Right I live in Inverness, whats the cheapest way to get to DLP without it taking 3 days to actually get there?
I just priced up March 08 for 5 nights...
2 adults and 2 kids flying from Edinburgh
accomadation wasn't much under £700 (Santa Fe) I added flights from Edinburgh and the total came to £1,900 odd:eek: Is this the sort of prices I'm looking at if I don't go in January? I wanna cry!!:rotfl:
Did the flights seperate too (air france) and they were just over £1000...???
Could it just be that I would be booking so late that the flights have gone up????

What about coming to the London the night before and getting the eurostar wouldnt that work out cheaper?
How much did you pay roughly for the trip in Jan?

We dont have much choice up here do we :headache:
We fly BA from Aberdeen to Heathrow then out that way. Easyjet now fly from Glasgow to CDG and Flybe go direct from Edinburgh to CDG. I have never found Airfrance affordable
Expedia normally has some good deals for the hotels. If it is the end of March it will be more expensive due to Easter.

Jan just past (5 nights) cost us only £990 and that was everything! So paying an extra £1000 makes me want to be sick!:)
The eurostar was roughly the same price as Jan past but that was including the over night sleeper train to get there.

:rotfl: not now!!:rotfl:
Was just mucking around seeing how much it was..tried different months too!!
Got to say though just went on a website doing the Heathrow to Charles De Gualle and for the 4 of us in march to fly would be under £400!!!! Can't believe thats a MASSIVE HUGE saving...kinda still got to get there though!!!:rotfl: That was with British Airways....tried twice cause I thought I was doing it wrong and that was per person but is 100% not!!!!!
I'm moving down South!!!! I still can't believe that would be a saving of about £800!!!! with the dates I was looking at!!

Of course Tescos rule in Inverness - I have been known to convert my Tesco points into BA miles which means you have to only pay the tax - but hey thats another topic altogether!!!
I have never flown with easyjet so I not sure how the service is:goodvibes

We have flown from Edi to CDG with good service and we only paid around £50 per flight for this March. We did book as soon as the flights came out though.
EJ have a sale on April flights at the moment (until tomorow night 10% off all flights)if that helps any;)

Yes we drove all the way from the North East. Stopped off at SIL in Glasgow but coud have missed out that stretch if necessary. Next day drove to Canterbury. Stayed overnight and then Eurotunnel the next day.
 sorry about the trip report. Now that the holiday is booked it would be good to re-live the holiday so I'll try and get to this :)

add to that new central heating system and some plaster on the bathroom walls and you could be living in my house, but I'd still rather spend the money on DLRP.
Have you had a look at Airmiles with the Tesco vouchers ?
Now that the taxes are included too, the ticket deals aren't quite so bad.
If Tesco's don't get a new DLRP partner before our planned trip I'm hoping to at least get the flights paid for with them.

No I haven't looked up about the airmiles yet but its defo on my list!! I'm so excited about air prices right now that my thoughts are running away with me!!....tell me am I right in thinking..
If I book an onsite hotel via disneylandparis.com...the park tickets will be included...
So when I get my own flights all I need to do is pay the transfers from the airport to the hotel?
In my head thats right but knowing me it probably cancels something out when you split the package up???????:confused3
Found out I can actually get a flight from Inverness to CDG!!!:woohoo: ok the whole trip takes 7 hrs (found one that takes just over 5 hrs too) and there is a stop but thats so cool...still costs less that air france from Edinburgh!! (well depending on the date)...
Can't believe I've been so stupid and haven't really thought about seperate flights for 3 years!! I just saw people writing about the eurostar and I ruled that out because its miles away.
thank you

You're right Katrina,
If you book your flights seperately, and then your hotel/tickets package with Disney direct, then you only have your transfer from CDG to the hotel and back to sort out - for 4 of you, a private transfer with bs/rs transport is probably going to be the cheapest and quickest way.
Bless you Katrina, not looking at doing it separately all this time - I did wonder myself how Air France could be the cheapest option - every time I've looked for flights on Air France, its always been really expensive!
I'd go for a budget airline every time - I always fly to CDG with BMIbaby (we're close to East Midlands airport right now) and they are great, have never paid more than £55 return each for our flights either. When Easyjet had their January sale on last month (someone posted a link to the site here) I looked at the cost of going with Easyjet from Edinburgh to CDG - and it was only going to be about £30 return each, including taxes! That would allow me to book an extra night at a Disney hotel over what I pay for flights now!

