Not so good here. Went to the doctor this morning and found out I have "Walking Pneumonia." My temp is around 101 and I feel crummy overall. Came home from the pharmacy with an antibiotic, some cough syrup and an inhaler. (never used one of those before) Used all three and laid down for a nap. Feeling somewhat rested now, but still feel hot.
Julie, thanks for starting this up for us!:woohoo:
We have a new home!! :dance3: :dance3: I've missed checking in with everyone.
Mary, sorry you are under the weather. I needed an inhaler when I had the flu a couple years back. It does help some. I hope you are feeling better really soon.
I hope everyone else finds us! :chat:

Mary - Sorry to hear you are under the weather ... I have been fighting a bug for a month now but now I am out of "extra" anti biotics and will see if I beat the bug for good.
Gail - congrats on your new endeavor - exciting. :woohoo:
Julie - we need to see updates on the baby bump! :cloud9:
Off to finish my 2 books... pictures have printed and they are not going to cut and jump in by themselves.

Found you guys!
Mary, hope you feel better soon.
Not much new here---except we're cruising in less than two weeks now!! :cool1: It's just not the same without you guys, but I'm sure we'll have fun!
Diana, I'm sure I won't have to twist your arm to have a konk kooler or three for me while your at CC.
Two weeks, it's coming fast now.
We are back to the deep freeze in our neck of the woods. Our windchill this morning is -16  :cold: It's probably headed towards Michigan now, so barrel down those hatches. I would venture to guess that Steve & Coleen had it much worse that we did up here - we had warning all day yesterday that didn't amount to much. Looks like the kids will be having school today -- much to their disappointment. Not that they have room to complain, it's a scheduled half day anyway.
Walker started playing hockey a couple weeks back. Now it seems that every free moment we have is spent on the ice. Even being indoors, it's like a freezer in there. I'm sure if he continues, come July, I'll appreciate the temp inside the arena.

Our winds started last night about 10 or so. All night long I waited to see if any house parts were going to fly past the window. I think the wind chill here is only -9, so we have a heat wave compared to Chicago! No snow though. I guess the next batch of snow is expected in Thursday night.
Diana, Two weeks until cruising - I would be excited too! I'm sure you'll have a great time even without us. I would tell you to have a KK for me too, but I'm sure you'll have enough on your own ;)

I wish I was going cruising in two weeks! I know a day at CC would lick this pneumonia for sure! Have a great time Diana!
I am feeling some better today. Actually got a little sleep last night. Here's hoping I'm on the road to recovery! I told Ken I feel absolutely decadent today...I would ordinarily be at work by now, but I'm still at home in my PJ's!

Mary - glad to hear you are feeling better!
Baby news is all good here - we have a big level II ultrasound on Friday and a bunch of OB appts so we can make sure all is well with the baby. I'm actually starting to feel better... luckily for me Karen lit a candle on the full moon and I think it worked!!! I asked her to light another one for heartburn :) in hopes that would go away next.
I wish we were cruising in 2 weeks... in fact I need to change my siggy since we can't do the repo  this year.
Glad to see everyone checking in!

Yea a new thread to call our own!!!
I know I have been kind of MIA lately. Well we are moved in (still unpacking) but we are in. We have been busy with painting and doing some furniture shopping. By spring I think we will have everthing pretty much in place, then we will start on the outside.
We had to paint Nick's room first thing since it was lavender with white polka dots (he wasn't keen with that). It's now 2 shades of blue since there was chair railing we did the bottom a darker blue then the top. This weekend we are pianting the dining room and maybe Nick's bathroom. Seems like it never ends!!!
Julie - Thanks for giving us a new home. I'm so glad things are going well with Baby Totten.
Mary - Bummer that you are under the weather. Follow doctors orders and get better soon!!!
Gail - Congrats on the new job! I hope you truly enjoy it!.
Cindy - Have fun at those hockey games. If you need to talk hockey you should talk to my Dad ha is a fan and plays once a week during the season!
Diana - you stink! No not really, I wish I was joining you on that cruise! And ditto what Cindy said!!

Sounds like you're moving right along with the new house Stacy. It's nice with it being winter you can concentrate on the inside.
We want to see pictures!
Mary, I hope tomorrow has you feeling even better. pixiedust:
Julie, are those level II ultrasounds the ones where the babies skeleton is shown and all? We never had one with our boys, I don't think the technology was there even 8 years ago when I was pregnant with Walker (gosh was it 8 year already? Hey, now that I think about it, I think 8 years ago tonight I spent the night in the hospital because my blood pressure sky rocketed after sitting in the doctors office waiting room for 3 hours). I've seen them and they are amazing. Just think, Julie, you might be giving up the repo cruise this year, but life as you know it will be changing.....alot. :)
I'll have to talk to Karen about lighting a candle on the full moon. I wonder if it helps with job hunting, because if Gary doesn't get something soon, I'm going to be moving out. It's hard because it's not like I can go to work myself, my work comes here daily. And just to add to the fun, there has been a lot of stress in the daycare these days.
Tina, welcome back home. I suspect this will be our permanent home until it gets too big.
Stacy, good to hear your settling in. I'm not surprised that Nick's lavender bedroom was the first project. Have fun doing the rest of the decorating, Gail is right, winter is the perfect time.

Hello everyone from WDW!!! It's been a great week of RnR - mostly just visiting the parks when we want to and running into a few people we know - one of Karen's friends has been down here since Jan 3rd - can you imagine that? I can only dream...
Thanks Gail for the link!
Not looking forward to heading home to reality on Friday but it should be a short visit home since I am supposed to go out to Cali in mid-Feb - we shall see if I keep those plans going along. Also have a cruise scheduled for March (another non-Disney - please don't tell Mickey!) with friends again!
Going back to relaxing - one more visit to the Castle tomorrow.
Hope everyone's feeling better soon and keeping warm in that nasty weather up north.

