Since there's so much talk of carts lately, what a perfect time to show us your cart or at least the one you want. Here's mine and several other "sweet" carts we saw at the Fort last week.

That blue Yamaha has the footrest that folds up that I need. I have a side loading toy hauler and if I mount the permanent one on there it won't fit.

I saw that Dodge cart at Trails End MLK Weekend. The couple were talking to Josephine when we walked up.

Thanks. We went back and forth trying to decide between matching the truck and a disney theme. We went with the matching the truck figured if our cart looked like Mickey here in Texas at other camp grounds they would look at us like we are nuts.(We are Disney nuts so they would be correct:) ) So we just flew our pirates flag at FW.pirate:

Our golf cart is very boring and plain. We live on 7 acres and our house sits back about 800 ft from the road. We bought the GC because it's fun to use it to check the mail and pick up the kids from the bus after school. We want to get a new one eventually because we seem to be having battery issues. We've taken it to two different people to have it looked at, and they all say it's fine. It is VERY slow though and doesn't have any get up and go. It's not worth putting new batteries into, so when we get some extra money we are going to get a new cart...and when we do I am going to take it to my BIL so he can customize it for me.:thumbsup2

Who carries the seats with the fold up footrests? Ive looked around(not extensively) and havent seen any dealers with them so far. Im gonna need a rear seat for whatever cart I finally get (hopefully I will win an ebay auction today for a nice one). Id LIKE to do all my customizing purchasing from Tungpo...just to keep it in the family, so to speak, but didnt see them on his sight either....but noticed that he has alot of merchandise on ebay that he doesnt have listed on his sight.
Tungpo...can you get those?

Not yet. I'm still toying with the idea of selling mine and going to gas. I've got a 94 Club Car that's stock right now. I'd check the warranty on these. The only thing I see that could be a problem is if the hinge breaks you have to order another one.

This weekend we couldn't get into the fort so we we to Ocala. I saw people launching Jet Ski's and one guy Launch a small ( 17 ish foot ) boat with a Cart. They were Gas but still.. It was a very light incline which I'm sure made a difference. I didn't think they had the weight etc. to do it without having the front tires come off the ground.

I did post some...Funny story about my ipod speakers. Walmart had these camping chairs with speakers built into the arms and a pocket for any size mp3 player with all the wiring running through the arms, etc. I just stripped the chair and drilled a couple of holes for wires in the glove boxes, I installed one of the titanium dash covers with 4 cupholders, well the speakers were the perfect size for the 2 smaller cupholders. The batterypack for powering the speakers is in the glove box(it has a key lock) and I simply turn on the ipod, throw it on shuffle and throw it in the glove box too...instant tunes!!
Here's some pics of the cart(pre-speakers, I havent photo'd the speakers yet) GeckGhost (http://www.disboards.com/showpost.php?p=23915801&postcount=3416)

Very cool about the speakers fitting perfectly in the cup holders! We need to look around and see what we can find. Of course dd9 is the only one with an ipod and all of her songs are either HM, Ali & AJ etc...haha. :headache: Maybe I'll pick up one of those little ipod shuffles and keep it in the locked glove box.

To be honest, ipod is not worth the extra $$$, Id just get any old mp3 player, ipod music HAS to come from itunes.com (something about the format) and cost a buck a song....you can load ANY mp3 into most other mp3 players for free...I have an mp3 library of over 7000 songs(Im a DJ for a living) and If I had to depend on itunes...Id be broke.

My dad has an iPod and loads his own music onto it. (He would NEVER pay for itunes). My son has an ipod shuffle and loads his own tunes onto it. (Cause I haven't seen any charges from itunes on the credit card.)

I think the misconception comes from the fact that you use iTunes (the software) to load music onto the iPod, but you don't HAVE to buy music from the iTunes Store to load to your iPod. You can import any music into iTunes to sync to the iPod.

BigDaddyRog
03-26-2008, 02:45 PM
This is good to know....My ipod IS loaded with a few ipod tunes, but its the same songs that have been on it for a loooooong time..Im gonna see about loading my mp3s on it now!!!

BTW...Ive decided the little speakers I installed yesterday sound crappy...might have to buy some decent speakers. (yesterday I had NO tunes, now my system aint good enough....ya see how things happen here???)

Haha...sounds like me and my dh...it *was* ok, but now we want better sound quality!

We have tons of mp3 files on our computers that we load on her iPod and rip from cd's. The only purchases i'll let her make from iTunes is covered by the iTunes gift cards she receives from family on special occasions.

iTunes is just an interface. You can take any old CD you have of music and bring it into iTunes to load up onto your iPod mp3 player.

