Once again, thank you everyone for your support and well wishes. Slowly but surely I'm getting better. I've set small goals for myself to break down the 6 week recovery period instead of having the whole long 6 week period looming over me.
I'll post an installment and get us up to date:
We left off at us being "stranded" downstairs at the hotel because our room was being cleaned. Buzz had gotten us each a wine and Trey wasn't bugging as much, but still unhappy. LA had a sprite so she was happy. Doesn't take much for her!
We decide to go upstairs and see if our room was done being cleaned. It was :yay: so LeeAndra and I excitedly took off for some shopping, some much needed shopping, that is. I’ve been looking forward to this for 4 months! Some of the things we bought:
A sparkly Tinkerbell shirt for me
A sparkly Mickey shirt for her (we are both into sparkly things)
Pins galore!
Mickey sweats for Trey
A stuffed Marie kitty for me
A stuffed bride Minnie for her
A Minnie hat for her
We were approaching the check out when I spied a Minnie play set. I showed it to LA who was thrilled so we threw that in too. Now she can dress Minnie up! (Funny though- when she took Minnie’s shoes off and saw her feet she exclaimed, “Mom her feet are just horrible!” They look like people feet only jet black. I guess maybe she thought they should’ve looked more like the princess feet!):confused3
Got back to the room to find out SURPRISE! Buzz had been napping. :sad2: Poor Trey was playing all by himself. We all hung out in the room and avoided the pool with the Nazi Life Guards for the next few hours. For dinner that night, Buzz suggested we go to Whitewater Snacks on the hotel. So we did. It is a counter service restaurant and it was great!! The food was really good and the atmosphere was awesome. I had a burger, the kids had chicken strips. Buzz had something. There were only a few other people there so we let the kids run around. I showed them how to play the Pac Man game, only I’m not very good at it. Or video games, in general…:upsidedow
We just enjoyed ourselves immensely. We went back upstairs with everyone still in a good mood. Trey was totally wound up and wrestling with me. I kept trying to get away from him (in fun) and he kept coming at me. I think was the happiest I’d seen Trey on vacation and we all enjoyed it. :cloud9:
He finally settled down a bit and in his own special little way, asked me to put some scrunchies in his hair!! So I did!! That was hilarious! His hair is a little long right now, so I could actually put 2 of them in his hair. It was great-we were all laughing. He looked like a nutty Alfalfa. He kept looking at himself in the mirror and laughing.
We decided to put the Simpsons on tv and pretty soon were all laughing at that. During a lull, Trey said to me, “Don’t put poop in your mouth.” Sometimes he’ll do that-say something that is obvious like, “Don’t put a pencil in the eye!” I just part of his way to communicate.
So I played along and said, “No, don’t put poop in your mouth! It’s icky.” He decided to tease me, “Poop, yum!” I pretended to be horrified and told him no, it’s yucky. Then he thought for a minute and said, “Cheese poop, yum!!” LA, Trey & I were cracking up. I was so happy. He was totally doing it on purpose-teasing me. For Trey it was huge!! Huge!! And the more we all laughed, the more egged on he was. Buzz finally told us to quit. He didn’t want him doing that at school. So we stopped, but before long, we started up again! It was just so cool to hear him joking with us.
We finally wound down and went to sleep!! Very Happy!!

Trey (MB) is really doing GREAT! It's like a switch was turned on and really since our vacation, he's come out of his shell.
I'd say his communication is coming close to a 4 or 5 year old level. Two years ago, I couldn't understand a single word he said. It was horrible and heartbreaking. :sad1:

He's bogarting the wine pretty good right now! I am going to abstain for a few weeks. I don't want to drink some, then get silly and "forget" I"m restricted and injure myself or my procedure. So he's got all the wine to himself for awhile! :cutie:
How Fantastic for Trey!!!!!
Now that's real family time.
It was great. When we got home, LA made a "Poop Book" and wrote all these sentences in it about poop. She laughed so hard. Then one day, I caught her with Trey and she was having him read the sentences to her. It was so cute. She was helping with the words he couldn't read. He's a great reader, but her handwriting was so messy that he couldn't read some of what she'd written. Shortly after that incident, she told me she's going to be a teacher. Aw, just like her mommy! :cloud9: Only I didn't help kids read a Poop Book. :sad2:

