I was beginning to think that no one wanted to play. So, we have reached 3000 posts. We are only about 5000 behind the August Repo. But, who's counting anyway.

Now I really believe that we are going on this cruise. Even though we had our confirmation number, I haven't been able to get in on line to check my reservation but guess what today I was finally able to access it!!!! I also didn't like seeing a balance owing so I called and paid off the balance. So much better to see "Balance Due - $0.00"!!!!!!

The other night I was reading about everyone's great deals on formal dresses and I thought, we never have deals like that here in Canada...well gues what...Mom & I were at the mall today and had to kill time while my watch battery was changed and next door there was a dress store, so we went in and they had formal dresses for $29.99!!!!!! They are beautiful. I asked the salesgirl if they were seconds or something and she said that they were just trying to sell off some of their remaining dresses they brought in for Christmas and New Years to make room for some new stock. I can't believe the deal we got!!!!!

I'm getting so excited!!!! I can't wait - only 113 more days!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I spent the afternoon w/DD at the Disney Store. It is impossible to get her out of there. She was playing with all the stuffed animals and having little conversations with them. I did find great deals on Ariel PJ's and a beautiful Ariel snowglobe! Not a complete loss as DD's 4th birthday is next month and Princess Ariel is attending the party!!

Oh how I love Disney!!

For all of the dog lovers (and :cat:, bird, :fish:, etc) we have on our cruise, just what exactly are you going to do with your pets while gone for 14+ days?

I'm in such a quandry. This'll be the longest I've been away from mine at a given time.

I'm hoping to find some wonderful person to both housesit and petsit as my dogs wouldn't last an hour in a kennel. :flower1:

My sil will be watching our dogs. A couple trips ago, she thought she'd take them to her house for a change of scenery. Cassidey, our mixed breed got to her house and sat and stared at the front door for hours til she finally took pity on her and brought her home.

My sil is known to come get them and take them to the dog park during the day while Keith and I are at work, too, so they know she's their 2nd Mom. When she comes to visit, they are very excited to see her, then run down to their crates waiting for her to feed them. They know the drill......

Our kids are going to the kennel from which they came, They love it there nice runs and a big play area for them. They get great attention there, so it takes a load off our minds when we leave them.

Long Beach Airport is a blast from the past, it is right out of Mayberry RFD!!! :flower:

I have rented cars there in the past when I go out there to visit my son in college - it is a wonderful place so layed back. They have a Hertz and Enterprise, I believe an Avis and maybe one other - I can remember off the top of my head. And the Airport is about 15minute ride from the port. If you have any other questions I would be glad to help you out, feel free to PM me.

Wish we were on this cruise - we decieded too late! All is not lost we just came off of the 10 day Christmas Cruise. :flower1:

My mom & dad are watching our dogs. Oobie will probabley stay at thier house, but Jesse hates to go anywhere, so she will stay home. I talked to DCL yesterday. We are still on GTY status, Cat. 9. We are still on the waitlist for main dinner seating also. The lady at DCL told me that they definately rec. a passport. She said there is no way they would ever rec. going that far with just a BC and ID. I printed out the papers and will get our pics this weekend. Then I just have to find somewhere close to accept our applications. I am hoping our post office will do it, due to our work schedules being so hectic. Hope everyone has a great weekend. Morning all, and Happy Friday!!!

Welcome Janis, so glad you came out of lurkdome to say hello!

Pets: Hoo boy, this is going to be a tough trip for us on that. Normally for a trip this long, we ship our dog up to the wine country to stay with my parents and hire a pet sitter for our cats. But my parents are going with us on this trip! So we're trying out a new pet sitter that swears they will walk the dog the 2 miles a day he's used to, plus spend time loving our :cat: :cat: . Sure hope this works! Otherwise, our house may be destroyed when we get home... :earseek:

good morning everyone! :wizard:

