Hi Lisa, I'm Mary and I live in the nw suburbs of Chicago were it is a balmy 9 degrees right now. Sure wish I was on a cruise today :lmao: I have two kids, a boy, 3, and a girl, 6. I used to live in Germantown, TN briefly when I was a kid.

Wow!! 9 degrees..Holy Cow!! We thought we were cold at 42 today! I'm sending you some warm wishes! What do you do ? I'm a SAHM and i'm 33.
This will be our 2nd Disney cruise, my mom and stepdad are going along as well and this will be their first disney cruise and their first cruise ever! I talked them into a room with verandah, that it was definitely worth the $$!! Looking forward to "chatting" with you more!!

Hi Lisa, I'm a SAHM too, and my parents and my in-laws are also joining us on the cruise. I'm hoping we can add on a few days in WDW before the cruise too.
Unfortunately, your warm wishes are not making a dent in our snow yet! It just won't quit, but at least the temps are in the teens today:lmao: Anyway, hope you have a great holiday!:santa:
tngal
12-23-2008, 06:08 PM
Oh man! Maybe I need to wish a little harder for some warm temps your way! We have been having lows in the teens but it does warm up to around 35 or 40 during the day.
I look forward to my mom and dad coming along...but i don't know if i could handle traveling with the in-laws lol.
If you don't get to go to WDW before the cruise, where will you stay? We want to spend an extra day or two before but just not WDW. My dh,kids and myself stayed at the Radisson last time, but just was not overly impressed. We were looking at the Residence inn this tme around, esp. with their being more of us going.
Do you know your room assignment yet? I am already planning the magnetic signs and stuff for our door :) You think I might be somewhat excited about our trip lol.
I have a myspace if you would like to check it out and add me if you do myspace as well. just go to myspace.com/scarlett233. Hope to hear from you soon and have a great Christmas!

Ok, I don't know about the rest of you guys, but I could definitely handle being on the Wonder right now! It is pouring down snow right now and I'm soooo cold! Its just so hard to pass the time until Dec. isn't it lol. I think it would be great if the "3 girls" got to know one another also and had someone somewhat familiar to play with! Now if it was the same with my oldest DD!! She has a hard time making friends because she is mildly autistic and that tends to "scare" off some of the other kids. She is very loving and wants to be everyones friend.
Hope to hear from all of you soon and hope to maybe some new faces on here soon!!!!!

Granted we've not been nowhere near as cold as you've been, but cold enough here! I would Definitely rather be on the Wonder right now! We had about 2 inches of snow and Wind chills in the single digits...BRRR!! Looking forward to relaxing on the balcony with a drink in my hand!!
Just wondering....are any of you planning on using or interested in the Fish Extender thing? I was looking at making some, but didn't know if this cruise meet thread had gotten big enough for that yet. I think the fish extender would be fun, especially for the kids. I wanted to make some door magnets as well.
Its finally hit the low 30's here again, so we're coming out of the deep freeze, at least temporarily. :cool1:

We booked as well!!! We will be staying at the Poly for 5 nights before we get on the Wonder. Along with myself, I'll have DH, DS (3 almost 4 years old then), and DS (just turned 1 then). We are going to celebrate my birthday that I share with my youngest son.
This will be our third Disney cruise for us, our oldest son's second (if you don't count when I was pregnant for the first one), and our youngest son's first.
We can't wait to return to Disney and see all the Christmas decorations. I've seen the pictures of Castaway Cay and we are so excited.

This is great! I am so glad to see this group adding more people on to it! Who knows how big it will be by the time sail time rolls around!!
As for the Fish extenders, it is just something where everyone in your cruise thread group exchanges little gifts, mainly for the kids. Nothing outrageous or expensive, but just little trinket type things. You can do a google search and their are several threads that will come up that will give you some info.
Do any of you have myspace or facebook? If you would like to see pics or have a more "personable" way to message just PM me and I'll send you the link to either of my pages. Just thought it would be nice to "meet" who we're gonna cruise with!!
So, Alldiz...you're gonna be my "neighbor" onboard huh? Cool!!

Considering that we are currently under a ice storm warning, I really wish that I was on the Wonder. My sister is currently on the Magic in the Western Carribean. Oh to be her right now...
We are also on deck 6 in room 6108.
I haven't looked into the fish extenders yet but need to do that. My two month old sometimes hinders the computer time!
I'm also very interested in making my little ones pirate costumes for this trip. My oldest will be very excited to dress up so I'm wanting to get a head start on sewing. If I can only convince my husband to dress up as well.
I'm not on facebook or anything but my kids have their own website...

I understand completely about the little on taking up computer time!
I wish I could sew! I couldn't sew a straight line, much less a whole pirate costume lol. I think if my girls dress up, it will probably be bought!!
I'm interested in doing the fish extender as well, but I will attempt to make it lol. I am still researching and trying to find out exactly how the whole fish extender gift exchange thing works :) This is just our 2nd cruise and our first one was last minute, so I didn't have time to get into all that stuff.

Couldn't help by spy on this thread since I've done this same cruise 3 years in a row..and because of too much going on around the first of Dec this year..I'm going to TRY and resist booking AGAIN! :rotfl2: But, don't feel too sorry for me..I'm considering the first of Nov! (another date I've done in the past and LOVED) If history repeats itself...the weather should be "WONDER"ful..and you'll love all the Christmas decorations...
I noticed talk of the FE ... and I had to speak up....I used a bright green (the DIS color) Christmas stocking that I bought from Target...and then added my own personal Disney touch to it....so, keep that in mind...or even take a plain red stocking...Tis the Season! It makes a great FE!!! 2008 was the first time I did the FE...we had about 12 cabins....the kids LOVED coming back to the room each night to find our stocking full of goodies...I have to admit I thought it was really neat too...I came up with at least 4 different FE gift ideas to be delivered 4 times!! After the first delivery I passed that job off to my kids...next time I might rethink how "Minnie" times/gifts...WAIT...no..probably not...I LOVE sharing...I'll just inlist the kids AGAIN!
Have fun!!! Ok..I'm ready to book and start planning!!:cheer2: :hourglass

Oh...Believe me I wish I could!! If it wasn't for the fact I'm in charge of decorating for a "Christmas Dance" for 7th and 8th graders taking a Social Dance class...I would!!! The decorating is done on Sunday and I missed it last year and since I'm in charge this year...I just can't!:rotfl2:
I know ya'll will have a blast...and the FE was alot of fun...the only regret is that I didn't get a chance (or maybe didn't take advantage of the opportunity) to meet but one of the givers and that's because I recognized her from her Dis picture.....people were so thoughtful...it would have been nice to be able to say "Thank You". If/When I have a "Do Over" that might be another thing I would do differently....FYI!
Good Luck!