Buzz told me last night with me being "down" for awhile it's good for Trey-gets him out of the routine and causes him to do different things-just like on vacation. Ok, here’s where the CM’s advice at check in came back to bite me in the butt. She told us it was thee number one attraction in DL and we needed to be there at 9:00 on the dot!! So I made us all get up early, after much, much, much complaining from Buzz. He wanted to sleep in and get there at 9:30. I got us early and insisted we get going.
So we head for DL. I’m looking forward to this ride, but as we approached the esplanade, I turn to Buzz and say, “I hope this ride is good or I’m gonna never hear the end of it, am I?” He just smiled at me. First smile of the day. Not a happy one. More of a grimace. He loves Grimace btw.
We get in a line at the gate to get in the park-the lines all looked the same length. Only the other lines start moving and our line isn’t moving. The other lines keep moving along and I’m imagining all those people going through the gates and heading to Nemo. We stood there for fifteen minutes before Buzz finally jumps ship and heads us to another line.
He’d spotted one that just opened up and as we were heading for it a lady tried to muscle a stroller in front of us. Buzz’s GAT tactics must’ve been off b/c she made it ahead of us, slowing us down. No worries. I GAT’ed like crazy, getting us to Nemo to see a sign that said 45 minute wait. Yuck. I force us through it and it’s a death march, believe me. We wait in line 45 minutes. My lower back was screaming in agony. Every now and again, I hunkered down on the ground to relieve the pain. It was brutal. Luckily the kids were great or we couldn’t have done it. When we got up closer, I noticed people coming off the ride and not one had a smile on their face. This was not looking good. :sad2:
We finally get on the ride. It’s a little confusing. You line up and then go in kind of like Soarin’ only on this ride you go in a submarine that is down in the water. We were the last ones in so that meant we were the first ones off. That turned out to be the only good thing about this ride.
The air in was really uh, not fresh. I felt very closed in and didn’t like it. For the first time in my life, I started to have a panic attack. When I was pregnant with LA, I was a bridesmaid in a wedding. Two weeks before the wedding, I was making sure my dress fit (with my ever expanding waist line) and I got stuck in my bridesmaid dress!! Buzz was gone so I had to cut myself out of it. Ever since then I seem to have a little bit of claustrophobia.
So for the first few minutes, I stared out my porthole, trying to tell myself everything was ok. By the time we took off, I was over it and the panic was gone.
I thought you got to see fish and things like in the Living Seas. All we saw was the bottom of the tank we were in. Then it started getting really dark and thundering in there. It would’ve been really neat, but this baby started screaming at the top of its lungs. It was definitely scared. Who would take a baby on a ride like that?
To make it worse, they passed the baby to the person sitting behind me (there are 2 rows of seats and you sit with your back to the row behind you) and he put it on his shoulder so it was screaming right in my ear. Trey gets super upset when kids or babies are crying, but fortunately for us, he’s getting over that phase or it would’ve been an absolute nightmare!! He only asked once, “The baby’s mad? The baby go to time out?” I just said yes and left it at that. :sad2:
Twenty verrrrry long minutes later, we arrived at the end. I look over and see Buzz. I know what he’s thinking. We should’ve slept in til 9:30. This was a horrible experience. I’m so sorry we did it. Sorry, Buzz! I look around at some other passengers and I think they’re thinking the same thing. Being stuck in that sub with a screaming baby when it could’ve been a slightly fun ride was horrible. I looked behind me at the people with the baby and found there was a large group of them together. So why couldn’t one have stayed behind and kept the baby outside? When my kids were babies, I was very mindful of their crying and never did things like that with them. I know it upsets people.
So with that ride being totally ruined and 90 mins of our lives we’ll never get back (which Buzz announced very loudly as we exited our submarine), we head over to do something fun. Space Mountain!! Now that was fun!! We really enjoyed that ride.
We thought about doing Buzz Lightyear again but the kids were pretty hungry so we opted to go find food. We went immediately to that place with the fried chicken that I didn’t want to eat at the other day. I gave in and told Buzz to just get me the chicken. I could use the plastic utensils to pick the breading off. After Nemo, I did NOT want to cause any more problems.
I let LeeAndra pick out a table for us. There was not one other customer in the place so we literally had our pick. We sit down and get our napkins. Much to my surprise and delight, there is real silverware-not plastic! So we get our stuff and sit down. With all the empty tables in the place, here comes a lady with a screaming baby and sits right next to us!! Every other table in the place was empty and she sits next to us. I immediately grab our things and get up. “Come on. We’re moving.”
The kids are confused but they follow me with LA asking me why the entire way. We find a place to sit as far away from the screaming baby as we can get. Just then I look in the restaurant, and see Buzz at the check out. He waves me over. It’s a ton of food and there’s 2 trays so I carry one and lead him to where we are sitting.
This is awesome fried chicken and I’m sorry we didn’t eat there the other day. It was wonderful. The atmosphere was great! We were in the shade so it was a little cool. But so relaxing. And we were right by the Haunted Mansion which we had planned to ride next.
We finished up and prepared to go get scared.

Great installment!
I remember going on the Submarines when I was a kid and really enjoying them. They were sort of claustrophobic and musty, though. I was so sad when I heard they closed them down and so happy when I found out that what they did with the lagoon was to put in another sub ride. It's too bad that they haven't figured out how to do-mustify them. What did the kids think of the ride? I think I am still going to have to wait in that line when/if we ever get to Disneyland, just for nostalgia's sake.:cutie:

They probably didn't know it would be dark and probably didn't know she'd freak like she did. I felt bad for the tot. She was really scared.
I could not imagine a baby crying in my ear for that long. Trey was so sweet :grouphug:. I love how these disney trips really expand a child's outlook on things. So sorry to hear you are almost to your last ride at DL :sad2:.
How are you feeling? Are you sleeping ok? I have had you on my mind a lot lately and hope you are feeling better .
It could've been such a disaster if Trey hadn't held it together the way he did! :scared1:
I'm doing better. I went in today and the nurse took my pain pump out but it hurt when she did and it was all red and puffy around where it came out at so she thinks it might be infected and was really concerned.
There's a chance it might not be an infection-it could just be a reaction to the tubing and tape (which sounds like me). And also-not to be too gross, but it smelled and once she cleaned it up it didn't stink anymore. She said if it was an infection, it'd probably still smell.
The doctor is in surgery all day but she called in some antibiotics and was adamant that if my redness spreads, to either come see her or if it's after hours, go to the ER. :guilty: I hope it's nothing.
I don't feel sick and I don't have a fever. She did say she's never seen a pain pump infection on anyone in 6 years. I hope I'm not the first! :headache:
Great installment!
I remember going on the Submarines when I was a kid and really enjoying them. They were sort of claustrophobic and musty, though. I was so sad when I heard they closed them down and so happy when I found out that what they did with the lagoon was to put in another sub ride. It's too bad that they haven't figured out how to do-mustify them. What did the kids think of the ride? I think I am still going to have to wait in that line when/if we ever get to Disneyland, just for nostalgia's sake.:cutie:
Fried chicken sounds good. And real utensils!?! WooHoo!:woohoo:
I can't wait to hear how you liked the Haunted Mansion at DL compared to WDW.
Musty is the perfect way to describe the smell!! The kids liked the ride fine, believe it or not. It was Buzz and me that didn't. :headache:
I remember going on the subs when it was 20,000 LEagues and I thought they were claustrophobic then. Sorry you waited 40 minutes and it wasn't a great ride:sad2: Hope Buzz was a gentleman and didn't say I told you so;)
I didn't know it used to be another ride! :dance3:
That Stinks (literally :rotfl2: ) about the sub ride. I was just telling DH that I wanted to go to DL specifically to do that ride.:sad2:
It's probably not worth it-at least until it's not a 45 minute wait!!
What?! No way...
She's back I hear!!
Hey Lin, I like the update. Obviously some people only think obout themselvs (sitting next to you with all the other tables available. I like Trey's questions. :rotfl2: Gud for Buzz not rubbing it in too much. :thumbsup2
I too, miss 20,000 leagues @ WDW. That was one of my favorites as a kid and was sorry to hear it was gone. I wanted to take DD on it. :sad1:
Take her on Nemo-if your marriage can survive that, it can survive anything!! :thumbsup2 I could tell BUzz really wanted to rub it in. I just wonder why it is that my ideas always turn out to be so bad???? :headache:
Yup. And you can banned for just talking about it. Read on my report.
So shut up then.
If the restaurant was next to the HM, then it was The French Market. One of my favorite places to eat!
For lunch they serve the best French Dip sandwich that could feed 2 people!!
That's it!! It was awesome!!
great update. I did not like the ride when it was 20,000 leagues so I would not go on it. I would be so claustophobic.
I would have thanked the family with the baby on the way out for bringing the baby on. :)
That's great advice! I should've done that!!! I looked around at everyone else and they all had the same expression as Buzz had on his face. Not gud.

