4.5 miles -- 77 minutes

Just an easy walk before throwing my stuff in the car to head to Norfolk. Big sports weekend for our family -- girls are in high school regional swim championships and I'm off to do the East Beach (Norfolk) Half in Norfolk VA.

Wendy.. we are not posting daily totals.... You need to keep track of your own mileage for the week and then post your TOTAL for the week on this thread Next Friday. Okay? :thumbsup2 (Although.. I am impressed that you have done that already today!! All I have done is pick up and put down my tea cup!! LOL!!!!

No problem. I'll keep up with the weekly stuff as well. I just wrote it down here so I wouldn't forget! I guess I need to find a scrap of paper somewhere. :)

As far as my race plans... Got as far as north Raleigh and had to come home. Cracked axel in hubby's car meant he needed mine for the swim meet this weekend. The kid's swim meets trump my racing addiction -- after all, the Norfolk Half should be there for many years and my kids will be off to college soon. Yikes!

Awwwww... Kathy, the races are easy compared to keeping up with 3 kids, a job, and a husband who cheerfully volunteers us for all sorts of things. I love walking and Disney, so I'd do every Disney race if we could manage the expense (which, sadly, we can't). My only real regret is that it didn't become the family activity I'd hoped -- my daughters never liked running or walking -- even for the medals. They are swimmers to the core. My son, on the other hand, thinks he wants to be my running buddy. This year I'm going to try very hard to get him to some cool short races and "fan the flame". At 9, he's at that perfect age where he'll try anything -- and I'd love to get him interested in my "hobby".

It was a lovely day in central NY. Started out as snow-freezing rain-rain-snow. Made driving a little interesting. Went to the gym after work for about an hour. Will keep track of hours and miles on a spreadsheet and post at the end of the week.

Everyone keep up the good work.

I've got a two mile run (that has to be postmarked tomorrow, and I haven't mailed it yet :headache: ) on Sunday the 10th. It will be my first run since the 5K in Disney. I'll let you know how I do. I am hoping to pick up my speed. Just hope the weather is somewhat nice, and warm would be helpful.

Nothing scheduled till Goofy. I need to get a few on the calender. Does anyone have a good website to find races. My family is SOOOO busy with life that I need to find things close to home.

Thanks!

I was thrilled to drag my tired body to the gym this morning. I got in my longest distance in an hour on the TM and will endeavor to pump that up even more, adding to our teams miles a fraction of a mile at a time! ;) :cool1:

A training hint for y'all. From the training table of champions. Chilli, the classic chilli is loaded with carbs and protien and goes down easy. I reccommend eating about an hour before a long LSD workout.

Thanks!

bjkj, I'd recommend two things to start with...

Go to Active.com and click the link for the "Classic Event Search (http://www.active.com/advanced_search.cfm?RESET=0&CHECKSSO=1)" -- you'll be able to enter the state and the dates you're interested in and get a pretty good selection.

You can also go to runningnetwork.com (http://www.runningnetwork.com/index.html) and select from the list at the top that says "find a publication near you" -- This will list a lot of regional events and smaller local races.

Funny thing... Because of the family car trouble, my son and I ended up walking the trails at a local state park instead of me doing the half marathon I'd planned. At one point I was feeling a little blue, thinking about the medal I missed. I signed my son and myself up for the Ripleys Aquarium Fun Run at Myrtle Beach in a couple of weeks, though, so I used today to start coaching him a little. I was talking to him about races and what he should expect (i.e., don't go out too fast, try to stay out of the way of faster folks, try to relax and have fun, squeeze your cup into a funnel so you can drink and keep moving, etc., etc.) and in one of those "out of the mouths of babes" moments, he said, "Mom, isn't today nice? No crowds of people to weave through, no sidewalks or pavement, no clock -- just me and you enjoying nature and talking to each other. I really like races, but I'm glad for days like today too."

Yeah, and I'm glad I have you to remind me of that, son.

I am feeling like a new woman! My golden puppy slept 5 hrs straight overnight on Friday and Saturday, and last night she slept from 10PM until 4AM. Good afternoon Team!

I wanted to pop in to say hi. I am expecting another week of very late nights at work (hopefully I will get a bit of relief next week). But never fear, I refuse to let work get in the way of my running and I will get those miles in for our team! I am really excited about the half marathon I have coming up in March and I am training to attempt a pretty big PR so I will get my runs in no matter how little sleep I have to get to do so.

I hope everyone has a great week!

Cindy -- so sorry you are in the same boat with me on the long work days. WISHing you whatever time you want/need to work out! :goodvibes

Kathy -- LOVE the new picture of tough guy. How appropos for this thread!!

Pat -- So glad you got some much-needed sleep. Yes, having a puppy is like having a toddler (without the benefit of diapers!)

Have a great day, everyone! Hoping we can all make it to the gym or somehow carve out time for some physical activity! :grouphug:

Wendy - Out of the mouths of babes, huh? Those are priceless moments! DD and I had started a habit on Sundays after church of getting the dog and going to various parks and hiking/walking, but we got out of the routine after I got injured last fall. We almost went yesterday but ended up napping instead (she had her big school dance Sat night and got very little sleep!).

Pat - so glad the puppy decided to let you sleep last night. :cloud9: They are as bad as babies aren't they?

Chris - Loved the article!

Cam - Have you warmed up from your Plunge?

Cindy - Don't let yourself get too run down. We don't want you to end up  due to lack of sleep.

I did my gazelle this morning, and then tonight it was warm enough that DH and I took both dogs for a walk. Of course I brought my handheld Garmin with me so I could count my mileage and time for my Buzz Team. :thumbsup2 Came home and put it all in my spreadsheet. I just can't get it to subtotal yet. :headache: I'll use a calculator if I still haven't figured it out by Thursday.

Hi, team!

Jackie -- Thanks! They grow up so fast. :goodvibes

Allie -- I'm having problems getting a spreadsheet to work too.

Chris -- Did I read in one of these threads that you're a spreadsheet guy? Would you mind emailing me yours (a blank one, of course)? I'm great with Word or Powerpoint or InDesign or Camtasia -- all those programs tech writers use, but I know nothing about Excel and formulas!!!

Kathy -- Thanks for the love! All that dancing should race up lots of minutes for us.

Cam -- I missed that you were doing a plunge!!! You are my hero!!! Thanks for all you're doing on Sparkspeople too.

NY Kathy -- Can't imagine sleet -- I have to say we have had beautiful weather here lately. I'm a spoiled Southerner!

I'm sure I've missed lots of posts -- please forgive me. Gotta get ready for work!

Good morning Team!