That is one thing I'm researching myself! I have heard a few people say things like postcards, magnets, etc from your state, glow bracelets and necklaces, candies, etc. I know someone said if you did a google search for "fish extender gifts" that you would come up with several ideas. I haven't decided myself, this is my first FE deal and I am learning as well :)

So is everyone booked on deck 6 but us? We're on deck 2 with connecting rooms with my parents.

I bought the stuff to make my Fish extender, don't know how it will turn out though. I'm not that crafty. But I enjoy making stuff! When it gets closer to time to sail we'll have to do a "vote" and see if anyone still wants to do the Fish extender and get a list of sorts to go by, how does that sound?

This weekend we are booking 2 pkgs. One will be the cruise from 12/3 - 12/6 and we are also booking 4 nights at WDW. We are separating our land and sea package and purchasing them separately. This way we can adjust our land pkg since there will be extras that we need but some things that we don't. So we will see you on Dec 3rd aboard the ship.
By the way, I am Mary a SAHM from Chicopee, MA and my kids are Tyler age 12 and Samantha age 11 when we board the ship.
The kids dont know about the trip or any of our other surprises. We are mom-napping my mom for the entire trip to. All expenses paid, she just needs spending money so how can she say no to coming with us. This is our first cruise so it is more exciting. But because it is so close to Christmas, we plan on spending one of our WDW days by surprising the kids with a trip to Sea World.
I will let you know more of our cruise info as I know it too.

We are looking into 3 different resorts. We are booking the land separate from our cruise to get the most out of it. We will in WDW for 4 nights just like the package but we only need 3 day park hoppers as the day before the cruise we plan on attending the day at Sea World as a Christmas Present for the kids.
Since there are 5 of us in our party we are looking into either The Poly, Port Orleans Riverside (trundle bed) or even the All Star Music Suites. So this should get more interesting except that right now I am lagging due to the weather, DS just being in the hospital last night and dealing with girl scout cookie sales. Yep I am the cookie mom. How great of me.

Ok well it is official we are booked on the cruise. We will have rooms 6000 for my mom and 6002 for us. So more fun on Deck 6. I think I am going to get one of those Dry Erase boards so that we can leave fun messages on our doors for one another. Granted that our rooms are in the forward at the end of the floor but hopefully you can all take the LONGGGGGGGGGGGGG Stroll down to our rooms to write on our door.

I just booked this cruise! It will be me, my DH, 14 yr old DS and my Mom. This will be our 5th Disney cruise and my Mom's first. I am not an experienced FE person, but I will be. I have organized the exchange for our March 28th Magic cruise. I am "supposed" to get the $99 bounceback voucher on the March cruise, so I booked this one and will just send the voucher in when I get it. I say "supposed" because Disney added the FL resident discount after the fact to my March cruise. I sure hope it doesn't interfere with me getting the voucher deal.

Hi and welcome! Glad to know we'll have someone experienced in the FE's!! I have got to get started in making mine. I've been on one other Disney cruise before, but we didn't do the FE then, so this will be an experience! You will be just down the hall from me, we are in 6606 and 6604! It will be me, Dh, dd11, dd5, and mom and dad. Can't wait to hear more from you!

Just wanted to drop by and say hi to everyone! I have completed the shirts I had planned for our cruise. When I get the chance I will post some pics of them if you all would like to see them. I had a blast making them lol. Now I need to start on my FE, the girls autograph books and journal pages, and I thought I'd work on some of the magnets for the door as well.
When it gets a little closer we'll probably need someone to "head up" our FE exchange. I would volunteer to do it but i have no experience with it. I am still stumped as to what I would like to buy for the gifts!!
Hope to hear from you all soon! Hugs!

Hi everyone!
I just booked this cruise on Wednesday and we are all so excited about being on one of the ships at Christmas time and seeing the beautiful decorations. We just got back from the 7 day Eastern last week, this will be our bounceback cruise.
My family consists of me, DH, DD (age 6) and DS (age 3 but will be 4 by the time of the cruise). This will be our 8th Disney cruise. I've been reading through this thread and it seems like a great group of people. Looking forward to meeting you all!

I am sailing on March 28th and booked this for my bounceback as well. What did you think of St. Croix?
The ship docks at Frederiksted, which is a small town on the far side of the island. There is not much there. Since my kids are so young, we did not do a shore excursion. When you get off the ship, there is a public beach a short walk away, that is where we went. The beach does not look that great from the ship but it wasn't bad. The water was clear, although it was rocky the further out you get. We rented chairs for $5 each from a very friendly attendant on the beach. There were very clean bathrooms with showers. My kids had a fantastic time playing in the sand. Afterwards we walked briefly in the town, there is not much there but everyone was very friendly. Everything is in Christiansted, on the other side of the island. So, all things being equal we prefer St. Maarten but I really don't have a full picture of St. Croix since we stayed in Frederiksted.

We are planning to do exactly what you did in St. Croix. We love St. Maarten so I have a feeling we won't like St. Croix as much either. But, we are not going into Christiansted.

Hello everyone!!! Just thought i'd drop in and say hi...been working on some of the cruise magnets for the cruise, that is until my printer decided to die on me :headache: I am trying something different this time. I just can't see paying out the prices i've found on the magnetic sheets, so instead i'm printing it out on card stock, and using the self-laminating sheets, then applying magnetic strips on each corner. What do you all think, will that hold as well as the magnetic sheets?
I finished most of my shirts that I was going to make ...I will post some pics of them on here if you all would like to see them. Hope to hear from you all soon!!