You might want to look into extending your stay by another day. There's some big storm heading our way, snow is suppose to start tonight and continue into Friday. They're predicting 6-10" of snow with the heaviest between 6 am and noon on Friday. Of course on Saturday it's suppose to be in the 40's so hopefully the snow doesn't stick around too long.
Enjoy the rest of your trip!

that you are reminded of on a daily basis??
I can remember going to Grandma and Grandpa house and hearing the old kitchen clock chime. It was my maternal great-grandparents wedding clock from 1898. It had to be wound every Saturday night. After they moved in with my parents the clock slowly began to lose time and not chime right and they finally quit winding it. When grandma went to the nursing home my mom gave it to me since I had always wanted it. We had it repaired and Coleen is wonderful about winding when it needs it. Each time I hear it chime I smile and remember my grandparents and my mom.
This past monday would have been grandma's 100th birthday and it was also the 7th anniversary of my mom's passing. I think the chimes keep their memory close to my heart.
I know this doesnt have much to do with our cruise I just though I would share it with all my buddies here on the Dis :grouphug:

Oh Steve!! That is just too sweet!!!
One of my favorite childhood memories is of my grandpa!! I had two cousins within a year of me, so all 3 of us girls used to go to grandma & grandpa's house to spend the night once in a while. And, after we had a bath at night, my grandpa used to take iodine in a dropper and draw faces on our bellies - silly faces, happy faces, etc. And, because it was iodine, it kinda "stained" our bellies for a few days after our trip to grandpa's house. I still get a kick out of it!
And, when I was older, he used to sit with me and show me pictures of his WWII days in the Army. What a cool memory!!
Sadly, he passed away when I was in college, but thankfully, I was able to fly home to Chicago from Florida for his funeral. I don't know if I would have been happy if I couldn't have gone home.
Thanks for letting me bring back some happy memories that I hadn't thought of in a while!!!:cloud9:

Okay, pass the kleenex! :grouphug:
I have so many fond childhood memories. Sometime around the time my dad passed away when I was 18, our family changed dramatically. Up until then, we were very close and spent most weekends together, even after my older brothers & sisters were married. They just brought their kids with then, who were closer to my age anyway. It was actually a lot of fun and I wish we hadn't lost that closeness.
One of my favorites is the winter my dad decided to make a ice skating rink in our back yard. Somehow he encaged it and filled it with water so that we were able to have our own figure skating championship going on. I can remember my dad sitting at the kitchen table on Sunday mornings watching up do our twirls -- which weren't much of twirling at all. :rotfl2: Not once did he comment about our lack of skills.
I never had any grandparents - they all passed away long before I was born. I have always felt that I missed out a lot of special memories because of that.
Speaking of ice skating, it is now Walker's passion. In fact, tonight he invited his little special friend to join us at free skating. Walker is looking forward to holding her hand as they skate. :lovestruc :lovestruc :lovestruc :lovestruc I am so not ready for this. They are only 7!!! :lmao: Good thing I get to be the driver so I can keep my eyes close on them.
Our schools are closed today. Gary said there is about 8" of snow out there. I think this is only the 3rd time in the 8 years Cameron has been in public school that they have closed. It's going to be a super long day around here with the craziness of my house as I'm sure my daycare kids will be here along with my entire family. :headache: Wish us luck!
Kay, I wish I was on that cruise next Sunday as well. I'm sure you will have a great time along with Tina & Diana.

Steve that is so wonderful that you have those memories!
I have memories of my grandfather...He owned an autobody shop, and we would go and visit alot! He was always giving us change to buy a soda and candy from the vending machines in the shop! My mom used to complain at him for all the sugar, but we kept going back, so I know she didnt mind it! He also was the one who made sure we had the latest video games that came out! I remember before my sister and I were even old enough to play, he bought us Atari! Then it was Nintendo, and the ones that came after that one. He was also the most giving person. If he knew you needed something, you'd have it no matter if it was his last dollar or not! He passed 2 years ago this month, and its still hard to believe hes gone at times. Just don't forget, is what I keep in mind, I know as long as I have he memories and share them with the kids he will live on.
How are you doing with the snow? We have about 9 inches here! No school for the girls! Good because I dont think my car would make it out of the driveway! Snow is too deep!

I guess working in a hospital, it's rather difficult to roll over and go back to sleep on mornings like yesterday. One of my daycare Mom's is a nurse and works downtown. I believe she left the house at 4 a.m. yesterday morning. She told me everyone on the highway was making their own lanes. Scary, scary stuff.

We lucked out with the snow. We only ended up with about 3 or 4". Most of the schools were closing before the snow started falling. Unlucky for Deanna our district and the one next to us didn't close. I bet the other school districts feel stupid closing on the advice of the weather man :thumbsup2 It's not like the weatherman is usually right about these things.

There are several Lane Bryants in our area that are closing, including the one at Woodfield Mall. I wonder if this is somehow related to someone losing a job or something? Such a sad and tragic event.

One more thing---we went to see the Hannah Montana 3-D movie today. It was really good, but not as good as the real concert. Before the movie they showed a preview for Journey to the Center of the Earth 3D. I'm totaly not an action/adventure movie gal, but this movie looks awesome!! I'm seriously amazed by the technology because there are no cheap 3D shots like in Muppets or HISTA, the way it flows with the movie is absolutely amazing. I can't wait to see it.

Heard about the Lane bryant shooting, I am still in shock about it! We shop and have dinner in Tinley about 2 times a month. I cant believe what people are capable of. I feel for the families of the victims....It just makes me think it coule of been me, I've never been in that particular store, but I shop Lane Bryant all the time. It could of been anyone of us! Very sad story!
I am at home today with a touch of the flu. I woke up dizzy, nauseous, and with a pounding headache. I went to work and lasted about an hour and then went home. I took some tylenol and slept, and feel much better! Hopefully it stays like that!

