We're going to be taking a group of kids to Santa Clarita on the Memorial Day Weekend for a swim meet. Any suggestions for a hotel that is close to the College of the Canyons?
Any help would be great.

Anything in the Santa Clarita, Valencia, Stevenson Ranch area will be close to the College (and Magic Mountain). IIRC, there is a Hampton Inn, Hilton Garden Inn and Embassy Suites in the area. Check TripAdvisor for recommendations and reviews but I don't think you can go wrong with any of those. HTH

Even though I'm from Santa Clarita, I've stayed at a few of the hotels for various conferences I've attended. The Hyatt is the nicest and is fairly close to COC where you are going. There are a new Residence Inn and Embassy Suites a little farther north that look very nice, but they are in the industrial center. They are really only about 2 exits north beyond Valencia Blvd. which is where COC is located. There is a Holiday Inn Express that is also fairly close to COC, but I really prefer the Hyatt. On the other side of the freeway from COC, and not all that far away, is the Hilton Garden Inn, but right now they are doing some major construction in that area and I would avoid it. There are a few other hotels a little farther south off of Lyons/Pico, but that is a very busy area since everyone tends to get off there for a rest stop.
Santa Clarita is a very nice area, and the majority of our hotels are in nice places. The Hyatt is directly across the street from our mall, and a lot of restaurants.

Thanks for the info. We were actually looking at the Residence Inn as it has suites with kitchenettes. How is the area?

The Residence Inn is in a pretty busy area off of Lyons/Pico. We call that area "Hamburger Hill" because you can find about every brand you can think of around there. It is a major stop for people entering and leaving L.A., we used to use it ourselves before we moved into the area. The new hotels I mentioned earlier were the Courtyard Inn by Marriott(not Residence, I knew it was Marriott but got my branches of the business crossed), and the Embassy Suites. The Lyons area isn't horrible, but there has been a bit more instances of cars being broken into in that area since it is right next to the freeway. You are also very close to a major shopping area including a Walmart, Toys R Us, Old Navy, etc., and some pretty nice restaurants. Actually, the farther up the Old Road you get away from Lyons, going north, the nicer the area becomes. Stevenson Ranch is a little bit up the road from Lyons, where it becomes Pico.