Hi all! We are planning on this cruise too! We did the 4 day Feb 1 and can't wait to go back!
We haven't booked yet, as our bounceback offer doesn't allow until April 6. Did those of you doing bounceback get to book with that offer, or did you just book it and plan to convert it in April? I didn't know you could do that.
TIA!! I'm looking forward to chatting with you all about it!

Thanks! I better get cracking then!!
We did have magnets and T-shirts on our last cruise and some don't have the specific date, just 2009, so we plan to re-use them. The one did have the date, but my DH was the only one to have that shirt. I can't find the pics of the magnets, but we did one with the picture from the red shirts that we all wore at boarding.
Here's some pics:

We're official!!!
We are booked in cabin 6101! Another deck 6 family! We were told we can just mail in our vouchers after 4/6.
So here's about us:
I am a 40 yr old lawyer - I work in the court system with a judge as her law clerk, doing research and writing.
My DH is a mailman and also works selling merchandise/shirts at the Xcel Energy Center in St. Paul, MN where the MN Wild play.
DD 8 is in 2nd grade and is involved in gymnastics and dance (for now).
DD6 (is celebrating her b-day today!) is in kindergarten and also in gymnastics and dance.
We were on the 2/1/09 4 day and have also been on a Carnival Cruise in 2008.

Booked yesterday! :yay:
I haven't been on the Dis in a long time, but that was my first thought after I booked!
We have 2 kids - my son will be one week shy of 7 and my daughter will be 2 when we sail. My mother and step-father are going as well. This will be mine and DH's 4th disney cruise. Everyone's else's 3rd except DD which will be her first. Our last cruise was in 2005 so it's been way too long!
We booked Cat. 12 because it was $300 cheaper than a cat. 11 and my TA told me we would be in a cat. 11 anyway. I don't care - just get me on the ship. Can't wait to see it decorated for the holidays.
Does anyone know what temperature the water will be in the Bahamas in December?
:wave2: TNgal! I'm just a tad bit south of you in Chattanooga. Are you driving or flying? I'm hoping the Allegiant flights will be $19 and on the right dates. If not we're driving.

Thanks! Of course I found them on the DISigns thread. I didn't do any designing myself. We all wore the porthole ones on pirate night with some pirate accessories. Might bring them again! My DD6 just turned 6 yesterday! My DD8 would probably be in a different group in the Oceaneer's club/lab, but DD6 will probably not want to go without her, she didn't spend that much time there last time and they were together!
I might be able to fashion something for a FE and be interested in doing that.

I'm in the process of booking for those dates for friends and their kids. I was helping them decide on a stateroom and I think I finally decided on the deluxe family stateroom w/verandah (room 8528) - right next to the Family Suite. I've been trying to decide on 3 or 4 night for them but this will be their first cruise with a 3 & 10 yr old so I didn't know if 3 days was enough.
This helped me select a stateroom http://www.wdwinfo.com/wdwinfo/cruise-new/roomlist.cfm. I was originally looking at category 6 (room 6620 has great reviews) but for just a few dollars more I decided to book the category 4 (giving extra room). I'm so excited for them - just hope before I hit the "book" button on the Disney website that I won't regret booking 3 nights instead of 4!! Any input out there would be appreciated!!

Welcome Kellyb2000! Maybe you'll end up on deck 2 with us-everyone else seems to be on deck 6.
This is our first cruise, so I'm not sure about the water temperature in December, but I hope it will be warm enough to get wet:goodvibes

Hi everybody!
I was just reading up on fish extenders and it looks like fun! I think I'll make one (or at least try) Who is coordinating this one?
Those shirts are awesome! I like the porthole design too and that family shirt is way cute!
I'm using magnet strips mainly because it's easier for me. I got some of those mickey head paint chips and made a few magnets with those. I have to get my creative juices flowing.

Me 42and DH 46 are renewing our vows after 20 years on this cruise. We are taking our 4 kids, DS25, DS 23, DD 21, DS 17, sons girlfriend, daughter's boyfriend and our 1 yr old Grandson. Then my sister, her husband and her son 15 and daughter 19. We are also on deck 6. Rooms 6603, 6605, 6609, 6611. This is our 4th Disney cruise. We have done the 3 day and then fell in love and did the 7 day western twice. Are using our DVC points and only had enough to do a 3 day with 13 people. Which is amazing.
We always seem to meet at least a couple fellow DISers before we sail. I personally cannot wait for this trip.

I am going to "try" (and I stress the word "try") to make my fish extender this wk if nothing happens :) As for who is coordinating this FE exchange..I don't think we've decided just yet. I still have to figure out what i'm going to give in the exchange...i'm not very creative lol. I need to go to Lowe's and smuggle some paint chips as well lol. I think i'll be using the magnet strips on mine as well. I can't really afford to put out any more money on crafty items right now and I have loads of cardstock and self laminating pouches.
Can't wait to hear more from all of you!!!

For those wishing to participate in the FE exchange, please pm me your names (first and last), age and sex of your children and stateroom number. There will be no rules. You can deliver gifts one night or all three. It will totally be up to you. We will deliver to all staterooms in our group unless we have too many. Then we will break up into groups and I will assign who you will deliver to.

We got candy, stickers, pirate necklaces, magnets, mini bottles of rum and bourbon, a personalized tote bag, hand sanitizer, a zebra print cosmetic pouch, handmade bookmarks, a Mickey lampwork bead, personalized candy bars, etc. We loved EVERYTHING we got, but I will tell you that my DH and DS enjoyed getting their own things. :) No gift was too small. It was so much fun to come back to the room and see what we got. We only had one theft incident. My DH and DS went to the room and their were two candy bars and a round barrel of M&M's. They left them in the FE so I could see. When my DS went back to the room, the candy bars were gone and the EMPTY barrel without the M&M's was in the FE. I could not believe someone would acually eat the M&M's and leave the container! So, we all learned a valuable lesson and checked the FE several times a day and removed the items immediately.