Not much to report from last night. Between the puppy, the phone ringing, and needing to get online for my DD's SWA boarding pass (she is supposed to come home tonight - but the weather forecast is awful) I didn't get very many steps in at all. BUT - tonight DH volunteered to keep the puppy with him so I can have some quality TM time. Hopefully that will work.

Okay, I must admit that I am off to a slow start. My running buddy (and biggest motivator) blew out her knee skiing a couple of weeks ago. She's out for months.

I've gotten some weights, and a little walking in along with a couple of hours of volleyball (how do we count that?) But I've had a hard time getting outside.

I went to the park where I train and it was a disaster. A good deal of the trail was closed with trees down due to the ice storm in December. So I headed out to the soccer fields to run. They were SO soggy I couldn't do anything. So, today I thought that I'd find a good neighborhood to run in (I live out in the country but am off of a very busy and dangerous road). I woke up this morning to half a foot of snow and schools closed.

Ya, I know, waa, waa..... I need to develope a plan B and get out there. Never fear, I will get my miles in and log in some hours. I know that there will be a lot when I start training for Goofy in August. Until then, I am looking for a half marathon or two to train for between now and then. I do much better with a training plan on my calender! If anyone knows of a good way to find local races, let me know!

Happy running, walking and training all! I promise I won't let you down. Just need to find my grove!

Jill

aldisneygrl
02-06-2008, 07:52 AM
Jill - Just log the hours you played volleyball. I don't know how you could account for miles unless you wore a pedometer. Do the best you can!

Ok, I don't know where the rest of you live, but here in AL, we had one heck of a storm last night. Woke up to tornado sirens. Heard the weather man say that one was spotted a mile away. Woke up the kids and spent time in the bathroom. Everything is ok, just scary. I still got out and walked the dogs.

So have a good day everybody!

Good morning, all! The only running I've done since Monday is back and forth to the "facilities". Have been violently ill with flu symptoms since Monday night. I am sure the 6 pounds I've lost will reappear as soon as I can keep water or anything else in my tummy.

I hope everyone else is racking up the miles and hours to make up for this slacker. I can't believe I've missed 2 days of work!

CynthiaCindy
02-06-2008, 09:23 AM
Allie - Glad to hear that you are ok. Some of the reports I saw on the news this morning looked terrible.

Jill - I think others have already posted some good suggestions for finding local races, and I don't know where you live, but do you have a local running club? If so, they would have information (and likely sponsor) smaller local races. Or look up a running club from the nearest city and you should be able to find info on races close to you. For example, runwashington.com has information not just on D.C. races but on races in rural VA, MD, and PA.

Sorry for the fly by post. I'm going to try to come back later and catch up.

Kathy, a quick question......... How should we post our minutes? For example, would you prefer us to say 200 minutes or 3 hours 20 minutes or 03:20:00? Anyway, works for me. I just didn't know if you prefer one way over another -- since you'll be compiling them all.

Also, I hadn't been counting my walks to the school bus. The bus stop is .18 miles away, and I make 4 one way trips a day/5 days a week. Should I count that? Also, it is at a very leisurely pace.

Hope everyone is doing great. I did almost 6 miles today, and need to return some videos to the store later on. I'm hoping to ride my bike on my errands.

Kathy (Valentine) - Love your new tough guy photo!:thumbsup2
Pat - Congrats on the puppy sleeping through the night:upsidedow

Wendy - Sounds like you & your DS had a great day walking the trails:thumbsup2
Eva - I would definately count your walks to the bus stop:thumbsup2
Jackie - That was great that you & your DD used to walk/hike every Sunday...here's hoping you both find the time to do it again:yay:
Allie - Way to go with walking the dogs multiple times on top of doing C25K. :yay: Glad you were all safe from the storms:grouphug:
Chris - Loved reading the article on you...Very Cool!:woohoo:
Jill - :wizard: that you find someplace safe to run.
Cam - Sorry you are sick. Feel better! :wizard:
Anne - Did you hear there is going to be a new medal for the half.

I got to the gym on Friday night for some XT, Monday night for the TM & weights and Tuesday night for XT. Saturday I went for an easy W/R. Sunday was a rest day but we got in a few miles geocaching. Today was a rest day so the only thing I did was my stretching. I do the stretching at least twice a day everyday so that is always good for at least a half hour a day. :cool1:

I have exactly 4 hours (well, it was 4 hours and 32 seconds, but I think we can drop the seconds - or should we round up?) and 23.39 miles. This is all running, except that on Tuesdays I do intervals at the track and I let my Polar keep recording time and distance even as I am walking very slowly during the recovery period between the intervals. I think that time and distance should count, right? Although its not anything hard, it is part of the whole exercise. Feel free to let me know if anyone disagrees.

Yes you count both the miles and hours. Since we are competing in total hours exercised and seperately for miles.

We are doing it this way to encourage players to do the crosstraining and the cardio.

If you get anymore activity in today just let us know and I'll update your weekly total.

I can 100% guarantee you that there will be no more activity today (although I bet if I got a pedometer and kept track of walking around the office and walking to and from the Metro, it would probably add up to several miles a week!)
I am a mornings only exerciser - if I don't get my run in in the morning, there will always be excuses as to why I can't do it.

Hi All,
Here and accounted for. Just don't get much of a chance to post.

Totals through today:

Running
18 Miles = 3 hours

X Training
1 hour

That's it for this week. Pretty slow. I'm training for a half in a few weeks so I hope to pick it up a touch.

The weather here has been much nicer than a lot of you guys have it. We are still in the low 80's with humidity so I still have to get up early on Saturday to beat the heat!

enjoy the day,

Same here, Cindy. I need to put on my workout clothes when I get out of bed or it just won't happen. Something will always come up during the day that has to get done.

I need to add up my totals and will post in a bit.

Hi All,
Here and accounted for.

We are still in the low 80's with humidity so I still have to get up early on Saturday to beat the heat!

enjoy the day,
Duane

Thanks for checking in Duane. I've added you to our total for the week. I'd love to have that temp problem. It's a whole 34 out here today.

Great work and good luck in your half when it comes around!:thumbsup2

I will post my totals after my daughter gets home, and I get to go do my run. If DH and I walk the dogs tonight, can I add it late or should I tack that on to next week's total? We might not because it might be too cold for the dogs. They have very short hair and my little one has NO tolerance for the cold.

Okay, here are my totals for the week......

It took me 3 hours 25 minutes to walk 11.5 miles, and it took 1 hour 14 minutes to bike 13.08 miles. No weights or stretching or anything like that, so no minutes to report there.