Okay - ready to post some news - I went to see a specialist this morning to find out why I'm having such a rough winter this year - I've been diagnosed with Fibromyalgia on top of my RA and RSD - not a fun name much less to live with it is a bit on the rough side - but I guess it explains alot of my yuck this winter.
Hmmmm - the phone calls I got when I started my vacation - seems I landed at MCO and got a call from my dd - seems like I'll be asking Diana to make more diaper cakes - seems as tho Christopher is expecting a new arrival at his house in September if all goes well. Then later in the week as I am leaving MK for the last day of my vacation - I get another call from dd - she tells me she just saw the dr and she is freaking out - the dr has found out why she is having much more morning sickness this time around - she's expecting 2 little ones - a big surprise to all of us!!!!

Ok so now we have an answer on our old thread...
Sorry for the delay on this, we had to have a piece of software custom written to cut up the existing long threads.
We have also decided how to handle long threads moving forward:
1. Threads will be closed at 250 pages (3750 posts)
2. Any existing thread over 250 pages will be locked as is.
3. The really long threads that were removed will come back over the next week or so. I have to shut the boards down to cut them up so I will try to do it during "off hours". We are also trying index them so people will be able to reference them.
I hope everyone is enjoying the much faster boards!

Mary sorry to hear of your health problems. Hopefully now they can treat your ailment and get you some relief. Congrats on the twins. TWICE the new babies to spoil.
Julie how about getting a Smee shirt and let your "baby bump" peek out like his tummy did.
Tina I hope you feel better soon too!
Speaking of spoiling, I called Coleen today and we happened to think it was time to make ADR's for July. SO she calls and even though we are three weeks PAST the first day we could call she got a reservation for 6 at Cindys Palace for breakfast. Our little princesses will be so pleased.

Mary...Congratulations to your DD on the twins! As a mother of twin myself, I know that she is bound to hear sooner or later the same thing that I heard...Twins! That's double trouble!! When she does, tell her to do what I did....smile and say...No, it's twice as nice!
Looking back on the days when my girls were babies/toddlers, I wouldn't have changed a thing!:)

Hi all!!
Well we got some more things done on the house. We painted the dining room a merlot color this weekend. It looks good if I do say so myself!
I'm a little late on replying to some of the news but the shooting in IL was just horrible. I agree with everyone in asking "what is wrong with people these days". We had a triple homicide in Albany just last week (about 15 miles from my house) one of the victims was 15 years old. Just so unreal.
Ok on to something happy now.
Mary - What great news!!! Twins! Looks like Grandma Mary is going to have her hands full with all the grand babies!
Julie - for a pirate Tee did you try Mike's? The last time I was there they had an iron on's of the jolly roger and one was the jeweled/rhinestone kind similar to what you wore on the last member cruise.
Now for a nice childhood memory.......one of the the ones I like brings me back to simplier times. Sleeping ove grandma's house on a Saturday night and getting up on sunday to go to church, stop at Mike's corner store for the paper then hitting the bakery down the block for bread and my chocolate glazed donut. We would bring out loot home and while Grandma was making the pasta for the big family lunch I would read the comics while eating my donut than couldn't wait for Abbot & Costello to come on the TV.
Those were the days!
I'll get some pics posted soon, once I get them off the camera!

Hope that anyone in the path of the wicked bad storms are okay tonite - stay safe!
What storm????? All day long they predicted it was going to be bad. I just checked outside, a dusting of snow. :headache: Check email and find out that my kids school district is the only one closed in the area. :sad2:  We don't have built in snow days to our school calendar. I can understand Friday when they were closed, but not today. Now the kids have to make it up at the end of the school year.
What am I going to do with them all day long? :scared1: To add to the fun, tomorrow is a 1/2 day & Friday is a day off of school.
Tina, are you leaving today for the cruise? I received the CJ and I'll get them done. Have fun. Diana, you too, it's coming quick now. :thumbsup2

Tina---See you on Sunday!! :drinking1 You should be able to see the shuttle launch. It's scheduled for thurs but as NASA's luck would have it, Thurs is the only day in 2 weeks where it's supposed to be rainy, so maybe Friday or Saturday.
Mary---Congrats on the baby news! That's pretty exciting. I always wanted twins, and then I got my Irish twins. :lovestruc
We leave on Saturday, after cheerleading and Soccer tryouts. We're heading to Epcot for the day and then spending the night out at the port.

Hockey is at 3 and there is no way I can talk Walker out of missing that. Basketball he will give up, but not hockey. In fact, he could probably stay home with Cameron as I doubt Cameron's going to be joining us.
I wanted to ask, are you doing wine tasting at Lynfred? I've heard good things about them.
I'm not exactly sure that we'll be able to do everything. What time is the thing at Woodfield again? We're you planning on hanging out at the mall once that was over or just heading on to lunch?
We do have someone coming at 10 to pick something up but I could probably move that a little earlier if it conflicts.

Where the heck did all this snow come from??? :confused3
This morning there was a lot of slush and was lightly snowing. It has snowed all day and about 3 PM it started coming down really heavy. It took John 3 hours to make a 1 hour drive home. Him and the guy across the street plowed out all the driveways around our house. On the 6 PM news they said we were suppose to get 3-6" of snow, we have 6" already and it's still snowing.
Deanna and her friends are texting and IMing like crazy - I think they are hoping for a snow day tomorrow.
How much longer until Spring????