Sorry about the Nemo ride. I wonder how much the subs have changed. I last went in it in the 70s when it was 20,000 Leagues. I still have a pic of me going down the tiny opening into the sub.
But that chicken sounds yummy! I've been wanting some fried chicken since Buzz posted the fried chicken bag the other day.
Why is it that people feel the need to sit right next to others in an empty restaurant? I am totally opposite. I like to sit far far away.

Moving right along....
We hit the Haunted Mansion. I’ve always loved this ride. I had the book and record when I was a kid. I still have the book, but the record is probably at my mom’s somewhere in all her things. :confused3
We’ve never done HM at DL before and it was awesome! Totally scary! There was a bride with her former husbands with their heads cut off that was really, really neat. Very creepy. I love to watch the part where the ghosts are dancing and partying at that big table-I love that. :thumbsup2
Trey and I must have very sensitive startle reflexes because we saw the part of the ride coming where the things pop out of the boxes and when we got up to it, we nearly jumped out of our seats!! And both of us shrieked.
We got off HM, feeling very happy and decide to check out BTMRR. Line was too long. Everyone seemed tired of the parks so we decided to pack it in. The crowd was large (more cheerleaders again) and it was getting hard to move around. Amazingly, the kids never once complained about having to walk vs. riding in a stroller. They did great! :goodvibes
When we bought LA’s Minnie hat, they told us we could get it embroidered for free so we stopped at the hat shop on the way out and did that. That took forever. Lots of kids wanting their hats done too. :guilty:
We stopped and got some more Sprite Zero on the way back to the room. Yum.
We got back upstairs and changed to go to the dreaded swimming pool. :headache:
When we got down there, we decided to just forget about going to the pool with the slide. We stayed at the one with no slide and no lifeguards (it was right next to the other one). There wasn’t as many people at this one so it was very pleasant. Before too long, some kids came and LA had someone to play with.
Buzz got up and got a beer and I read my book. I actually finished my book. I drank some beer too. I usually do about once a year or so.
(I actually drank 2 beers!)
I also brought a notebook. This was when Buzz and I did the pros and cons of Disneyland v. Disney World which I’ll post later.
LeeAndra and her friends were cannon balling into the water and I could tell Trey wanted to too. He was standing at the edge of the pool but was too scared to jump in. He grabbed my hand and was gesturing for me to do something. I couldn’t figure out what he wanted so I just grabbed him and threw him in! He loved it. Then I had to do that for awhile.
Then he wanted me to jump in! So I did-I was nervous though because I wasn’t sure if I’d hit the bottom or not. I didn’t, but I completely dunked under the water. I came up spitting water and coughing. I’m sure I amused the other swimmers with my poor display. Here I throw my kid in, but I can’t jump in myself. Nice mom!:sad2:
We swam around for awhile longer. I made each kid take off their life jacket and do swimming lessons. Trey can totally swim, but he panics without his life jacket. We’ll have to get him used to swimming without one this summer.
Buzz is talking/complaining about dinner. All day he kept trying to talk me out of the character dinner, but I insist we do it. I want to see the characters too!
After much discussion between Buzz and myself, I gave in and decided no character dinner. Trey doesn’t handle the waiting well and I wanted our last night to be fun. (As opposed to our last morning with the disastrous Nemo ride that I had to do). Those character meals can take a long time. It’d be best to just forget it.
We spent the afternoon packing and laying around. Buzz took about 3 naps again. It was hard to pack our suitcases because Buzz brought along 3 coats!! One in case it rains, one for Montana weather, one for extra warmth. Next time, I’m looking in the suitcase and taking out any extra coats he brings-they take up too much room. He did this last fall too in Floria for crying out loud-brought a bunch of coats!!
We head down to the Whitewater Snack place in the hotel and get food again for dinner. It was a great time, just hanging out, enjoying life. I had a burger (no bun) and a roast beef sandwich (no bun). Trey had chicken strips, LA had a hotdog. Buzz had something. It was very good!!
When we were done, Buzz suggested we get a glass of wine and sit by the fire. On the walk there, LA says, “Trey is 8 and he doesn’t talk that good. When he’s a grown up, he’ll talk normal.” This shocked me. It’s the only time I’ve ever heard her say anything about Trey being different. I knew it was coming someday. I just said Trey doesn’t hear things like we do so it makes it harder for him to talk. She didn’t care. He’s her “brudder” and she totally loves him the way he is. Most days.
We get to the fireplace and there is a lot of cheerleaders practicing out there on the lawn. Their families are there too. I don’t think we should really be there. I’m kind of nervous, but Buzz insists. So I go get the wine with LA following me. When I get back, Buzz is cracking up laughing. He says, “This is the best comedy show I’ve ever seen.” Apparently while the girls were all practicing their routines, Trey was completely oblivious and running around in between them, behind them, in front of them. Buzz said the really funny part was no one seemed to notice him. It made Buzz laugh, which is always good.
We watched a little more and soon the cheerleaders finished up and left. It was very peaceful and serene. LA asked how come didn’t just go to CA-it was right there! We told her because it was just about closed for the night and we were all done with the parks. We talked about what rides we liked and how much fun we had. Trey broke the spell by telling us he wanted to go back upstairs. So we did. On the way in, I noticed the pianist playing. He was playing a classical version of the Mickey Mouse song that I was yelling and singing the morning we went to the airport. Kind of a nice closure.
We watched the Simpsons the rest of the night and fell asleep!