We are still distraught over what to do with our babies. No one we know is crazy enough to watch http://smileys.smileycentral.com/cat/16/16_2_6.gif (*******************************************ZSzeb008_ZNxdm813)http://smileys.smileycentral.com/cat/16/16_2_6.gif (*******************************************ZSzeb008_ZNxdm813)http://smileys.smileycentral.com/cat/16/16_2_6.gif (*******************************************ZSzeb008_ZNxdm813) for almost 3 weeks. Especially our spoiled babies It was very fortunate that both our kids were between apartments for the Holiday cruise and they stayed here at the house with them. Of course the house is still in shambles from that.... We have visited several "pet resorts" both here in So FL and in the Orlando area. There is a new one opening next month right down the road from us so we have high hopes for that as well because it's so much closer. We do have to decide soon though since the reservations will include Memorial Day weekend. We're thinking about doing a boot camp type of resident obedience school for the younger ones as well.... decisions, decisions.
Wish that place in Valrico was not so far away and in the wrong direction, It sounds great.

OK - we fell way to far down the page. Here we topped 3000 and everyone is worn out.

Here is a subject to talk about. The proposed wine and cheese get together on Friday, May 13 at WDW. I think we were talking about 5:00pm. Any chance the start time could get moved up to 4:00 or 4:30 instead. We now have La Nouba tickets for the 6:00pm show.

Thanks Jen... Bass Pet Motel is one we have visited. VIPetResort is on the list to visit when we go up next month. We've also visited Animal Inn of Orlando, which was promising since they do the obedience boot camp. It's tough... we're torn. Most of the nicer places cater to smaller dogs and our babies are of the XL variety...LOL They are so spoiled they don't know they are DOGS and will wonder where the furniture and king size tempurpedic bed is...

Hmmm...unfortunately, we may have to miss out if it's this early. We are trying for a whirl-wind tour of MK, Epcot, and MGM on Friday with my parents as they haven't been to WDW since the mid-80s (read: no MGM, no AK, and World Showcase in Epcot not yet finished). We are going to try to hit the very best of the best high points at each of the three parks (don't think it's worth taking them to AK - they've been to Asia and Africa). Since that's going to take most of the day, I'm pretty sure we won't make a 4pm wine party. Even 5 was going to be tough. But no worries! We can do it another time on the ship!

Oooh! A new event to plan on board perhaps?

Well, I hope that my favorite neighbor will be able to feed my pet dogs Penny and Carrie. They'll be just fine at home. Ollie, my kitty, is another kettle of fish (sorry Ollie). She's used to being outside except when she wants inside. She is required to be in the house by 9PM because of the danger from various kitty predators and the only way I could leave town with a clear conscience is to put her in kitty reform school, which costs a bundle, but at least I'll know she'll be safe.

Enterprise will do a one way rental as we are doing it to LAX. You have to call the local office direct and they will quote you a rate plus a $25.00 drop off fee. Not bad considering they are across the street from the cruise terminal. Hope that helps you.

Well, lets start talking about a wine tasting on board. We did a big wine tasting get together on the 10 day and it was a lot of fun. While this group is not as big as that group, I bet we could make it happen. The first sea day might be a good time. Sometime in the afternoon, say 4:00 or so. All we need is a place and a unspecified number of bottles and we'll have a party.

Leslie, Sleep is over rated, I seem to average about 6 hours a night on a good night. Besides I will be like a kid a Christmas and will be too excited to sleep. I am the same way before a trip of any kind, as new experiences await.

Hey Jenn, silly Peter, telling us he is 39, remember we have ways to find out how old he really is, and expecting presents. He should be wary of what he wishes for as DIS folks can pretty creative.

Wine party on board sounds like fun. I might have to search far and wide for a bottle of wine from Wyoming. Kelli any thing on your side of the state? Idaho has a couple of nice vineyards. On the Western Inaugural a Boons farm wine tasting was held, it was silly fun, just a good way not to take life too seriously. It was fun.

The onboard wine tasting sounds like a great idea, especially if we can get Sessions or some place like that. We're waitlisted for a Cat 3 or above, but nothing yet, so we can't help there.

What about just opening it up to be a bottle of your favorite wine, rather than one from your state? Should still get a good selection, and we'll probably be trying wines that would be easier to locate once the cruise is over. :drinking1

Just playing around and went to DCL site to see what might be available for this cruise. Given 2 adults there were Cat 12,11,and 8. I was kinda surprised to see there was availability, I would have thought wait lists would have scarfed up anything as soon as it became available.

