Linnie The Pooh
02-09-2008, 05:48 PM
I turned 40 this year. Kind of a milestone. So we were talking about what we should do for my 40th. Before I get too much further, for those of you who are new, I’ll introduce ourselves.
Me: Linnie, 40, I don’t really know how to describe myself. I’m pretty quirky. Other than that, I don’t really know so I’ll just tell you some things I like. I like crocheting and doing crafts, but mostly crocheting. I like to play the piano and have played since I was 9. I love to read books and learn things. ;)
Buzz: my DH of 14 years. He’s 41 years old. He’s kind of loud, boisterous and a real go getter. Everything I’m not so I guess you could say that opposites attract. In our case, it’s worked for us. I think we’re in it for the long haul. We’re pretty compatible and seem to be the zig when the other zags. :cool2:
Trey: our 8 year little boy, aka Moan Boy. He has a neurological disability that is similar to autism. It primarily affects his communication ability. He’s very sweet and cuddly and loves to be snuggled with. He loves Super Mario and is a whiz at playing that game. :cloud9:
LeeAndra: our 6 year old little girl, aka Loud Girl. She’s a shy, quiet child when outside of the house, but at home, she’s quite loud and outspoken. She’s excellent at gymnastics and playing soccer. She loves Super Mario too and is very good at playing, but the ghost houses and castles still scare her a little bit. :cutie:
We love Disney and always do a Disney World trip in the fall. We’re DVC members and live for these trips! It really helps Trey to make progress for some reason and we just have a great time in Florida!
So --for Buzz’s 40th last year, we had a party. It was a lot of fun. When we started discussing mine, I had no idea what I wanted to do. I didn’t really want a party-I guess I’m not much of a party person. I don’t like being the center of attention so we started thinking of other options.
We live in Montana so we thought of going snowmobiling. That is awesome. We went for our honey moon and that was the last time I’d gone. Excellent idea. However, due to our little Moan Boy’s disability, he doesn’t like to go outside after dark during non-Daylight Savings Time hours. During DST, he’s fine, but during the fall, winter and early spring, forget it. Half of the fun of snowmobiling is taking the night runs. Also a huge concern, what if the kids hate it? Then we’re stuck in a hotel room for a week doing nothing because there is nothing to do in the place we snowmobile except snowmobile. We nixed that idea. Too many variables and unknowns.
Option number 2-something we used to do when our DD was first born. Drive to Disneyland!! We did this after 9/11 as I was too afraid to fly and really didn’t want to bring a baby and a toddler on the plane. Trey was quite challenging at that point and DD was sooo little. Buzz is no help with babies and I didn’t want to get on a flying tube in the sky only to have them freak out for several hours with me frantically trying to pacify them. So we drove to DL instead of flying to WDW.
We have very fond memories of our 2 trips to DL. DD even took her first steps on our first trip to DL. We had a really good time on both trips. Only snag this time is, again, Moan Boy. He needs to know how much time until something is over or until the next event is. I don’t want to drive from Montana to California listening to him constantly asking how much time til we get to the next hotel. Idea nixed.
Back to the party idea. We looked at a few options. Nixed. Not into it. :sad2:
It is now November 2007 and I am 2 months away from the big 40. Buzz’s mom and her husband are in town and I’m chatting with Buzz while they’re out walking about our neighborhood. They’re awesome people btw! So, I mentioned the kids get a spring break this year-something that hasn’t happened in our school district in awhile. Buzz was going to be out of town that week. Geeeeez. I said, “I don’t want to be stuck at home for a week with the kids. Maybe I’ll take them somewhere.” Then I said in a very offhand fashion, “Why don’t we FLY to Disneyland? Could you get out of your trip?” Buzz loved the idea and spent the rest of the day making arrangements! He got out of his trip and made arrangements for ours!!
So we’re on our way to Disneyland!! I made the countdown chart. It’s our tradition. I make a countdown chart every year-it’s become a great way to alert Trey to how many days are left until our trip. He is a little resistant to the idea of another trip. He loves school and would rather be there. This is also a first for us. He usually hates school, but this year, he has a great teacher that likes him-in fact she said the whole school enjoys Trey. Awesome!
Loud Girl-well, she’s always up for an adventure. Especially after I told her I’d get her a Sponge Bob game for her Game Boy. She’s in. And she’s the one putting stickers on the countdown everyday. She’s a very take-charge type of girl. :thumbsup2
Buzz and I are definitely excited for this trip. I really don’t know the details of it. My job is to just pack for me and the kids and be ready by the date Buzz tells me. I do know we’re staying at the Disney’s Grand Californian and we think we’ll have an awesome time!!
I usually start packing 2 months before our trips, but I haven't packed a dog gone thing yet. Haven't even got the suitcases out. We're 24 days out right now so I better git crackin'. :yay:

Sheesh, DM am I going to have explain my posts to you on this thread?! What I meant was we kicked around all those ideas for all of last year and "It's now November" as in we were talking about my b-day in November, but in reality when I wrote that it was January. Sorry for the confusion, I'll try not to be such a fancy writer in the future! J/K. I'm listening to Buzz squeak his way through Guitar Hero. Gets me a little on edge. :scared:

Dude, I'm late! But I'm here.
The November after 9/11 we flew from NYC to Las Vegas. We weren't scared or anything, since security was so tight. My BIL had been in the twin towers that day, and he was flying with us. he said, if he had been neant to die, it would have been that day, so we were fine. Fuzzy logic, but it worked to clam the hysterical lady down who was sitting next to him on the plane. :lmao:

Did you make yourself another one? The drive is long b/c we do it in 6 hour intervals. We stay at West Yellowstone the first night, Provo the second, Vegas the third, then we drive in the 4th day. I'm not up to that-especially with Trey constantly asking how much time is left.
Hey LtP,
Glad to see you started your report.
You guys made the right choice for your birthday.
Have you guys seen the Grand California before?
What airport are you guys flying into?
Buzz said the airport is Ontario. We've never seen the GC before. We are thinking of buying DVC points. I got an inheritance from my grandma and I am very resistant to spending any of it, but would spend it on this if we like it. I'm pretty sure we will like it-it sounds amazing!! This might be a new tradition for us every spring.
Woohoo it's started, I've never read a DL TR so this will be great :yay:
I hope it will be good. This is my first TR that I've done by myself ever.
Count me in on this report. I have never been to DL. We plan on going with some friends of ours in a couple of years. I'll be taking notes.popcorn::
I told Buzz I'll need to take notes for the TR. I have such a poor memory. I'll have to use his lap top or something. We used to take notebooks, but I'd get a sore wrist from all that writing.

The Matterhorn was closed when we went last time because there was an accident and someone died on it. So I've never ridden it but if it isn't closed this time, we're all going on it. What happened if I remember right, was someone got off the ride and crushed between cars or something. I love their POTC there-I think there's a restaurant in there isn't there? I'd love to eat there. POTC always makes me hungry for tacos b/c in WDW it's right across from that taco place.

I actually joined the DIS in 1997 but they reset it in 1999 so I had to join again. I've been coming here for 11 years!
It used to be called DisneyInfo.com. They changed to wdwinfo.com in 99.
Our first trip together was in 97 and I was researching hard.
As many times as I've been, I still don't know very much. Wassup wit dat? :scratchin:

Thanks for the compliments of our linen set. Buzz picked it out. We actually bought an extra set so if this one wears out, we'll have a back up! That Buzz-always thinking.
I didn't crawl in with him-I should've, but I'm too immature to think of something like that!
I ran out of the room giggling, trying not to wake him up. Pleased with myself that I took his picture while he was sleeping. I'm pretty childish! I like to think that it just adds to the magic that is Linnie!!