I'm better-I posted on Buzz's about this and a little on mine. I got one drain out and my pain pump but it looks like I'm getting an infection at the site of my pain pump on the left. I'm on antibiotics now. The nurse was really concerned. I don't feel sick or anything-in fact, each day I feel better than the one before. Hope it's nothing. It was putting off an odor though. Ick. Once she cleaned it, it quit smelling. I thought it was because I haven't showered for a week.

I really enjoy your installments, Linnie. I really felt like we were there with you as you experienced the melancholy of the last evening.
Granted I haven't been to Disneyland in two decades, but when we rode the HM at WDW it didn't have the same feeling that I remember the one at DL having. It seemed more day-glo to me. It's funny you mentioned the popping out stuff - one time when I was a teenager I was riding the HM and there was a CM standing in the scene where the skeleton is lifting the coffin lid. You come at the scene backwards and the CM leaned into our Doombuggy. Scared the pants off of me!!:scared1: Good times!!
I'm glad to hear you had a good appointment. It must feel good to have the drain and pain pump out. Hopefully there isn't any infection and you just continue to heal quickly. Antibiotics is a good precaution anyways. DH sliced three fingers open on a table saw last week and the emergency room stitched him up but they didn't prescribe any antibiotics. He is still in great pain and just saw the doctor who prescribed him an antibiotic because it was starting to become infected even with regular application of Neosporin. Phew! All this to say... I think it is good to take antibiotics any time infection is a possibility.
Sorry for the novel... I guess I'm feeling chatty today.:flower3:

Wow-that's hilarious!! That would scared me too!!
Eek-DH slicing his finger up. I totally agree about taking antibiotics. I had a sinus infection for the past 3 or 4 months that I couldn't shake. The doctor said just wait it out-let it run its course. I was blowing my nose so hard. I couldn't imagine how I was going to manage that during my recovery. They gave me antibiotics in my IV (standard) and the very next day my sinus infection was completely gone. If my other doctor had done that right away, I could've avoided a lot of misery.

As usual, I’m up before the alarm goes off at some hideously early hour. I’d finished my book about Natalee Holloway the night before and was thinking about her and her family. Such a sad case. It really made my heart ache. It's like the Titanic story-everytime I hear it, I root for the ship to not go down. I was rooting for them to find Natalee. We'll probably never know what happened to her.
The alarm went off and we all got up and moving. As we headed out the hotel door, LA said a sad, “Goodbye Disneyland.” :sad1:
We had called ahead for them to bring our car and as we left the hotel, the guy just pulled up with it. He was very nice, helped me with loading the luggage (Thanks, Buzz) and gave Buzz directions. We hadn’t seen our funky car since we arrived! Buzz ignored my constant suggestions to go to a grocery store so we left it parked the whole time.
The ride to the airport was very quiet. We stopped for gas, even though we only drove the car a little bit. I didn’t have much to say so just looked out the window, feeling sad that we were leaving, but ready to come home and get back to our routine. Well, not entirely ready to come home, but almost.
At the car rental place Buzz pulled the car in the lane that was marked and got our things out. We stood waiting for this elderly car rental guy to come help us. He was so slow Buzz just finally yelled to him that we were pre-paid and he waved us on. We caught the shuttle bus to the airport and headed for security. The car rental at WDW is faster and easier.
The security guy at the airport was pretty humorous, asking the kids to see their driver’s licenses. LA has informed me many times, she’s never going to drive a car. She just likes to sit and relax and let me drive. Something tells me I should tape record her statement and SOON!! Just for future reference.
Ontario Airport’s security was very smooth and the people were so nice. I was impressed. :thumbsup2
Buzz decides to get us breakfast so I take the kids on a bathroom break while he gets the food. He got me some sort of spicy eggs. Then he tells me we have about 5 minutes to eat –they’d be loading any minute. I usually eat very fast, but I really inhaled these eggs and boy were they hot!! Not very spicy hot, but warm hot! And soooo good!!
I ate them so fast, I was done first so I went to the news stand and bought some more magazines and another book. Trey came with me and picked out some Cheetos. That’ll make for nice orange hands and face.
Next thing you know, we’re on the plane and heading back to Denver. The flight was uneventful. When we were in the air, they told us the plane we were on was heading to Orlando so BUzz tells LA this and she gets super excited like maybe we were going to WDW now!! Uh, hated to crush her excitedness, but we were leaving this plane and going to Montana. She and Buzz were totally ready to continue on to WDW!
We arrive in Denver, no problem and as we’re walking to the gate for our hour long wait to board our next plane, Buzz’s phone rings. It’s United. We’re delayed. So we go to the McDonald’s and wolf down some burgers and hit the Croc shop to kill time. It’s amazing how many different styles they have now. I was wearing my sparkly Tink shirt and one the employees tells me they have Tinkerbell Jibbits. I think about it for a minute, but decided not to get any. I’ve spent enough.
We kept getting delayed, delayed, delayed and delayed so we go to the Red Carpet Room. Trey is NOT happy. He knows when we go there, that we’ll be there for a long while. I get us some things to snack on. They have cheese!! I’m happy!! But I can’t get it open, so this very nice employee comes over to show me how. She’s super nice.
Trey is still bugging so I take him to the bathroom, thinking maybe he needs to go. He don’t. We’re washing our hands and that really nice lady employee is in there. She must’ve thought I was a complete doofus because now I can’t find the paper towels to dry our hands. She shows me, then asks how old Trey is. I tell her he’s 8 and he’s not very happy right now. He’s kind of crying. She puts her hands on his cheeks and says, “Don’t cry, it’ll be ok.” Then she says she has 2 boys herself and she tells me Trey is very cute. I just loved this woman. She was so kind! And he loved it when she put her hands on his cheeks! :goodvibes
Trey continued to bug the whole time we were there so we just left him alone. He’s writhing around on the floor, getting filthy-far away from us but within eye sight, but at least he’d quieted down. LA wants to watch a movie so I put on for her. Our DVD player that was just working the night before won’t work. It’s broken. That was annoying. It’s our 2nd one. The first one lasted even less time than this one. Is it our bad luck or are those things junk?
I was pretty annoyed, but then cheered up because this really noisy family came and sat nearby. Ah! Something entertaining to watch and their kids were so loud, it made mine seem quiet. But darn it, they got up and left after a few minutes. I wanted to shout, “Loud Family come back!! Please!!” But I controlled myself.
After a few hours, I walked over to the other side and the kids and I watched for our plane to come in. TAfter about 5 minutes, it showed up. Woo Hoo!! I went to tell Buzz and we loaded our gear and went to the gate.
Trey is having a great school year, he loves his teacher and the people that work with him so much. The people that worked with him before didn’t seem to really like him and they didn’t work with him. Last year for Trey was extremely frustrating to me. His teacher yelled a lot at the kids and I witnessed her aide being way too physical with a student, spinning him around in the hallway.
I was not happy with this situation. So when Trey switched schools this year, I went in, guns blazing. I wasn’t about to let him have another wasted year. He just can’t afford it. I had plans to come in no matter what the teacher said, and work with Trey. Uh, it turned out, I didn’t need to even worry. He’s got an awesome teacher and team. At conferences, she told me she really loves Trey and the whole room enjoys him-the whole school enjoys him. He just lights up the room he’s in. Awwww. It’s such a relief and such a warm fuzzy feeling to know how much they like him!!
So we settle in on the plane and his teacher comes walking by!! Trey and I are both shocked! :scared1: Him more than me! He practically jumped out of his seat. She smiled and said hi, then went and sat down. I asked him when we were in the air if he wanted to say hi to her, but he didn’t. He did keep yelling "Hi Mrs. Hert" all through the flight though and looking towards the back of the plane!
We started to land and LA said she had to go potty. Great. I told her she’d have to wait now and she immediately bursts in to tears. It’s a short ride to the gate and as soon as we land, we quickly get off and get her to the potty. Then Buzz and LA go get the car and I wait with Trey for the luggage. We looked around for his teacher but didn’t see her. She emailed me later and said she would’ve come to visit but Trey was so surprised to see her that she thought it’d be better if she didn’t. What a thoughtful, considerate person!! She’s awesome!! :goodvibes
Trey was really looking for her, when the carousel beeped and guess what!! Our luggage was the first ones off!! They paid attention to the priority stickers!! I grabbed them and dragged them out to the car, which had just pulled up. It was a great end to a great trip!! We stopped at Subway and Wendy’s for dinner, hit the wine store for me and Buzz and then home sweet home!!