My 13 year daughter is less than enthusiastic about going on this 2 week cruise. I think it would help if she could "talk" with some other kids her age who are going. I suggested she start a thread for teens on this cruise but she was reluctant to do this. (Although I think she would participate if someone else started it.) I've looked through the list of people going and saw that there a few other teens around her age. I'm also hoping there are people who normally lurk (like me) not yet on the list who might have young teens or there might be teens following this thread who will be on this cruise. So how about it? Yep, and he is the back up center for an eigth grader who is 6 ft 5 in. It is really hard to defend that guy in practice, particularly since Billy doesn't have that killer instinct yet. We still manage to lose on occasion and I think our current record is 14-5. It gets kind of funny at times because our team looks like the NBA compared to some of the other Christian schools at this level. Our biggest problem is the lack of practice time and practice space at our school. Max around two or three practices a week if even available.

Hi Scott

While traveling with a Swiss Army Knife could present a problem, I believe you can pack a corkscrew in your checked bags. And if no one has a corkscrew and if Disney won't loan us one, then we will just have to switch to champagne and open the bottles with a wine glass. I've seen the wine guys on the Magic do it a number of times. Shouldn't be a problem. :wizard:

Laurie, snorkel gear can be rented on CC. They do not rent wet suits, I am just a ninny in cold water. Buying and bringing along is a personal choice for various reason i.e. fit, preference, and in Lynn's case prescriptive lenses. If you bring your own snorkel gear to CC they will loan you a swim vest for free. A side note on wet suits, the pacific side will be cooler.

Sounds like it will have to be a big cake, we might as well make it a unbirthday party.

Bob, Thanks for the link.

From the descriptions given the dive sites in Curacao will be Divers Leap near Jan Thiel Beach. Good site for all levels of divers, lots of good stuff (critters) to see in the shallow. The second site would be the Tugboat. There is a wall close by and a tugboat is at 17' so is a good safety stop at the end of the dive. Our primary experience in Curacao is on the north side of the island.

Cabo is a first for us, bummer it is only a one tank dive. My record is 1 hr and 56 minutes on one tank at 1 ATM. but don't want to miss the boat. Actually that is a short day there.

I am enchanted by the Sierrra Madre tour, maybe it is just the Bogie in me, so here's looking at you kid.

I did a dive in Cabo...got a fish book before I went so I'd be informed...Saw some pipefish, not real common in Lake Travis where I did my certification dive, and one of the guides on the night dive (I didn't make that one) showed my friend his "pet" barracuda....

NEM, as Peter said, folks in Cat 3s have priviledges...on the 10-day one of the cruises called DCL and nicely asked if there was a location for about 20-25 people. DCL allowed us to take over Sessions for about an hour, and they provided cheese, crackers, and a few other munchies for us. Yes, they had a bartender open the wine, but we also had several people bring their own cork screws. It was fun, a good mix of local wines and home-made wines.

I suppose if we are really serious about trying to have one of these events, let's do a quick indication of interest. Let's hear from all of you wine-o's...um, I mean wine connoiseuers, fans, and Boon's Farm fans! If we have enough people, maybe we can get NEM to be our "sponsor" with DCL...

:wave2: Hi guys....Stacey here....

I was told that you all are planning a wine party, like we had on the 10 Night Christmas cruise. There's a whole long story about that wine party that only a few of us knew about.
My family was in stateroom 8602, the one with the huge verandah, so I thought we could have the party out there. I contacted DCL and was told in no uncertain terms "Absolutely NOT!". The reason they gave was "safety issues", I tried asking, but they didn't specify. One guess was that if there were a fire, that many people could not get off the verandah, through the room, and out the door....
Anyway....I had promised to try to get us a wine party, so I asked a gal at DCL that I had worked with before what our options were.
She told me that we could use Sessions, and they would supply us with two servers.
BUT....and this is the part that we never told anyone......we had to pay for the food.
She sent a list of items from Food & Beverage, and it was charged to my credit card.
There were a couple of people who had a feeling that there was a charge for this, and when they asked me, I told them, and they offered to split the cost.
The reasons that we didn't tell anyone about DCL charging us were because we wanted to do this, and we wanted everyone to have fun. We didn't want anyone to be upset with Disney for not giving it to us for free. And, it would have been more trouble than it was worth to divide the cost and expect people to pay us. It was something that we wanted to do, without any fuss.
I hadn't read your thread, so I didn't know that you all were thinking of doing this. But it was brought to my attention, and I knew that you would want to know.
If you still want to have your party, one of you can contact me, and I will let you know who to talk to at DCL.
Sorry if I messed things up for you......