It finally stopped snowing here about 7 p.m. We got a significant amount - a much different picture than this morning when I wondered just why my kids had a snow day.
I know they are hoping to have another one tomorrow. As it is, it's conference tomorrow night so they only have 1/2 a day anyway. But, I know it would be a headache for everyone to have those conferences rescheduled and with a night of plowing & salting, I'll be surprised if they have another snow day tomorrow.
Deanna & her friends might be in luck though. :wizard:

Another snow day here. I guess the ritual of putting a spoon under the pillow and wear your pajama's backward worked for the kids. Don't ask, Deanna said it was something the teachers told them :confused3 I'm glad they are learning the important things in school ;)
We have about another 2" since we plowed out last night. The bad part is the slushy stuff from yesterday is now frozen so there's ice under the snow.
67º, yes you guys should drag out your parka's! You guys have 1 week to get rid of the cold spell, I'm looking forward to at least 75º while I'm down there.

Well, up until Sunday, it's still supposed to be in the 70s. And, Diana's right, it was up near and into the low 80s the last few days. THIS is the reason that I live in Florida! I don't miss snow, AT ALL!!!
Yes, I'm home from work today. Poor Emily is sick. She woke up this morning kinda quiet, and right before we were supposed to leave for school, she got sick. So, she's resting on the couch and looks SO pale. She's actually running an opposite fever. Her temp is low right now (down in the 94/95 range). Poor thing!
We have to leave in a few minutes to pick up my mom from the airport, then back home to rest for Emily. I just feel bad that she's so sick right now.

Hello !!!!
We have not had any of that white stuff (except the dusting this am) this week. Rich was going to Minneapolis on Monday and was supposed to leave the airport at 8 am - THANKS to O'HARE as his connecting point he did not leave until after noon and then got stuck there until 9 pm. I had issues with O'HARE 2 weeks ago too!... note to self - do not fly through Chicago unless it is your destination.
Mary congrats on the twin grandbabies.... boy this is a busy year for you.
Stacy - how many coats of paint did you have to use to get that deep red just right. I painted my "too be scrap room" a raspberry red 3 coats later and it still needs another coat or 2.
Cindy - Walker is too young for dates
Diana and Amy - please express mail some of that warm weather this way. I am really over winter right now.
We are supposed to go to Destin for Spring Break but I really do not want to go. I am in panic mode over the PC cruise and the bill at the end of the trip. Thank god we are getting that tax rebate....
I took today off because Nick has a half day - plans were for us to go to lunch and then go to 2 pounds and look for a puppy. Those plans got AXED - when I picked Nick up his teacher asked to see me. Seems Nick only had a brief period ( a week or two ) of behaving well in class - just before report cards came out. This year he cant seem to shut up in class. Of course he blames it on the girl he sits next to. So now we are home - I made lunch and he is writing his little hands off - I will not talk in class. Of course the first time he started writing it was a letter to his teacher - I crumpled that up. We have been there done that. The he wrote a page of I will not talk in school. Of course being the mean old MOM that I am - made him start all over again because that is not what I said. The teacher did not even grade a paper today because the directions stated to underline the answer and he circled them. F. I am soooo ticked.
Does any one have any words of wisdom of how the heck I can get this kid to shut his trap. (see frustration) I am ready to tell his teacher to send him to the Principals office next time.
Thanks for reading this rant.. any suggestions will be well received.

Hey Steve - I thought of you the other day. We were over at Hooters having lunch last week and saw that they are having a promotion similar to the one for their 20th anniversary. If you visit 25 Hooters and get a stamp between now and the end of the year, you get a 200 wing party certificate. We did it for the 20th anniversary (only had to visit 20 Hooters), and we ended up with 2 parties. We picked up our little "passports" to start our little adventure!!

That's awesome, Steve! We picked up 4 passports (Chris didn't realize that the girls weren't "eligible"). But we figured that we'd give them to a couple of friends. Lucky for us, central FL is filled with Hooters restaurants, so hopefully we'll be done soon.

I'm wondering if Nick has a case of puppy love as well? :lovestruc Being he's spending his days talking to the girl next to him in class. Maybe you could suggest to the teacher to put him next to the most quiet kid in class, one who won't talk back to him? Maybe he'll get bored and focus a little better on his schoolwork?
I also think a visit to the principals office might not be a bad idea so the principal can help Nick get his priorities back on track.
Our school has something called "lunch club". I think it's only designed for kids who don't do their homework - instead of going out for recess, they go to lunch club so that they can complete their assignments. Walker tells me that it's sometimes used to write a punishment. Does Nick's school do anything comperable?
I'm sorry your having a tough time of it.

We will meet you at Hooters at noon. If that changes, just let me know. I have to confess - we've never been to Hooters before althought I've heard about it from Gail & Amy. I tosed out the original card we received about the doings going on at the mall that morning, so I'm no help as to what time it's planned to take place. I tried to skim the DVC Board and didn't see it listed there either - just the events which required registration for Sunday, Monday & Tuesday.
The wine warehouse looks like a pretty straight shot down Higgins. I'm sure it won't be that difficult to find. We'll probably pass on that as it would look really bad for us to take Walker to hockey feeling no pain.
It was so much easier to coordinate getting together when I thought my family was out of town this coming weekend. That will teach me to confuse which weekends we're doing what.

I do not think it is puppy love... right now this kid would talk to the wall if people did not think he was crazy. Super Bowl night it would just sit there and and talk talk talk... repeating everything we all just watched on tv. UUGGHH.... I think I will make the recommedation to go to the office. Maybe that will be humiliating enough. I also thought about putting masking tape on the ends of his sleeves that say SHHHHHH & QUIET. and maybe one for his desk that says PAY ATTENTION.
Off to basketball. his scheduled sporting events will be his only FUN time for a week.

I wish there was some magic words to give you Erin concerning Nick and his constant talking in class. I can feel for you, I was/am there with Deanna. Now I know it's a shock that Deanna would be one to always talk in class :lmao: but she does. I've even threatened to spend the day with her at school to see why she can't quit socializing.
Well now its about time you went then! You dont know what you are missing.
I will pm you our cell numbers. Of course you will have to pose for the obligatory FIRST TIME pics but you will survive.
You dont have to drink LOTS at the tasting, but if you want to pass thats okay. We have no time schedule so we can take our time at HOOTERS.
I think I love your mom Amy! The Chicagoland HOOTERS are owned by the Original group too. But the ones just over the line in Indiana are franchises.
We will have to make it to Clearwater one of these days to go to the first one.
I want to go to Hooters! It's been awhile since we've been. Maybe we'll go this weekend and pretend we're with you guys
Tell John we can exchange pics and it will be just like we are there with you!