:goodvibes
I love this part of the story. What a wonderful lady employee!
Man, you'd love to have my family to compare yourselves to. You guys would come off as church mice.
This is so wonderful to hear. I am sure that the amazing progress that Trey is making has a lot to do with this nurturing and supportive environment that he has at school (as well as the great family he has at home.)

As usual, I’m up before the alarm goes off at some hideously early hour.
 Why?????????
The alarm went off and we all got up and moving. As we headed out the hotel door, LA said a sad, “Goodbye Disneyland.” :sad1:
awww that's sad :(
We had called ahead for them to bring our car and as we left the hotel, the guy just pulled up with it. He was very nice, helped me with loading the luggage (Thanks, Buzz)
:sad2:
The ride to the airport was very quiet. We stopped for gas, even though we only drove the car a little bit. I didn’t have much to say so just looked out the window, feeling sad that we were leaving, but ready to come home and get back to our routine. Well, not entirely ready to come home, but almost.
Plus this was a much shorter trip than the ones you to to WDW. Could you have spent more time there or did you get to see it all?
The security guy at the airport was pretty humorous, asking the kids to see their driver’s licenses. LA has informed me many times, she’s never going to drive a car. She just likes to sit and relax and let me drive. Something tells me I should tape record her statement and SOON!! Just for future reference.
::yes:: JoJo is going for her drivers test in May :scared1:
Ontario Airport’s security was very smooth and the people were so nice. I was impressed. :thumbsup2
Ontario eh? Copycats
I usually eat very fast, but I really inhaled these eggs and boy were they hot!!
:rotfl2:
Uh, hated to crush her excitedness, but we were leaving this plane and going to Montana. She and Buzz were totally ready to continue on to WDW!
This part made me smile :)
:goodvibes

Our United flight back to Oz was delayed heaps too!
We arrived at the airport at about 4:30pm, and finally boarded the plane a little after 1am.
They made the announcement that if it got to 1:30am and we still hadn't boarded they were going to put us in a hotel for the night. I'm glad we boarded the plane that night. It worked out pretty well because we were both dead tired when we boarded and slept through the first 7 hours of the flight!!

I'm sorry your flight was delayed in Denver. Hearing about that nice lady and her putting her hands on Trey's cheek gave me two different feelings. One was, how sweet and gentle. The other was, ew I hope she washed her hands. I know, the last was bad but I get grossed out easy with that kind of stuff.
It is such a good feeling knowing that your child is having a wonderful school year and the teacher is one of the main reasons. I say this in general because you know about my Evan with his learning disability. His teacher is a God send. She truly has a gift and I - and EVAN - are blessed he has her as a teacher this year. She has learned to use his strengths in artistry to bring his thoughts out on paper. Amazing. So, I totally feel for you and Trey!

