We finally got our cabin assignment this afternoon! No more lifeboat suite for us! We're in 6114. Kind of out in "no man's land" as far as DIS cabins are concerned, but that's okay. We're on the port side with a plexiglass verandah, which is what we requested (and with our feet facing forward, which my sister needs to help with her seasickness!). And we're only several doors down from DISers in either direction!

Just called DelivEars and ordered the new Golden Mickey Ears. They said delivery would be Monday, but could be here as soon as Friday. Didn't have them engraved - can do it when I go to WDW this month, if I want. They look beautiful and can't wait to see them.

I'm excited - went to Wal-Mart last night and picked up the infamous sandles for myself, Elaine, her mother, my daughter and her best friend. They told me they only had children's sizes but keep looking, we found them. Can't wait :cool1:

Got mine too (along with a basket of other junk I don't need, but had to have)

Mine are blue also, like the picture posted a couple of pages back, but instead of palm trees I have big flowers. Didn't notice them at first, but started touching flip flops in the boxes and all of a sudden they started flashing back at me. Our store had pink and blue, ladies sizes 5-6 and 7-8 and 9-10. Didn't look at the kids though.

If anyone is in need, my credit card still has space!

Getting mine at Disneyland on May 5 when we are there for the opening of Disneyland's 50th Birthday Celebration!

Hadn't mentioned this before, but our daughter's singing/dancing group applied to Disneyland to perform and sent in their audition tape and they booked us for the opening weekend of the celebration. The CM was excited saying that they don't get many groups who sing/dance that come and perform.

SO....................we are leaving for DL on Thur. morning May 5 and will play all weekend and return home Sunday, May 8. Then leave for WDW on May 13. Haven't broke the news to the boss that I am leaving for a couple of more days (she is still adjusting to the two week vacation!).

So if anyone is around, Jamie performs in DL on the Carnation Plaza Stage on Friday and in California Adventure on Saturday (back by Bug's Life). Don't know the times yet. We are meeting up with Ken and Shari (KPROS).

That's why I was thrown off..............they are in the top straps that go across the top of my feet, not in the feet.

Rebecca, sorry to let you know you can not ware those shoes on a commercial aviation flight. In the unlikely event of an emergency, your flashie shoes would disrupt the emergency floor lights, i.e. White lights lead to Red Lights which indicate the emergency exits. LOL

Rebecca...I'm jealous!!!! We requested a room near the room we had on our first cruise 2088 and were told none were available in the area so they assigned us 2552 instead. I guess the people that were in room 2086 originally cancelled. You will love the location!!!!!

This is not fair, our closest Walmart is 100 miles away and it will not be until Friday when I can get to one in Casper (250 miles), (work travel). First I have to endure the anticipation of the cruise now I have to sit here and wish I had a Walmart closer just to us so I could get our Blinky Flippy Floppy Thingies. This is just too much, time goes too slow. Oh well, SCUBA class to night will help clear my mind.

I got on the floor today and starting going through my pin trading pins.

I don't know what to bring with me. If I bring all of them, they are in a medium size black s/case and it is very, very heavy. I have two books and lots of extras that are not in books. The extras are on their cards and in baggies separating the different styles.

Have lots of Stitch pins. What is everyone else bringing? I just don't know what to bring with me and how many of each pin.

Will anyone be looking for something special??

Some suggestions might be helpful for all of us.

That gentleman that is posting on Acapulco is so nice, so much information that is useful. The pictures that he has a link to, are also very nice. Sounds like they are really planning something special for us.

Perhaps we should save a few sailaway gifts for him to thank him for all the information.

I also ordered a flower arrangement for her and when I was reciting to the CM what I would like the card to say, two of the ladies that sit by me at work were in tears and said that they hope their daughters will do for them what I am doing for my Mom.

I got some sheets, too. I haven't seen sheets sold as separate top and bottom in a long time...just retired my 30-year-old water bed and had to replace all the bedding because it won't fit the new deep mattress..... Compared to Sears the Walmart bedding is a bargain!....

I got on the floor today and starting going through my pin trading pins.

I don't know what to bring with me. If I bring all of them, they are in a medium size black s/case and it is very, very heavy. I have two books and lots of extras that are not in books. The extras are on their cards and in baggies separating the different styles.

Have lots of Stitch pins. What is everyone else bringing? I just don't know what to bring with me and how many of each pin.

Will anyone be looking for something special??

Some suggestions might be helpful for all of us.

