Getting to Asterix Parc

We're looking to book a week off site in August for the 5 of us, staying around Torcy or Bussy, but we won't have a car.

Our plan is to fly [from Edinburgh] to CDG and get one of the private transfers to our hotel, then take the train each morning to DLP for maybe 3 full day visits and one or two days into Paris by train too.

But we'd like a day in Asterix Parc as well and it doesn't look easily accessable by public transport. It seems that we'd need to take the train into Paris centre and then another back out again to Asterix Parc at CDG station. And the same back at the end of the day - That's not going to be much fun, is it?

Have any of you got a better idea?

I guess no one has tried it using public transport :)

I did a search earlier too and it does seem that no-one has any experience of this without a car.

It just seems such a shame to be so near and not going to Asterix. Maybe I'll figure something out. Thanks.

Would it be a possibility for us to take the train from Torcy/Bussy to DLP, then the VEA or TGV from there to CDG instead of going via Paris?

Once at CDG I believe there is a shuttle bus to Asterix Parc.

Yes, it would be. You'd want to take the TGV to CDG as it only takes about 10 minutes whereas the VEA takes approx an hour. There are links to the TGV timetable in The Very Useful Info sticky. :)

Thanks TGV sounds a good option :thumbsup2 . Do you think we could just turn up for these trains?...I wouldn't need to book tickets in advance, or would I?

...or I suppose another option for us would be to book into a hotel at CDG on our arrival evening. Then we could do Asterix the next day and then carry on to a different hotel in Torcy/Bussy for the rest of the stay.

Either way, I beginning to think that a hire car might be a good idea after all.