Trey sounded as though he did so well waiting for your next flight and how cool that his teacher was on the same flight, she sounds lovely :)
She is so awesome! She really deserved that award she won. She has been teaching for 19 years and really seems to love it. It made my heart all warm when she told me how much she and the whole school love Trey. She said he just lights up whatever room he's in. :goodvibes His teacher last year never said anything remotely kind like that.
And she gets his little sense of humor. She was telling me stories about him and laughing and also laughing at my stories. His previous teachers never saw the humor in Trey and he's full of it, believe me. It just means so much to me to have someone like him so much.
Glad your trip ended on such a positive note!:thumbsup2

No, we boarded while inside. It's a very nice airport too-the people that work there are really nice.
I never thought about the germs. I was just happy he didn't bug when she did that. But he loves his cheeks touched. When he's mad, I just tickle his cheeks and he immediately smiles.
It is so nice to have a teacher that "fits" your child. I can't begin to describe how miserable Trey was last year. We all were. It was so frustrating. I tried to tell her things, but she didn't listen. This teacher totally listens and then acts. She is super.
Uh, I hate to admit this, but I don't know about the priority stickers. Lin = dumb. Buzz can answer that-he travels so much that people in our city know him at the airport and they sometimes give him special treatment. I don't know if this was part of that or if he's entitled to it in some other way.

Jimmy hasn't napped since he was 2 either. That was another bone of contention at the old daycare. They decreed that the children MUST SLEEP for 2 hours everyday:confused3 This new place they give the kids 1/2 hour - 45 minutes to try and sleep. Once the other kids who sleep are asleep they give the non-sleepers something quiet to do (puzzles, coloring etc) until nap time is over. Much better situation for us:thumbsup2

Here is what we came up with while sitting at the pool drinking beers:
WDW Pros
More resort choices
Better pools – more toys at pool, margaritas at pool, playground areas
Water parks
Pleasure Island
Nightlife options
Better ambiance at restaurants (Cal Grille v. Napa Rose)
DVC options
More vacation magic
Less ip dips at WDW
Can spend longer time on Disney property and not go crazy-more to see and do in WDW
WDW Cons
A lot of driving to the parks and such
Lots more walking the parks-can do fewer parks and attractions in one day than DL
Parking lots at the parks are not great
DL Pros
Attractions are all closer together, can do a lot in one day
Walking distance is shorter in all aspects
Pool chairs at DGC are awesome
Can’t beat convenience of everything
DL better than MK-more to do
DL has better rides than MK (same as above I guess)
Indiana Jones is great!!
More headliners per park
No Love Bugs!!
Nice tv in rooms (42” plasma with DVD player)
DL Cons
Pool at DGC-bad
Nemo ride-too long and boring
Seems to be lots of gangsta/hood types in park there at WDW there’s very little if any riff raff
Walkways are narrower-harder to maneuver
Park guests are ruder compared to WDW where they’re pretty nice

Seedy people-that's it exactly. I couldn't figure out how to put it without sounding rude. At WDW, the main people there seem to be vacationing families. This is the hardest part for me. I want to thank everyone for hanging in there and hoped I didn’t bore you too much. I do tend to go on at times. I’m not as funny as Buzz (well in real life, I’m actually funnier). But I’m also quiet so most people don’t get to see my humor! :rotfl:
I really did enjoy writing this report. It was my first one, but probably won’t be my last one. Maybe Buzz and I could do one together for next year. We could call it the WoMan Report. Get it? Yeah, that was dumb! Only I don’t think I could tolerate his snail’s pace. :sad2:
I’ve said before there are people that just don’t get Disney and those that do, really get it. I love it. Buzz loves it. LeeAndra loves it. Trey, not as much, but it’s that darn disability thing getting in the way there.
I love it because I can totally forget all my problems and cares. It’s so magical. I can be silly and kiss Mickey bushes or belt out songs in the middle of a bunch of people, stick my tongue as far out as I can, dance any way I want to. I can be a total idiot and believe me, I am. :dance3:
It brings out the "kid" in me, or something resembling a kid. Perhaps a middle aged, very immature woman. I can drink wine and not feel guilty about how much I chug down. I can ride roller coasters and ferris wheels until I come dangerously close to throwing up. I can skip down Main Street and not feel dumb.
I can laugh until I’m in agony-especially if Buzz falls down or gets kicked in the butt by his daughter while wearing nothing but a towel. The times and laughs we have there are magical and I live for my Disney Magic fix. I’m glad we go twice a year now. There’s just nothing like a Disney Vacation. If done properly that is. I’ve had friends go there and hate it. I just tell them, “Then you didn’t do it right!!”
Disney magic- that’s what I love about my DIS friends-well one of the many, many reasons. We have many things in common, but one thing we all have in common is our love for Disney. Uniting us from all over the world. We come from all walks of life-some come from other countries, some live in Florida and others live clear across the US, but we’re all brought together by one man and his mouse. And that is Disney Magic. Thank you for reading and God bless each and every one of you and your families.
PS-I did find my Simpsons DVD’s. Remember back on the night before we left I couldn’t find them and got obsessed with it? The next day after we got back, I was lying in bed and I remembered!! About 2 weeks before we left, I was really sick with the flu and I put those DVD’s under my bed so I could watch them while I was sick in bed. Only I never did. So I jumped out of bed, looked under my bed, moved a bunch of crap out of the way and there they were!! The missing DVD’s!!! The Linnie World is once again rin order.

Too bad you had issues with the lifeguards, I have never heard of those issues in the past or have I seen them while eating at the White Water Snacks patio. Most of the time they look like they are in another world. I did run in to someone last Sunday that wanted to say hello

Seems to be lots of gangsta/hood types in park
And that is just the Cast Members
Walkways are narrower-harder to maneuver
Especially during parades or Fireworks
Park guests are ruder compared to WDW where they’re pretty nice
I have to agree, but I am wondering if that is not do the comment above. When it is crowded and everyone is on top of each other I think tempers get short

Hi Linnie,
I just wanted to tell you how much I have enjoyed reading your trip report! Sounds like you guys had a great time, or at least the good/fun times outweighed the bad ones. :lovestruc
There is nothing like good ol Disney Magic to make a person feel better, no matter if it is remembered, written/read about or if you are lucky enough to be in the middle of it! :wizard: That said, I'm really glad you are feeling better.
Thanks for sharing your adventure!