I turned 40 this year. Kind of a milestone. So we were talking about what we should do for my 40th.
I'm looking forward to freedom 45
We live in Montana so we thought of going snowmobiling. That is awesome.
I love it too. One winter, in the evening, I took the snowmobile out for a ride by myself on a trail in the bush. I went off the track and the stupid machine got stuck. It was so heavy and I had a very hard time lifting it out of the rut. Hooboy...it was a very scary scary moment for me :scared1:
Never went alone in the bush again. :sad2:
“Why don’t we FLY to Disneyland? Could you get out of your trip?” Buzz loved the idea and spent the rest of the day making arrangements! He got out of his trip and made arrangements for ours!!
:woohoo: Best 40th Birthday present that I can think of!!!!!
Awesome!
Can't wait to see the chart :upsidedow
Happy to hear Trey is enjoying school this year
I usually start packing 2 months before our trips, but I haven't packed a dog gone thing yet. Haven't even got the suitcases out. We're 24 days out right now so I better git crackin'. :yay:

We've never seen the GC before.
Ontario and No we've never stayed there.
Ontario is supposed to be a good airport, I have never been there.
It is a bit farther then LAX
I think the two best airports for Disneyland are John Wayne or Long Beach
All three hotels "On Property" are really nice, the Grand California would be my pick :thumbsup2

Here's a picture of my room from a year ago.
http://i195.photobucket.com/albums/z237/HomeschoolMama23/100_2078.jpg
It's one of the last rooms to be decorated since I can shut the door. I want to paint, but I need to add doors to the "school closet" (an exercise room off my room), so if I paint, it won't match when I have that done. I also want to cut the sheetrock in my bathroom and get rid of the "water closet". The door's right behind the door to the bathroom and they'll get the handles stuck if someone comes in while you're on the potty. What a pain! I plan to cut it and make a half wall between the potty and sinks. And, all this takes money. Money we spent on a trip to Disney... :confused3
Anyway, love the comforter, but I'm getting it dry cleaned b/c the puppy sleeps on it every night. I'd rather replace it with something that's washable.

Then I told him I liked the linens and that Buzz picked them out (and an extra set), he said maybe Buzz should host the The Girly Man Report. :cutie: Then he said "He must have picked out the extra set early in the marriage when there was hope of wearing out the sheets. Every man knows the longer you've been married there's less of a chance to wear out sheets." and then he whimpered a bit.
:lmao: :rotfl2: Nah, I added the whimpering thing... haha!!!
I was trying to change a light bulb the other day in recessed lighting. I just can't do it-my fingers are too fat. I told Buzz I needed his dainty girly hands for that job! :rotfl: He didn't like that!
Hi. I am lurking on many TRs and PTRs. Nothing interesting to say, recently. :sad2:
:goodvibes
Linnie finishing her report in a reasonable amount of time 8/1
Buzz EVER finishing his report from october (day 3 of 12 so far) 500/1
Oh yea, and David Cass. is a TINY little dude. I knew him several years ago. He owned a couple of race horses. I used to go sit with him and watch the races. Nice guy, but I need a big man. Like hubby 6'2, 265lbs. And all Canadian.
He is little-I could tell at Epcot. I need a big guy too-I could never be with a guy that I could beat up. That happpened in high school. My boyfriend was a skinny little thing and for some reason, I thought it was funny to take him down in a hold. He hated it. :confused3 He was such a wimp. Buzz, not so much...
 Hey! What's wrong with having a talent for picking out color and design? Why is that a skill only woman should have!
It's okay Buzz, you go shop for sheets anytime you want. The higher thread count the better.
It's gud that Buzz has one talent, I guess.
No way! That's not what I said. Don't try and get me into trouble. :headache:
And, all this take smoney. Money we spent on a trip to Disney... :confused3
Anyway, love the comforter, but I'm getting it dry cleaned b/c the puppy sleeps on it every night. I'd rather replace it with something that's washable.
Just spend the money on Disney!! :thumbsup2
Buzz has color issues??? Ohgosh. You should've seen when we first got together-some of the get ups he be wearing!! :clown:

I know, between the dog bills and Disney, there's no $ left for modifications to the house. We didn't build our house. Luckily, someone else built it and didn't come through with the financing, because K was given 3 weeks to relocate here. :scared1: There were only 3 houses ready to move in with 4 bedrooms. This was our dream house other than the bedroom fixes we would have done and the horrid tan tile they put onthe Master bath walls. They put really nice tile on the floor, I don't know why they didn't take it up the walls. :confused3We plan on doing that too.
I would love to change out my appliances to black or stainless someday, but I'm not going to do it as long as they are perfectly good. We've only been here 1.5 yrs and I really do love this house/lot/neighborhood. We lucked out!