Wow..the levels some people will stoop to:mad: Thanks for the hint though..we'll be sure to check ours often. I just can't understand why people want to ruin it for everyone else.
Thanks for the ideas for FE gifts. I had done a search to see what other ideas there was and some brought things that represent their state. I don't know..I'll keep researching it use some of the ideas you gave. I can't wait to get started on vacation!!!!!!

Oh, I am so sad and sorry. I had booked this cruise for my bounceback and my TA just called and said December 3rd is a blackout date. So, we will not be sailing with you guys or coordinating the FE exchange. I am really sorry. I guess I should have waited before I volunteered to coordinate it. However, when someone else steps up to coordinate it, I will be glad to answer any questions. It's not hard at all....just takes a little organization. I'm really sorry guys!

I just booked the Dec 3 cruise! :) It will just be me (29) and my fiance (30)(who will be DH by then-we're getting married in May). I have always wanted to try Disney cruise and this sounds like a great chance-esp since all the decorations will be up!
I initially called Costco to book (but actually booked with DU) and the Costco travel agent made me feel bad for going on a Disney cruise and not having any kids :confused3 He said, "I've never heard of someone booking a Disney cruise without kids, are you sure you want to go?"
It sounds like there are tons of activities for adults AND kids on the cruise and we are looking forward to it!

As for taking a Disney cruise without kids......we saw several people on our cruise this past summer that had no kids, in fact if you got the introductory DVD it explains that those cruise also have special activities and areas for people without kids.

Yep I've got the cruise DVD and have read tons of trip reports on the boards. We can't wait!
I'm from Crossville (1 hour west of Knoxville) and have lived in Knoxville and Nashville...but I left TN to move to Atlanta a few years ago. I love it because we can DRIVE to WDW in about 6.5 hrs, making last minute weekend trips completely easy! We're planning to drive to Port Canaveral for the cruise as well=4 day weekend off work. :)

I can't believe a travel agent would ever question where a paying customer wanted to go!!! How awful! We did the land and sea for our honeymoon. People thought I was crazy for doing Disney on our honeymoon, but we had an absolute BLAST!!! We also met several other honeymooners and we all had fun. One of the great things about Disney is they enforce their rules so if you are in the adult only areas - you won't see kids! I have always said they go above and beyond for the adults.
We booked Cat. 12, too, and can't wait to see where we end up!

Yea isn't that terrible?? I ended up booking with Dreams Unlimited anyway instead of Costco, since Costco was only offering a small Costco card as an incentive, and Dreams Unlimited was much better since I could get the $25 online booking OBC and the $50 Dreams Unlimited OBC. We have been to WDW plenty of times (without kids!) and loved it obviously, and we're going to Disneyland (as part of Adventures by Disney Backstage Magic) for our honeymoon, so we are not afraid of doing Disney kids-free! We have tried to convince some friends to come on the cruise too but no luck (I think they're all a little scared about a "Disney" cruise!) so we have decided to try to make some friends online instead that we can meet up with on the cruise :)

Hi. Just booked this cruise. It's just the 2 of us. No kids. We will be celebrating our 34th wedding anniversary on board. We just added onto DVC (Villas Grand CA DL) and got a 3 night DCL cruise. We haven't sailed on DCL since 1/2004 and haven't been to WDW in 5 yrs. At this time we are going into the Beach Club Villas on 11/28 but we are going to try to change this and do WDW after the cruise instead of before the cruise. We have secured Cat 7 but this is a guarantee so unknown what room we will end up in prior to the cruise. I personally cannot wait to go back to WDW/DCL and to see all the Christmas decorations at WDW and DCL and of course see Nausau again.

Hello Everyone!
DH and I will be joining all of you on this cruise. This will be our 4th Disney Cruise! We booked this with the bounceback offer. We are also DVC members with our home resort at the BCV. We will be staying at BCV after the cruise 12/6-12/10. Looking forward to seeing the Christmas decorations on the Wonder and at WDW. We've been to WDW during the Christmas season once before in 2004. I hope this year will be warmer than it was then.
Have never been on a cruise that had an organized FE but would be interested in participating if that is what the group decides to do.
Congratulations, Minybear on your 34th anniversary. DH and I will celebrate our 31st anniversary this August.

Looking forward to meeting you too......Did you check with Disney or your travel agent about using the bounceback for this date. The reason I ask is because we had 2 that was on this thread/meet with us and found out that this date was a "blackout" date for the bounceback cruise and had to change their dates. I hope you DO get to cruise with us, but would hate to have you do even more planning only to find out the date isn't available. Looking forward to hearing from you again!!

Hi Donna
Let me say "Welcome to the Dis"
Looks like we have something in common. We are both DVC members at the BCV and we have been married for over 30 yrs (you for 31 yrs 8/2009 and us 34 yrs in Jan/2010). Congratulations on your 31st wedding anniversary this August.
I see your staying at BCV 12/6-10. I am trying to move our dates to 12/6 at BCV and we are on the waitlist. I hope this waitlist comes through. If not I will try to move to AKVilla or splurge and stay at the Grand Floridian (non DVC resort).

We are driving down on Dec.1 but not staying at WDW...we're staying at a hotel in PC for 2 nights before the cruise.
Wish we was able to stay at WDW...maybe someday!!

Welcome, Donna! I'm glad to see our numbers going up again!
We are waiting for a code to stay at WDW for a few days before our cruise. I just received the kids free code for this summer at WDW, so hopefully we'll be lucky again for December:goodvibes

Looking forward to meeting all of you!

Hello everyone! Just wanted to drop in and say hi! It is beautiful here today in TN and supposed to be a beautiful wknd as well! I am so happy the weather is FINALLY getting warm :cool1: Maybe I should go lay out in the sun and pretend i'm on Castaway Cay lol.
I've got to go do some shopping for "cruise wear" sometime lol. I know its 6-7 months away still, but it gives me an excuse to shop lol. My DH wants me to purchase a swimsuit this year to wear at the beach instead of shorts and tshirt...I am very self concious because i am ..how should I put it...Pooh sized lol. Just remember that, if we have a dis meet on our cruise that i'm not stuck up...just sorta self conscious :lovestruc:)
I've still got to figure out what to use for a FE gift! I can't find anything that seems suitable to me!! arggghhh!!!! I've been doing some research on the FE exchange and it doesn't seem to complicated. Someone just keeps record of everyone on that sailing, their cabin #, and I would think if they had kids or not and ,if so, what ages. Some then say they have a dis meet the first day and hand that out or just email the whole list to everyone a few days before sailing.
Well, for someone who was just gonna say hi I sure got long-winded....sorry :rotfl2:
Hope to hear from you all soon!!