Hi everyone!!! I think everyone must be getting more and more excited, because I am having a harder time than ever keeping up. I had a Mustang GT that I loved, but got rid of it in August because it was killing me in gas, so I bought a VW Jetta GLI. I never thought I would ever be one to buy a VW, but I love it! I am sure Cash will love the room and the view of sitting up higher!
I was excited to hear that some of the ports are planning special things! I never really thought of that.....I AM GETTING SO EXCITED!!! I am also excited to see that I am getting some neighbors in the boiler room floor :rotfl2: We are in #2108.

Well we got the New car on friday,(our sons 20th Birthday) that I was talking about last week on this thread Honda Jazz and I had been trying to post a picture ever since and have just worked it out.I havent been able to work out how to resize picture though.The car dealer put balloons in the car and the car was at the front of the showroom when we picked it up ,was a great day.

I know there was mention of bringing girl scout cookies onboard. If anyone has extra boxes of girl scout cookies, I'm looking to buy a box of Thin Mints and a box of Samoas. I didn't realize I needed them until a couple of weeks ago and I left a message at the local girl scout chapter office but haven't gotten a return phone call yet. :(

Just got back from the oral surgeon. Complete right side of my head is numb, including the throat, ear and temple area. Had teeth pulled and discussed implants but decided not to go that route. Many $$'s involved. So just adding teeth to the partial already there.

Ok, I know this has been discussed over and over and over on the main boards, but I thought I would ask here. :rolleyes:

I was thinking of packing and trying to decide what my DS9 will wear to dinner every night. Do you think it is necessary for him to wear long pants every night? Or will 'nice' shorts and polo be fine. Of course, the formal, semi-formal and nights we go to the show in the theater will be long pants. But, I'm thinking of allowing him to wear nice shorts and a polo on nights he heads out to the lab. My DD6 will be wearing skorts and sandals most of the time. Sounds like a easy compromise.

Any thoughts? If DCL has lightened to allow jeans(yikes!) in the dining room, I'm thinking he will be fine in the nice shorts and polo.

Sandra, that is a good question. No, DCL still doesn't allow jeans in the dining rooms. In fact, they've even gotten more strict in what can be worn at Palo (no more Tommy Bahama style shirts). That being said, you will still see jeans from time to time in the dining rooms. It's hard to say on the shorts for your DS...he's a little older than I could imagine kids being able to get away with shorts, but I don't have kids either. Anyone else have thoughts?

I think DH and I fly out at 3:45 and my parents fly out at 3:30. We scheduled slightly later flights because we weren't going very far (it's only about an hour flight) and we thought there might be delays at the port from ceremonies, plus possibly immigration and luggage delays. Oh, and because we have late seating, we will be the second group off the ship.

On the 10-day, there was a delay getting off the ship because there was so much luggage, they had a hard time getting it off the ship fast enough for us to also disembark. I suspect this will be the same, if not worse because this is not DCL's normal port.

I will post when I figure out how much a shuttle will be... :moped:

Topsiders is open for breakfast the day we arrive in port. It's not a sit down breakfast, but you could get off the ship sooner. At Port Canaveral people line up early in the atrium, so the earlier you eat the closer to the front of the line you get (unless someone skips breakfast and holds a place for you). Just a thought. Hmmm, that's hard to say, but I would think 9:30 for late seating is a safe pickup time. The companies that are used to picking up for cruises understand that you might be running late. We had a pick-up time of 9am for the 10-day and we were about 20 minutes late. Our driver was totally cool with it, so no trouble. They kinda hear what's going on from other passengers departing and porters and such.

You have to figure DCL wants us off the ship asap because they are turning around same day to start the first 7-day Mexican Riviera cruise (you lucky dogs, firstimers!). DCL needs to get the ship ready, so they'll do what they can to get us out on time, and I think 10am is the absolute latest you can be on the ship without being "tossed."

I am an adult ICU nurse in a small mixed unit- which means we take care of everyone over the age of 16 needed intensive care. We are not a trauma center- so they go to a larger hospital and we send out people who are able to be transported and need heart catherization- otherwise they stay.
I am currenlty in school at Rush University in Chicago- online this semester. I am going to school to be an Critical Care Nurse Practitioner.

RE dress code for kids - mine have been on a few Disney cruises. Kids can dress in shorts for dinner - I just put a collared knitted shirt on them instead of a t-shirt, so they look nicer. It was recommended (by the official Disney Cruise site) that until the boys turn 13 or so, they would be ok in shorts at dinner. My 11/almost 12 yr old son has some button down shirts which he will wear open over colored t-shirts. Depending upon the evening's dress code, he'll have nice shorts on or slacks. You will see all kinds of variation in dress at dinner - and that's just the adults!!!:)

:earseek: Holy cow, you will just never know how happy that will make some of our dining mates. A co-worker and his partner will be sitting at our table. They HATE to dress for dinners, so jeans will make them super happy. Thanks for posting that update! I still won't let my DH wear jeans (not that he would anyway - too hot!) but for others, that will help for such a long cruise.

