Due Date is Saturday, May 31. That is when I need to receive your package.
Mail by date is Saturday, May 24, 2008, to make sure your package arrives to me.

Link to Photo Thread: http://www.disboards.com/showthread.php?p=26720091#post26720091

NOTE: I will ask you to check in every 2 weeks (by posting a check-in by date in the thread title). If I haven't heard from you by March 7, I will send a PM to you. If the PM is not answered within 2 days, I will angel your spot.

Packing and Labeling Instructions: Sign the back of your completed pages with your name and DIS name. Be sure to use an acid free pen. Place ALL of your 12x12 completed layouts for a specific group in a 2 gallon Ziploc bag (available at grocery stores/Walmart with the other sizes) or a gallon bag for 6x6 pages. If you are in multiple groups, each group should be in their own bag. Label the outside of each bag (by hand or with an adhesive label) with your name and DIS name.

Mailing Instructions: Mail in a Flat Rate $8.95 Priority box. 12x12 pages will bow just a bit in the middle but do not get damaged. Include $8.95 in stamps (+ $0.65 for delivery confirmation) or $8.95 in cash (free delivery confirmation) AND your address in one of the bags. Please do not send metered or click-it/ship-it postage as some hostesses have had issues with these. On the outside of your box, please include your DIS name and Swap name in the bottom corner.

Contact Info: PM me with your name, address, email addy and phone number if you haven’t swapped with me before. I will PM my contact info to everyone after the swap closes. If you have problems and need to drop out or if an emergency happens (we all know things happen beyond our control sometimes), let me know ASAP so we can make arrangements for an angel or other help as needed.

A Final Note: This swap is a huge commitment of time and money for everyone involved as it takes a significant amount of both to create five 2-page layouts. Multiply that by 5 groups and you are making 50 complete pages. Having said that, PLEASE, PLEASE, PLEASE do not sign up for more than you can handle. It is not fair to me or the other participants to expend the time and money to make something for someone who does not reciprocate. We all want everyone to enjoy swapping but we also want you to think about what you are getting into when you sign up.

Last but not least, HAVE FUN! I know we all stress about our work and that is OK. The important thing to remember is that you just need to make something you would be proud to have in your own albums and everyone will love it. If you get stumped or have a question, anyone on here would be happy to help; all you have to do is ask.

Updated to here except for questions.

Please don't feel overwhelmed by this one. My first completed page swap was very hard for me until I figured out my layout and then it flew by. This is an especially good swap it use sketches on. They're a great jump start!

Thanks to everyone for signing up. I just know there is going to be some incredible work out of this group!

I have a question about the paper (the background paper) If it is patterned paper do you want these to be "matted" on cardstock or is the patterend paper good enough.

Do the pages have to be completely identical?

TPCShauna
02-06-2008, 02:27 PM
Kat - I'm not entirely sure I understand your question (I'm feeling kind of brain dead today) so I'm going to try to answer from what I understand. Yes, it is fine if your background paper is patterned. All photo mats should then be two layers on top of that. For example, my base paper is black Bazzill Bling. One of my mats is then a layer of red with a layer of yellow on top of that. Did that make sense? Did it even answer your question? I'm sorry in advance if it didn't.

Susie - NO problem. I just couldn't get back here to update fast enough. Gift shops is all yours. :goodvibes

TPCShauna

No. I often use the same layout and mix and match papers on each set. Use up your stash, baby!

May I please change my BUzz and Woody group in 12 X 12 to Peter Pan and Wendy

AlexWyattMommy
02-06-2008, 02:37 PM
I think Kat's concern is that patterned paper is not as stiff as cardstock. So do you want us to stiffen up the background?

Add me to Group 1 - Mickey & Goofy. I've got enough stuff to make four identical pages and the odd one out can be mine.

KatDisney
02-06-2008, 02:37 PM
Yes you did awnser it ;) I was basically asking because I know patterned paper is so much thinner and makes the pages floppier. So i didn't know if we had to mount the patterned paper on top of card stock to make it more sturdy. I dont for my own books but I've never done this type of swap before so I want to make sure I get it right. I'm brain dead right now too, work is slow for once

I think Kat's concern is that patterned paper is not as stiff as cardstock. So do you want us to stiffen up the background?

NO, you do not have to stiffen up the paper. PP is fine for a base.

Yes you did awnser it ;) I was basically asking because I know patterned paper is so much thinner and makes the pages floppier. I'm sorry I was being dense. NO, you don't have to back your PP. It is fine as a base. It will be plenty stiff with all of the stuff you'll be adding to the top.

The Studios is fine with me. Does everyone want Disney Hollywood Studios or Disney MGM Studios pages?