Did I mention to you guys that I booked this cruise without my husband knowing!!! My mom and step-dad went on a cruise at the end of this past January and talked about how cool, temperature wise, it was. I was looking at this cruise because it was cheap(ish), but my husband was convinced it would be too cold in December. I plan on telling him around September! I've mentioned it to my son - in his little 6-year-old head he knows we're going. He can't wait. Plus the cruise is a week before his birthday so that makes it even better. My daughter (19 months) already loves Mickey Mouse so it will be impossible my husband to say no to them. He loves the cruise and the ships so I know he will enjoy it. I just got to wait until the right time to tell him!!! :rolleyes1
Only 7 more months according to y'alls countdown!!!

Hi Lisa
This sounds familar. On our first cruise on DCL I made our resv through DU without my DH knowing. I did this basicly because he kept on making excuses that I wouldn't like to cruise and gave excuse after excuse for me not to make a resv with DCL. I finally told him when the deposit was non-refunable. He knew of our WDW trip but not the DCL cruise. Of course it was just the 2 of us no kids. Now he loves to cruise. Now due to our cruising we haven't been to WDW for 5 yrs. I cannot wait to go back.
Our first cruise was in January with DCL and if I can recall it wasn't all that cold in Nassau. The only time we felt the coldness is when we were on the 10th deck on DCL and it was extremly windy and cold up there.
Lisa, your husband and kids will love this cruise. 7 more months and counting down :cool1:

Well, the difference in his comparisons is 2 months. A lot can happen with the weather in 2 months! I don't care what it's like - just get me back on that ship! It's been too long (4 years!).
Lisa - enjoy your evening! I've never eaten at PF Changs, believe it or not. I'm about to leave work to go to Imagination Station in Collegedale for a field trip with my son. They made us Mother's Day presents!

We (late 20's married couple) booked our first cruise (of any type) for Dec. 3 on the Wonder a few months now.
We just discovered this opportunity to 'network' before the cruise. Anyone want to be 'friends'??? HAHAHA!
We would really like to find some others (couples, families) to have fun with the fish extender experience w (and hopefully someone to clue us into exactly how it works).
We are both Disney fanatics and would love to find some folks like us. We will be in room 2572 (2nd floor from bottom - mid ship - outer stateroom). Contact me if you are interested! Thanks!

Just checking in to say hello! I've been reading up on the boards and making magnets. I started making some for myself and just got carried away and now I have a whole photobucket full! Anyways, from what I've read for the FE the organizer collects everyones names that wants to participate and info and right before the cruise they email everyone on the list. Some arrange a meet and greet and give the list to them then. This is my first cruise too so I guess just go with the flow. :)
P.S. I'd be happy to personalize or make any magnets for anyone if you like! Talk with you all soon! :goodvibes

Hey everyone!
Its been a while since I've posted. DH, DD, and I just got back from WDW. We are DVC members and stayed at our home resort, BCV, which we love. Spent most of our time at Stormalong Bay but did go into the theme parks a couple of days. DD and I both reached the highest score of 999,999 on Buzz Lightyear.:banana::banana:
Milliepie--your designs are awesome. :) Would love to have you personalize a couple for DH and I. Are you going to do any Disney Christmas designs?
We would enjoy participating in the fish extender exchange. Although we have been on three DCL cruises, no one in our group wanted to do it.
On our last cruise, we had a meet and greet in the Promenade Lounge at 3 p.m. This worked good as it gave us enough time to meet everyone and then get to the lifeboat drill. It's nice to do this at the very beginning of the cruise because then you keep running into people you "know" throughout the whole cruise.

I have got to think of something to use for an FE gift!! I have been looking and thinking and I still can't decide what to use!! I thought about making something, but I am far from creative and don't really have the time with the kids and running back and forth with them
I noticed a lot of the cruise meets have thought up names for their cruise group...I have tried to think of something but cannot come up with anything...what do you all think of this idea and if you agree what would you come up with? One of the reason I had thought of this was because I thought of ordering some of those rubbery type bracelets in DIS green and having something imprinted on it, then when we all are signing in at the cruise terminal we could recognize our fellow DISers....let me know if you all like or dislike that idea.

A name sounds good to me. On our last cruise we were the Bushwacker Banditos...long story but the name just kind of evolved. Everyone put on your creative thinking caps...
I will be glad to organize the initial meet and greet. On our last cruise, one of our cruisers also did a spreadsheet. It included our screen name; who's traveling in our party (including names and ages especially kid's ages); where we live; do we have early or late dining; stateroom number; email address; and if we are celebrating anything special. I will be happy to set this up if everyone would PM me with their information. It was nice to have some basic info before the meet and greet and it will be helpful for the FE exchange too.

I have had my thinking cap on, but I think it is out of order lol. I am just not that creative. I love the name idea! My husband suggested something along the lines of South for the Winter WONDERs or Winter WONDERland cruisers. I'm not very creative with wording things either, so I have no clue. :confused3

I'm relaxing by my pool, listening to Jimmy Buffet songs on my iPhone, and dreaming about Castaway Cay. I need to download some more songs to listen to at the pool and on the cruise. Feeling good, warm weather songs...any suggestions?

I can think of a few...but depends on what type of music you like :)
Can I come sit by the pool with you? I wish we had a pool lol. We just go swimming in the creek a few miles out from our house. I don't know if you've ever been swimming in a mountain stream, but it is COLD!!!

What about something from the beach boys? anything that has steel drums in it lol. I don't listen to country,so I can't really think of anything along those lines...except for "its 5 o'clock somewhere" lol.

We are paid in full and now we even have airfare for our trip. I am loving it. The best part is that the kids are still clueless that we are taking the trip this year. I can't wait to show my mom WDW for 4 days first, then we can sit back and relax on the cruise.