Anyway, it brings my total time to 4 hours 39 minutes and total miles are 24.83.

Week 1 - Feb. 1 - 7

Total Miles: 16.32

Total Minutes: 273 or 4 hr. 33 minutes

Hope that is clear! BTW, can we see the spreadsheet or is that just for the Captain's and Co-Captain's only? If we can see it, how exactly do you get to it. It would be neat to see how we compare to each other, and to ourselves week to week.

Thanks, Jill! It's actually two races in one day -- a 1-mi fun run and a 5K at Myrtle Beach next Friday. The 1-mile we have almost an hour to complete, so no problemo. The 5K we have about the same amount of time, though the folks who have done it before say they always let the kids finish. I'm not too worried about him -- we've done 4-mi trail walks a couple of times now and he swims at least an hour daily -- and its a year-round swim team so they really work those kids. I just hope he doesn't get bored. :upsidedow

His first race was at midnight New Years Eve through a gigantic holiday light display and it was followed by hot chocolate and cookies. His upcoming race finishes in the shark tunnel at Ripleys Aquarium and has an after-party there. I'm going to have a hard time making all his races this much fun. :rotfl:

Yay for Chris!! Way to keep track...

Well I just got in from rehearsal.. way to rack up those tap dancing hours!! ;)

Okay.. .my numbers for this week are:

4 hours of Dancing.. really 10 but since I do have to stop and teach.. I cut it in halfish... I don't have any clue what that equates to in miles though!!! I guess I could wear my garmin while I teach.. but.. that could be a bit cumbersome!! LOL!!

Okay.. the treadmill hours/miles are:

15 miles....4 hours 46 minutes....

So.. my totals are

15 miles... and 8 hours 46 minutes :)

Hoping to get many more miles in on the treadmill this week!!!

WAY TO GO TEAM!! We are great!!!

My feeling is no. Every team (and possibly person) will have someone get sick or a slight injury that will put them out for a week or so, but unless it's a long term thing I don't think we would need a substitute. Everyone else agree?

Good Morning Team....

I was checking out the google spreadsheet & noticed that is has the weeks ending on Fridays. John & I had given our workouts through Thursday & since most everyone else posted their workouts on Thursday night or Friday morning I am assuming most (if not all) of us did the same. So, am I understanding this correctly that our weeks should include Friday? In other words, Week 1 was Friday Feb 1 - Friday Feb 8; Week 2 is Saturday Feb 9 - Friday Feb 15; Week 3 is Saturday Feb 16 - Friday Feb 22; etc.

Chris - If this correct do you want our Friday Feb 8th workouts to include with week 1 or do you just want us to leave it for week 2 & it will catch itself up there?

Valentine
02-09-2008, 10:45 AM
My understanding is that the week should only go to Thursday and that Friday should count towards the following week.. it is the first day of the next week.. People should have been posting their totals on Friday up till Thursday night.. NOT including Friday.... If you have seen otherwise, we need to take that to the Almighty Panda and have him straighten it out! Since I am leaving in about 10 minutes, Chris or Pat.. if you want to verify and confirm in my absence.. that is fine.. if not.. I can do it when I return on Monday. Either way is Okay with me :)

Thanks Karen for pointing that out! :)

I'm almost ashamed to post my miles for the week...

I promise to be a better team member, but until basketball season ends and I'm through working concessions at the high school, I have so little control of my life it's not even funny. I keep setting the clock to get up in the morning and work out, then turning it off and begging for more sleep.

So I have a measly little 70 minutes of activity, and 4.23 miles. (The good news is that I've already run 12 miles for the new week!) Next week's totals should be much better!

Good morning, team!

Kathy and Karen, our mighty Panda already pointed out that it didn't matter when your week started or ended..it was the month's total that would count. So, don't sweat the small stuff...it'll all come even at the end of the month.

Here are my thoughts. Just post your weekly totals through Thursday each week. (Which is what I think everyone has done so far) By the end of the year it will all balance out so we won't have to worry about which month our workouts fall into.

It gets a little crazy, but the way the weeks fall some of our workouts/days for example in March will actually be counted in April and some of our days in April will be counted in May. As long as by the end of the year we have all days accounted for that's all we really care about. :thumbsup2

Hey, TEAM!

I know I've been sick and off the boards...but did we know about THIS>>

I want to encourage everyone to do some local races in their areas also. Especially if you have never done one before. I'm sure unless you live way out in the sticks there should be some 5Ks this spring and summer. Most local 5Ks cost 10 to 20 dollars to enter, do a few and lean from it, then when you are doing a high dollar Disney race you won't be making the rookie mistakes like going out to fast and suffering the rest of the race.

To reward everyone for this, any miles you do in an organized race will count double.

I do have a quick question. How do you want us to post our minutes? Because looking at our total the time doesn't make sense. Is the (point) 88 hours aproximately 50 minutes? See, I'd look at that and say it was 69 hours and 28 minutes.

I am not running near that and probably won't. Are some of you getting the miles while riding? If so, keep riding! Since I don't ride I won't get into the 30's until closer to Goofy. The best I'll do is maybe 20 - 25. Unfortunately all my miles will be on my feet :)

Good Morning. Sorry that I've been MIA still, but my prediction that work was going to get better was wrong.:sad2: Last week was over a 60 hour week and this week looks like it is heading that way too (and that only counts the time I'm in the office actually working, not all the time I manage to somehow loose chatting with friends in the office or checking threads here)

At least I had a lazy morning this morning. I'm going to go run my 4 miles and then head into the office. I am still getting in my miles! I really want to start trying to incorporate some cross training, but that's going to have to wait until I have a bit more time.

Cam and Anne - I hope you both are feeling much better.

Yes they changed the spreadsheet to convert our minutes so the 68.88 is actually 68 hours and 52 minutes.

So if you want to send it in as 68.88 to all of us or 68:52 either way is fine. I'd rather it be 68:52, but that's just me.

As for me I'm taking it easy today. Hope everyone is having a great day and I hope to check in later! :yay:

Hello Buzzies!

I got in a couple of miles on the TM this morning. Usually Sundays are a rest day for me, but I am in training for my own version of a Goofy. I'm doing the Festival 500 half in Indy on May 3rd and the Minnie 15K the next day....so I am taking the MfM schedule, adding a mile to the Sat LSW distance, and then doing half of that at a little bit faster pace on Sun. So far so good!

I hope everyone is well, and for those of us with frigid weather - stay warm.

Ok Team, I ran my two mile race today. I finished in 23:25! I am very pleased with this time. I was hoping to finish in 30 minutes. When the guy told me 11:40 at mile 1, I started thinking I will finish faster! Then I thought, how great would it be to finish in under 25 minutes. When I rounded the corner towards the finish line and saw 22 minutes on the clock, I was thrilled. I ran with everything I had to the finish line.