A tug boat welcoming you in with it's fire hoses blasting, I will have a military vessel escort the ship from 12 miles out from the bay. Folkloric dancers on the pier, greeting and saying hi; great oportunity to take pictures, 2 clowns giving out balloons and a few guys on stilts and in the evening before sailing 15 blasts of fireworks.

Thisis what we want to do, but I need to meet up with municpal authorities to see if they want to pitch in the festivities.

Hopefully I will earn/get my golden ears.....

Sandra, Everytime someone mentions shorts in the dining room, it makes me think of the couple at the table next to us a couple of cruises ago. I think they must have been bombed every evening by dinner time. One night the man came in his boxers! Yes, it is true! Complete with dress shirt, tie and sports coat. His wife's hair looked like it had been done up in a blender, and she had lipstick ALL over her face! They kept us entertained every night. I think your son will just fine in shorts, I wouldn't give it a second thought.

Tom and Diana, Thanks so much for keeping us updated on all the activities. It is so hard to keep up with this thread, I barely have time to read anywhere else! Sounds like I should stock up on camcorder tapes for the shows at the ports.

Georgie and Linda, Jet Blue several months ago changed my flight times. We leave the 13th 5 minutes later, and leave L.A. 20 minutes earlier on June 3rd. Not too bad. I am just SO thankful that Jet Blue is near enough to us that we can take advantage of the 3 checked bags at 70 pounds! How we will manage all that luggage is another story :confused3

My dream car is a VW Beetle in Black (with removable ears!!!!!!) but when I was car shopping I had to choose either the VW Bettle or a Pontiac Sunfire with a 14 day Disney cruise through the Panama Canal....guess ya know I driving around in a Sunfire 'cause we're going on the cruise!!!!!

What has been done in the past is that the Navigator was posted, before we left on a website and then people could print out if they wanted.

Am always up early. Never used an alarm clock ever. I just love the mornings. Thanks for volunteering me - nice way to give someone a boost.... :cool1: Harry is not an early mornng person - more late night - so he will be up late and I'll be up early. That way we get along real good.

Can't wait to have some of the Hot Chocolate on pool deck early in the morning when the breeze is blowing through from one side to the other. It is just heavenly and the best.

I just looked up the closest Wal Mart to me and it is in Pompano Beach. I think after the doctor's apptm. this morning I will go there. :moped: Feel pretty good today. Have to go to UPS to ship a box of disney pins that I sold recently anyways.

You can sign up to play tag, and also for the scavenger hunt. If you'd like, you can sign to be part of Zazu's Crew and help pass out the mini-navigators. Have you added your name to the master list yet? That's the most important thing to do, so everyone knows where you are. Make sure you sign up to get a magnet also!

It's so fun knowing we have all these built-in friends before we even get on the ship! I can't wait to meet everyone!

Okay... I've got to stick up for our poor PT Cruiser! ;)

We have one of the "ugly" PT Cruisers. We were one of those crazy people who ran to the Chrysler dealership months before it was released and got on a 6 month wait list. We really love it!

It's been a great little car for us, especially with the design and the seat configurations. I fit so many things in that poor little car when we were remodellng! It was a godsend! Amazing how now there are so many other vehicles with the same configurations :goodvibes

You would have to fax at $7 per page or send this from internet cafe while in port.

The only other option is to sign onto a "go to my pc" type service.
He can read and reply to email while on the ship but cannot ammend attachements or send them- unless other people know other options that Disney has not told me about.
(I almost had to cancel- they were less than helpful in this aspect. You'd think the amount of money for the cruise would encourage them to show a little Disney Magic! I was able to take a class from a teacher who knew my situation- lucky most nurses like to travel and understand.)

A group of us got together and are providing name badges with custom lanyards for everyone on the "Master List". The name badges have each persons first name and their Disboard screen ID or the ID of the Disboard member. The badges come in a clear plastic holder that will also hold your room key. So far, I've made about 260 of them. I only have 300 lanyards and holders, so once I hit 300, that's it.

Welcome aboard....I have the same problem and needed accessiblity for my computer to send and recieve files for work. My company hooked me up with a treo pda that will act as a modem with my mac (wirelessly) whenever I have a cingular service (which looks mostly like port days). If you have to send or receive something I will try to help if we have service...but I am on a mac, so I dont know if that will work or not... I will have a USB memory stick to trade files if anyone needs anything.