The Dollar Tree usually has glowsticks, etc. I haven't been there in awhile though. Target also had them in March.
It is so hot here. The heat index was 110 today. Yuck!

Lisa,
Thanks for the song suggestions. I had already downloaded Beach Boys Sounds of Summer.
Everyone that wants to participate in the meet on the first day of the cruise and/or the fish extender exchange, please PM me with the following info: screen name; names of everyone travelling; ages of children and/or adults; place you live; stateroom #; early or late dining; email address; and any special events you might be celebrating. I will put the info on a spreadsheet and email it to everyone that replies.
I like all suggestions for names or maybe we could combine a couple of them--DIS Winter Wonder Cruisers!

Hi everyone!! Just wanted to check in and see what was up. Hope you all are having a great wk. so far. We are enjoying the wonderful weather here in TN, it has been unusually cool for this time of year, but that is ending soon.
I like the name for the cruise group, I had thought of a few, but figured they sounded stupid or something :rolleyes1 If everyone agrees on the name then let me know and I'll start looking for a good place to order the bracelets,if you all are interested in them.
DonMil...maybe closer to the cruise time people will start sending you their info ? I hope so...really look forwad to all of it..maybe you could send them a friendly reminder lol :rotfl:

I can just imagine how full your pm box has been, with all your cool designs and such :) I am going to request a few...I just hope I have room on my door for all of the magnets I already have made out...I'm not sure how many one door can hold, but now that I think of it, I do have my mom and step-dads connecting room door I could use as well ..hehehe.
The summer here has been beautiful as well, unusually not humid, which is very unusual for the south.
I'll post those later....enjoy the day!

Anyone interested in sharing a room Dec 4 to enjoy the Atlantis property?
We have a party of 5, 3 adults 2 kids. I just booked one room with the AAA discount for a total of $198 ( the price dropped). But it will only let us have 4 in the room and we are bringing my sister on this trip, so anyone interested in splitting the price of another booked room? So she can get a wrist band and come with us? We plan on getting off the ship first time in the AM, getting a taxi, checking in and out of the room at Comfort without ever going in it. Enjoying Atlantis and returning to the ship. You can PM me. Happy cruising.

Disboards Winter Wonder Cruisers sounds good to me too. It has a nice ring to it. :)
The bracelets sound like a cute idea, but it's totally up to you if you want to get them. With your surgery coming up you should concentrate on healing. You have a cruise to get ready for after all! :)

MaryEL--So sorry to hear about your divorce! Hope things work out for the best! Let me know when you want to change any of your info on the spreadsheet.
:welcome: Princess Yessenia! I am putting together a spreadsheet so everyone who is on this thread will know who will be on our DIS Winter Wonder Cruise! So if you want to send me a PM with the following info: screen name; first names (and ages, if you wish); city/state/country where you live; main or late dinner seating; stateroom number; email address; and if you are celebrating anything special.
We are going to have a meet the first day although we haven't definitely decided on a specific time or place. Waiting to see if more people join this thread before making a final decision. I suggested the Promenade Lounge at 3 p.m. We did this on our last cruise and it worked well. Or if everyone is planning on being at the port early, we can meet in the terminal.

First of all..your FE is adorable! Love it!! You did a great job. What "pattern" did you use to make it?
As for the T-shirts, i went on the dis-ign boards on here and a bunch of the talented people on there had designs that I copied or had them personalize for me. Then I copied them off onto T-shirt Transfers that I purchased from one of the disigners on there (she goes by amymickey) and you just peel off the back and iron them on! Hope that helps. Also Milliepie that is going on the cruise with us makes some awesome designs as well. You could check with her as well!!

Thanks for the help with the shirt designs... I've also got to make pirate costumes for my boys. So much to do for so much fun :yay:
I can give you my measurements and instructions if you'd like. I'll have to remeasure what I did. I learned a lot about how I would redo it if I were to make another one (which I will not make another one for me but if someone else wants one let me know). Mine is done and I'm happy with it even if one pocket is a tad bit off. No worries and I don't anyone would notice but me.

You are very crafty. I still have yet to pull out the sewing machine. I think I saw a thread somewhere with instructions on how to make a no sew one, but if you could post measurements that would be awesome!
If you like to look at my designs the link is in my signature, I can personalize for you too. Also like Lisa said the Dis-ign boards disigners are more than willing to help you out. My personal fav is Donatalie, I love her stuff. http://www.disboards.com/forumdisplay.php?f=105.

Okay so I followed instructions that were on the fish extender thread but I did modify them a bit.
I used:
2 pieces of material for the back (36" by 8")
2 pieces of material for each pocket (8" by 7")
double wide bias tape
8" dowel rod that is 3/8"
2 3/8" dowel rod caps
leftover ribbon to hang it with
You can definately do this no-sew with fabric glue. I decided to sew it since I knew we would use it again next year and I'm impatient about letting things dry. I used 1/2" seams on everything.
1. Sew the pockets together (right sides together) leaving the side open to turn.
2. Sew the back together (right sides together) leaving the top open to turn.
The next part, I didn't do it this way but it made sense after I did mine.
3. Pin the pockets where you want them on the backing. Then, pin the bias tape around the outside. Sew around the bias tape to keep the pockets and bias tape in place.
I wished I would have thought that out before I did mine but I guess you learn something new each time you do something.
4. I used glue to make the insert for the dowel rod. I have about a 1" pocket for the dowel rod. I just used craft clue and kept it in place ovenight with clothes pins.
5. I painted my dowel rod and glued the ends on. I then hot glued my ribbon onto the dowel.
The fun part was the iron on transfers. I don't like doing those and really would have prefered embroidery but I'm happy with how it turned out. If you were to do embroidery on the pockets do that before you sew them on.
I hope this helps. I'm going to get my crying baby from his nap since the mowers woke him up (all about timing :confused3).
I'll let you know if I need help with my shirts--which I probably will.