Erin - is it possible that he's bored in class. I had quite a few problems with one of my boys in school when he was young and found out that was the problem - good luck.
Diana, have a great time on the cruise! :sail:

Have a great time Diana!!!
Steve & Coleen - we had a wonderful lunch and afternoon. It was nice to sit and chat to catch up on things. Let's do it again some times. :thumbsup2 I hope you enjoy your rubber ducky! :rotfl2:
I hope you found the wine tasting warehouse and enjoyed your samples.
After lunch we headed over to Woodfield. The mall was absolutely crazy with people. We took a tour AKL model and pick up a few pairs of Mickey ears.
Then Walker realized we were 40 minutes before hockey practice and he started getting more and more anxious to get there. Walker's big news is on Tuesday he's moving up to the advanced class. He's beyond estatic as that's one step closer to being put on an official team.

Too funny, Gail. Did Steve tell you that Gary got goosed? :rotfl: :rotfl2: :rotfl:
Hooters was good. We don't normally eat wings, so Gary had a burger, I had the philly cheese steak and Walker ordered a hot dog, which he never took a bite of because he decided to have some of Steve & Coleen's HOT wings. The curly fries were good too. Gary ordered a buffalo calimari appetizer which him & Steve ate.
We'll be back. Walker has already rubbed it into Cameron what he missed out on -- not the girls, but the wings. ;)
We were surprised by the crowd that frequents Hooters. It was packed on the way out with people waiting to be seated. I guess it's a popular place.

We had a wonderful time seeing Cindy, Gary and Walker. Cameron missed out.
We enjoyed the time immensely! The DVC place was very cool Walker did the tour for us. He knew as much as the girl working there :rotfl:
Afterwards we went to the Wine sale got a couple bargains and our slesman threw in a $50 bottle for free. Apparently we buy a LOT of wine:confused3
Then since we were only a few miles from Downers Grove we stopped there and at HOOTERS too. Just about 1/3 of the way to our two free, 200 wing parties.
After that we stopped at one of their Fire Stations to visit a friend and then came home.
Looking forward to our next adventure!

We had wings tonight, but they came from the pizza place. Ok, not as good as Hooters but they'll do in a pinch. We were out shopping for shorts and a bathing suit for Deanna and then remembered she had to go babysit in 45 minutes so we rushed home and just ordered pizza and wings.

We had an awful day Saturday. After soccer we got a call from my father in law. Our dear dalmatian (who has lived with him for 2 1/2 years because Grandpa gives lots of snacks and attention) was not able to stand up and was vomiting blood. We knew her days were getting numbered her back hips have been getting weaker and weaker. We went to his house to pick her up and take her to the animal hospital. The vet checked her out and felt a very large mass in her abdomen - he suspected a tumor. Kelsey was 12 1/2 years old and we knew the only decision was to let her go. She was not in any visable pain. Her poor old body just gave out. We lost a great friend (even if she was a blockhead). I know she is in a much better place - chasing squirrels and romping in the green grass and swimming in clear ponds. Kelsey was a great companion for my father in law. She made sure he got out of the house and they WALKED and WALKED. We now are worried about him. He needs companionship. Today everyone is doing much better.
It was COLD here today and they just cancelled school for tomorrow. Nick totally missed his school being shown on the bottom of the TV screen.... Rich gets to stay home with him. He can work from home - lucky dog.
Maybe work will be closed tomorrow as well? one can hope. :confused3
Good night all! May everyone have a wonderful week.

Erin, so sorry to hear about your dog! Are you guys going to get your fil another dog? It sounds like it would be good for him to have one.
Deanna was asking if they were going to close schools tomorrow. The only time I remember my other kids getting a day off was when the wind chills were reaching the -50º mark. Not sure of the actual temps for tonight and tomorrow but I heard the wind chills are suppose to be -25 or so.

OH, I was on the computer this morning and realized Diana was logged into her IM. I asked her what they were doing and she said they were still in the terminal and that Good Morning America was taping there. GMA was not on at the time here today but I wonder if they will have something on their show tomorrow of what they taped today.

The temps dropped continously all day yesterday and the wind was blowing all day. Today they called off school, a bit surprised but I'm sure it has to do with the fact that they can't control what parents would send a child to school dressed in and a few minutes outside waiting for a bus in this weather is dangerous.
Tomorrow is suppose to be a heat wave of 24º. :rotfl:

So, what a whirlwind week it has been here!!
We have been SO obsessed lately with practice for Emily's cheer stuff for the past week, that I haven't done much of anything else! Then, my mom came to down for a few days, we went to Disney, and on top of that Emily and Madison were both sick. But, it's all good now!
And, on a good note, Emily's team took home 2nd place in their division at their competition at the FL state fair in Tampa on Saturday. I'll have to get some pictures up, after I get them downloaded from the camera.
Then, we took my mom and the girls to Orlando and saw the Hannah Montana 3D movie at Downtown Disney and spent the night at VWL. Then, we got up Sunday morning and headed to MK. Just for kicks, Chris went to ask at City Hall, and he was able to be the Veteran of the Day. That's where they do the Flag Retreat on Main St at 5pm. Chris got to help, then we marched in a little parade down Main St with the band, security (or whatever they were) and the Dapper Dans. It was really cool.
Then, poor Madison came down with a fever and we left about 7pm to head back home. She's been home from school for the past couple of days, and seems to have finally gotten rid of the fever. So, she'll be excited to go back to school in the morning!!!
So, how's everyone else???

