, my husband would say something. "Are you going out like THAT?" :)
I'd feel it, though - I like clothes that are a little looser, not grabbing my butt like it's in a vice! Not to mention I don't buy white pants. Anything and everything shows up on them.

Well now seems like a good time to ask a question I have wanted to ask of all you shutter bugs. I have taken a few photos of people over the years while at WDW. One day while I was with my DD and her DF I had them posing in front of the castle for a photo when an angry man and woman approached me. He asked if I had taken a picture of his wife. I said no and gestured toward the girls. He said he was talking about earlier. She demanded to review the pictures on my camera. My first thought was they were going to try and grab the camera and run. But I kept the strap on and held it tightly and let her look through the whole card. There was nothing. DD said she heard the woman say to him as they walked away, something like 'that's what happened last time'.
Now I don't know what the whole story was, but it made be paranoid about photographing others, or even who is in any of my shots of landscapes, etc. What is your take on this?? I mean if you are at WDW, shouldn't you expect that you are going to end up in other people's pictures???
I don't want to hijack the thread with this but I would appreciate your thoughts and experiences.

I absolutely expect I'll be in other people's pictures! In fact, we always joke about it. It's the afternoon and we're getting hot and sweaty and we always say, "Well, I bet someone will look back over their photos in a few years, look at us and say, 'Haha, look at those people!'"

This brings up a funny situation we had in 2005. We were leaving MK and this foreign couple (Asian) was taking pics of each other in front of the castle. When the guy went to take a pic of the girl - my dad leaned in and got in the pic making a silly face! LOL They just laughed...I can only imagine the conversation when they got back to where they were from!

I tried to not be too obvious when I was taking pictures intentionally of other people. The lady in the too tight white pants was easy as I was kinda far away. I took a picture of a really hairy man on the monorail and I just set the camera in my lap and used the display thing on the back to frame it. I have a couple others that were kinda far away, 10 feet or so, and in a crowded area so no one knew.

I don't think so- there is no way I would let someone do that. If they were harassing you or acting in a threatening way toward you then you should have called security immediately. And so what if they happened to be in one of your shots??? Would you have deleted it for them? Why should you? It may have been a meaningful picture of your family members. Disney World of all places I can't imagine anyone having an expectation of privacy from being photographed. :sad2:

I know this is totally OT, but I have to share this story since we're talking about pictures and other people in them.
A friend of mine and I were talking about our pasts and, to make a long story short, found out that we were at the same Easter Egg Hunt when we were 5 in this totally random place. Turns out he had a picture of me in the background of a picture his parents took of him, and I had a picture of him in the background of a picture my parents took of me.
It's a small, small world!

Thanks- no. Just stopped the lens down. I took a few from the walk right in front of the tree with the 10-20 that you can see the waterfall and the entire tree. I think its an awesome angle but the sky behind the tree was completely blown out. If I ever get in there after dark I want to do that shot over. Too bad it seems like that park is rarely open after dark.

:thumbsup2And I thought it was just me & my (relatively) cheap cameras! I deleted most of the shots because they were so washed out when I tried to get the whole tree w/ the waterfall. I *think* my best (so far, I hope) is this one (http://www.flickr.com/photos/number1son/447798900/) (I'm way over my 1/day quota today! ;)), and it's just the bottom branches. But I think the contrast plays well with this shot, though it would be nice if the sky weren't quite so whited out.
BTW-I really enjoy your photos -- and I'm very jealous! I wish I could take pictures half so good!:goodvibes

$2500!?!?
Can't help you there... But there's always those quick weekend trips where (if you're an AP) you can usually get by, expenses and all, for about $500 - $600... that is if you travel solo.

Thanks! I almost didn't get that monorail shot. I took a really nice photo prior to the monorail (which I figured I'd then wait for, and knew it could take a few minutes). As I was taking a flower photo, I heard it coming. So that was a very quick shot, I have one that is right after it with just the tail of the monorail. I looked at it on my camera and was like "that is the money shot for the day"! :)

Looks like the miniature train set at the Germany PavilionYes, that is correct. There are always hidden Mickeys there (well, that one is not too hidden, LOL), and they keep changing them all the time. Fun to look for.

Whoa... miss a couple of weeks on this thread, miss A LOT!! I just got caught up. No fair - I only have one trip worth of photos and have exhausted my "WOW!" photos, or in my case what I'll call my "amateur wow" (no caps) photos :lmao:. Seriously, I LOVE all your pics and you have inspired me to take more & better ones next trip. It's just too bad that it's almost 6mos away. :sad1:
OK... would you guys accept "cute" instead of "wow"? Several pages back people talked about great CM's. I LOVED Penny and want her to give my daughter her 1st haircut, too - she was wonderful! Believe me, my son had more fun with this than the slight "deer caught in headlights" look suggests! :rotfl: Happy Easter, all!

Don't want to brag, but I can't believe how good this photo came out especially since I snapped it quickly as we were going through the Fast pass line on BTMRR. Believe me, it is not the photographer but this great digital camera I have.

Hmmmm -- maybe the problem was - she wasn't his wife?:lmao:
I would just blow it off - anyone going to Disney should expect that they will be in other people's pictures at some time or other.

For my site, I try not to get people full-face, I don't feel comfortable doing that. Often, if I want to take a picture of someone jogging or riding a bike, etc. (it is more fitness related), I try to get them from the back. :)
For personal photos, it doesn't matter to me who's in the photo or how. I also stay away from pool photos (with me taking pics by the pool), since I don't want anyone to think I'm some sort of weirdo. :)

Where is it? So we can TRY to look for it next week?
The picture is from September '05, in one of the shops on Main Street in MK, and it was part of a sales display, so it may not be there any longer. It seems like I remember seeing it (or one like it) at the Disney Store in Downtown Disney in June '06. I don't recall seeing it last month -- but I wasn't particularly looking for it, and we didn't spend too long at DTD because of the crowds.

This is a wonderful shot! I have too many blurry pics of my son now that he goes a mile a minute! If I may ask the most popular question in this thread ;), what camera do you use? Anything too advanced for a novice, such as moi? :confused3
Thanks! :)
I have a Panasonic Lumix Digital SLR. It's 4 MPx, 12x optical zoom. I seem to get great outdoor shots, but I am still learning how to use it correctly indoors and in certain light situations.

Gorgeous shot!
Did you know they redid the castle again? All that pretty wrapping around the points is gone. :(
Here is one from last Thursday:

I have a picture of that also! I took it a couple of weeks ago in the store on Main Street in the MK. I have a closeup like yours, but then I noticed Tinkerbell up top so had to get her in there too!

Thanks for the info! Probably too great a learning curve on that for me right now. :sad1: I've been mostly point-and-shoot-in-auto-mode so far! I need more time to learn... maybe when my kids are a little older than 7 mos & 2.5 yrs, or does it get harder?!?!! :rotfl:

Yes, and my 8 YO daughter is *most* upset about it. On a positive note, however, we can probably get in two or three extra rides, given the time my family will save with Dad not spending an hour snapping photos of all the different gold plated characters strewn about the castle spires!

I used a special 67mm people filter that I bought online. It's a lot more expensive, even, than a circular polarizer, but works very well, don't you think?