HSM-be warned-stainless appliances and children do not mix!! Ours have noticeable scratches on them and constantly have finger prints on them. It drives me nuts! I did find a pretty good cleaner. It's Pledge in a white can (I think it's multi surface). I could use it everyday. :sad2: Trey's got the grubbiest hands!!

I agree with Linnie... just spend the money on Disney! Who needs a nice-looking house? As long as you can live there and it's warm in the winter and cool in the summer, it's good enough. There's a lot of things I'd change in our house, but I'd rather spend my money elsewhere -- like saving it for Disney!

Maybe I should tell DH to go with black then. :confused3 I'm sick of cleaning the white, that's for sure.
He's planning on replacing my cooktop (with burners) with one with glass (easier to clean  ) and wants to know which color to get. I'll have to call and change my "order" with him.

I know... But houses are my thing. This is where I spend all day and night, really.
I love Disney and want to go back in a few years, but I also want to go other places too. I know everyone thinks I'm crazy for that, but I want to incorporate trips with the kids' education. I'm hoping for the Ren Faire and Aquarium this next school year with Washington DC in a few years when we study American history again. :teacher:

I can understand that. We lived in Washington, DC when we were first married. I actually did my graduate work there at GWU. We moved right before DD6 was born. We've been back once since then, but I know I'll want to take the girls back when they're a bit older.

Thanks everyone. The whole house was designed and really done by Buzz. I picked out the front door, roof shingles and the bricks. All exterior stuff. That's all Buzz trusted me with. Actually, I cannot visualize anything so I really did NOT want anything to do with choosing colors & such.
The best part I like about my bathroom is the big huge garden tub. That's what they called it when they put it in-a garden style tub but to me, it doesn't have anything to do with a garden. It's one with the jets and all that. I love putting the kids to bed, making Buzz go downstairs (or on the DIS), shutting the door, lighting the candles, drawing a bubble bath, sipping some wine, then tear into shaving my legs before I do some power relaxing. Kind of killed the mood didn't I?!! Yeah, couldn't resist that.
Remember the experiments Buzz was doing while on vacation? Well I did one where I was trying to see how long I could go without shaving my legs. The experiment started in December and ended just before I turned 40 last month. Let's just say I had to use some powerful Drano to clear that drain out. :confused3 TMH-Too Much Hair

Can we assume that some of those cookies are for LG or MB's school classes?? We're not allowed to bring any food in whatsoever (other than lunch). In fact, when they sent home the instructions for valentines, they made sure to point out that "no candy is allowed." Our school system is overly hyper about the allergies, etc. I like to remember back when I was in school when school parties had all kinds of homemade goodies...

Uh, sure, yeah, they were for school.... Actually, they started off to be, but my kids ate too many and we didn't have enough for both classes. Some didn't turn out so they went to waste. Long story. I'm just dumb sometimes. Last night Trey kept sneaking them after he went up stairs to bed. My rule is no eating after they brush their teeth and 3 times he snuck down and stole a cookie so he had to brush his teeth a lot last night! HE's a cookie monster, that one.

Here's a special HAPPY VALENTINES DAY wish to all the mom's out there making things special for their kids. (That includes you Linnie. )
What a great mom!! And thank you, Happy Valentine's Day to all my DIS friends. :cutie:
Oh and I got my suitcase out and started putting stuff in it. I can't find LA's swimming suit from last year. :confused3 I'm bummed b/c she looked so cute in it, but she's got a cute orange one that'll work too. It was just a neat looking suit on her. I suggested to Buzz we take an empty suitcase for souveniers! He liked that idea, but it absolutely cracked my mom up!
Two years ago when my grandma was dying of cancer, my aunt was up here to visit. She told her daughter to come up too so she flew up a few days later and her instructions were to bring 2 suitcases-both empty and put the smaller one inside the larger one so she only has to carry one. That's all she brought! Nothing else! And she was here several days. She did go out to Goodwill and buy some clothes. She said she just didn't think about bringing anything. :confused3 My mom thinks she's got mental problems.
Anyway, my mom was teasing me about taking an empty suitcase to put things in-just like my aunt & cousin did. I told her my suitcase will not be used to loot an old dying woman's house. They'll be for things we BUY!! :rolleyes1
I'm starting to get excited! We got our tickets and little folder thingy-we even got Mickey luggage tags!!