Didn't I read somewhere, that I get to count that as double since it was a race? Please correct me if that is wrong.

Kathy V - Annie was wonderful Fri. night and we got a free upgrade! :thumbsup2 They didn't sell that many tickets for that night and they said that we could sit on the bottom level in the back three rows! :woohoo: We got better seats, and spent less money! :dance3:

Pat -- Wow, back to back races with a flight thrown into the mix. That's going to be a story to tell! Can't wait for the report!

Anne -- Thanks for cheering us on this weekend -- and always. :thumbsup2 Thanks for spreading the word about the double miles. That's good news for me -- and bad news for my husband, who would love for me to take a hiatus from all these races (because I never seem to pick the $10 ones :cutie: ).

Jackie and CynthiaCindy -- Don't fret. I know my mileage tends to flutuate a lot during the year. I do a lot of races, but sometimes the races I do are the only miles I get in that week because of work, kids, church -- LIFE!!!

Sandi AKA Allie -- Great pace and good for you for getting those double miles!!

Chris -- Thanks for all the spreadsheet work. :worship:

Space Ranger -- 33 miles! :cheer2: You're quiet but you get the miles in, buddy!

Duane -- 10 miles in one day is a lot for me for non-Goofy training. Good going! I have a stationary bike (a spinner) that I bought used (gotta love Craigslist :) ) last Nov to help with my tri training (though I won't be doing any tris this year). I gotta drag it out and start logging some miles on it to boost my total.

Karen E -- Thanks for the spreadsheet location!

Kathy V -- Did we do good? We're not on the 2nd page!!!!

Kathy NY-- Swimming! Bless you! That is a chore for me (which is why I'll never be the tri star Lynne is!)

Cam -- Feel better soon!

Jill -- Did you ever find any races near you? I'm glad you posted your question -- I learned some new places to look for races.

Eva -- I didn't even notice the .88, which is why I shouldn't be keeping up with numbers. :rotfl:

Nope, I haven't had a chance to look. I'll hit that today!

I am glad to see that races count as double. I've never done anything but 1/2 and full marathons. This will inspire me to do some shorter, local races. Yea!

If anyone is interested, Disney is having their semi annual pin sale today! I got 2 Buzz pins and a Goofy pin!

Good morning fellow team members.

My workout for today is swim lessons tonight. Since I already know how to swim and am just trying to build up endurance, the instructor lets me swim laps. It will be 40 min but I only record 30. That give me time to rest between laps.

Hope everyone has a good day and accomplishes everything they set out to do.

So I want to get this straight so that it is right in my nice spreadsheet. I can count my race as 4 miles in 23:25, right? Just want to keep things clear.

Also, what about seconds? Do we round up to the closest minute or do you want that detailed of info Chris? Just want to make sure I am accurately reporting. ;)

Let's keep moving to Infinity and Beyond!!!! :cheer2: :cheer2: :cheer2:

Anne -- your post had me  I hope you are feeling better!

Allie -- congratulations on that awesome time!!! :woohoo:

I know we aren't reporting interim minutes & miles here, but I wanted to thank you all for inspiring me to work out last night when I was really burned out and just wanted to retire to bed with a book (or a sandwich! :lmao: ) Instead, I did 2 Leslie Sansone workouts, keeping me on my feet and active for 70 minutes instead of on my butt in front of the computer or the tv.

Keep up all the great work, everyone!

BTW, did we ever fully complete the roster/introductions for this team? Any chance of editing the first post of this thread to put our team roster listing the screen name/IRL name?

Good grief, Cam!! When I read in one of your posts earlier that you did TWO LS tapes, my mouth dropped!! Fine example you set there!! ;) Now, I'll have to do two in a row. I could see doing one in the morning and one in the evening..but in a row?? I will tell you that the Kick one is one of my favorites. I worried, like Kristi mentioned, that they were not really cross training because of the walking. So, if they included more upper body stuff, I thought that was better. It's like the elliptical..I have a hard time thinking that's cross training..but JB says it is. I'm also following your example to do more core work this year. See what a GREAT influence you are??

OK, team..we, I mean, ya'll did an AWESOME job last week!! Keep up the GREAT work!!:cheer2:

I am such a bad team member! I never have time to post, but I am reading and trying to keep up with everyone, I promise. I've worked 9 shifts at one of two concession stands since we got back from WDW (each shift is 4-6 hours and usually follows a full workday), so time for me has been limited. All this to earn money so DD can go on the band trip to NYC in April. What's wrong with this picture? :confused3

I've committed to doing a half at the beach on March 8th, so I have to get serious about training. I did 12 miles on Saturday (10 with my group, then an additional 2.5 with the dog when I got home), 1 on Sunday with the dog, then 4 this morning on the TM. I really want to do weights tomorrow morning before work, but since it's 11:30 now and I just home from working concessions for the circus, I have a feeling I'll turn the alarm off and roll back over. No amount of loyalty to the team may be able to overcome this one!

Sandi/Allie - Great job on your race!

Kathy - Great job on the swim. I don't think I'd have been able to get out of the car.

Cam - You had every right to come home and do nothing. Two tapes at one time means you were ahead of the game!

Must go to bed now if I have ANY chance of doing anything productive tomorrow.

Good morning team mates. Still cold and snowy here, but it's CNY winter. We were lucky and didn't get the 3 ft of snow people to the north of us got. That would have caused some serious cross training.

Because of the swimming, I did not get in my 45 min on the TM. Will have to do that tonight. I might also have time to finish the binding on my quilting project.

Have a good exercise day and keep moving.

Hi Buzzies!

I am looking out my office window watching the the snow come down big time!! I just keep telling myself that every day is a day closer to spring (and Minnie) but it is getting really hard.....at least I don't have to accompany the puppy outside anymore. We have a fenced backyard but were still going outside with her to praise her when she did her duty (so that she'd know that was the whole point of being outside). Now I just have to watch her out the family room window to make sure she stays away from the pond, that is a big improvement over bundling up and taking her outside. The weather doesn't seem to bother her at all, after she has taken care of business she just wanders around, sniffing everything, and just hanging out. Gotta love them goldens!! Our lab though is very much an inside dog - she does a perimeter patrol to make sure the backyard is secure, takes care of business, and then heads for the door to come inside.

Have a good day everyone! I'll be hitting the TM tonight while watching Biggest Loser Couples.

