Using DDE card while on the DDP?

Are you allowed to use your Disney Dining Experience card for 20% off alcoholic beverages and any additional food (appetizer, salad, etc.) that you purchase out of pocket while using the Disney Dining Plan? Thank you in advance.

That's a really good question. I never thought about doing that.

I don't see why not... just tell your server to put those items on a separate check and use your DDE card......

One reason why I asked was when we were there last year I was told I couldn't put my drinks (alcoholic) on the DDE card while on the dining plan. I only asked at one restaurant though and maybe I wasn't given the correct information. Where I would be purchasing food in addition to an alcoholic beverage I didn't know if it would make a difference.

We would have been up a creek if this was the case last year! My DH and mom drank us out of house and home ;):rotfl:

Seriously though, we went in April and October last year. Both times on the DDP and both times charged our alcohol to the DDE and used the DDP for the meals. We never had a problem at:

Mama Melrose
LeCellier
Chef Mickey
Whispering Canyon Cafe
Cap'n Jack's
Boma
Jiko
50's PTC
Les Chefs de France
Spoodles

We also used the DDE to pay for our food and drinks at Victoria & Albert's, also not a problem.

We couldn't use it for alcohol alone at the Margarita stand in Mexico or the Grey Goose Slushie stand in France. So Kiosk's didn't take it, but restaurants and lounges all did.

(Being that I was pregnant in October, I lost track of where the rest of my family was drinking - I just made sure everyone got home alright)

I can confirm as well. We used DDE for drinks in Dec 07.

I'll third that- it's perfectly OK to put the extras and alcohol on the DDE. :thumbsup2

Yes, you can use the DDE with DDP. At least in 2007 it was okay.