Yeah, it's pretty short. It probably is our shortest one-although last spring's was really short like this too.
Buzz came home today and commented that the snow had pretty much melted. Guess what!! It's totally snowing outside. Big huge flakes and the ground is covered. It looks gorgeous outside. LA and I had the front door open and she was catching the "snow flags" as she calls them. Then she asked who makes it snow? I have no willpower, and have been tweaking the "Fuzzydisneymath" all morning. :(
On the plus side, my car was 600.00 cheaper to fix than I was quoted. I think the mechanic eventually felt sorry for me, as they had it 19 days.

Reading through TR's and talking about Disney just makes us want to go more. I'm glad I had the DL idea to get us our Disney fix so we didn't have to wait a whole year before going again. Some people think we're crazy for liking Disney so much, but I figure there are 2 kinds of people in the world:
Those who "get" Disney and Those who don't. I only know of one other person that "gets" it like we do (Not counting Dis'ers). My cousin in Wyoming. She and her DH get it. Sometimes we wish we had people to go with that get it and she's the only one I know of who would go and "get" it. But she's probably out because when Buz and I were dating, she didn't like him and threatened to beat him up. She could do it too. She's one tough woman. Ever since then, Buzz hasn't liked her. :confused3
Today-I'm going to make sure our new headphones for our portable DVD player work.
Get out the back packs. Clean 'em out. Sometimes I find little things left in there from our previous trip that I miss when I put them away. Last fall, in one of the side pockets I found a bunch of smashed pretzels. Yuck.
Look at the kids DVD's and note which ones they have so this week I can go buy them some new ones and not duplicates of what they already have.
I've thrown some more things in the suitcase-we're getting ready. I need a new camera. Mine is an old one and it's huge and weighs a ton. Buzz has a nice one, but he's always got it with him. I think I'll go shopping this week and see what I can come up with. Any suggestions? I don't want to pay a fortune, but want a fairly decent one.

I have to say, LeeAndra is one of the funniest people I've ever encountered in my life. And not just because she's my daughter. She's just hilarious. I used to call my dad all the time and tell him about the funny things she did b/c he just loved it and he'd just roar. He had a huge laugh and loved to hear about his granddaughter.
My parents have 4 grandkids-3 boys and 1 girl. One day, my nephew asked my dad, "How come LeeAndra gets to do whatever she wants and doesn't get in trouble??" And my dad's response was, "Because she's the only girl!"
She was the apple of his eye. Buzz thinks she reminded him of me and that's probably true.
I'm racking my brain to think of the other funny things she says, but I just can't think of any right now. My MIL said to me once, "You must just laugh all day long." And I do. It's great! :cloud9:

02-18-2008, 11:46 PM
I thought of one but this might not come across as funny as it actually was at the time. A few years ago, I was in the garage doing something and LA was in bed. She'd gotten up and found me and said (she was totally serious), "Mom, I went to sleep last night and the Sleeping Germs got me!!" I said, "The what???" She says, "The Sleeping Germs. I went to bed and woke up with Sleeping Germs all over me." Apparently she'd been playing outside before she went to bed and had been splashing in the mud. She had little mud dots all over her legs. She thought they were the Sleeping Germs, whatever those are.
She thinks the germs inside her tell her what to do-like when she hungry, it's the germs telling her to eat. Or if her tummy hurts, it's the germs fighting with each other. I have no idea where this all came from. Sometimes the germs are tired and she has to go to bed. I don't think she really quite understands what germs actually are! ;)

That's a great one, Linnie. My DDs say things like that all the time too, but I always forget to write them down. The one thing I do remember is that DD4 used to call ketchup, chep-pup. It was so cute to hear her say it. I almost didn't want her to say it right, because it meant she was growing up.
DD4 had her 4 year well child checkup on Friday and she's finally started growing! She's 39 inches now, so we're hoping that she'll grow that final inch before October so that she can ride Soarin'. It was horrible last year when she couldn't. I guess I can always get her some good shoes....

