Which week to go in august or September

I am having trouble deciding when to go. I have been there the second week of Sept. with very low crowds, but shorter hours.
We would like later hours, but do not want to end up with large crowds and waiting in line. There were no lines in Sept. How are the lines during the 3rrd week in August? Everyone back in school?, or everyone at WDW trying to cram in a last minute vacation? When would you choose?

The last week/ week and a half in August has worked out well for me in the past. I'm not at all confident in speculating on the merits these days as to park hours. I think the crowds will be at their lowest for summer vacation visitors, but this is well known, and Disney has needed to to be agressive in watching expenses... in short, expect less crowding, but not longer hours. Only time will tell, but relying on past history is not wise... many things changed with 9/11.... I think the biggest threat to a vacation in late summer are hurricanes... peak is Sept. 10.