Checking in with everyone. I'm kind of jealous of everyone who has snow (although you are all probably tired of dealing with it). All we have here is cold, nasty rain. Its 30 degress (feels like 23) - why can't we get some snow??!! I had a great run this morning. It was cold - feels like 15 - but it wasn't too bad. I'm glad that tomorrow is a rest day. Running in the cold is fine, but running in the cold rain - not so much. Depending on how late I get out of work tonight, I may try to get some cross training in tomorrow morning. I got a fit ball (is that the proper term for those?) for Christmas with an accompanying DVD that I have yet to use.

My exercise today consisted of shoveling snow for almost an hour. I figure it should also count as weight training as we had to have moved almost 300 lbs of snow. We had a mixture of wintery mix. Snow, freezing rain, snow sleet. That made the snow that much heavier.

Have a great time getting your minutes and miles in.

Someone explain this one to me... I set my clock for 5:00 so I could run 3 miles on the TM before work. I woke up at 3:45, having dreamed that I got up at 5:00 and got ready for work, then realized that I completely forgot to run. By that time I was showered and dressed and totally bummed that I'd missed the run. So I realized that it was only a dream, that I can still go back to sleep and still get up and run at 5:00. I did think I might do the bike instead, since my Achilles was a little sore and I thought it might be easier. Next thing I know, it's 5:30 and my clock has been going off for half an hour (I have NEVER slept through my alarm). I've missed the run/bike after all!

I'm thinking my body was trying to tell me that I was risking injury if I did run (or bike), which is why I missed the alarm. Don't know why I bothered with the dream part then! :confused3

So I do the right thing for the team - I get up and do upper body/core for 25:00 since I can't do anything else!

Jackie -- you obviously needed the rest. On behalf of the team, thanks for doing the upper body stuff! :cheer2:

Kathy -- shoveling snow is DEFINITELY cross-training!

Jill -- I do the exact same thing!! :confused3: What is with the leaning?

Duane -- right around Christmas I went out one day in the mid-40s and since I was dressed the right way, I LOVED every minute of it. Somehow, the brisk air was invigorating. There have been other times when deep breaths of cold air hurt my lungs, though.

Hello to Allie, Pat & Cindy & Kathy and anyone else I missed!! :grouphug:

I have been having a hard time getting motivated after working very long days. Last night I even had a band parents' meeting, but I changed into gym clothes at work and went to the meeting. I had a new bridal magazine to look at and new music on my ipod (Idina Menzel and the soundtrack of "Spirit of the Marathon"), so that was sufficient to get me to the gym instead of heading right home after the meeting. I was thinking a lot of all of you and how being part of a team is keeping me motivated! :thumbsup2

Keep up the great work, everyone!

Welcome, Michelle! :welcome:

Okay, here are my dismal numbers for this past week. Miles 8.97 and time 1 hour 38 minutes.

Sorry everyone. It was a hard week. My girls were sick and then we kind of passed it around the family  , so I ended up with it as well. We also had lots of rain which kept me from getting out, too. (I need to get some more tapes for those days.) Most of that time was from yesterday. Yikes!!!!

Looks like it might be a quiet week for me. Did 10 miles Saturday, but the right ankle started hurting fairly early in the run. Made it to about 8 before I called it quits and told DH I had to walk it in. It was DH's first run with our group, so he was torn between finishing at a good pace or being a good hubby and staying with me. He was a good hubby! I've kept it wrapped since and figure I won't run at all this week, then wait and see how it feels before I decide about next Saturday. We have a half coming up in 3 weeks, so if I have to stay off of it until then I'm willing to do that! What scares me is that it felt very much like the left one did the day I got the stress fracture, but the pain didn't get as bad (hopefully because I quit in time!)

I may give the bike a try; if not, I'll at least get a FEW minutes in with the weights!

Sorry to be so late with this week's numbers -- they were hardly worth the wait, but I've been out of town since Friday. I only managed 2 walks this week -- 4 miles on the TM (1 hour) and a 1-mile fun run with my son (1 mile, which counts double, which took us more than an hour but we'll call 30 minutes [doubled is an hour] -- the long story is in the link that follows). So that's 6 miles and 2 hours.

Here's my race report:
http://www.disboards.com/showpost.php?p=23271367&postcount=15

Excuses, excuses. I've been working a lot lately -- and I've also started several walks that were interrupted by family emergencies of one sort or another. The long hours at work won't go away anytime soon, but I will endeavor to fit in some walks somehow -- I'm sorry to have performed so miserably this week, team. I know I let you down.

Hi Team!

Wendy and everyone else - do NOT feel like you are letting the team down when you have a "bad" week. Remember we are in this as a team, for all the right reasons. I imagine over the course of the next ten months or so there are going to be times when a team member is sick or experiencing LTO. Let's face it - stuff happens. But, we are in this for the long haul, and we are a TEAM, ready and willing to encourage and support each other. I am never going to put up big numbers (unless maybe I pull out my old style bike and that probably won't do it either!!), but I am putting in my steps AND doing a little bit of XT. I'm doing a little more than I normally would at this time of year, and that is a good thing. So.....

Alli Where are you today? I cant remember what part of Alabama you're in, but I just saw the news of tornadoes, and decided to come look for you!!

Hope you and those you know and love are all ok!!

I'm fine, Sandy! All those tornadoes (just looked it up on the web) were quite a bit South of me. Actually it hit where my bosses daughter is working, so I need to check in with her and make sure she is safe. Thanks for coming in and checking on me.

Ever had those times when you know you should be doing something that you aren't -- and you just can't seem to make yourself do it? The past two weeks I've felt that about healthy eating and exercise. Part of it is the long hours at work, but I'm also in a blue funk because I've regained some of the weight I'd lost and I have a doctor's appointment tomorrow where she is sure to point that out to me and threaten the "D" word again (diabetes). What is wrong with me!?!?!?

I'm headed out to see the marathon movie tonight where I hope to get a little morale boost. In marathoning, at some point you have to move forward when you don't really feel up to it. This situation I find myself in is no different. It's just a few pounds, it's not "the ultimate defeat" -- Come on, Wendy! You're a marathoner, girl!

Wendy -- I am sorry you are not feeling motivated right now. I have definitely been there, and for a while, too. I hope the movie will renew your spirit and your motivation. It was really wonderful and uplifting for me. So much so that when I got home, DS14 (Andrew) saw something in my face. "Uh oh, Mom is feeling inspired. You're going to do another marathon, aren't you? After promising yourself you wouldn't, I can just tell you are already thinking about it again!" LOL! Yes, the movie is that wonderful. Be sure to stay for the interviews and extra footage after the credits. Oh, and pay attention to the soundtrack. I purchased it for my ipod and it is wonderful!

