I have a little Nikon Coolpix 775 that I love and have been using for years. It takes amazing pictures for such a small, no-frills camera. However, I feel it's time to upgrade and after much research on-line I have pretty much narrowed it down to the Kodak Easyshare Z712 IS or the Canon Powershot A720 IS. I'm leaning towards the Kodak because of the 12x optical zoom; I take lots of nature photos and use a zoom quite a bit.

Those two cameras are within my budget and offer what I'm looking for in my next upgrade. They are also still compact enough to tote around Disney...!:goodvibes

Anyone here familiar with these that can offer pros/cons either way? Just looking for a little "real life" experience!

Hello,

I'm far from being a pro, but I just bought the Canon sx100 with a 10x zoom, I only had 3x zoom on my Canon SD450 and I think it's a big difference. I love the new zoom I have.

Have you read the reviews at Cnet? I like that site for reviews. I thought that I read that the Kodak z712 wasn't rated as highly as other cameras, but don't quote me on that. ;)

Hi neighbor! (I'm in NH :goodvibes ).

WOW! That's some difference with the zooms! Nice shots. Yes, I've read Cnet, that's actually where I started with my research! They gave the Kodak pretty good remarks, and I read somewhere else that that particular model won best-in-class. I've seen others with certain features that were better, but their zooms were 6x at best. So, I'm still weighing my options.

So I guess I know what you'll be doing this Sunday!!

GO PATS!!!!!!!!!!! :thumbsup2

I read so many reviews that I'm probably mixing up cameras. ;) I definately think that the larger zoom is worth it and you'll love that feature.

Oh, are the Pat's playing this weekend? :cheer2: :cheer2: My husband is so excited for it, it's all he talks about.