We ordered 3 fruit platters and 3 cheese platters. The servers did not cork the wine. If they had, there would have been a corkage fee per bottle. They were there to tidy up, and bring out more food as it needed to be replenished. We also had a cake there, it was a "shared" vow renewal cake, as we had 3 couples renew their vows during that cruise. Two on the ship, and one in Key West.
When we talked on the thread about having the party on our verandah, or out on Deck 7 aft, we talked about everyone just ordering a cheese platter from room service. But, again, they wouldn't let us do it on the verandah, and Deck 7 was "iffy" as we didn't know how the weather would be, and we also wanted something a little more private.
I'll check back to see if you have any more questions.

Can I come to the wine tasting and bring a non-alcoholic drink, or a non-wine drink? I hate to admit it, but I'm not a wine drinker. But I know we'd have lots of fun. I could put my whatever drink in a wine glass if it would make you all feel better.....plus, Keith's Mom can't have any alcohol.

Wow! Due to the snow here in NJ this weekend, I've been away from our thread. Lots of pages were added!

Looks like passports are in order!

Is there a Pirate Night? Have the nights been listed somewhere on the DCL site? Thanks!

We'll be flying in the morning of the cruise, so we won't make the pre cruise meet, but we'll see everyone at the sail away!

Someone mentioned about the Bringing the Magic to Disneyland! That's a cute idea. If not t-shirts, at least buttons would be fun.

We're planning to extand our stay too. Going to the Californian hotel for 2 days. It would be fun to wear a T-shirt or button while in the parks there (smile).

It took forever to DIG OUT... had about a foot of snow. Why oh why couldn't this snow have happened today, or tomorrow?!! Call me a kid, but even at almost 51, I still get excited when the radio announces "All State Offices are closed!) :Pinkbounc

I suppose if we are really serious about trying to have one of these events, let's do a quick indication of interest. Let's hear from all of you wine-o's...um, I mean wine connoiseuers, fans, and Boon's Farm fans! If we have enough people, maybe we can get NEM to be our "sponsor" with DCL...[/QUOTE]

Please count us in for the wine tasting. We always travel with a cork screw (never know what wines we might find while shopping). Alex and Carolyn

OK I called the folks at DL to verify everything and here's where it stands...

I will call on the 30-day mark to book the balcony. I'm hoping to get all 21 seats for Saturday, May 28. I'm also going to call (earlier in April) the GC concierge staff to see if they can handle anything for me since we're staying there.

If I can get all 21, I am using 7 of them, so that leaves 14 which obviously doesn't cover our whole DIS group. I'm hoping to get all 21 spots--I figure I will charge it and then everyone can pay me when we get together. By the way, PRICING UPDATE - Disney doesn't want to miss a dime and I double checked the info today, everything is the same except the price is now $53 (or $43 ages 3-9). They must know we are coming.

I will keep everyone up-to-date and let you know if anything changes. PM me if you want to "reserve" a spot. I will message back with the list (and the waiting list??).

There is also the other viewing where there are up to 50 seats available...50 is a big number so I'm taking the little one! :) Another fool will have to coordinate that if there is interest! :)

Still waiting on my email response from PrimeTime, only been a month...will have to converse with them this week, after I pay for my cruise! :)

Yippy! Just had to post that we FINALLY got my parents to commit to a place to stay before boarding the cruise. We're staying at Shades of Green! Woohoo! DH and I stayed there in Oct '03 just before they started the remodel and really liked it there. Since then, DH has gotten out of the military and now we can only stay there if we go with my parents, which we will be doing on this trip! Yay!!!

