View Full Version : Question re the 'Maggie' shot with Randy Chapman
Hi, I'm intrigued!
We're booking Randy for our wedding and I've seen a few people refer to the 'Maggie' shot that he does. What is it?

I know Randy is extremely thankful for all of the business that Maggie has sent his way! She has several 'classic' shots that I know several brides have asked for. All of her pictures are beautiful and have been the inspiration for several of our pictures. I know I was lucky enough to get a cake exactly like hers, it was beautiful! She was gracious enough to let me use her photograph to show my coordinator what exactly it was that I wanted.

Yes, I still have those Lenox Minnie and Mickey ears. As you see we are now planning our wedding and have about 70 people on the list - but are hoping for 50 to attend. I eventually did count all those ears and we have 18 Minnie (we could really use more) and I think around 50 Mickey (the number is at home and I do not remember it exactly). Not sure if you were ever able to get the ears or not but we might have an extra Mickey - but will not know until we get a final guest count.
I was originally going to give one to each person with their name on it but as I do not have enought Minnies for the women I might just do one per couple and then the Mickey or Minnie if it is single person coming by themself.

I'm sorry I think you misunderstood me. I never said that all brides who have had their wedding leave and never come back to help newbies. I just meant that having that off topic thread they had before was a good thing. It was a way for brides who bonded to stay in touch after their weddings had past. I personally liked having Maggimus and the others around because she was very helpful and wanted her to know I hoped she came back more often. That's all. It's that wrong to say?

Hey ladies! returning to the original topic, I just wanted to add that I absolutely loved Randy (I decided to go with him after seeing Maggie's pics as well).
His prices were cheap compared to what I would have paid here in NYC and he took well over 1,000 pics. Can't say enough about him!!

yes, I love it. I didn't know what it was going to be like but its high high quality. I live the coffee table type book you can upgrade but now you can make your own online on shutterfly.com so I am glad I got this one with real pictures. So glad you posted some photos of the ADH. That is where we are having our ceremonyl. My DF and I were just checking out Randy's website and he said "what about inside pictures" - most of the photos on Randy's website are outside. How did your Randy inside ADH pictures come out. I really want to do "table shots" also - don't know if you had these done. This way we will be sure to get at least one photo of everyone at the wedding. I don't remember if you had posted your Randy photos in your planning or wedding journal. Please let me know if you did and if so I will check out your journal to show my DF some ADH photos.

Linda- it would make a great guest book. when I was just down I took that book to our wedding planner( we met up to say hi) One of the other planners was looking at it asking questions because one of her brides was thinking of doing a guest book like that. Just thought I'd jump in and remind everyone that if they're booking Randy, and they have a particular style in mind, be sure to tell him! I didn't tell him that I was specifically thinking of artistic, "Maggie" shots, and was initially disappointed in what I got. Don't think he's a mind reader. A great guy, but not a mind reader! Tell him what you want, show him examples, and you'll end up over the moon!
P.S. Hey, Maggie! Hope moving to the new house isn't too stressful! Hope you love it just as much as when you were designing it!!

Not sure if you are commenting on my album from Randy but its not a coffee table style( digital flush mount) album. Its a traditional wedding album. Coffee table albums are those where the pictures are printed on the paper, no actual photo photo paper pictures.

Caryn--
What I'm making is not a digital flush mount. I don't know much about those, but I think Daniella's album is gorgeous. I found a website that sells the same album that Randy uses for the albums like Daniella posted. The one Randy uses is the Large Renaissance Verona Leather (http://www.proweddingalbums.net/index.asp?PageAction=VIEWPROD&ProdID=416). I found another site selling it for less (around $200), I'll post when I get home. The albums come in severals sizes-- I believe 12 pages (24 sides), 15 pages (30 sides), 18 pages (36 sides), 21 pages (42 sides), 24 pages (48 sides) and finally 27 pages (54 sides).
Basically you purchase the album and the photo mats (which are around $1 each, they range in size from 4x6 to 10x10). Then I'll have to decide which photos I want to use and have them printed somewhere. You then put the images in the mats with a bit of adhesive and insert them into the album sleeves. I think it will be quite a bit of work, but I can't spend another $800 for our album. Plus, if I do it myself, I can use our MK and Epcot photos from Disney. I think that deciding on the layout will be the most difficult part, but I've got nothing but time on my hands these days with no wedding crafts to create!
So that's my plan... we'll see how it turns out!

I don't know what we paid for the large album from randy since we got a package but I asked him about an extra parents album. which was 24 4x6's. It would have been about $300-$350 for one. I just looked at the link and those parents albums are still $200 just for the album, then you have to pay to print all the pictures and do the layouts yourself. Randy did it all. Just something to keep in mind.

I'm interested in what the cost will be for "just married" people, like us. The PDF on his website says $738+ for the 30 page album and you get a 10% discount. I'm curious if that is what will be charged, though.