Hey Buzzies,

Here are my stats

Miles - 8.94
Hours - 6.00

Hi everyone - hope all is well!

Just to let you all know, I WILL add on the miles soon. I promise! Here's the deal. It is YUCKY here. Can't seem to bring myself to get out and walk with negative wind chills. Hopefully, we'll get a break soon. I usually LOVE winter, but this is seriously getting a little old.

I am one of the lucky ones that is plagued by a never ending "bad" knee. I figured that since I am not officially training right now, I am going to work on my strength. I have an AWESOME workout on my treadmill with I-fit cards. Right now I am doing a lot of hill work and strength training. I have found that it is much harder to walk hills than run flat, but it doesn't give you many miles.

I am also playing volleyball. I wish that we could count the miles somehow. This week we only had 4 of us against a really good team with 6. We won two out of three and had to work our butts off to cover the floor. I know I had at least 100 miles on my legs by the end of the night.

I also find myself in the stage of life that I am spending more time as a spectator than participant. The kids' basketball seasons have ended and that will free up some time. I am coaching my DD's tournament volleyball team and that's taking up my Saturdays and some evenings.

I missed a workout taking my MIL out of town to a doctor's apt.

Let see, what other excuses - oh ya. LOST, Survivor and American Idol have started again. :rolleyes1 I'm putting in some time in front of the tube.

So please bear with me. I will put on the miles when 1. I am training for a race. 2. I can get outside and walk my beagle and 3. I also plan on dusting off the bikes this spring and heading out with the kiddos.

Have a great weekend all.

Jill

Hey team. Checking in with last weeks totals. Sorry I've been oh so busy, but wanted to put the teams numbers out there. I also was waiting for our new team member, but I never heard from them. Anywho, for week two we did 255.69 Miles slightly behind week one's total and we did 69.87 Hours which was slightly ahead week one's 68.88 total.

As for me I'll be back to report my totals this weekend. My treadmill is still torn up and my parents is torn up as well (It's only been over a month now) so all of my runs have been outdoors. Probably one of my favorite runs happened on Monday. I started running and it was sunny, really cold, but sunny. By midway it had clouded up and a light snow had happened. With a couple miles to go it looked like a blizzard and I was running and loving every minute of it. I was smiling and laughing (Luckily no one could see me) and I called my daughter. I said, "Look outside at the snow I feel like I'm running in a snow globe." I came in the house and was covered in snow. My family got a real kick out of that. :rotfl2:

I hope to get a run in tonight, but we are going to get some really yucky weather so I may be out running in it again. We'll see.

Hope everyone is having a great week! :thumbsup2

Wendy - Are you going to North Hills to see the movie? If so, I'll see you there!

I guess I can go ahead and post my totals for the week - nothing is likely to change before the end of the day!

Miles: 9.97
Hours: 2:47

Remember that I've been trying to stay off my ankle this week, so all of those miles were put in before the injury on Saturday. I'm hoping for improvement during the next week, but I'm not going to push it either. We've been rolling out a new inventory program at work, so the hours there have been intense. When the clock goes off in the morning to tell me to get up and work out I've just groaned and gone back to sleep.

I know I keep saying I'm going to catch up and I hope to one day. I did want to pop in with my totals for the week.

miles... 24.62

Much better than last week, so I am pleased with that. Slightly fewer miles than week 1 but a few more minutes. I was wantingto get more cross training in, so that is a good thing.

Have a great week end everyone. My girls and I may be taking off for WDW tomorrow after school. Not sure yet. Don't even know if we can get a room. I guess I really shoul call and find out about that, huh? :rotfl2:

Hope everyone is doing OK. Looks like a lot of snow in the North East.

Last week:
Miles: 20.5
minutes: 235 minutes

I had a minor procedure on Monday but it was one of those that required no eating on Sunday. So I didn't do anything Sunday or Monday. I never take 2 days off.

This will probably be a short week as I taper a bit for my half marathon next Sunday.

Have a great week,

For the record, I don't think that any contribution is small. We are all working at this together. I know that I will never be able to put in some of the miles that some of you do. That is why Dave mixed us all up. So we would have balance. I am trying to compete with myself. I try to do as many miles as I did the previous week, or add something to my workout, like stretching or XT. In the end we are going to be one HEALTHY group! So, don't get down on yourself by having a small week. We are all going to have that at one point or another. Life gets in the way sometimes, so just keep moving! :cheer2: :cool1: :yay: :dance3: :dancer: :laundy:  (I tried to find all the moving smilies::yes:: )

Kathy (Valentine) - Annie is playing at the theater I have to walk past to get to my office - I thought of you when I saw that!

I hope everyone is having a good week! I'm still as busy as ever :sad2: Things usually calm down at work in the summer, but that seems a long way off. Right now I'm just sooooooo ready for spring to start. The weather (and my general lazyness) made me skip my 8 mile tempo run on Friday. I was feeling bad about that and having a low mileage week, so I made it up this morning! Not with running but on the exercise bike 30 minutes, 7.9 miles. I live in a high-rise condo building and we have a tiny gym on the top floor. I NEVER go up there because there are only 3 treadmills and 1 is almost always not working, there is always a line to use the treadmills, there is a 30 minute time limit, I never run for only 30 minutes at a time, and I don't really have the time to stand around waiting to use a treadmill (I can't even lift weights while I wait because they keep those locked up untill 8AM and I only run/workout before work). Anyway, I decided I would go up there this morning hoping that a bike would be free, and it was! (all treadmills occupied with lines, of course).

I finally have some cross training! And on Sunday I also started doing crunches and plan to do some everyday, so that will add a few extra minutes. I have NO core strength at all and I know that it negatively impacts my running.

Sorry for the all about me post - gotta get back to work.

I just wanted to say thanks to my Buzzies. It is so weird how being accountable to a group of people I don't know can help with life!:goodvibes

I was having a bad day, feeling pretty sorry for myself and a little down in the dumps. I had missed my morning workout (and if I don't do it first thing, it doesn't ever seem to get done.) I had some free time this afternoon but was feeling really lazy and still a little blue.

I finally said to myself "You need to get some excersize in today. You need some miles or minutes for your team." So I made a deal with myself to head down to the park (it is finally 48 and a little sunny). I had to walk around once (1.6 miles) and then I could go home.

Well, funny thing happened. I started feeling so much better. My mood improved, I worked out a lot of things in my head and I spent the time thinking about how grateful I am to have my life. Of course, I walked around twice because I was feeling so good. (3.2 miles!)