Now we just need to finish booking the rental car for getting out to the port and the van service to get to LAX once we dock. Oh, and the excursions of course!

Count Robert and I in also. Not drinkers, but we go for the great company and the opportunity to meet many new friends!

Also,

HUGE, BIG THANK YOU TO STACEY!!!!!She and her family are totally awesome and did many things above and beyond to make our 10 day Christmas Cruise the best.

We can also chip in if needed for the cheese to go with the whine. I mean...wine! No whiners allowed at our parties!

If we have a manageable group we could do it in a larger stateroom with a balcony. that's what we did in 2003 on Royal Carribean. We did it at 4 p.m. the day we went through the Panama Canal. It actually ended up being a perfect time because we had been through all of the locks but the last one and there wasn't anything really happening until we went through the last lock. One of the couples did a vow renewal in the stateroom also. They had concierge service and they had brought extra glasses and everything to the room.

Okay, that's my two cents worth!

I don't want to burst anyone's bubble here, we are on the eastbound and I'm planning the wine tasting there. I got the list from Disney today for food and it's not just a few dollars each. You cannot bring room service to the clubs without being charged for it. Disney policy. Deck 7 aft cannot be used except for vow renewals and weddings. Deck 9 and 10 cannot be used either because of the other cruisers. About the cheapest I can do the food will be $3.00 per person with cheese only. Any desserts, snacks or other hor d'oeuvres start at a minimum of $7 per person. It's not discouraging us yet, but just thought you'd like to know.

Hey Guys and Gals, Do you think there will be a rush for the excursions at the 90 day availablity mark???

When we went on the 10 day Christmas Cruise most of the excursions were sold out before we ever got on board. It was because over 1,100 passengers were repeat cruisers and knew about booking before they got on board. I kept telling our "grown" kids that they needed to book their excursions. They procrastinated, and then when they were on the ship everything they wanted to do was not available. We are having alot of repeat cruisers on the PC cruise according to what the cruise director told me on the Christmas cruise.

Now, most people don't know that Disney changed from the 60 days to 90 days, so I think we are okay at first. However, I would sure get them booked ASAP, even if you think you might cancel. Remember, they don't charge you until we go and you can cancel a couple of days before without penalty.

Just my two cents worth (and then some)!

I agree with Linda, I'm not taking any chances. Even though I don't need to be paid in full until the 60 day mark, I will be paid up and ready to book at 90 days. Though to put things in perspective, most of the excursions we did on the 10-day were not booked up and we almost always had people that said they had just booked the day before. DH and I tend to do the more physical excursions, like mountain biking, kayaking, etc. I guess those are less popular?

You all have been very busy here! I go away and come back to 13 pages! I've been in Florida enjoying the 75+ degree weather for two days, then...it turned quite cold there. DARN! My flights on Sunday were canceled back to New York, so I had to stay another day down there! LOL What a mess I came back to though. I can't wait to stay down there permanently! The good new is, ground breaking will be on February 1st, and my superintendent said without delays, my new home should be ready in August! Whoo Hoo!

Ken, if you haven't seen La Nouba yet, you are really in for a treat! I've seen it twice and it is amazing!

Scott, your comment about Boons Farm Wine brings back a lot of memories! We would get adults to buy the apple wine for us in High School!

Whoever is doing the list for the wine party onboard, please add me to the list. DD may also tag along? I doubt Connecticut has a wine, but I have a bottle of home made wine my boss gave me which I will save and bring along. I have no problem paying the $10.00 or whatever for the food. Sounds like a good time meeting all my DIS friends.

MEB51, my sister might be on this cruise, and her DD is 13. Long story, but I won't be talking to my sister before the cruise, and she wanted nothing to do with the message board. You don't have to be paid in full to book your excursions. A couple of people on the 10 day cruise had to call back 2 or 3 times in order to get the right person so they could book their excursions, because the CM's weren't clear either. they finally "talked to a supervisor" and got their excursions booked without being paid in full. (I did the same thing). Make sure to ask them to FAX you a confirmation of your excursions.

