Spring Photo Shoot

I committed to doing a Spring Photo Shoot for a bunch of friends and neighbors (feel free to come by if you're in the area). Now I've got to think of what I'm going to do. For Halloween, we used a white backdrop, some straw bales (which people kept calling hay bales), and some really cheesy pumpkins on a stick.

What are some good ideas for a Spring Photo Shoot. The shoot will be in my studio (usually known as the garage). My preference is for a white background (because I already have one), but I'm open. I was thinking about getting a bunch of flowers and plants and making it a gardening kind of thing. Maybe through in a basket of eggs for some Easterness. Any thoughts? I can handle the technical stuff, but the artistic stuff is always a challenge for me (boy is that an understatement).

BTW, I'm not getting a live bunny. Posing kids is hard enough for me. there is no way I'm adding any rodents to the mix.

maybe you could beg, borrow,( preferably not steal since the neighbors are going to be there and might recognize it) a garden arch or gate type thing to jazz up the background? i've taken some photos in a walled garden which makes a really pretty backdrop...thinking something to mimic that. i like the flowers idea. or maybe if you have some kind of nice decorative iron or wood outdoor chair(not the normal green or white styrene type i mean)

How about some cheap wood lattice that you paint white with some flowers/vines growing up it?

We have one in our front yard you can borrow if you feel like a road trip!

and no bunnies on a stick stuffed with cheese or not.

this might be equally cheese-like but i was thinking if you are going for a gardening theme you can use garden implements ie wheelbarrow with kids in it, adult garden gloves on a little kid, tiny kid sitting in a huge flower pot, maybe kids planting seeds( not dead bunnies) in a pot or something...

Before I got to your response, Jann, I also thought of the wheelbarrow idea. I do like the idea of the spring flowers . . . they will look very colorful against a white background.

As for bunnies (dead or alive), I agree with not using them in the pictures. As someone who has five animals at home (2 German Shepherds and 3 cats), I know how difficult it is to get just ONE of them to cooperate when I want to take a picture. Try throwing in a curious kid or two along with a nervous bunny and you're only asking for trouble!

Sounds like they will be fairly "informal" pictures, but it might be cute to have the Easter basket filled with eggs if there are any children in their Easter outfits. Or, just to kind of create an Easter egg hunt scene of sorts.

Should be a fun shoot!
