Exactly, I brought a little cash every day for smaller purchases and snack stands but mostly used my MasterCard. I like to justify my spending by reminding myself that I get cash back rewards :p

I highly recommend Disney gift cards to use as cash! We used them for every purchase at Disney from all of our food and snacks/water/soda to all souviners! Worked like a charm! You get a receipt after every use with the remaining balance. I had one credit card as back-up and a little bit of cash for tips, etc, but rarely used either. (we stayed onsite)

I bought a couple Disney gift cards at the Disney store at the mall and added money to them every payday. I'm using the same gift cards this year and adding money for our next trip! :)

If you are staying at a Disney owned-and-operated resort, you can set up a room charge when you check in at your resort. This is just incredibly convenient.

You back up the room charge with a credit card, debit card, cash, travelers checks, even Disney Dollars. You room key serves as your room charge card. One convenience beyond not having to carry cash is that you won't have 87 separate little charges on your credit/debit card, but rather one big single charge at the end of your trip. If you want an itemized accounting of your spending, you can request a print-out at your resort at any time.

EVERY PLACE in the theme parks and resorts accepts room charge. There may be exceptions for non-Disney owned contractors (such as when the Food and Wine Festival is going on). Some places in Downtown Disney take room charge and some don't.

Incredibly convenient. I love having a cashless week when I carry around one single card that does all of my paying for me.

We carry very little cash. We just use it for snacks at the stands and such. We used our resort key for everything else.

We charge everything to our room. Great convenience! We take a little cash and also 1 credit card just in case we can not charge to our room at the place where we are at. Oh, we also take all our Disney Dollars!

Regarding checks - I know you said you did not plan on taking them but for anyone else out there who does I wanted to mention this.....I read somewhere last night (and to be honest I do not have any idea where this was) that Disney does not take personal checks (note this is in regards to personal checks and not travelers checks which they do take). I thought that was odd. It does not effect me though as we do not use checks while traveling. But if anyone out there is planning on taking and using personal checks then you may want to do some research first.

I'm with the posters who use their KTTW (room) card. It's just so easy to have only one card for everything. I don't like to carry a lot of cash around and I'm pretty disciplined about spending so this works well for me. Many of the little snack places take your KTTW card and all those little purchases go toward your rewards or air miles or whatever you get with your credit card.

Probably for the past 10 trips, we've taken 400.00 in cash, mainly for tips and the grocery stop and have returned home with 300.00 of it. We put our Discover on tap, cash back bucks, and just use our room keys for everything. The cash and credit card we leave in the room safe, only our room key to worry about. Never had any problems with charges or our Discover bill, and we get express check out.

I use a little bit of cash each day and for the rest I use a prepaid traveler card (like a mix between travelers checks amd a gift card) that I got from the AAA travel office. It was really nice to just have all of the cash I had been saving up on one card and It was protected in case I lost it.

Do you purchase the room charge card when you check in? This is a great idea.

We will use our room card for most things...but our room charge and any other charges...will be linked to our Royal Caribbean Card so we get on board credit. Usually we would use our Disney Card (yes we pay all in full) but since we know our next trip will be the cruise, we will use that card.

This trip we have $70 on our Disney Visa in reward:yay: and that is only from using the Disney Visa when we couldn't use our Amex. Easy money!

Do you purchase the room charge card when you check in? This is a great idea.As I wrote in the post you quoted, your room key serves as your room charge card. It's nothing to purchase. You set up the account with a credit/debit card or cash, etc. When you reach your spending limit or at about 3:00 a.m. on your check-out date (whichever comes first), Disney charges your credit/debit card. If you put down a cash deposit and didn't charge up to that amount, you will get a refund when you check-out.

We charge to our room. We carry very little cash with us...we only end up using cash for tips anyway. I like room charging for the convenience as well as having an extra list of all our expense PRIOR to leaving so I know for sure what I should be expecting on the CC bill when I return home.

I would like to use my room card for all my expenses while we are there but our entire trip has already been paid for (We paid the full amount when we booked.) Can I still use this service? When I check out is that all I will be paying for, the misc. expenses? This is my first time booking/planning a trip!::MinnieMo

EVERY PLACE in the theme parks and resorts accepts room charge.

From memory, all the snack carts in the parks are cash only, so you need a small ammount of cash for sodas, hotdogs etc.

I always carry my money and tickets in the safest place for me, my camera bag. It's little and has a zip pouch on the front which I keep it all in. I NEVER take my camera bag off my wrist though, that's very important:laughing: That way it is always with me wherever I go.

My memory respectfully but very strongly disagrees with your memory.

The popcorn carts, the ice cream carts, all of those carts on wheels that are put away every night ... they all accept room charge, credit cards, etc.

This is my first time booking/planning a trip!::MinnieMoSetting up a room charge has nothing to do with paying the bill for your room, and thus is totally unrelated to how your room was paid for; in fact, everyone who books a package pays for their room way before they arrive at WDW.

Room charge is specifically and only a means of paying for purchases that you make anywhere in WDW that takes room charge (which is everywhere in the parks and resorts, and some places in Downtown Disney). It is a convenience to pay for all of these things with the room charge rather than with cash or with a credit card. The convenience of room charge over a credit card is that at the end of your vacation you have one big total charge for all of those purchases, versus having a multi-page credit card bill/bank statement that lists 107 separate transactions.

I agree with everything CleveRocks said in the previous two posts. We used our room charge for the popcorn carts, ice cream places, etc. We don't bring much cash and most of it goes toward tips for Mousekeeping or the ME driver. It's so convenient.

We have travellers cheques (from the uk) which we leave in the hotel safe and just carry enough for that days food. Everything else gets charged to a credit card. We don't like carrying cash

Mostly all of the carts can take plastic, but you will find an odd one occasionally. I recall that in November, the beer stand at Morocco was cash only. I will say, that should've been my clue to keep moving. Bad beer, bad.

I carry very little cash while I'm at WDW. I prefill my daily housekeeping envelopes before I leave home and keep these locked in the in room safe. I pretty much use my room key to charge back to my room and keep all of my receipts to check against my final bill. My last trip I was on the DDP, so that took care of meals & snacks. This trip I'm on the DDDP, so again, should be all set.

We use some cash, mostly charge to our room, and to carry our money and passes around I too keep a small wallet with everything in it and carry it in my camera bag which I put across my chest. It never leaves my body all day long. It works for us.

Great thinking with the Disney Gift Cards--we've been giving DS8 disney dollars for the past couple months but gift cards are another great way to save! We take a debit/credit card for emergencies, but mostly use cash stowed in multiple places. My DH was suprised at how many places I had money that he couldn't find!!!

I was thinking of just paying everything with credit card, but like the idea of only having a few charges showing on my cc rather than a bunch of tiny ones. The only drawback I can see to the cards is if you lose it then you are out of luck, same as cash, whereas credit card or travellers cheques or KTTW you have a bit more protection I'm thinking.

Can you buy the gift cards online. Are the gift cards accepted at most places that the KTTW or credit cards are accepted?