Hi Linnie! Thanks so much for doing this report. I've loved reading along. I love reading all kinds of Disney trip reports, but I especially enjoy the ones by families who are living with a disability. There's just that added twist that makes the trip so special. Thanks for sharing & I hope you do another TR. And thanks for updating the Woman Report so much more quickly than that Man Report gets updated! ;)

Linnie , your last installment was wonderful. You are so right about the "Disney Magic" :cloud9:. I miss Disney from the moment we leave until we are back on WDW property. All our troubles seem to fade away there, people treat Bill more normally there, and it is just heaven to us.
Thank you so much for sharing your trip with us. I adore your family and will be reading any future reports you and Buzz do.

Linnie, Thanks so much for your great trip report.
I have to say though, you are not a middle aged immature woman. You are a person who can find joy in all the little things in life. Disney is just a place where people like us can let it show without everyone around us thinking we're nuts!
My DH and I also love to laugh AT and WITH each other. It's what keeps you going during the tough times. That and the trips to Disney!!
It is so great that Trey has a teacher that really loves and gets him! ADHD runs in my family and it is just amazing how many really bad teachers there are out there. They are great if you are the perfect student, but give them a challenge and they can totally demoralize a special needs child. My shy, quiet, withdrawn 7 year old grandson has yet to have a teacher who understands and treats him with some compassion and love that a young child needs. Peyton is just seen as the problem child. Yet, for us, he is constantly thinking of others and is so kind and thoughtful. This just makes him such an easy target for the school bullies.
You guys are doing a great job with your children! Hope your recovery goes super fast!

Hi Linnie
I'm not suppose to be on here.
SHHHH. Don't tell anyone.
I'm on a break.
My PTR explains.
Fixing my signature. Just had to stop in and tell you I'm praying for your recovery.
OK, I'm signing off now. Back to life. I'll be back in full DIS mode in a few weeks.
Your secret is safe with me! :flower3: Thanks for the prayers!
Your final thoughts are wonderful. I can totally relate to just about all you said. Thank you so much for your first TR and, yes, you must do another! I love the "combined" ones.
Thanks! I'd like to do another one with Buzz! They're pretty fun to do and like Buzz said, they really help him to remember the trip. Although I don't see how that is possible considering how slow his moves....
Well said.:thumbsup2

Buzz has told me we could have fun no matter where we go-we just all enjoy each other. I think he's right. We do have a lot of fun-the 4 of us nuts. Disney is perfect for us. We're so lucky to be able to do it. Buzz makes me laugh all the time, although right now is not a good time for me to be busting a gut. He sent me one line on an email this morning and I nearly exploded trying not to laugh. I love humor!
Peyton sounds like my cousin's son. He's having a lot of issues with the teachers too. He a square peg and they try to make him fit into a round hole and it just doesn't work. He has some OCD issues and such. It's amazing how many poor teachers there are out there and it's even more amazing what a huge difference they can make in a child's life! I hope Peyton doesn't get bullied. That's so hard.

According to Buzz, the WM said there was a lawsuit involved with that whole thing (it's in a thread on the CB) and Buzz questioned if there was really a lawsuit and now all his posts are gone. He tried to post some more, as he can log in, but nothing shows up. :sad2:

I loved your trip, Linnie! It is so sad on the last day, isn't it? You summed it up perfectly though, about being able to just act like a kid with no worries and just be in the moment with our families. Disney is the perfect escape.
DD's teacher went to WDW the same week we did (along with about 6 other families we knew) and she was the only one we didn't see. I'm so glad Trey loves his new school and teacher, it really does make all the difference. My SIL teaches kindergarten and loves her kids to pieces and she has mostly low income, little "home training" , lots of behavior problems in the class. This year actually she has six kids considered special ed in her regular classroom. She has never spoken of any of them with anything but love. That is the kind of teacher I wish every child could have every year.
Thank you for sharing your family!:goodvibes

Anyway, apparently I was banned for posting the following over on Alex's thread at the CB forum:
"Maybe the suggested Lawsuit is a ruse to keep from having to answer questions. Hopefully, after time and the supposed lawsuit, we'll all forget about the bannings".
For those that don't get it, Alex posted that they cannot answer questions about the bannings due to a lawsuit. I think it's all crap. They just don't want to answer questions because they were so childish that now they are embarrassed.
Quickest way to cure my post or anything else out of me is to wipe me from the planet.
However, here is the weird part. I can still log in and post but only I can see them. My trip report is THERE when I log in under MDF, even when I refresh.

Buzz and Linnie :grouphug:, I hope you are having a good night. Hope you feel better Linnie!!
Buzz is all about the wine tonight. I'm drinking some grape Crystal Lite stuff. Looks like wine. I'm still off alcohol while I'm on my pain stuff. Love the siggie Tracy!! Buzz is in heaven with all this support!!
We love ya Buzz!
He loves everyone too! He feels so special tonight!!

Linnie on the road to recovery. Excellent news!
I remember when you lost those DVD's. :rotfl: :rotfl: :rotfl:
Thanks for a great report.
You're welcome for the TR! I enjoyed doing it.
Buzz got put in "time out."
So Linnie, when is the next Disneyland Adventure scheduled for ya'll?
Probably 2010. Buzz doesn't want to go back next year due to us having annual passes for WDW.
Just showing my support!
Love you guys!
Love you too!! Thanks for the support!!
Hi Linnie (and Buzz, too)
I finally mustered up the courage to write and tell you how much I have enjoyed sharing with your family not only this TR but all of Buzz's prior ones. Call me a wuss, but will all of this "stuff" going on, I decided to step on out of lurkdom and let you know how much I have been entertained. :thumbsup2
You guys are a great family and I hope to continue to be entertained by your wonderful trips for a long, long time to come! :dance3:

Thank you!! Glad to have you aboard! Although, who knows how long we'll be around! Buzz is such a troublemaker!!
We enjoy our Disney trips!!
This is just crap!! What happens when someone has an opinion about something different than the moderators have? Are they just going to remove everybody at some time or another and leave people that have no opinions on anything! Sorry about the rant anyways hope things get changed for the better ,so people can express how they feel without being locked out and not being able to post how great it is to go to disney and talk about how life really is!
I'm just saying what someone told me to say here-it isn't the moderators. It's other people. Some guy told me that....
I guess everything is swell until there's a difference of opinion.... Oh well....Buzz is all drunked up-he doesn't know anything right now. See, the beauty of him being in time out is I can say stuff and he can't defend himself. There is an upside to everything!

