I have seen a lot of threads lately for pictures of specific resorts and thought it was time for one of Swalphin pix. So come on all you Swan/Dolphin fans and post your pix here. I'll start off with a few from our trip last June at the Swan.

Your welcome. I know I need lots of great pictures to help me make it until my trip and to add some sunshine to my winter.
Hopefully some others will come along soon and add their pictures too.

Here are several pictures of the S/D, both on the property, and several from the distance. Also a few of various views from the S/D property and/or rooms, looking off to other resorts. The pictures are from the resort thread in my signature, they are not current, like the past year or so, several may be dated, such as maybe a lobby picture, swan boats or the like. But they do give a bit of the ambiance of the resort.

Gorgeous pictures!:thumbsup2 We stayed at the Beach Club a couple of years ago, and one of my nieces fell in love with the looks of the Dolphin resort. She thought it looked very pretty and loved the fish on top.:goodvibes Can you tell me if the grotto pool closes down at night the way SAB does at the Beach Club? I'm supprised at the pics with no one in the pool at night, it looks so inviting!

:thumbsup2 Thanks Andy!

You're welcome Crazy Kanga. ;)

We're big fans of the Swan and Dolphin. We first stayed there in 2003 and have been hooked since.

On our first night we had a heck of a time. My DW was pregnant (early) and was having a really bad time sleeping. We got stuck beside the elevator on the first night and had some other issues. In any case at 3 in the morning my DW went down to the front desk and talked to the manager just to see if we could get our room moved away from the elevator. Bless her heart she let my DS5 and and I sleep and didn't wake us up. When we got up the next morning she had a big smile on her face and told me the story. She also told us we had a new room. So we got up and went to the new room. I was in shock. The manager at the Swan rocks!!! He put us in one of the Swan studio suites for the rest of our stay (11 nights). We were in absolute heaven.

This pic was taken when we just got in the room.

My trip isn't until June 27th. All my reservations(air, room,ADR's) were made long ago. Now I'm kind of in a lull as far as my trip goes. I hate this part because there's really nothing to do so there's no excitement. So,when I saw this thread,it got me psyched again! :goofy:

There are two outdoor hottubs. The one in the picture is back by the pool with the waterfalls.

If you're talking about the indoor one, that's a part of the Spa (located in the Dolphin Resort). I broke down and got a 1 hr massage while there!:goodvibes

Someone who has been in the last month or so posted pictures with new pink, blue and yellow boats that are not shaped like a swan. I asked whoever it was that posted the pics(Blondie or Kimmar I think) if the swan boats were still there and they said no. I am so sad since we didn't get a chance to ride them last year and had planned to this year.:sad2:

Great photos, so the only disadvantage of Swan & Dolphin is the fact it does not support Disney's Magical Express-- right???? You get all the other perks of it being a Disney Resort- right?
Do you know if you can request they remove the items from the minibar so you can use the refrigerator for food for a special needs child? My son has ASD & has a very limited diet of food he will eat.
We are staying at WL in Dec 2008, but I have always thought the Swan & Dolphin were very pretty/cozy looking resorts, but I sure do enjoy the advantages of the DME. :santa: :santa: :santa:

I have downloaded hundreds of awesome S/D photos since 2003, and as beautiful as all the Disney-owned resorts are, there are none more "photogenic" than the S/D!

For now, I'll only post pics I've taken, but I may live dangerously and post other people's photos, too.

Hi DisneyNDecember

Thanks for the photo comment. :thumbsup2

As far as I know you cannot participate in the DME and also the dining plan. The S/D has some awesome restaurants but unfortunately they are not included in the DDP. Also you cannot charge things in the parks to your hotel room. Other than that there's not much difference.

Sorry I missed your question about the fridge.

I think this is a grey area with the S/D. When we went in 2005 with our DD1.5 she was allergic to pretty much everything but sawdust. So I originally phoned the Dolphin directly and requested to have a fridge as I heard you can get a fridge at no cost for medical reasons. When I talked to the person at the front desk she told me that they don't do that any more and I'd have to pay $12 a day for a fridge. She was kind of rude and perhaps a bad time in the day for her. I called back the next day or that night (I can't remember exactly) as I wanted to talk to someone else about it. I asked for the manager on duty. She came on and was very nice and friendly. I explained about my DD needing a special diet and she said there was no problem and she'd have a (free) fridge ready in our room when we would arrive. Excellent customer service I thought and when we got there the fridge was set up with no issues at all. :thumbsup2

Dan - that is such a pretty picture - and I think that photo tells the whole story of the difference between the Swan and the Dolphin - the subdued, calm, reflective resort, or the hussle and bussle "never sleeps" resort! ;)

You're very welcome. I'm glad that you could use that little tidbit of info. :goodvibes That's one of the things about the S/D that I really don't like is to have to pay for that $12/day fridge especially when it's really needed. ;)

Lovely sunset shot, J.C.&ALI'SMOM.

I just got back late yesterday from a 3 night stay at the Dolphin. What a great resort! We were lucky enough to end up in a room with a balcony and an amazing view. Here's a snapshot from our first night.

You always have the most fabulous pics! This view is awesome! You have completely turned my thoughts around of ever wanting to stay there :goodvibes I always thought the Swan/Dolphin were kind of unappealing from the outside and I never saw hardly any balconies which I love to sit out on in the mornings but if I could get your view WITH a balcony with the great rates they tend to offer, then I'm convinced!

I'm glad you are enjoying the photos and hope you get to experience these resorts. I know there are many who think that they are not as good as a WDW run resort, but I beg to differ. With the better rates offered, the awesome location, deluxe amenities, etc. I would recommend them to anyone. We have stayed at all the monorail resorts and dearly love the Poly and the Cont. (well, DH does ;) ) but the rates are getting to be too much for us.

As far as the view from that room, there are not balconies in that area of the Dolphin. If you look at the photo posted just above mine by teruteru, that room was in the black square in the middle of the resort. There are some great balcony rooms though, because we have stayed in them. I would suggest that you join starwood's guest program, spg.com. We usually get upgraded since we have joined and earn points that we hope to use for a few free nights.

Here's a photo from our balcony that shows some balconies across the way. There are quite a few balcony rooms in the various wings of the resort. It was a treat to get one and I really enjoyed sitting out there with a cup of coffee early in the morning or a glass of wine at night. I'll definitely pay more to guarantee the balcony room when I book again in the future.

I thought I'd try something different and share a video clip I shot from our balcony at the Dolphin. I warn you that the quality isn't so good because I shot this on my elph. You can see the Swan off to the side and the Friendship dock. The Tower of Terror is there in the back. There was a thunderstorm off in the distance that night, and Tower of Terror looks especially menacing when backlit by lightning.

Here are the new "motor boats" at the Dolphin - (June 2008)... DD15 said she prefered the "Swan boats" much better. The motors really are slow - she felt it was quicker to pedal yourself! (or have DAD pedal, to be more precise! :rotfl: ) http://i162.photobucket.com/albums/t264/RTVBishop/Disney%202008/DSCN4078.jpg

...except there isn't much "buzz" in them! :goodvibes ...and, they seem to breakdown a lot. There were a few times when DD could not take one out for a ride because they were all "out of service" for one mechanical reason or another. :confused3 She really did prefer the Swan paddle boats. (they looked prettier on the lake, too. lol)

Any recent pictures of Dolphin rooms since the refub? We were there last year and had an old room. I was hoping someone had been there recently that had some inside the room pics. I am assuming they will look like the Swan rooms, but it still would be nice to see them.:flower3:

There are 3 'wings' to the Dolphin. East, West and Central. We stayed in the West most recently and some things have been refurbished, such as the carpet, lamps and I think the drapes. I don't know if all the rooms in the West wing have been done over or not.

I heard that they refubished some of the dolphin rooms I was curious to see what they look like. I wish I would have known when I checked in I would have asked for a different room.

Wedway07 and Erin1998: We had a Standard Room view in the East wing. Our room number was 854 and it overlooked the front of the resort. Looking out to the right we could see Tower of Terror and looking out to the left we could see the waterway to DHS. At night there were lots of search lights shooting into the sky from DHS which looked cool. If we looked down we saw the drop off area at the front door of the resort as well as the bus stop area. We didn't have a balcony (much to DD9's dismay), but the view was fine for us especially since we didn't spend much time staring out the window--we were at the parks being commandos!:rotfl2:

Tuffcookie- I love your view from the Swan! I was hoping to stay here in May with my hubby and daughter and would love to know what room number you had (if you can remember that) or what kind of room you had! (If it's not too intrusive and you don't mind saying, you can PM me & shock me with the price too!:cutie:)

Swan and Dolphin Lovers- :lovestruc -I don't know much about the Swan or Dolphin and I get a lot of mixed answers as to what it really is! Some people say that it is affordable and prices compare to the Disney moderates, yet when I have tried booking a room with a balcony,
well- ! I get prices in the $400 dollars per night range! Plus resort fees and parking fees! And I noticed there is a mini bar but no fridge (can you stick leftovers and milk in the fridges?)! I would love a reply if you have time and you don't mind!

Everyone! Please include what made you choose Swan/ Dolphin over a Disney resort! Thank you so much! :flower3 P.S. love all the pics! :)

Oh, what great photos!

It has been waaay too long since we've been back to the Swan or Dolphin for a stay. Although we could book the teachers rate, the daily resort fee is annoying when I would use nothing included...and now that I finally tried ME, it does make more sense than to pay $120 for a car service...sigh...but I do love the Dolphin - spent many wonderful vacations there when it was new.

Again, thanks for the great photos!
