Disney Picture of the day Part 2

You did a great job taking pictures. I just can't seem to take any good ones, it doesn't matter what kind of camera I use. Thanks for sharing.

Honestly, having a long zoom range helps a lot. Most of the best shots I got last week were at the "telephoto" end of the lens. The 5200 has a 10X lens, which means that, at full tele, I'm shooting at around 380mm in 35mm film camera equivalence. That usually does at least three things: first, it compresses space, so things appear closer together than they really are; second, it usually blurs the background, at least a little, which gives some separation between the subject and the background; third, it allows me to "zoom in" on detail. I was very pleased with most of the shots I got but the S5200 is not the only camera with this kind of "reach". The Canon S2-IS/S3-IS and Sony H series (H1, H2, H5) all have a 36-432mm equivalent lens, which is even more versatile than the Fuji's.

There is a thread on the Photography Board that is titled, "Photos that the average tourist does not shoot", or something like that. It was my inspiration for looking past all the usual WDW "photo ops" for something a little different. You may want to check it out: http://disboards.com/showthread.php?t=1144547 for some ideas.

He's lucky they didn't make him walk the plank for that. :> I don't really like how flash photos turn out in those dark rides anyway. The settings are meant to be viewed in low light, and using a flash takes away from them.

This photo does not necessarily mean that YEKCIM used a flash. I have the same photo and I NEVER use a flash in any of the rides or attractions that have photography restrictions, but my camera has a setting for low lighting that allows me to get some pretty good shots without a flash.

Main advantages, at WDW, were the long tele end of the zoom range (380mm in 35mm equivalence) and ability to shoot in high ISO (the 5200 goes to ISO 1600, but is very noisy above 800). I've gone thru about half of my WDW pix so far and uploaded what I consider to be the best of the bunch. This picture reminded me of my brother. He used to love minnie when he was younger. He went through so many Minnie plush dolls. One of them lost her tails (back when they had tails), her bow, she had a hole in her, and he still wouldn't get rid of her! My brother's love for Minnie is one of my favorite Disney memories (I will always remember when he met her, he was in love) :love:

I set my camera (Fujifilm S5200) on a railing, and shot a dozen or so shots, at different manual exposures, trying to get it right. This one was 8 seconds at f/8, ISO 64, and was the best of the bunch. The small aperture (f/8) and long exposure were what created the "star" effects on the lights.

They're not the best quality but we had over 50 of them on there... so I captured the best ones... It was so fun to see Anna with the princesses. She was a few days from turning 2 - and you could see it in her eyes - that she was just amazed by all these princesses! I'll never forget that... Here's more - they're pretty low res so I don't feel bad about posting a whole bunch of them:

OK - this is how big of a Disney freak I am - I went by myself on June 20 just for a day. I'm in Iowa and I think that might have been the busiest 24 hours in my life! But I'd do it again in a heartbeat if the opportunity presents itself. But our family was there May 2-9 of this year. I think it was you that said you saw yourself in one of the pictures I had from Donald's Breakfastosaurus, right? It is a small world after all... :)

That's one ride that I can ride over and over again and never get sick of! I just love everything about it, from the music, the theme, the thrill... it just sucks lately it seems like a lot of the AAs or effects are broken. I don't think I've ever been on the ride where I didn't notice something not working properly... Still one of my favorites though!

Yes -- it's in AK. I can't recall exactly where but I THINK it's on the left not too far after you cross the bridge onto Discovery Island.

This is one of my favorites from our trip this past week. This photo reminds me of my kids sheer joy in meeting the characters! I think it's going to be my Christmas card.