One of our kids tried to book the pirate excursion in St. Lucia a week before, with no luck. The kids got first in line before the shore excursion desk opened on that Sat., but they didn't open any additional spots and they were first on the waiting list for either the morning or afternoon, but never did get to go. Somewhere I read that they are going to have an online option for booking...has anyone heard that?

On 2 other DCL cruises we have never done an excursion, I take it that we just call or fax the excursions that we are interested in. If you fax it, are you able to get a confirmation?

Lastly, when/if we ever get the booklet from DCL, will it list the time for the excursions?

Thanks for any help!! This is getting more and more exciting!

OK - We've been talking about the wine tasting party for a while now. It appears that lots of people are interested. If we need someone to spearhead this adventure, I (along with DW Shari) will be happy to take on the responsibility. We will continue to collect names of interested people and at the same time contact DCL and make some arrangements for space and munchies.

I'm thinking that Monday (the first sea day) at 4:00pm would be a good time to hold this party. Any other suggestions? It seems like a good time and it's early in the cruise so everyone can continue to put faces with names.

If anyone else would like to take on this project, it's fine with me. But I think it's time for someone to step up and take charge!! (just kidding, but we will be happy to do it)

MICKEY&JOSHNUT - I think there are a lot of people extending their vacation at DL, and staying at the Grand Californian Hotel. We are excited and are planning to fill up every second with fun things to do!

As far as excursions and prepaying... we booked the cruise with Dreams Unlimited. Their policy is we must pay in full before booking excursions. THis may not be the case if you booked directly with DCL, but for us, I want to pay up at least a week before 2/14 so Dreams can note that we've paid, and forward that info to DCL, so when we book our excursions there will be no confusion.

I just printed out all the excursions listed on the Dreams site... choices, choices!

I think the fax lines and the phone lines will be humming on Valentines Day. For the amount of $$$ spent and the first cruise of this type for Disney, I think there will be some serious cruisers on board. Perhaps they won't want to do excursions, but, if they do, I don't think they'll be waiting to book. If there's something you may want to do, I would book it as soon as possible, and not wait for those reserved for check-in.

Back to work! :badpc:

I know I am going to forget Valentines day, 2/14, while on our trip. Will have to remember to put a valentine for Lynn in my sea bag. Note to self.....

Ken, let me know if you need help. I have a running list of about 40 people so far. Sorry I didn't jump in sooner, got home and just couldn't face the computer last night. I feel bad now...I am more than happy to work on this since I'm the one that brought up the wine party for this group. Just let me know.

Yes, I noticed you over on that board Scott. I've just been lurking occasionally. Got to keep my priorities straight. I am sure Mary and Mark are keeping it going strong though, so I figure if I need something critical she will PM me about it!

Don "Ducky" Williams is going to be on that cruise also and is doing another special litho from what he was saying. That will give me 3 limited litho's in less than one year. If I keep it up I am going to have to devote a room in our house for his artwork!

June 1 I can focus on that thread!

Hi all!

Just dropping back in to tell you a little bit about us. Ron and I are from PA, outside of Philadelphia. He works for the Dept of Agriculture and I work for a pharmaceutical company. We’ve been DVC members since 1997, at OKW and VWL. This will be our third DCL cruise, did a 3 day in 98 and a 4 day in 2000. We’ve been married 28 years, no kids, and just renewed our vows at Disney World last May, which was a blast! I am really looking forward to this cruise. Since we are traveling alone, it will be nice to have some “friends” to talk to! We’d definitely love to join the wine tasting! Can’t wait to meet you all!

OK - We've been talking about the wine tasting party for a while now. It appears that lots of people are interested.
I'm thinking that Monday (the first sea day) at 4:00pm would be a good time to hold this party. Any other suggestions? It seems like a good time and it's early in the cruise so everyone can continue to put faces with names.

Bonzie1 - we also are extending our trip to include a stay at the Grand Californian Hotel. Originally we were planning on 2 nights but decided last night to extend it to 3 nights. I'm so excited, I can't wait.

Since I'm relatively new to this cruise & forum (it's taking some time to catch up on the previous 175 pages!!) but I'm assuming there are going to be a few of us extending our vacations at Disneyland. How many people are going to Disneyland after and are you getting a Disney shuttle to the Resorts?