Got you down. :) I would prefer Disney MGM Studios. I've been in groups before where people wanted different stuff so I just cut the letters and let them choose when they adhered it. Or, I've also asked ahead of time to get specific names so that I could do my layout for that person. I would be willing to sort for specific individuals if you want to do it that way.

I would like the group 12 X 12 with Pixar friends....Could this just be Toy Story friends or does it need to be all kinds of Pixar friends?

All kinds. This group is designed for those of us who only have a couple of character pics for any given category so that we can get them all on one page. For example, I have one Mickey, one Minnie, one Donald and one Goofy so I can put them all on one layout. This would be the same for the Pixar Friends.

Is that OK?

All photo mats should then be two layers on top of that. For example, my base paper is black Bazzill Bling. One of my mats is then a layer of red with a layer of yellow on top of that. Did that make sense? Did it even answer your question? I'm sorry in advance if it didn't.

Ok, so each photo mat should be three layers, does that go for journal boxes and toppers as well?

Ok, so each photo mat should be three layers, does that go for journal boxes and toppers as well?

Each photo mat should be two layers on top of the base paper. The photo placed on top would make the third layer. Toppers and standard journal boxes should be double matted as well. There are more specifics in the element list in the first post on this thread.

Let me know if you still have questions.

notes4theheart

So, double-matted means two layers and a base for this swap. I was confused because the pictures in the examples on the thread are only two layers without a base.

Thanks:cheer2: , I just wanted to check early so I don't need to fix everything later.:cool1:

Sorry for the confusion. Those pics are from another swap. I'll post my almost finished pages for my Fab 5 Group tomorrow. I still need to figure out what I'm doing for my title/topper but it shows the mats.

Thanks for asking!

I just stole the following post from 123SA in the Resort thread. She explained everything so well that I am going to use her descriptions. Thanks, Susan!!!!

http://i245.photobucket.com/albums/gg72/susanbillings/IMGP4122.jpg

Photomats:
the one on the left, the white layer is 4 1/4 by 6 1/4 so when you put a 4x6 photo you will have a small white boarder or mat all the way around the photo -- this first layer does not have to be 4 1/4 by 6 1/4 -- it can be larger, but it can't be 4x6 or smaller

the next layer is black 4 3/8 by 6 3/8 -- this now meets the 2 layer requirement

the final layer is 5x7 and is not required

Also note that it is embellished, in the upper rt corner there is fiber and a brad and I also counted the zebra printed paper as an embellishement.

2nd photo mat (right side)

First, notice it co-ordinates but isn't exactly the same. When I did my first swap I made my photomats match exactly. Generally, most people make their mats coordinate ...but I don't know if that is a "rule"

Here the white layer is 4 1/4 by 6 1/4, the black layer is 4 3/4 by 6 3/4. two layers. I embellished with ribbon and brads -- the photo is able to slip under the ribbon. This is important to note -- if the photo could not slip under the ribbon, then the whole thing would have to be bigger.

http://i245.photobucket.com/albums/gg72/susanbillings/IMGP7744.jpg

see in these photomats with the bugs--The top photomat the light green layer is 4 1/4 x 6 1/4, the next layer I made big enough to accomodate the bugs so that the photo could be added without cropping. I think it is 4 1/2 by 6 3/4 or 7. Notice the bottom photomat does not have 2 layers -- this would not be something I turned in for a swap.

Tags:
I thik of it as one tag with a shadow -- so two layers
in the zebra set--I started with a white tag with a black shadow. I embellished it with the printed paper and the rub-on letters. Finally--notice the hole -- it must be filled in some way. With fiber, ribbon, brad, eyelet and whatever else I haven't thought of.

Journal mats
http://i245.photobucket.com/albums/gg72/susanbillings/IMGP4258.jpg

the light green box is the writing area, then 2 mats brown and then green. Embellished with the little plant and inked edges .

I hope this helps and that I haven't come accross as a know-it-all.

Ok, the more I read the more confused I am! Is the "base paper" the 12x12 sheet or is it a base layer for your other layers? Does that make sense? This is my first swap. Thanks and sorry for asking the same question that you have already answered! :confused3

For this swap only...

The base is your 12x12 or 6x6 paper. Then on top of the base you put your elements. Most elements will consist of two layers.

Susie - I took you off all of the 12x12 groups that only had two members. I added you to Group 2 - Pooh & Friends 6x6 in the spot I had taken. You don't have to do Eeyore but it is available now if you want it.

At this point, all of the 6x6 groups are full and closed.