Hi Everyone, my family of four will join you on December 3rd. :goodvibes
We joined DVC last February while on the Wonder for a 4-night cruise so now will be taking our "free cruise" (DVC buyer incentive) in December. Hopefully will get three nights at Bay Lake Towers, our home resort, before boarding the ship. I'm still working on that.
It will be me, my husband, DS (15) and DD (13). It's our third Disney cruise (have never cruised with anyone else and probably never will!) so the kids know by now what to do, where to go, etc. They have lots of ideas for this trip, too!
I haven't read the whole thread yet but plan to do so in the next couple of days. We are from MN so will be glad to leave the cold in the wintertime, and have never cruised around Christmas time before, either.
Looking forward to catching up with all of you! :yay:
P.S. Is Palo available on 3-night cruises???

MinnesotaMouse- Welcome to our "crew". Glad to have another addition to our group :) This will be our 2nd cruise, and my mom and stepdad's first ever. Believe me I have been counting down the days! Hope you will join us for our meet and greet and join in the Fish Extender gift exchange!
Milliepie- I just wanted to say I love your avatar...too cute :)
I have been shopping around for the best prices on the bracelets for everyone. I'm still going to do it, but man I didn't realize they were going to be so much $!! Still worth it though :)
Well, gonna go get the kiddo's off to the bus and get ready for another day of canning...going to can tomatoes today :)

Hi Minnesota Mouse! Welcome to this thread and to our cruise group!
We are tentatively planning a meet on embarkation day at 3 p.m. in the Promenade Lounge but are still open to other suggestions. I am putting together a spreadsheet so we know who will be cruising with us. If you send me the following info, I'll send you a copy of it too: screenname; names (and ages, especially kids); city/state where you live; main or late seating; stateroom #; email address; and anything special you might be celebrating.
tngal--Don't feel like you have to do the bracelets if they are too costly. I'd rather you save the money and spend it on souvenirs for you and your family. I'm glad you're feeling strong enough to do all that canning.
Just a reminder to anyone else on this thread that would like to have a copy of the spreadsheet with info about our fellow DIS cruisers to PM their info as listed above. Our cruise is getting closer.....
Let's get to know each other better. I'll start...Do you have any pets? If so, what kind and what are their names? We have two dogs...Sparky, a border collie, who is 9 years old and Dory, a toy Australian shepherd who is 10 months old.

As much as I would like to get the bracelets, i think I may have to do something different. 25-30 bracelets was going to run around 50+ dollars!! I figured I can put that money on a nicer FE gift!! I am so sorry..I hope none of you are mad/disappointed at me:guilty:
As for pets...I have a bob-tail cat Rascal. We have a black lab named smoky, 11 cats and 2 fish. Dog and all but Rascal are outside!! Didn't want you to think i was that crazy cat lady you all hear about with 50 cats inside lol. I will have to try to find my pics of them and post them later. :)

That's a lot for the bracelets. I don't blame you!
We have a dog named Baxter. He's a shih tzu that is our first born child. He is 7 years old. He used to have long hair until we moved to dallas and he couldn't have his weekly brushing.

Thanks, guys! I'm glad you all understand about the bracelets. I just can't see putting out that much money, then i'd have to mail them to each of you on top of that so we'd all have them at the terminal!
Hope you all are having a good wknd. My little Katie is having problems with her sinuses, but i've started her on her med. again. so maybe we got it before it turned into an infection!
After I get all the canning and freezing done, hopefully I will find time to start on my FE..look forward to doing that! Can you believe after this cruise is over I'll have to start planning for our first trip to WDW....but I love it :)
Hope to hear from you all soon!!

Ok. Here's another get-to-know you better question. What is your favorite summertime activity?
I love to hang out by my pool and read, listen to Disney podcasts, or visit with my family or friends

Ok, my favorite summertime activity is to read in the sun, eat ice cream on a hot day, and go swimming. Actually, I will eat ice cream anytime, but it is particularly fun in the summer:rotfl2:

Well now that I have my internet up and running again  I figured I would post a picture as some others already have. I've been making posts from the internet on my phone, which did the job but didn't let me post pictures or anything else..sorry I'm so behind! :goodvibes
Here we are a week ago getting ready to ride the surrey bikes at WL. We both loved it and actually rode past a doe eating some grass on the side of the path! We both started acting like kids and got all excited! :yay: We didn't bother her at all, and she just looked up at us a couple times and just kept on munching on! A pleasant surprise we weren't expecting. :thumbsup2 Anyway, I'm rambling on...

How exciting! I'll be at BWV for my first time on Sunday. Just meeting up with my mom to see her for a night so we can hang out. She lives a little over 4 hours SE from here in Palm Beach, so we don't see eachother as much as we'd like.
BTW donmil723, I got the e-mail! Thank you! I'm going to do a FE but don't really know what types of things to buy to put in the others...

I guess I better play catch up! Our pets... We have two dogs, Chief the Chihuaha and Hidey is a black lab. We also have a turtle named Crush, an Iguana Sam and some fish.
Our favorite summer activities would probably be riding bikes to the beach, fishing and of course our monthly visit to Disneyland. We just got back from celebrating our ds's 7th birthday at DL. It was cool because when we checked into the hotel we were picked as the "Magical Family of the day" and we got a room upgrade and some extra goodies. It made his birthday even more special. It will be our last time there for a while because our passes expired and we aren't renewing this year because we might have to move. We still have our Cruise and visit to the World though, so that should feed our withdrawl for a bit.
OK, enough about me, lol. Here are a few pics of our little zoo..

Ok, Milliepie, my DD would be so jealous of your turtle-all you need is a pet frog and she would want to move in with you:rotfl2:
So with all this talk of Boardwalk and Beach Club, has anyone here stayed at the Yacht Club? I was thinking of staying there for a few nights before the cruise. There's several good codes out there for that time period, so Yacht Club Concierge level is really tempting me.