So, anyway. Thanks! If I didn't have to post my miles and minutes, I'd still be sitting around feeling sorry for myself!

THANKS BUZZIES!

Woohoo! I'm here. Thanks for the welcome.
As an intro I'm a slooooooow runner. My hubby got me interested in running when he started with Team in Training right after a friend of ours died of leukemia. I ran my first 1/2 marathon in January of '07, and proceeded to do something like seven more halves and two fulls in that year.
We had our first WDW trip in January, culminating in me doing the 1/2 and DH doing the goofy. We're registered to do the EEC as an anniversary present to ourselves. It looks like a very "us" event with the puzzle solving/scavenger hunt element, as we do something similar to that here in DL called MouseAdventure, just without the running part.
Looking forward to getting to know you all and checking in!

Hi everyone!

I'm a newbie to running. I am on the 6th week of Marathoning For Mortals. I am also slow (very slow). I see a trainer twice a week. It helps keep me going. Sometimes on my own I'm not very consistent. I have done 8miles, 248 minutes this week. I will be taking next week off from exercise. My trainer does that once in awhile. I have some nagging injuries I am trying to get cleared up. So next week won't be so great, but after that I hope to make a great contribution to this team.

Have a great day!!!

I'm gonna go ahead and report my week's totals. Keep in mind that I expected to report almost nothing due to issues with the ankle (although I'd hoped to do upper body in the mornings... :rolleyes1), so the fact that there are any miles at all is a victory!

As for me….life has been crazy :crazy2: lately. Sean(DS) & his DGF moved in with us to save some money. (for anyone that doesn’t know…they are due to have a baby in May) So, I have been cleaning out our spare bedroom (which is more like a giant closet – it is amazing as to how much crap you can accumulate over the years - :lmao: ) to be the baby’s room. I’ve also been working on the Baby Shower with Marie’s mom, and working on planning details/research for an Alaskan Cruise we are doing with friends this summer. But…thanks to the team challenge I am still making sure to get my workouts in…so…Thank You team for keeping me motivated. :goodvibes Been having issues again with my right hip, piriformis muscle, IT Band and had a little bit of trouble with my left knee, so I have been making sure to stretch multiple times a day, doing strength/weight training at least 2 times a week, and doing lots of biking & elliptical instead of the TM. The good news to that is my miles have been higher. :rolleyes1 I did walk on the TM last night & threw in a couple of 1 min. jogs. Legs felt pretty good so I will probably add more TM work now. I am still planning on doing the bike at least 2 days a week so that should hopefully keep my miles up somewhat.

Here is my stats for 2-22-08 – 2-28-08:

Miles – 19.3

Time – 8:35

Leslie and Michelle - [B][SIZE="6"][COLOR="DeepSkyBlue"] That EEC looks so cool! I wish I could convince DH that I need to go back this year. :rolleyes1

It's so funny that our first trip was in January and now we're going back the two of us in September and all four of us in November for Thanksgiving week. We had to go and fall in love with a place clear across the country!

I just logged my first miles for the week on a beautiful trail run. It's going to be fun keeping track, and it does make me feel more accountable to get my exercise in.

Have a great weekend, all! I'll be gone from the computer as I'm coaching for the LA marathon for TNT this weekend. I'll be looking for WISH shirts!

Training for the week thru yesterday was
261 min and 10.8 miles. All the time, except 75 min of shoveling, was on the treadmill.

Did a challenge on BT with Lynne and Erin where I signed up for 8 hours or run/walking. I met that goal so Lynne signed me up for 6 hours of biking in March. May have something to do with getting a new bike that is custom fitted to my body. Should make riding easier. Only need to get better outdoors so we are dealing with snow covered roads.

Everyone is doing great with keeping up there exercise.

Does todays time go on with March or do we report again tomorrow?

Hi everyone! :) I am so excited to part of a team and I love that it's Buzz's Brigade! He's one of my favorites and people look at me like I'm crazy when I say "To infinity and beyond."

I've done a few 5k races & Bloomsday in Spokane, WA (7.46 mi) a couple of times, but have finally taken the plunge and signed up for the WDW Half. So far this year, I only have a 5k planned to run on May 25 and Bloomsday again on May 4, but I tend to sign up for stuff on the spur of the moment. :)

Tomorrow, March 1st, I will start running again. I have to take winters off because of the snow & cold. Only this past week have I seen the sidewalks. lol. I hope I can help the team add a few miles & minutes to the weekly totals. :woohoo:

Welcome new teammates!!!!!

Another short week for me -- 4 miles and 1 hour.

March is going to be a better month. It has to be. I had my dreaded followup visit with my doc and my blood pressure was so high that she wants to increase my blood pressure meds. Just in November she was telling me if I kept doing well, she'd consider reducing it. What a different 17 pounds and 8 weeks of less walking makes.

So, I can give up or I can straighten up. I think I'd rather straighten up.

Off to the treadmill to log a few miles before bedtime.

Woo Hoo! Had my first run/walk since October outside! It was great to be outdoors with the sun, wind, mud, sticks (lots and lots of sticks left from the ice storm), the Canadian's flying overhead, aye!

What a GREAT DAY!

I finally found a race to train for. I am shooting for Lincoln Half Marathon May 4. Getting a little bit of a late start (only 10 weeks as opposed to the 16 I normally do for the half). But that's okay since I've become a Buzzie and put some miles on the TM this past month.

Did 4.1 run3 walk2 combination. 55 minutes including warmup and stretch.

Felt great! 65 degrees outside. Tonight it turns nasty with a 90% chance of rain and a high of 35 tomorrow. Oh well, at least we had ONE day!

Happy day all,
Jill

Hi everyone! Well.. I am officially in Rehearsal Heck... Things are getting nutty... cast changes... rehearsal space shortages.... Why Do I Do This Again???? Can Someone please tell me?? OY!!!

Anyway.. I have had very little time for me... and even less time to be on here... I am not a good captain this week!!! BUT that is why we have 3 of us!! YAY!!!

Anyway... .my contribution is really low this week.. I have used much more brain power than body power this week... so... 3 miles and 2 hours is what I have to offer!

I hope to pick up the pace this week... LOTS of Dance rehearsals!!

Hi Everyone.. Sorry I can't do individual hellos... and kudos.. but.. I am really beat!! Off to bed for me!!

I hope everyone had a great weekend.. ..and here's to an even better week!!!

Alright I have everyone up till this point. I still need Mini Girl's numbers as well as IHEARTDL (If you are starting reporting the first week of March just let me know.) I also added Jusacuz to the spreadsheet.

Okay, I'm here to confess that I'm a terribly weak link in the BUZZ team right now. I did get out and run on Saturday...well, walk and attempted a run, but it was more like my lungs screaming at me that I was insane. Then it snowed and rained and snowed and it's been cold. I should just do some home workout, but really the weather is making me soooo sleepy.

So I apologize in advance for not contributing a lot this first week. If Mother Nature would just cooperate, I'd be doing way better. :)

Duanerice/Duane, haven't heard from you on how your half went. You OK? :confused3

Hi Gang, I'm back, just really busy at work. I am going to post my miles today since I am leaving tomorrow for a cruise. Just a 4 nighter to Cozumel, but I can't wait! And yes I am taking my work out clothes :)

I did run the in first half marathon ever in Ft Myers. The Hooters to Hooters. It was awesome. I was toying with the idea of running a 2 hour half, but in training, I had never run that far with 9 minute miles. I ran with a friend of mine with the agreement that if all goes well I'd take off at the bridge which was 7 miles in. Now this is a BRIDGE, over and back. All went well so I continued and actually picked up the pace a bit. Bottom line I finished @ 1:56. That is a PR for me because I have never run a half before. I started with a full then worked down to a half.

After the race, which of course ended at Hooter's, they had all the normal stuff, bagels, energy drinks, bananas, etc. But they also had Hooters wings and beer served by the Hooter's "servers". And I even got a Hooter's medal!

So, since I was in a race I get to double my miles right?
13.1 X 2 = 26.2
The only other time I ran was tonight and I did 3 miles.

Totals for the week were 29.2 miles
Hours: 3:45

Good afternoon Buzzies….

Leslie – Glad everyone is feeling better. Congratulations on the Half & doubly so for coaching.
Kathy (NYcpa) – Congratulations on meeting your BT challenge! Oh….and a new bike…very cool! Hopefully it will warm up for you soon so you can get out there on it.
Jessica – Welcome! Congratulations on a great first week.
Wendy – Sorry your Doc visit didn’t go to well. It is now March, weather should be getting better, and Spring will be in the air before you know it. It will give you the motivation you need & your BP will get back under control.
Allie – No apologizes, you did great this week. Congratulations to your DS on getting his Driver’s Permit! :thumbsup2 :scared1:
Jill – Yay for getting outside. I got a couple of walk/runs done outside this past week. It was so great being outside instead of on the TM. The Lincoln Half looks like a great race. I’ll have to keep it in mind for the future.
Kathy (Valentine) – Hope rehearsals haven’t been as crazy this week & you were able to have more me time.
Chris – That’s great you got out for a nice family walk. Those are always fun!
Anne – How’s your foot holding up? No, unfortunately the cruise is not the Penguin cruise. We had already made plans with friends, and although they do go to the gym with us, they don’t do races, so we couldn’t ask them to switch to the Penguin cruise. But heck….that’s a reason to go back and do another Alaskan Cruise….right? :lmao: About 2 1/2 months till you can call us grandparents. His due date is May 21st. Time is really going by fast.
Duane – Hope you are enjoying your cruise! Congratulations on the Half! You Rock! :thumbsup2
Pat – I’m looking forward to see what races you pick for 2009. You really seem to find some great ones. I am so with you on the so many great events, but limited $$$ & time. We all need to hit the lottery. :lmao:
Jackie – Good luck on your Half tomorrow. Keeping fingers crossed that the weather improves for you. Hope the ankle is feeling better.
Cindy – Wow….you certainly do have a big week coming up. :wizard: for a good 16 miler on Sunday.
Cam – Hope work has eased up for you a bit this week & you were able to get some time to de-stress.
Eva – :wave2:
Michelle – :wave2:
John – :love2:

As for me….Got outside today to do my 5 mile LW/R. I was supposed to do it this weekend, but 1st – tomorrow is my birthday so didn’t feel like doing it then, and 2nd – the weather isn’t going to be too good all weekend. Choice was do it today outside on tired legs (from last nights workout) or wait until Sunday & do it on the TM. Had to pick today. LOL Legs were heavy the entire time, but at least it is done.

Here’s my numbers for the week (2-29 – 3-6)

Hey Buzzies,
Thanks for allowing me to be a part of your team. I really look forward to getting to know you and contributing . How about a little background on me. (I had posted this on another thread so if you already know me, sorry!)
I was bouncing merrily along in my simple little life when in Oct/Nov of 2006 I was diagnosed with Cutaneous T-cell lymphoma:sick: . A rare non fatal form of blood cancer. After many test it was decided that I would begin chemo in Jan 2007. Being married to a very strong breast cancer survivor that had overcome a mastectomy and chemo/radiation we handled it very well. One side affect of my chemo/treatment was that I had to take mega doses of prednisone. One of the side effects of this was I ate everything in sightpopcorn:: . So by July of last year I had turned 50, gained 30lbs and received the word that I would have to have chemo every three month until……..So I had another chemo round in Sept. About this time my sister who is an avid runner talked me into walking a couple miles a day to improve my health/weight loss goals. So last Oct I started. Walked and ran right on through 2 chemo treatments in Jan and competed in the marathon relay with my 2 DS and DBIL’s in Myrtle Beach in Feb. (I was a fill in for my DW who has developed Lymphodema in her arm.<side affect of have lymph nodes removed<. Would take another page to explain!!) Anyhow we were so proud of our times at Myrtle Beach when we found out that they would not be doing the relay any more. So we said what the heck, me being the Disney addict in the family let’s all do the Disney ½ next Jan. So we are all signed up and training. There are six of us coming, five entered with DW cheering us on. We are all so excited.
I will keep you updated on training. I work 12hr swing shifts in and office :surfweb: so most of my training is on off days. I did buy a Garmin and have been keeping a record. Thanks again and look forward to getting to know each of you!!

Oh yeah I almost forgot>>>>>>

All right fellow Buzzies, I need help and a kick in the rear. We finally decided NOT to go this weekend, so I did NOT run 13 miles this morning. I did nothing but sleep. (And it felt really really good, I might admit!) At this moment I don't care if I never run again. I haven't run since Feb 16th - have done a 3 mile walk, but that's the only mileage of any sort in 3 whole weeks. There is a 5K next Saturday that I'm hoping I'll get off the couch and register for (and actually run). Some of it is my ankle, but more of it is lack of motivation. Even knowing I need to be contributing to the weekly competition isn't motivating me to hit the roads or the TM. I don't know if I'm just burned out after a year of prep for Disney, or if I just need to get out there and get to it. I've been on a chocolate binge like someone told me they weren't making anymore, and I know that's not good, especially if I'm not running!

Hoping I can count on you guys to help me out of this funk...

Jackie