Cash and I will be taking the DCL shuttle from the port to the GC but, as we're staying at the Tropicana for 10 days following the cruise, I'll have to schlep my bags from the GC to the Tropicana somehow because the DCL shuttle doesn't go to the Good Neighbor resorts... This is going to be SUCH fun...and I get to see my family in So. California as well.....

Okay, headed home to look over the list DH said he marked up for excursions for the two of us. He said "Don't you think you oughta look on the internet and see if you can find other stuff at those ports also and what the prices are?"

I said sure, but I'm booking the first day what we most likely want to do and then we can cancel if we change our mind. Better safe than sorry!

As soon as everyone starts narrowing down their choices for each port, we need to post what we are doing to get an idea of what we are all looking at booking.

Disney has started a pirate theme night. Lots of people dressed up as pirates for dinner and the deck party afterwards. The costumes ranged from casual tropical to all out Captain Hook. Our very own seaulater and her family were all (all 13) decked out in home made pirate outfits. Maybe, if we are real nice, she will post a picture of the pirates from Utah.

They even had special menus (designed like a pirate treasure map) that everyone got to take home.

It's hard to say which night it will be for the repo.

We have gotten a few pirate items to wear. It is going to be soooo much fun!

I am researching the excursions and think that we have narrowed them down. So far, it looks like we may spend time on the ship in Mazatlan. And Cabo, the place we spend the least amount of time, there are a few things I want to do!

(it's Not as if I'm anxious or anything!)

Ugh! So sorry about your roof!! Hope all goes well and it's too expensive!

Unfortunately, knowing what nights will be themed, formal, semi-formal, etc. is like pulling teeth with DCL. They don't decide these things until about 30 days before sailing (if the first 10-day was any indication), so you just kind of have to guess. Of course, as we get rumors out of DCL, people will always post those.

Brunches and high-tea are always set for days at sea. And the themed party nights seem to always be days when we've been in port, if I remember correctly. Hint: don't do brunch or hightea on the same day or the next morning after a night at Palo - you may cursplode! :crowded:

Hope this helps a little. Trust me, you will have a good time no matter when you have your massages, dinner at Palo, and all that.

Wow, skip a few days and miss a lot here!

Another huge THANK YOU to DU for sponsoring the wine tasting.

We're not big wine drinkers - but DH and I would love to stop in and say hello. We could bring along some Rattlesnake Red.
;)
Actually, I think there are a few local places trying to get away from the touristy, cowboy wines. I'll have to check it out.

I feel a bit out of my element with all you planners on this thread, but you've convinced me to take a look at the excursions. Sounds like it would be a good idea to get our top choices in early.

First I have to get a place to stay booked for this weekend. See, I'm really not one to plan in advance. I had not been to DL for months - now this weekend will be the second time this month.

:earsgirl:

Yo, AZ, if it's not too much trouble could you take a look at where the Tropicana is (highwaywise) in relation to DL? I'm think I'm going to have to scooter over there from the DL Hotel Grand Californian towing my baggage cart behind and, although they say that it's next door they don't say in what context: crow flies, forced march? I located an aerial view and it looks like there's a huge honking freeway that separates the two.... I'll have to save my pennies for a cab...Will a cab go such a small distance?.....
I'll understand if you can't get around to it...Whether DL or WDW, the most important thing is PLAYTIME.....

Thanks to DU!!! That is totally awesome. We had lots of non-wine drinkers at our 10 day wine tasting party. It was such great fun. Took lots of pictures and had great conversations. It also gave us a chance to meet up with some of our other dis friends who we didn't get a chance to hook up with at the pre-sail away party.

Okay, next post, attempt at pirate picture!

Okay, here goes:

http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v488/seaulater/disney/dcl169.jpg

Pirate Night was my very favorite night of the whole cruise. We all had gotten pirate names beforehand here on the internet. Okay, I'll find some of the sites and post them here so everyone can get a pirate name. As you can see under my signature my pirate name is Grainne O'Malley Goldheart. Robert (DH) is Kidd the Cutthroat.