Yessenia--That's wonderful that you and your mom can get together for a day or two especially at such a magical place as WDW! We have stayed at BWV before and loved it--the location is awesome with just a quick stroll to either Epcot or Hollywood Studios.
My DD just moved to Idaho this summer to be closer to her boyfriend. That's 1600 miles away from our home in Missouri so we can't get together like that!!! :sad1:
Do a search on the cruise line forum and you'll find lots of ideas for FE gifts.
BTW, your dogs are gorgeous!
Milliepie--I love the Incredible outfits on your dogs. Of course, I'm sure that means your dogs are incredibly smart, adorable, good-looking, etc. etc. etc. :goodvibes And I wonder where you got the name "Crush" for your turtle? Could it be from the same movie where we picked "Dory" for our puppy's name?
I would love to be able to live close enough to be able to ride bikes to the beach and to visit DL or WDW once a month! I shouldn't complain as we usually make it to WDW 2-4 times a year.
That's wonderful that your DS's birthday was even more magical! :dance3:
Fireworks Fan--Yes, we have stayed at the YC. It is a fabulous resort--more quiet and elegant than the BC--and it shares the best pool at WDW with BC.
Have a great night everyone!

I'm working on my shirts and my FE gifts. I cannot wait until the cruise! We got our ADR made for our land portion of our trip so we are less than 90 days away.
My favorite summertime activity is probably going to Sonic for happy hour and then going to the pool with my kids. Although it is very HOT in Dallas during the summer.

I just made my adr's too for our land portion. We will be on land from 11/29 til the cruise. We are staying at POFQ. We scored adr's for:
11/30 5:30pm 50's Prime Time - DHS
12/1 4:20pm Cinderella's Royal Table - MK
12/2 5:20pm Teppanedo - Epcot
We are having a meet in Italy in Epcot for Illuminations on the 2nd if you are interested in a get together.

Welcome Brad! If you plan to come to our meet and greet which is tentatively scheduled for Embarkation Day at 3 p.m. in the Promenade Lounge and/or participate in the FE exchange, please email me the following info: screen name, first names of all in your group, ages of kids (and adults if you want), town where you live, main or late dining onboard, stateroom #, email address, and any special celebrations. Fireworks Fan is helping with the FE exchange.
New question:
What do the adults in your group do for a living?
My DH farms with our son in central Missouri. We primarily raise Angus cattle but we do plant some corn. I do the bookkeeping for the farming operation and work out of my home as a massage therapist. Since my DD moved to Idaho this summer, I have applied to be a substitute teacher at our local school just so I can get out of the house more.

My DH works in a carpet mill as a mechanic tech. In other words he repairs the machinery that twists yarn used for carpet. He also works some with the electrical stuff.
I had to quit work about 3 years ago due to health issues, and draw disability. Before that I was a Phlebotomy Technician/lab assistant.
Since my mom and step-dad aren't on here but will be with us, i'll answer for them too :) My mom is a retired nurse and my step father is retired from the USAF.
Donmil--I could so use a massage right now!!! My back is killing me (part of the injury that caused me to quit working) A few years ago I went for a massage at a local spa and I was actually in pain the next morning I was so sore!! I think the lady was just a little too rough or i'm just a wimp one lol.
I have got my FE gift for the kids figured out, now I just gotta figure out the one for the adults. I am completely stumped on this one!! I guess it would be a good idea to get my FE made as well, huh?
Hearing you all plan your WDW trips is making me anxious for mine! We are planning one this May 2010. I will turn 35 in WDW !! There is so much planning to do but I am enjoying it. We have the date of travel down, and the resort down, but thats about it lol. I am just trying to figure out if I am better off to book with a TA or through disney myself? What do you guys think?
Well, time to go. Littlest one is whining and I think its time for her bed ;)

Hey Lisa! It is very easy to book things directly with Disney and, if you are like me, I enjoy planning our vacations. If you have any questions, just ask me here or on FB and I will be happy to try to help. What resort did you decide on?
Although it is not unusual for someone to feel sore and achy after a massage, especially if they were very tight beforehand, it is not good if you were in pain the next day. I doubt if you were a wimp! I, personally, don't like deep tissue massages either. The main thing is to remember to drink lots of water after a massage to help flush out the toxins that have been released during a massage so you don't feel sore and achy afterwards.

Hi Donna,
I'm traveling with BradLG63 to WDW and the cruise. We're actually arriving 11/26 and staying at the Pop Century until 11/29 when we move to the Animal Kingdom Lodge. The trip is mainly for my 50th birthday but it's also my sisters first trip to Disney World. She's coming in from Australia for my birthday. Our plans are 11/29 DHS; 11/30 AK then to DHS for dinner at 50's Prime Time; 12/l we're at MK (Yuletide Fantasy Tour at 9am and MVMCP that night), 12/2 we're at Epcot...our annual Drinking Around the World.
Brad is going to respond to you with all the details of our group. We want to participate in the FE and Door Decorating.
I'm so excited for this trip.:banana::banana:

Hello!
My screen name is Bradg63
We would be interested in attending the meet and greet. We also would like to be a part of the FE. I think you may have spoken to another member of our party her screen name is RebaGarth.
There 7 of us in 3 cabins. We range in age from 32 to 52. Brad, Donny, Steve, Gary, Matt, Eileen, and Denise. We are celebrating Denise's 50th birthday (she is RebaGarth - the name will make sense when you see her - she looks scarily like Reba)
Denise, Steve, Gary and Matt live in Sacremento, CA
Brad and Donny live in Long Beach, CA
Eileen lives in Sydney Australia
We are late seating for dining and we are in Stateroom 6570 the rest are right next to us but I don't know in what order yet.
I am still learning how to navigate this board and I feel kinda stupid. I couldn't send you a private message or figure how to send you an email. Give me time I will get it.
To answer your question:
I am a Chef/Owner of a Catering and event business. I am also the Supervising Chef for a program that feeds the homeless and those in need.
Here comes the big news - Don't want to scare our new Missouri friends away...
Donny is my DH (legally in CA and Iowa) He is a total loss and theft investigating Insurance Adjuster for AAA Insurance division.
Denise works for State Farm, Eileen is a Union representative in Australia,
Steve is in Trucking Dispatch and management for a temporary fencing company
Gary is a Nurse and Matt is a Wetlands Caretaker.
We arrive at WDW 11/26 and start at Pop Cent then we move to AKL until the cruise. We have all our dinner rez and we are dong the Yuletide tour.
Probably TMI for now. Look forward to learning more.