That was the best I could come up with, and I was searching exhaustively. Anyway, we will be in 8546 - so if you have to send something then feel free to call and I will let you know if it is working...

1) Both mom & I are very early risers, if it is after 5:00am and one or both of us are not at the coffee station Deck 9, we may have fallen overboard.

We just booked the West bound repositioning cruise and we are all very excited. I haven’t read all 8,000+ posts but it looks like a lot of planning and coordination is happening for DIS meets and events.

Our group will be myself (Bruce), DW (Sandy), and DDs (Amanda-12, Jennifer-10). We have late sitting and our cabin is yet to be determined. This will be our 6th voyage on the Magic and we look forward to making new friends.

Renae: We are still trying to figure out the packing/schleping thing ourselves. This will be our first time having to come back on a plane and it is stressing me out big time!! We are used to parking at the terminal and taking as much as we want. For the 10 night Christmas cruise DH and I took 6 pieces of luggage... now we are limited to 4 with a 50lb weight limit and we'll be gone twice as long!! :scared1: I think laundry is inevitable.... :crazy:

Joe will probably join you early risers at the coffee station.....he's up by 5am usually... :crazy: I am a night owl and will probably be kicked out of the Cove Cafe each night. :drinking1

Nothing much new here, I finally got Jeff's cold ten fold. Work has been really slow (I can say that since I'm not there). Started the pile for packing. Drugstore.com has a big sale on Banana Boat sunscreen. It's been the only thing that works on Jeff's Irish skin. They also have airborne if anyone is still looking for it...

After all of this planning and keeping everything straight, I have TOTALLY changed all my plans after we dock in CA. Changed the airline tickets and car rental and made hotel reservations, as we decided to stay at DL for a couple of days. Glad we are getting closer so that I can't make more changes later.

If the Fantasmic show is not booked up for our group, I would like to join in. If not, we will do something else that night. By the time we get to the hotel and get checked in, it will be time to get to the park for it.

I tried to use my DVC points for the GC, but my points are banked and they won't let me use them until September and I refuse to pay $300 + a night there. We have stayed there several times already and it is beautiful. But we booked at the Ramada Inn right across the street from DL's entrance and it only takes about 5 minutes to walk there. Have stayed there many times also and it is a very nice place to stay. They also have complimentary continental breakfast each day.

NOTE TO SELF: NO MORE CHANGES ---- KEEP THINGS THE WAY THEY ARE. :teeth:

I haven't used to Downy brand before- it was what they had at Wal-Mart. I have used other kinds and they worked okay. Better on cotton. They don't give you the crisp look- but it does take away the wrinkles.

Over the weekend our Dollar Store had some Banana Boat stuff, so I scored a couple of bottles. I will be traveling tomorrow for work and will be able to get to two different Walmarts as part of my holy quest for the illusive Blinkie Flippy Floppy Thingies.

Links to the shirts and other activities are part of Peters update list that is posted on a regular basis. He is doing a great job of keeping it updated. Also there is Jeff and Jenn’s master list that is most helpful, do get added to those.

My body is here at work but my mind is a month away. As I was doing some paperwork I noticed that I was dating this as if it were the month of MAY. Wonder where my mind is at. It is looking at the horizon searching fr that speck of land known to us as Castaway Cay.

You'll need the bug spray maybe thru the canal since we'll be going slow and very close to land, plus in California I suppose.
The downy wrinkle release does work esp on tees and such. I wouldn't use it on dress shirts/ pants etc.

Wal-Mart sells a small bottle 3-4 oz of 100% DEET bug spray pretty cheap. Look in the hunting/fishing section. We picked this up ourselves, bugs like us also.

I know this will come as a complete surprise to everyone, but one of my interests is improv comedy. Since DCL took the improv out of Off-Beat, it's up to us to bring improv back to the Magic. So, I'll be "hosting" some improv games on one of the at sea days TBD. Anyone interested? No experience necessary. It's just for fun. Audience members needed.

I will make up the navigator (for everything we have scheduled prior to the cruise), print, bring, and deliver to everyone. I will also bring extras for the sailaway party(ies).
What has been done in the past is that the Navigator was posted, before we left on a website and then people could print out if they wanted.

I'll throw out an offer, if anyone can use this.

DW and I own a business, and are located three miles from Disneyland. We have full shipping accounts for both UPS and FedEx available, along with packing tape, etc.

If people need to ship things home after the cruise, we can probably help. Shipping costs would be up to you, but they would be at our rates, which are better than what you can get at any walkup location.