Oh--here are a couple of sites to go get your pirate name gangstaname.com and www.fidius.org/quiz/pirate.php You can also do a google search "pirate names" and get about 560,000 sites to go to.

I started out by just making pants and skirts, and then it just grew from there. Our whole family ended up getting dressed up. DCL had pirate bandanas when you sat down to dinner that evening. I had made tent cards with everyone's pirate name at their place at the table and our servers were only allowed to call us by our pirate names that night. They had a great time.

I had talked to guest services that morning first thing and told them I had to have a family picture with Captain Hook and Mr. Smee. They talked to whomever handles those things. First the CM said, well, they will be out at 6 p.m. in two different places. I said, well you don't understand. There are 13 of us and we all have pirate costumes and we want a family picture with them and we eat dinner at 6 p.m. Within an hour the CM had left a message in my stateroom with the instructions to meet Captain Hook, Mr. Smee and the ships photographer with my family at 10 minutes to 6 for our professional picture. They were awesome about it! Thanks to the CM and DCL!

All the items on the dinner menu had a pirate flair to them. (including Jack Sparrow). All of the servers were dressed up. Captain Hook visited the dining room while we were there. Then the servers did a little entertainment "surprise" and then grabbed some of the kids and adults dressed up like pirates to join them.

We then headed to our after dinner stuff (whatever that was) and then headed to the pirate deck party at the appointed time (9:45 or so?). DCL did a show out there and then an awesome fireworks show. Food, pictures, dancing. It was very well attended. AND if you were dressed up like a pirate you might just get pulled into the show up on the deck.

Okay, so everyone go get your pirate name, start sharing, and have a great day. Aarrgh Matey!!!!

I'd like to find some for a project my neice has come up with for her geriatric group....She was talking about her busy bee crafters and I had this brainy idea...Now I can't for the life of me find a supplier and I think it's because I don't know what they're called for the purposes of a search....

We Also Thought Pirate night was the Best ..
Having Seen Fireworks on the Magic along time ago ..

As I Stood there on deck 10 IN AWE.. I looked at Jenn And Said
the only thing that would make this deck Party Better .. Is If They Shot off The fireworks From The Stack ... Like they use to..
Actually Thought They would do it ... Since it Was New, Thought it might Be part of the show Was Not at the very Begining..
Glad it is Now.. And we deserve 2 nights with fireworks.. :)

I also hear that they are putting the finishing touches on a New Show.
Coming out For the May cruises.. No More Herc..

<div style="position:relative; border:1px #320 solid; background-color:#c9b390; padding:0 10px; width:400px; text-align:center; font-family:serif; left:50%; margin:25px 0 25px -200px; color:#320;">

<div style="font-size:32px;">
Captain Mary Flint
</div>
<img src="flag.gif" style="top:5px; position:relative; display:block; width:100px; background-color:#320;" />
<div style="left:110px; top:-60px; width:290px; position:relative; text-align: justify;">
Even though there's no legal rank on a pirate ship, everyone recognizes you're the one in charge. Like the rock flint, you're hard and sharp. But, also like flint, you're easily chipped, and sparky. Arr!

Will definitely try and do a drive-by and report back.
I normally have DH drive and I do the directing... but it's a girls only trip this time, so we'll see how that goes.
They've changed the area around the resorts so much, I'm never sure exactly where I am anymore.

The pirate crew looks great!
I showed my 17 year year old DD and she said it was awesome and she thought it would be fun to dress up. :faint:
She's a huge Orlando Bloom/Johnny Depp Pirates movie fan, but I was still surprised that she would even consider dressing up.
So thanks for sharing Linda oops, I mean Grainne Goldheart! pirate:

So, I found a babysitter for my babies. I'm flying out a friend from St. Louis to come stay at the house with the doggies. Lucky I found a good solution to that big problem!

Did I miss something? Is Jindy still on this voyage with us? I miss seeing her posts! And now that I'm out of 'lurkdom', I'm on the lookout for 8 year old girls! :cheer2:

Anyone have any info on the Seahorse Snorkel Adventure on C.Cay? Is this new? I'm wondering if it'd be better since you're going out somewhere?

Have a great night all!