It's a Toshiba that Buzz got at Costco. It seems to work ok. We had gotten one from there-an off brand and it broke the first time we used it. Of course that was in WDW. I was so crabby about it. Buzz took it back and got this one instead. So far it's held up on 2 trips, going on 3 in a few weeks.
I've started packing the backpacks. I found some books on sale at Shopko-I didn't know kids books ever went on sale!! :confused3 I also got Trey a Nike coat that was half off for next year and some new Nike tennies that were $10 for next year. That's my strategy-I see things on sale and buy them for the future. One year I found winter coats marked down to $5. I got LA 2 of them and saved them until she fit them which was this winter. :thumbsup2
Chep -pup. That's cute! :cutie: Buzz doesn't like it when I don't correct the kids. I just think it sounds so cute when they mispronounce things. LA was calling Bart Simpson "Bark." I couldn't tell her his name was really Bart. Buzz did though.
And every time it snows Trey looks outside and says, "It's snowman outside." Really ticks Buzz off that I let hiim say that after all these years. Hey-I'm just happy he's actually talking and it's clear!! There was a time when I worried that he'd never talk clearly or even at all.

Linnie, where are you planning to eat so far? I remember you said something about Blue Bayou, right?
I'll have to get back to you on this- I'm not really sure where we are eating. Basically, Buzz plans everything and I pack for myself and the kids and get us ready to go on time. That's the extent of my part! I'll find out this weekend.
It's been a long week. Trey got sick earlier in the week and I had to go get him from school. He missed his little social group that he's a part of. :sad1: He is now able to tell me he's sick so that's really cool. Last year he couldn't do that. Now he'll say, "I sick." or "I coughing" whatever it may be.
He's been doing really well lately. He told me the other night, "I eating chicken strips." and I said, "Yes you are" so he follows up with "I eating chicken strips in the music room." Uh, he was. The funny thing was he told on himself. The rule is they eat at our island bar or in the kitchen-no where else. I think he wanted me to know he was breaking the rules.
Today he got on the bus and said, "What's up Bob?" to the bus driver and he's been saying hello and greeting everyone at school. He's even been asking me, "How's ya doing Mommy?" It's a little garbly, but I know he's asking me "How ya doing?"
He's really worried about Buzz right now because Buzz is super sick with the flu (see his TR- The Man Report) so he just went up to him and said, "Hello Daddy. Smile Dadddy." He tries to get people to smile if he thinks they're mad or down. These are all just minor things for most parents but for us it's miraculous. He couldn't do any of this a year ago! :goodvibes
I threw some more stuff in the suitcase, but it's a little too early to start packing clothes. I don't know what the weather is going to be like yet. I'm definitely packing a jacket. :headache:
That's about all for now. I hope we don't catch Buzz's flu. Good grief. I've never seen that guy so sick!! He scared me yesterday with a high fever so I took him to the doctor. :scared: He's got a mask to wear around us so we don't catch it.

Linnie,
I don't post much on the Man Report but want you to know that I follow your family like my favorite soap opera!
You are such a fun and loving family.
I'm so happy to hear that Trey is making such wonderful progress at expressing himself! Hooray. I'm sure that has a lot to do with having such loving and proactive parent advocates.
I am hoping Buzz is much better and that you and LG don't get sick!
I am a teacher, and I feel that I have been put in an environment of bugs that are out to get everyone in their path. We had 15 teachers out sick, and the kids that come coughing and dripping are driving me crazy. I have been trying really hard not to touch my face and to wash my hands evert chance I get.
Get well Buzz!

We've all beeen sick off and on too. Me for 3 dang months. I was teasing Buzz a little today about being sick and he said, "Well at least I'm not sick for a month!" I corrected him, "Three months!"
He then got mad at me for making him laugh!! It hurts his chest. It's actually kind of funny to see him struggle not to laugh. He keeps telling me to stop being funny, but I'm not-I'm just being me!! If he thinks I'm funny, that's his tough luck! ;)

I do have my degree in special ed. I taught for 4 years, then moved to a morning kindergarten class, then "retired" to raise kids. Those young un's with special needs capture my heart. I can't resist 'em! Especially ones with Down's Syndrome for some reason. Trey has a kiddo in his class that is just awesome. He has Down's and he's so friendly to Trey and kind to him. I wave at the bus everyday and he's the only one that waves back to me-including Trey! He never waves at me. I grew up with this boy's dad (used to have a huge crush on him in fact!!) I've never told his dad who I am. I don't think he recognizes me. I hope not anyway. I used to be an idiot around him.
that is great to hear about him and funny that he told on himself.
I think I left it on Buzz's report but I hope he feels better soon.
Trey has a thing for flaunting the rules. He walks around the house wearing shoes, eats all over the house, smears up the windows... If it's a rule, he's breaking it. I always find candy wrappers hidden in his room!