Linnie I just wanted to let you know how much I have enjoyed reading.........it makes me feel a lot like being at Disney......"Disney Magic".
The stories of Trey are priceless and the glimpse into your life and challenges is inspirational:worship:
Pros and Cons were interesting. I like the idea of Disneyland being more convenient; less walking and I will probably always be a little sad that we didn't do DL while living on the West Coast but now it is just not practical with WDW closer.
Thanks for sharing and take care of yourself:hug:

This is the hardest part for me. I want to thank everyone for hanging in there and hoped I didn’t bore you too much. I do tend to go on at times. I’m not as funny as Buzz (well in real life, I’m actually funnier). But I’m also quiet so most people don’t get to see my humor! :rotfl:
You are certainly funny - your TR was awesome! :goodvibes
I really did enjoy writing this report. It was my first one, but probably won’t be my last one. Maybe Buzz and I could do one together for next year. We could call it the WoMan Report. Get it? Yeah, that was dumb! Only I don’t think I could tolerate his snail’s pace. :sad2:
I hope you do write more PTRs and TRs! Oh, could you perhaps instruct someone (who shall not be named lol) on how to actually post timely updates? :rotfl2:
I’ve said before there are people that just don’t get Disney and those that do, really get it. I love it. Buzz loves it. LeeAndra loves it. Trey, not as much, but it’s that darn disability thing getting in the way there.
Trey is a cool kid, as is LeeAndra - just like their parents :cool2:
I love it because I can totally forget all my problems and cares. It’s so magical. I can be silly and kiss Mickey bushes or belt out songs in the middle of a bunch of people, stick my tongue as far out as I can, dance any way I want to. I can be a total idiot and believe me, I am. :dance3:
I am sooooooooooooooooooooo looking forward to forgetting all my problems and cares! I intend to be mighty silly and to act my shoe size, instead of my age :rotfl:
It brings out the "kid" in me, or something resembling a kid. Perhaps a middle aged, very immature woman. I can drink wine and not feel guilty about how much I chug down. I can ride roller coasters and ferris wheels until I come dangerously close to throwing up. I can skip down Main Street and not feel dumb.
I'm looking forward to the roller coasters :thumbsup2 I'm not sure I'll skip (could put an eye out, ya know :lmao:), but I'll think about it :scratchin
Oh, I hope we're be able to "do it right"!!! With as many family members going as we have, I've pinned my hopes on that pixie dust influencing us all! As for laughing at Buzz, isn't that what husbands are for? :confused3 :rotfl2:
Disney magic- that’s what I love about my DIS friends-well one of the many, many reasons. We have many things in common, but one thing we all have in common is our love for Disney. Uniting us from all over the world. We come from all walks of life-some come from other countries, some live in Florida and others live clear across the US, but we’re all brought together by one man and his mouse. And that is Disney Magic. Thank you for reading and God bless each and every one of you and your families.
Oooh, well said
PS-I did find my Simpsons DVD’s.
Yahoo, you found them!
Thanks for writing this report, Linnie - it was really enjoyable, fun and entertaining :thumbsup2

Hi everybody! I'm still around!!
I've had my hands full lately with recovery and then Trey got sick. Plus they held the Special Olympics here in our town and he stayed home from school that day. He doesn't do well at the SO so his teacher & I decided he should stay home. He's been home a lot with me lately but he's going to school tomorrow. Hopefully. I hate to see him miss a lot.
I think I get my sutures out tomorrow! :yay: I'm going to attempt to drive myself to my appointment. I've been off the pain meds for a few days now so I should be ok.
My infection looks to be all gone. I've been keeping Buzz in line. He doesn't like "icky" stuff so if he gets lippy with me I just tell him to knock it off or I'll show him my incision. That pretty much makes him stop it. I snuck up to him and showed him my infection the other night. He almost passed out. :lmao: Yeah, I think we were made for each other. :sad2:

That's going to be my biggest challenge. Buzz is doing a good job filling in for me, but I clean much more thoroughly than he does. Our bathroom smelled like a urinal the other day. He said he cleaned it. I sure couldn't tell and neither could my sniffer. I had to show him where he missed the "spots" on the floor, side of the tub and shower glass from Trey. :sad2: Buzz doesn't handle constructive criticism well.... I razor bladed the counter today... Yikes. I think we had stuff growing on there. The garbages are over flowing, the windows all have finger prints on them, the floors has gunk on them and I could go on...I can't wait to get in the bathrooms and SCRUB. I have 4 weeks to go!!! Ahhhhh!!!:scared1: I never thought I'd miss cleaning.

:scared1: TMI!!! Razor blading the counter doesn't sound like something that would be prescribed by your doctor. The dirt will still be there when you are better able to clean it. I know it's hard but you don't want to take longer to heal because you overdid it. You are an awesome wife and mother even if you have to take a couple months off to do something for yourself.

So good to hear from you Linnie and that you're feeling better. Your report and the Man Report have been part of my daily routine and I've been going through withdrawal.

Hi LtP,
I am way back on page 50 but will try to catch up this weekend. Went to Buzz's page and saw the mess. Had to start reading backwards here to find out what the heck is going on. Unreal. :sad2:
Anyway, your TR is great so far and I'm lovin' the pics.
(psst...hey buzz, you big goofball!)

I've been lurking but enjoy the TR, and hope you're feeling better. Take it easy and make sure you're properly healed before you start in on those nasty bathrooms that Buzz is leaving for you.
Maybe you and Buzz could put all of your TRs on a blog? At least until Buzz is out of solitary . . . . .