We're back. We got back on Thursday afternoon to no internet and phone. Needless to say, it's now SUNDAY and we still don't have internet and phone. I had to go to Panera just to check in!!
The cruise was great. I actually feel terrible for the family who "won" the prize because they probably had the worst time out of everyone on the ship. We dropped them off on Tuesday morning at about 7am. They sent a tender out for them. We continued the day at sea. It was chilly and rainy and very very windy. Who knows what they did on the beach all day. They spent the night out on a yacht apparently. That night we had Gale force winds of about 60mph. I felt so bad for them. When we came into CC on Wed morning, we tried to dock and couldn't because of the winds. Capt John tried again about an hour later and was able to. We watched out our window and the poor yacht was just bouncing around. The tugboat that was pushing us in was even having a hard time. The wind on CC was just insane. We found the adult beach to be much calmer and spent a lot of time there. Of course the several Konk koolers helped make the day more fun.
I'll post more when we get our service back. I've had it with the stupid cable company.

Checking in. We got on the road about 11PM Thursday night. We arrived at Carol's on Friday about 5:30 PM. No bad weather and only 1 tie up on the road in Georgia. Someone rolled their RV so traffic was stopped for about a 1/2 hour.
The weather has been wonderful the past two days. Today we went over to the beach. Deanna's friend has never been to the ocean. Of course the water was cold but that didn't stop the northerners.
Tuesday we leave Jacksonville for WDW. Carol & Joe and my mom are coming with us. We'll stay until Saturdy morning when we'll have to leave to come home.
I'll try and check in when I can.

Hi everyone, sorry it took so long to post, but things have been a little busy, we got back late Friday, early Saturday, and I had to work yesterday at 8 am. Needless to say, I had a lot of things piled up at work and checked very little mail and internet personal stuff.
The 3 night cruise was great we had good weather, the shuttle launch was a once in a lifetime moment...I doubt we'd ever have the opportunity to see it from deck 9 aboard one of the Disney ships again. I had seen a launch before but from a distance, we were just outside of Orlando last summer when it launched. I have some pics that I will download and post in a few days. We (the 9 of us, Tim, me, the 3 girls, my parents, Tim's dad and grandma) all agreed how amazing watching the launch from the ship was! We had a great cruise with the exception of our dining room servers. They were not very Disney like, and very unfriendly. I asked for a plate of plain noodles for Lauren, and my salad without dressing and you would have thought I'd asked her to bring me a plate of gold bars. She told me I was going to get just lettuce, without the dressing, I was like thats fine I really dislike dressing, and always eat my salad like that. Then she told me that she cant get me noodles plain because they arent on the menu. I wasnt up for problems, so I went ahead and ordered her chicken fingers which went in th garbage because she didnt want them. We waited over 30 min for drink refills and a cup of tea for my mom. My parents thought she was rude to them, so we took a group vote and decided no more dinner with her for us. We skipped the dining room for the next 2 nights. On the 3rd and final night of the cruise our dining room head server Simone came to our room (they were having phone issues, and our phone wasnt ringing through, it said our room was unoccupied) and asked why we were not at dinner for the last 2 evenings, after we told him the problem, he offered to bring us dinner for 9 to our room from anywhere we wanted it. We told him to bring us menus for whatever dining room we should have eaten in that evening. He brought us menus from Tritons, and we ordered. He then offered Tim and I Palo's reservations and the choice of our dining rotation for our next cruise. We asked for early seating and anyone but our current server. No Palo's, (I'm very picky and just didnt care for the food there). We ended up eating at Palo's with a friend, but I knew how bad Tim wanted to eat there.
The 4 night cruise the weather was ok, very windy and high waves on the 3 and 4th nights. I felt very sorry for the GMA family as they had bad weather at CC, it was rainy, high winds, and waves for them. They stayed overnight in a yacht, and I'm sure they werent feeling so hot the next day. The ship was moving alot, so I'm sure the yacht was bouncing. As Diana said we had trouble getting into CC, a tugboat came and helped us pull in. The family beach was very windy and had lots of waves and seaweed. Serenity Bay was beautiful, not much wind, very little waves, and few people. We really enjoyed having no kids with us for this cruise! We were able to enjoy the adult beach and not feel guilty about the kids being in the club. The last night of the cruise was bad for me, I thought I was going to be sick, so I went back to the stateroom and laid down. After laying down I couldnt feel the ship move as much, and I felt much better, but was afraid to get up! I didnt want to be sick.
We stayed one night at AKV, and did the Keys to the Kingdom tour at MK. This was a very good tour. We really enjoyed the history behind MK and learned quite a bit that we didnt know!
Overall we had a very enjoyable trip! My parents fell in love with cruising, and Disney! They cant wait to become DVC members! They are looking into buying very soon!
Julie, You look wonderful! Glad everythng is going well for you and Matt and the little one!
Gail and John...Have a safe and fun trip! Enjoy a few drinks for us!
Hope everyone had a great weekend!

I agree. The girls wanted to do the Water fun at the club, so we went over to Serenity Bay and I didn't want to leave. It was amazing the difference between the Family beach side and there. It was like a different world. AND we got to watch Johnny without the Sprites float around! :rotfl:
I have to say our Asst Server was pretty terrible too, except on the last night, coincidentally enough, the night the tips get handed out. The first night she brought Julia's lemonade in a glass filled to the top. Like the same glass you'd hand me. Uh---she's 3. I get having them feel like big kids---but she's 3 and that's a big glass. We never got refills without asking any night and most nights my glass sat empty 3/4 of the time we were eating.
And that last night was the worst seas I've sailed in. At breakfast the last morning this kid at the next table looked out the window and said---WOW, we really didn't tip over last night, i thought for sure we did. :scared1:
But we're sad we're home and can't wait to cruise again in December.