The following groups only have ONE scrapper in each group.
Pooh & Friends 12x12 - PigletsPal
Princesses & Sidekicks 12x12 - KatDisney
Good vs. Evil 12x12 - KatDisney
Kids Group 12x12 - Mrs. Charming

I'm not really sure how y'all want to handle this but I see 3 options.
1) I could put everyone into one big group where y'all will be getting all sorts of stuff.
2) We could switch everyone around to fill just one of the groups.
3) I can remove y'all from your spots.

Please let me know what you would like to do. I don't plan to close this swap until tomorrow morning but I don't anticipate a ton more sign-ups so we are going to have to do something with these groups.

Thanks again to everyone for signing up. I can't wait to see the finished products!

I try to sketch my ideas out and pick out colors before I ever buy anything. Next, I check my stash to see what I have that will work with the colors I have in mind. Then I shop to get more paper to match what I already have or buy more as needed. I rarely purchase embellishments like Jolee's or stickers for my swaps. I try to make all of my embellies with the Cricut, punches, etc. I also use lots of Primas and ribbon.

I store everything for a given swap in a 2 gallon plastic zipper bag so that it all stays together. You can fit A LOT of paper, ribbon, embellies, etc. in one bag so it works well.

Let me know if you have more questions!

I also like scrappindeals.com and baraginpack.com.

When I see good stuff at a great price - I will buy 6 if the budget can afford it at the time and then put it to the side and just wait for a swap and hope that I can get that spot....it usually works out tha tI can.

Since we are making 5 of our l/o's and there are 5 in each group, do we get back the one we made ourself so I don't need to make an extra one for my own book?

Vicki needs us to take all of the spots she hasn't started.

That would be the Princess & Prince/Friends group. She is signed up for Belle but the spot could be changed to something else as long as it doesn't duplicate another member.

Complete Page - Do I send everything (12x12 pages, and required elements ect.) pre assembled, as in I layout everything, glue it down... Or send in everything ready to be layed out by recipient?

AlexWyattMommy

Nope Sister, you have to show your work. As in you make the elements, you pick the 12x12 paper, you design the layout and you glue it all down.

That is SOOOOOOOO awesome! I'm not in that group :sad1: Yup you appear to have all the requirements Great job!

Each page is supposed to have the following:

one (1) title/topper
two (2) mats ON EACH PAGE large enough to fit a 4x6 photo without cropping
one (1) box ON EACH PAGE that could be used for journaling/an autograph box/smaller photo mat
one(1) large embellishment OR two (2) small embellishments

The cuteness and creativity of the shape being the journal box outweighs the fact that it is a bit too small. I went back and looked and it is already double-matted so it is fine. And yes, just like AWM said, creativity is worth more than exact guidelines sometimes. Plus the fact that some people don't journal that much anyway so that shape will be more than enough for them. I think your page is darling and you should leave it the way it is. I can't wait to see the Daisy side!!!! Now I'm wishing I was in that group!

Can the title be a phrase that runs across both pages of the layout? (KWIM?) My only concern would be that people won't be able to use the pages separately.

mine will be running across 2 pages on some. I think it will be ok, like AWM said, it's supposed to be a 2 page L/O.

For the 6 X 6 pages, are we just doing one photo mat for the 2 page spread? I think that is right in my brain.

I've got good ideas if that is the way it is....

Susie- yes my understanding is one journal box and one mat on the 6 by 6 spread.

I was so happy with these pages until a little voice started questioning things.

Idiot question alert...Idiot because I put these all together and and only NOW am I looking at them saying "Hmmm I wonder if this is Ok?"

In my "creativeness" I slid the journal boxes part way under the photo mat in order to fit everything on the pages. Is that OK?

I will run upstairs and take pics now and put them in next post...

villianesque sounds good to me. That way if someone doesn't have a pic of say Ursula, you can still use the page.

I was on a roll but have had to put it down until the weekend.

I am going to be close to the due date - DS and my mom had pneumonia had different times and then it has been time for IEP and 504 meetings and then there's the MD rechecks......

IEPs were the bane of my existence (DS is in a private placement now so IEPs are basically just a formality) hope yours went well. I can't imagine that on top of the pneumonias and all...:worship:

For the 6 x 6 I'm planning on putting the photo mat horizontal on one page with the topper above it. And putting the journal box, extra element and most of the dodads on the second page. I'm pretty sure all our 6x6's will look alike. Not much room to do different layouts.

I love the pin trading. The lanyards around their necks is soo cute.

We can't seem to catch a break in my house. All three of us were sick this week. And now we are all on antibiotics for various infections (ear, sinus, strep, etc) Since scrapbooking is the last thing on your mind with 102 fever, I am behind on my pages!!!

Of my three sets, I have one set pretty much completed. On set started but with a lot more to do, and one set with all the supplies purchased but not even started yet!! This is going to come down to the wire for me:eek:
