When we were in WDW my 3 yr old fell in love with a $55 Cinderella costume (this price does not include crown or shoes.) Despite the screams and begging, I did not buy it in the parks, but she's still asking for it. Is there anywhere I can get this cheaper? I cannot justify $55 for a costume. Help.

We saved just 10% when we bought it for our DD 3 years ago(she was 3). I refused at first, but it was ALL she wanted and ALL she talked about. It was the best spent $50 of the trip(besides breakfast at Cindy's!). We bought a size up and she STILL wears and loves that thing. :)
We have since got several other of those $55 costumes:rolleyes: ! She does love them. The Disney store sells much cheaper versions of these. Have you looked there or in the catalog? They are different, and my DD's Tinkerbelle one had cheaper itchy thread. We had to cover it with seam tape.:p

I just bought the cinderella costume at the disney store half price (15.00) - plus my DC discount. I know they are not exactly the same but they are close enough.

You aren't going to believe this but, I have a 17 YO DD who is graduating from high school this year with honors and got a nice sholarship to the college of her choice. (Just to brag and say she is an intelligent individual) When she was 4 we went on a shoestring to WDW for the first time. She has always been a lover of Cinderella, she still watches the video every now and then. Her prom is in May and she was always wanting to be Cinderella. Well she isn't going that route now because she wants to look more sophisticated and she is toying with the idea of being a fashion designer. She in her travels however found a Cinderella dress in a thrift store for $60 and she is thinking that she might want to wear that under her cap and gown at graduation. I still regret that I couldn't get her the costume at WDW when it was more age appropriate. I will most likely give her half the money for that dress for graduation??? They are only little once and the memories they make then will last a lifetime. I made her a Snow White costume for holloween one year and one of the greatest memories she has is me taking her and one of her friends to the food store in those dress up costumes they had on that day and letting them walk around the store in them. Everyone made such a fuss over the girls. People spend $50 on video games but roleplaying is such a great part of childhood. It will be a good investment. Trust me.

Wee, I checked out the ones at the Disney store by us, but they are really made out of a horrible material and are not nearly as nice as the ones in the park. Even my 3 yr old noticed the difference and said "no, I want the other one" So now my question is where can I get a dress like the one at the park without going back to WDW? Oh well, I guess we'll have to go back just to get the dress.:D

I do know there is a WDW Merchandising department that sells the park items.... Call the Disney Store closest to you & ask what the number is for the WDW Merchandising Department... that's who gave me the phone number to begin with.....

Good luck!!

Another vote for ebay....maybe not a lot now, but at halloween there should be some.

I have seen posts where people have asked about the costumes, only for another poster to offer an outgrown one.... put a post up asking - list sizes. I am sure someone may sell it to you over private email, if available. If not, I am an ebayer at heart!!

1. The disneystore.com outlet has some accessories for these- head pieces, slippers, wands, etc. on sale/clearance. Just saw them Wed. night.

My DD is 14 now, but when she was 5 or 6, I found Cinderella dresses at a Childraft Outlet store. I think I bought 3 of them and paid less than $10 each (I think they had been marked around $75 originally). The dress has several layers under the skirt and is really gorgeous. I want to save her dress for when she has a little girl (maybe), and I can't remember who I let have the other dresses. But, my reason for bringing it up was that you might check Childcraft stores (the one in Memphis is gone, so I don't know if they even have them anymore) through a search on the internet.

You may also want to check out patterns at your local sewing store. Can't remember, but I think it is Simplicity that carries a lot of disney princess patterns (may not be Simp., but it is a major pattern maker). Even if you don't sew, you could probably get someone to make it for you for less money and with nicer materials than you can buy it for. (I have been secretly hoping that our littlest princess (age 6) will ask me to make her a princess dress for our June trip. lol. So far I've had to content myself with making princess dresses for our two younger girls' american girl dolls! ;)

Hi... Why not call down to wdw and ask for the phone # to the store directly. Perhaps customer service could tell you the stores name and you could call . I do believe they ship all over the world for a fee. I would try that, not that making another trip to Disney doesn't so appealling! HOWEVER in the long run this might be cheaper! (not as much fun though!). I know the the store in the Contempory sells costumes... that might be the easiest way to go.

Thank you all so much for all your great ideas. I'll try calling the stores at WDW.

fyi...the new catalog doesn't have Cinderella costume in it. Sorry.

But for those of you interested, it does say that they will take $10 off the total thru the catalog and Disney.com thru August 9, and that just about covers shipping and taxes. That's only for costumes.

FYI I was talking to a CM tonight and she said they should have the princess costumes back in the store the beginning of august. She also said the would "light up" . If you saw the new princess rolling suitcases/back pack they light up also.