Believe me I really want to but only if its in school holidays..think I've had my luck with the outta school break malarky, although the head teacher said its ok I don't want to push it.
We have Scottish cheapy holiday booked already right up til Oct for when my husband is off so he had kinda used up his time.....aprt from 2 wks he usually takes off after xmas
But I really fancy a xmas break at DLP but its not til May (I think) the prices come out. I want to see the decorations etc in full swing!!
I'm still looking at prices though because DH has the 2 spare wks....maybe one wk off this year and 1 wk off after xmas like usual???? Och I don't know...I want to live in DLP and be done with it!!
ELAINE:...I'm telling you Easyjet is my new best friend!!! By the way is there a compitition on these boards for dunce of the year..(plus 2 years!)...I reckon I'd win!!!LOL
Mind you because we weree going out of school hols and the fact we were going in Jan..don't think we could have done it much cheaper that time of year..hopefully!!LOL...under 1k for each of the hols I've taken.....OMG thats half my double glazing!!

We've gone the last two January's just after new year (ie still in school holidays)our flights this year were around £60 with EJ and £100 with AF the year before.
Both times we stayed offsite and bought AP's. Onsite was very expensive at that time of year

I'm not all too sure about staying off site then again I thought AF was superb...once upon a time!!....when you say expensive is it roughly the same price as the height of summer prices?

Another option would be to fly from Inverness to Dublin with Aer Arann (who do some very reasonable flights at times and are a GREAT airline!) and then fly with Air France from Dublin to CDG - they have some good offers too and the euro pricing would also be in your favour of course. Ryanair also fly Dublin to Paris but it's to Beauvais. All these options are worth a shot. :) Good luck!!

Hi there poppyolivia.....i know where you are coming from we stay in ardersier and are also fellow dlrp addicts we have done it several times on a budget doing the beauvais way but this time we booked easyjet from glasgow 2nd week of the highland easter holidays 31/3-6/4 i booked the week before xmas and the flights were only £235 for 4 of us including luggage and taxes etc to charles de gaulle, flights were reasonable times and the if i could of afforded to book the flights the week earlier they were just under £200 from edinburgh but christmas and all that kind of spoke for my pennies ...i know the prices have gone up now but it shows that maybe next year or later this year if you book far enough in advance you may get reasonable prices especially as some of our school holidays differ slightly from other parts of scotland and the uk....so sometimes you can get a cheaper flight in october as a lot of schools only have 1 weeks holidays where as we get 2 so if you can find the week that most schools are still in term they are often cheaper and the bonus is the park is a wee bit quieter but keep looking where there is a will there is a way good luck

I was at DLRP last October Poppyolivia, during the Scottish school hols (1st wk in October) - it was very quiet. It was also Disney low season, and I got an early booker offer on a Disney hotel/tickets package, so it was cheaper going in October than it had been in the February for us.

Thanks for the info...
I have now decided that the way to go for me is either leaving from Edinburgh or Glasgow using easyjet (or other good value airlines)..I need to be on the ball with sales etc...thats not a prob....
I have also gone onto the Highlands holiday council website and I have the dates up til Fri 2nd July 2010!!:rotfl: I am going to compare this with other holidays different regions have and take it from there!:thumbsup2
£235 for the 4 of you is just showing off now!!;) No seriously thats brilliant and shows you what you can get!
Its got to be said that a straight no stop flight to paris would be superb and I would pay the extra for that! If you don't mind stopping off at Manchester then there is some already ranging from £500-£700 to Paris....and when you think of it thats the prices I was paying from Edinburgh to CDG.
I was a bit scared to start this thread just incase people said thing like 'thats the price, thats how we do it'.....it couldn't be further from the truth!! Thank goodness!!
Private Jet sounds good!!:rotfl:
Elaine...October would be so good to go....I'm looking at all options..the cheapest..not bothered how cold it is!!LOL Im the January Queen so anything outta that is a bonus!!!haha!! I'm gonna compare holiday dates like I said and take it from there...although I've been told by Paul that I need to wait til nearer xmas onwards...oh a girl can dream....not only that if I start looking at prices now I will be more clued up for future trips!