As soon as I get a receiver mounted on the back of my fiver I'll be able to get my cart to the fort. I picked up a used Swivel Wheel 78 here locally. You can see pictures of it on the craigslist ad; http://dallas.craigslist.org/mcy/581681146.html. The guy I bought it from did a couple of nice things to it. He put on a rubber floor trimmed aroung the edges with aluminum and channels for a motor cycle and bicycles. I won't need the m/c channel and I'm going to have to move the bicycle channels a little further apart since they are currently mounted at exactly the same width as my cart. A spare tire was also included with it. He also custom made wheels mounted on square tube stock that fit into the stake pockets along one side and allow you to store the trailer on its edge. That way I can store it in my shop out of the weather without taking up much space. It wasn't really a bad deal at all. Only thing I can say is if I hadn't loaded the thing behind the truck myself I would have never known it was back there. The way the 78 tapers front to back it disappears behind the dually.

Im not sure what happend...I was riveting the plexiglass to the frame and after the 5th one, I noticed the crack!!! Im gonna call around and see how much a new piece of plexi is...but I heard its pretty hefty in price considering its just a piece of plastic.....then Id have to remove the rivets, which seems wont be the easiest thing in the world to do. I may just blow it off for a while till after I get some HP in the motor.

I may just blow it off for a while till after I get some HP in the motor.

Rog, here's a little tip to prevent those cracks. Put a 1/4" nut over the stem of the rivet before you squeeze the rivet gun. It's works wonderfully!

Hey Rog nice cart. A little trick I learned working on helicopters. If the crack is not too large you can drill a small hole at the point where the crack ends. Just be gentle and dont push or the crack will run. Drilling will stop it from growing further. Its called stop drilling.

BTW...Ive decided the little speakers I installed yesterday sound crappy...might have to buy some decent speakers. (yesterday I had NO tunes, now my system aint good enough....ya see how things happen here???)
There is a free program called Sharepod that you can use to put songs on an Ipod or take them off. While I've only done it once, I can take someone elses IPOD and copy all the music off of it to put on mine. I'm just short of 5000 myself.

[/IMG]I haven't been on much so I missed this thread. This is our cart. My DH had it repainted to a color closer to a NYC taxi cab. He loves it. Just ordered a new engine, wiring system, etc.
When we were there last time he took it down to the boat to wait for his DD coming back from MK. He has a plug in light on the top that says "Taxi". He said that he was asked many times if he really was a taxi and would he take them back to their site. :rotfl2: By the time he got back to our site he said he could have made a fortunate off of tired parents/kids. Of course my DH would have spent the night just taxing people around for free so he could chat with them.:lmao:

Now here's my question... What is the best and easiest cart to Pimp out? I want to get one to work on with my son. Would like to be able to use it at my pop's farm and it would need to go somewhat fast but not over the speed limit of course! ::cop:
Any ideas? I do have some mechanical abilities (regardless of what the DW says!).

Yamaha gas carts are the easiest to make faster. My yamaha does about
30 mph now. Ez-go and Club Car have more after market choices.

If you go with the Club Cars...dont get the Regen2 type...not much in the speed options area unfortunately. All 3 major brands(Club Car, Yamaha, EZGO) have plenty of "Pimpin accessories"...so find something thats affordable and have fun with it!!

It doesn't get any better than this . . . Thanks for the pictures everyone!

What are the average dimensions and weight of a four person golf cart (L/W/\H)???

BigDaddyRog
06-10-2008, 02:58 PM
On pretty close average for most brands is 4'wide, 8.5'long(with rear footrest), and if you have a roof(most do)usually in the rough neighborhood of just under 6'high

My electric cart (Club Car) is about 1100lbs...dont know about other brands or gas motored ones

Cute checkered cab! I was trying to make out the "taxi rates" but my eyes must be going bad! :3dglasses
I saw this one when we were there...I think it was in April or December.

Has anyone ever tried to put a cart with the flip up foot rest in an 8 foot bed truck? We're thinking of purchasing this back seat assembly for a Club Car and hopefully put the tail gate up on the long bed truck?? :confused3 Ron?

I have an F-250 short bed and this back seat on my golf cart. I have an EZ-Go (I think they are a little shorter than a Club Car) and the cart is about 6"-8" too long to close the tail gate with the foot rest folded up. So an 8' bed would work fine.

Look at the final post LoneStar made in the following thread. I would imagine that would work for you. I've even thought of doing the very same thing for mine just so I can go ahead and close the tailgate.

http://www.disboards.com/showthread.php?t=1693649&page=3
I used to travel with my tail gate cable looped like this but I noticed that the gate still hit my gas bottle cover in tight turns so I bought an extra ratchet type strap and really cinch it up tight to the folded up foot rest. It may still hit, I'm not sure.

Stacktester...do you have the folding foot rest seat yet? All of the dealers we spoke to yesterday had not heard of it either. I was curious about the quality...?

Thanks!
The quality seems to be as good as any other. It is all aluminum so it won't rust. The step and platform for the seat are diamond plate and have a high polish. The seat flip flops to make a flat bed "truck" out of the golf cart. I wasn't interested in this feature, but can see it coming in handy for transporting camp chairs, folding tables, and food to pot luck dinners. One thing I have noticed, the hinged arms that support the step in the open position pivot on bolts with nylon lock nuts. It seems despite the nylon locks in the thread, one of the bolts on either side has vibrated loose on every other trip or so down to the Fort. I have had to replace each side's bolt, washers, and lock nuts at least once.

The MM folding step rear seat is designed to fit the Club Car brand but also is adapted for Yamaha and EZ-go. The installation instructions assumes you know how to install a rear seat and doesn't have any photos for reference, but if you take your time and refrain from partaking any cool ones while working even I could manage...and I have two left hands that are all thumbs.:rotfl: The upholstery is also matched to the Club Car brand so if you don't have black or white seats (we didn't) the tan won't be a good match. We were planning on getting Sunbrella rain enclosure and seat covers anyway so it didn't matter.

Speaking of seat covers. The MM folding step rear seat does NOT have a standard seat so if you plan on getting seat covers you will have to do as we did and order a set for the front seat and have your dealer (Sunbrella doesn't sell to the public) order enough extra fabric to have the seat covered and take it to an upholstery shop and have them make a permanent, non-removable, seat cover for the rear seat. This cost us $450 in addition to the cost of the fabric!!!:furious: I was not a happy camper! So much for "friends" in the business.

I haven't figured out how to post pictures yet (in addition to the two left had thing, I can be techno-deficient at times, too) but I'll try and figure that out and post them if I can. I will be glad to answer questions if I can. PM me if you want or post to this thread.

Youve got all the bells and whistles to make it street legal....are you planning to get a tag for it? It would be great to help save on a little gas making quick runs to the grocery(beer)store and other erands around the house!!! Good job.

No tag. It's just that the campground I own a lot in is so big and has so many carts buzzin around that some times there are traffic jams and my wife insisted on the lights.

We live in a very rocky area (north Delaware within 1 mile of the highest point in the state, all of 447')but most of the rocks are well below ground. I have 2 that are the size of a small car in my yard. They both came from the basement hole when they were building the house.

I understand that method, but I thought you could post them here on the Dis. I doubt if my cart ever makes it to FW, but here is a pic of my cart right before Halloween list year.

It looked pretty neat when it got dark and the lantern and lantern lights were on.

The second pic is not so great but you get the idea.

Krylon Sun Yellow from Wal-Mart. 6 coats of white primer, (to cover the red paint) 3 coats of yellow, 2 coats of clear and a lot of wet sanding with 600 grit paper. I thought about that but the shop around here can only do 1 color decals and I would want multiple colors.

If the sign shop could make you some good red flames, just buy a can of that new "rustoleum universal" in orange and sorta dust the tips and edges of the red vinyl decal before you apply it to the cart. That way you'd have a fading effect against the yellow background of the cart.

Or buy some 1/8" masking tape(available at just about any auto paint dealer, or on eBay), and tape off your own flames...being 1/8 of an inch, its pretty easy to curve, then fill in all the blanks with regular 1" & 2" masking tape and/or newspaper. shoot the whole thing with red, then dust your tips with one color, your edges with another. That way you wont have the lip that the vinyl decal will leave.

Just have them do 2 different colors and overlay one on the other.

Good ideas guy's. Not sure if I will do anymore to that cart with the paint. I still want to repaint my cart before we head back to FW. Not sure what color. yet.

My DH has finally finished the golf cart (I think). We went camping over the 4th and were the hit of the campground. Of course many people actually asked if we were a real taxi. Ummm, no but do you need a ride? Most people turned me down but I did get flagged down by the neighbor who was picking up wood at the camp store. :lmao:

I'll trade you for ya'lls cart. I'll even peel off the Gatordad sticker and give it to Pete. I got a few chances to drive the G Dad cart over the weekend. It was before and after the GG. Once the drinks were flowing everybody kept saying take a step back from the cart Donnie.

I'm thinking of doing my cart in the Dale Sr. theme. I've seen some really nice one's.

Congrats on the new cart.

It's electric. It needs new batts so I'll probably throw in the Sams Specials. I'll be getting one thing done at a time. 1st thing will be to lift it 4" and then put some new tires on. Next will be a back seat. Next will be a motor like G dad has on his cart. That thing will fly. It's a 96 and if I decide I don't like it I can get my money back. The old guy who has it just wants it gone for 500 bucks. It's in pretty good shape. Heck I bet I could probably throw in the new batts and make $500 quick.
