We are taking our first cruise on 5/5 -- can anyone provide their thoughts on renting bikes for a family of 6 (2 adults, children: 4,8,9,12) on Castaway Cay? Are their bike trails available? Is it worth renting the bikes? Is there much to see?

Thanks for sharing!

Hi! You're not too far from Wilmington. We have friends that live in Doylestown.

Bikes of various sizes and helmets are available on CC. To my knowledge there is no multiple rider or tandem bikes available. There is a bike path which leaves the far end of the family beach at CC. It leads over to an airplane landing strip (complete with vintage plane) and down towards the adult beach (serenity beach) and cabanas. Once there, it turns from a paved road/path to a packed fine gravel/sandy path (unless it's been updated since last May) right near the cabanas and adjacent showers. It cuts along parallel to serenity beach and back towards a scenic lookout area. The scenic area featured a view of the ocean, not outstanding. I thought the view of the Magic from the family beach was much more enjoyable. At the scenic area there is a turn around and there was water (much needed) to drink. I hope this is helpful.

From what I hear from Disney there are only single seat bikes and also ones with child seats attached to the bike, no tandems and no cool 4 -6 person bikes...they do have bike with training wheels for young kids...
I am going on the same cruise as you!!!! Its our first on too, I am going with a 2 year old and a 14 year old....

Thanks for the help!

aprilgail2 ... I am so glad to hear someone else is traveling on the 5th. I know the ship must be pretty full as I've been checking the website for availability. We're traveling with two other families and presently have three Cat. 4 rooms as GTY rooms. We're waiting to hear where we end up.

Have a great trip!