Thank you! Soap opera family! I'm so proud!! :goodvibes We're definitely an unusual bunch. I always tease Buzz b/c he dresses very well and then here we come schlepping along. Me in my good sweats and (hopefully clean) t-shirts, kids in jammies. I believe in being comfortable!
I've often thought of trying that Airborne, but I don't know if it really works. That was invented by a teacher. I know what you mean though-kids coughing in your face and stuff. I remember the kids putting fingers in their noses, then grabbing my hand to hold it. I told my MIL yesterday you could almost see the germs invading your body. This has been a bad year for sickness. I look forward to warmer weather!!
Linnie, its great to hear your little guy is comming along!

We are leaving a week from Sunday. So that would be the 2nd. My mom is going out of town too. She and my brother and his 3 kids are driving to Tucson to visit my aunt. :scared: Now that's an entertaining family. I spent one night telling stories about them to one gal and within 5 minutes, I had a total captive audience, begging me for more stories! They live in the middle of the desert and are just absolutely nuts. Only they don't know they're nuts.
:goodvibes Oh, Linnie, that's terrific! It makes me smile for you all.

I hope he gets better soon too. I miss him and he's only in the basement.
Trey is really coming along. Thank you for your kind words. I can hardly believe he's using the word "I." It's something so minor, but so huge for us. When I tell my family about what he's able to do or the progress he's making, they just kind of look at me like, "Yeah, so?" I'm not sure if they mean it that way or if they don't really realized how disabled he really is and that these are miracles. There are things he does, that I don't let him do and tendencies that I try to stop and they think he's really funny doing that stuff. I've tried to tell him it's not a good thing, but they don't seem to get it.
I'm so thankful to have my DIS friends that are excited when he makes progress, because I really don't have anyone in my life that gets excited over that stuff and it is exciting!!
I've heard people say more than once that it is so sad that Trey is the way he is. I feel blessed because I get to see God's miracles in Trey. I realize now how complex speech and language is. I never even thought about it before. If I didn't have Trey, I wouldn't be able to really be thankful for the "small" things, which to me, are miracles. :goodvibes

Red, Always red! I did not get a new camera yet. This was weird. The other week, I saw this puppy outside. She was in the field across the street. I was really worried she'd get hit so I tried to get her to come over to me, but she wouldn't. So I had to just let her be-she ran off from me.
Last week, I got a call to get Trey early from school from being sick so as I was pulling in the driveway, here was that same puppy. I was opening the garage when I spotted her and she ran right inside. So I stopped the car so I wouldn't hit her, got out and she comes right up to me. :confused3 Oh my gosh-she was soooo soft! I wanted to keep her! She had a tag on with her name and address-she lives right around the corner from me.
Meanwhile, Trey is starting to get agitated. He doesn't like little dogs. So I grab the little dog, after much petting and put her on my lap and drove her home.
While all this was going on, my mailman was waiting for me! He had a registered/certified letter and he saw me, but couldn't figure out what I was doing so he just waited and hoped I'd come right back.
We bought that Subaru last month-here's where this saga ties together. The car dealership sent us a huge Walmart gift card. That was my registered/certified letter!! :cool1: I was so excited! So I'll be getting a new camera, but probably not til we get back from vacation. What I really want was that puppy!! It looks like Tracy's dog, Ace. She's adorable. Maybe if she gets out again, I'll make her mine! No I won't really, but good grief-what a cutie!

It's a DMC-FX01. Yes, the short video clips were taken on the camera. The longer ones that I put on YouTube were from our regular video camera. Just so you know, posting on YouTube or Photobucket with the camera's videos did not produce high quality there. However, on our home computer and TV at home, the quality was excellent! I have used the camera's video in some of my family's photo slide-shows and it is awesome!