I'll try to catch up here this morning!
Cindy/Steve the Hooters meet sounded like a lot of fun. I've yet to go to a Hooters but there's a million down here, and hanging with Amy and Chris, I'm sure our time will come soon.
Gail--have a great trip!!
Julie--you look awesome!!
Erin--I'm so sorry for your loss. I hope Kelsey is running around up there with Penny pain-free and happy. They sound a lot alike. Just hold on to those good memories. We talk about Penny all the time here. Unfortunately, the only thing Emma remembers about her is jumping on the kitchen table to steal the waffles off her plate. :rotfl: Silly dog could barely walk, yet she could climb up there to grab food.

Happy Birthday Walker!!party:
Tina & Diana, it sounds like you had fun, despite the weather and a few other things not cooperating.
Tina, we did the Keys to the Kingdom tour last winter and loved it. I can't wait for Gary to have a chance to do it as well as Cameron when he's old enough. Heck, I just might have to do it again. We did the behind the Magic of the Steam Trains in October. Cameron loved, loved, loved it and is waiting to do it again.
Thanks for the birthday wishes for Walker. We're having a party with his friends in a couple of weeks. I couldn't find an ice skating party so he settled for a roller blading party. Last night we had cake & trick candles. I thought Walker was going to set the house on fire trying to get those candles to go out. Good thing there were only 8 of them on the cake or that just might have happened.
Today is a mail holiday, Steve, I'm sending the CJ's tomorrow.

Ok, so I've finally uploaded the pictures of what we've been up to lately.
Emily's team competed in their first competition of the year at the FL State Fair last Saturday.

Yep, that's her in the back, on top.
http://i49.photobucket.com/albums/f267/alikat99/NEBStateFair2.jpg
Yep, on top again. They call this a flatback. Emily thinks it's funny that she gets to look at the sky. :scared1:

Ok all you croc wearing friends... I'm finding that my crocs are most comfy right now (too bad I can't wear them to work :rotfl: )... what styles do you recommend and which ones should we avoid?
I love my mickey beach crocs - so much I ordered a 2nd pair same as the first ;) .
Amy, seing Emily so high mst put your stomach in your throat. Cool pictures but I'd be a nerveous wreck!
Julie, have you looked at the mary jane crocs? I have a friend who wears them for work as they are a lot more dressy. Would those work for you?
I have the mammoth, beach and athens. I'm sure none of them are suitable for an office environment.
I do love the athens. As much as I love them, I did developed an inflamed nerve - whether that's related to them or not, I'll never really know although the foot doctor thinks it could be. Maybe it wouldn't have been as bad if I didn't wait 4-5 months to get it taken care of. That doesn't mean I'm stopping wearing my crocs, but I will alternate between them and my gym shoes with my new arch supports. :sad2:
After Cameron was born, my feet were so swollen the only thing I could wear were slippers. I remember wearing them in public - on the way to the hospital to see Cameron. I'm sure I got more than a couple of looks, but nothing else fit. I was very glad when the swelling went down and I could at least get something else on my feet.

Uh, YES, I do get very nervous. I'm not so nervous at practice, I don't know why. But, when they are at the competitions, I feel sick to my stomach until it's over. And I'm not sure why, because they have spotters, but it just makes me so nervous!! But, she loves it, so what's a mom to do! :confused3
Julie - I wear my mary jane crocs all the time, and I love them. They are a little less casual, but still comfy. And, I did see my neighbor the other day in a pair of the primas, and they looked like regular flats. So, they were cute too.
Cindy - I'm noticing some problems with my feet a bit too. But, I think that mine is heel spurs. I probably should go to the doctor to have it looked at, but I've been so busy. I'll have to call this week and make an appt.

I can say I did not like the Scutes or the Mary Janes (sorry, Amy!) I didn't like the strap on the MJs and thought the Scutes weren't comfortable at all.
When I was pregnant with Emma (pre-crocs) I wore my Birkenstocks because the suede stretched with my feet. By the time I was done, they were stretched beyond belief and didn't fit any more. :rotfl:
I'm trying to remember what I wore to work but that was over 4 1/2 years ago and I don't have the foggiest clue! I do remember that I kept an upside down wastepaper basket under the desk and used it as a foot rest and kept my feet up most of the time. That helped alot with the swelling.

Julie....I am going with Ken to help him at a trade show is Las Vegas next month and needed black shoes that would be comfortable to stand in, so I bought a pair of Crocs in a style called Troika. They have a little bit of suede on them, so that makes them a little dressier.

I didn't like the Mary Janes either. They seemed too short for my toes.

Our office manager is a real bear. On the rare occasion we can wear jeans we are not allowed to wear tennis shoes (ugh) so I can't imagine her approving crocs. But ... if it's all that fits lol ;)

When I went through the heel spurs a couple of years ago, the worse pain was in the mornings, stepping out of bed. It felt like someone was sticking a knife into my foot. It hurt a lot. I went into the same foot doctor I went to just recently and the treatment wasn't very pleasant, as it consisted of cordizone shots in the bottom of my foot. It hurt, a lot! Much worse than the cordizone shots I just had, which were on the top of my foot and much less painful. I don't want to scare you and/or discourage you from going to the doctor, you do need to go. On a positive note, they wrapped my foot which instantly relieved the pressure so I could walk. That was the summer I was on the beach in Hilton Head in tennis shoes because I couldn't wear sandles.
When they did the xrays last month, the doctor said to me I am the queen of heel spurs. I said I don't have those anymore and he said, oh yes you do, look, and he showed me the xray. He went on to say I am a perfect example of why they don't do surgery, as mine responded well to treatment - evidently as I didn't even realize they were still there - I just I thought they would go away.
I hope you go in soon, as much as it hurt to have it taken care of, the treatment was well worth it in the end.