What??? Can you get cheaper than the Santa Fe hotel??????:scared1: I thought that was the cheapest with park tickets included?????
DLPdaft
02-06-2008, 01:50 PM
It is Poppyolivia, but if you buy the park tickets separately, from attractiontix, 365tickets etc, (or consider annual passes if you're going to be looking at park tickets for more than 3 days in a year) then you can stay offsite at Val d Europe for example, or even at the likes of My Travel Explorers, Holiday Inn etc, and pay room only rates - that way, you are paying per room per night, and not per person per night.
Have a look on Expedia for hotel only to give yourself an idea of prices for rooms - just choose the "hotel only" option and type in "Disneyland Paris".
Even more work for you to do eh :rotfl: ???

And just to confuse matters even further (for future visits) if you do choose to buy at least one Dream Annual Pass, you can then use that to book room only at a Disney onsite hotel (including Santa Fe) and get discounts of up to 30% on the room only price!

yes its great we bought 2 annual passports 2007 they were dream ones so we got 2 free for my under 7's 4 x dream passports for 360 euros but with them we have entered the parks after the next holiday 21 days i think....dream passports have 365 days access they give you 20%discount in the shops 10% discount in restaraunts free luggage storage extra magic hours lots of perks and yes you can book disney hotels with room only with up to 30% discount as you use your passports to enter the park we are staying in a 3 bed house which is fairly modern dishwasher washing machine etc for 6 nights for £460 pounds but even staying onsite you get good discounts plus next trip after the initial outlay or any others in 12 months are a lot cheaper as you do not need park tickets ....sorry if i am making this sound like hard work i ramble a bit i know

AP is from date you buy it/first use it to 12 mths later.
We bought our last July and will have squeezed 4 trips out of it by this July - Last July 5 days, Christmas 3 days, Easter 1 day then another 5 days, July just before it runs out 5 days. By then it will have paid by itself with discounts on rooms, in restaurants, shops etc

You purchase the Annual pass when you get to the parks and runs from the day you buy it for 12 months - if you are planning more than one trip in 12 months they really pay for themselves .The very useful info thread at the top of the page gives you all the info :goodvibes
Im thinking of looking into annual passes.
If you buy one when your there do they refund you back the price of your hopper ticket you get in with the hotel?

oh and i forgot to mention you don't need to all have a dream passport there are cheaper ones for the rest of the family its just they have certain blackout days when they cannot be used but if you take that into account for the dates you book your holiday i think there are only 35 blackout days on the fantasy passport so not many really but someone will correct me if i am wrong i hope

No if you've bought the hotel and tickets as part of a package they cannot be refunded

i think they will only refund 1 day of a hopper ticket against a passport but not if it is bought as part of a package through disney as i think they have no value written on them, if it is not a package hopper ticket you could be refunded the one day against the passport and sell the remaining unused tickets on a well known auction site or keep them for a future visit as i think the have a good date on them usually

Spent all night thinking about these annual passports..and my DH isn't sure if we'd go more than once a year but its gonna be so much cheaper..don't think he's really looked at figures..so might have to show him.:thumbsup2 hey you even get free stoller rental!! (ok maybe I was abit too chuffed when I found that out)
So to get this right... 2 adults and 2 kids aged 7 and 2 (3 in April) is going to be 179 euros X 4....but then you gotta think when we went in Jan the kids were free....but then with the passes I won't have to go in Jan outta school time...oh its too complicated!!:rotfl: And you can only get the passports over there right? Right away to read the thread that was pointed out to me:thumbsup2

Even if you only go once a year you can still get two trips a year apart out of one annual pass. Let's say your first AP starts on 20th August 2008 so it will expire on 19th August 2009. You could then plan a trip for August 2009 that ended on or before 19th ~ a whole year apart bar a few days. :)

See thats it....it is a good idea eh?...I think my DH arguement was that we weren't paying for the kids in the first place (but it was January and outta school)so the way he see's it is we are paying 179 Euros X2 extra for the same sort of holiday....
If I do get the Annual Dream passport ones...can you use it that day onwards with NO exclusions? I was reading up about it and there was one bit that was unclear (to me) and it said on the 2nd and 3rd day you can't use it...I'm hoping thats for the cheapest passport not this one...cause that would be more money to spend on park tickets.
Thank you

Its only the Francillien pass that you can't use on the 2nd and 3rd day after buying them. Dream Passes have no blackout days at all, so can be used 365 days per year.
Just do some number crunching Poppyolivia - get DH told :goodvibes :lmao: !!