Hey, are you coming to the Tiger/Pirate game here? I think that's about the same time when you're down. We decided to only get tickets for the Yankee/Pirate and Yankee/Reds games because we're conveniently located right smack between the two parks. Although Legends Field is really only like 35 mins away. It's too bad we couldn't get together for the Yanks/Tigers like the group did last year, that would have been fun.
Have a great trip.

It's funny because I've been a passholder for 3 years now, and I've never received a Mickey Monitor. Bruce and Emma have had theirs for over a year. Now we just got Julia's AP in October when she turned 3 and guess who is the only person in our house to ever receive a MM. J. Weird.

It's totally understandable to mail only one per household. I just think it's crazy that I have never received one in 3 years and Julia got one after having an AP just for a few months. And heck, she can't read!! So, if they're gonna do one per household, you would think that only adults would get it! :lmao:

And, while some get one, or none, we got 2 this time. Why??? Because they have one to the Rodgers family, and one to the Rogers family. And, all of our passes have our last name spelled correctly, so where did they get the Rogers spelling from, and they both have the exact same address (it's not like one address is spelled differently???).

OK, I even get that, one per household, one per last name, but I don't have the same last name as the rest of my family! :lmao: So I really think it's like a roulette wheel, spin the wheel, will you get the MM? Maybe, maybe not. Doesn't really seem to be any rhyme or reason. :lmao:

The girls and I are back after spending the day with Gail. We met up at Epcot and rode Spaceship Earth (the changes are really cool!) and then grabbed Fast Passes for Test Track. We rode a few more things and then it seem to get VERY crowded so I said lets just take the monorail over to the MK, enjoy the ride and I can grab another litho. :lmao: So we did that, the weather was alot nicer over at MK :confused3 But still very crowded. We sat and watched the parade and the girls and I headed home.
On the way back to our car, I stopped at Guest Services at Epcot, the one outside the park. The girl there said no, they do not have Mickey Monitors, but I did read a few different places of people getting them there, so who knows really. I told her I was told I could get one there b/c I didn't get one at my house and she said they didn't have them. I guess try to call the passholder phone number and see what they say. :confused3 With people buying APs and renewing there at Guest Services I can't see them not having them.
I have 2 now with 2 to go. The pain in the neck one is going to be MGM where you have to go all the way to the Backlot tour to get one. AK apparently you don't even have to go into the park, it's right at Guest Services at the gate.

Sounds like fun, Diana. Did Gail send John & the girls back to MI and she's catching a flight home sometime this week? How cool that she got to extend her stay. And, that you had the chance to get together, I know now that your a FL resident how much you enjoy meeting up with visiting friends. Lucky you!

Yep, John, Deanna and her friend all drove home yesterday and Gail is staying at SSR and flying home on Thursday.
And you're right, It's always fun to go up for a few hours and visit with our friends!
We plan on getting our AP's on Tuesday. Do you think we will be able to get a MM with a coupon when we buy our passes??? Oh well even if we dont we will be in Fla. :cool1: I am packing now Coleen will pack when she gets home from work.
I hope everyone is having a GREAT Sunday!

:tink:I hope you are able to get out in the morning.
Walker & I just came home, it's nasty outside once again. :sad2: I'm thinking the kids will probably have another snow day tomorrow. :crazy2: I'll be rather surprised if they don't, I think we already have about 3" from the time Walker & I went to his cub scout event until we left, not even 2 hours later. It's that wet and heavy stuff and it's STILL coming down fast & furious.
Coming home, we saw a really bad accident at the entrance to our subdivision - it looked like between a car and at least one snow plow. We couldn't even turn in as the road was closed off. I hope everyone was okay, we didn't see any ambulances, just the tow trucks pulling everything off the grass areas.
I almost didn't make it into the driveway as it looked like the plow made 1 pass down the middle of the street and pushed everything to the sides. Walker would have been so excited to get stuck and I would have been fuming, as Gary & Cameron are still out there and I would have had to dig us out. :rotfl2: I'd be knocking on all the neighbors doors for help - wait, they have been having Gary help them with their snow removal lately, so that wouldn't have helped any.

Diana - thanks for the update on your experience with the MM.. what a bummer! I am wondering if they will give them to new AP holders? HMMM
Steve - hope you guys got out ok and are on your way! Have a grand time.
Gail - I'm so jealous :thumbsup2

Cindy...it sounds like you feel the same way that I do. I'm ready for winter to be over!! I drove for almost 6 hours on Thursday in snow and sleet going out to see Dana for Mom's Weekend at her university. It is usually a 4 hour trip. At times I was driving 25 mph on the interstate! It just started to snow again here, and I am getting tired of it.
Spring :flower3: can't come soon enough for me.

Julie...the coupons are going our with todays mail! I forgot yesterday...Sorry!
Diana...sounds like you and Gail had a blast!
Steve and Colleen...Have a safe and fun trip! Lucky you, getting out of the snow for a while! Bring the warm weather back with you!
Cindy...Did the boys end up with a snow day? We have about 3" of snow, it wasnt as bad as I thought...The girls ended up having school, they were OK with that because they dont want to have to make any days at the end of the year when its warm.
I took my car in last night, got the rental, and went home and never left the house. I was in an accident of Friday, and didnt want another one. On friday a delivery truck stopping at the house next door to me hit my the back end of my car. Did about $4000 worth the damage. No one was hurt, but if the guy was a little more careful, my car wouldnt have been hit either.
Yikes, Tina, I'm glad your okay. Sorry about your car. I'm sure it's tough as you weren't doing anything to continue to the accident. Hopefully it will be fixed and good as new in no time.
Mary, you are absolutely right, I am ready for spring. I'm anxious for all the snow to melt so I can see if the daffodils are starting to peek out. :cheer2: It's been a rough winter here, more than it has been in several years.

Erin - Sorry! I didn't mean to rub it in about Spring Training! It certainly does stink that the Tribe is leaving the Grapefruit League after this season. I think that they're the only other AL Central team... Now, the real question is: Will you guys manage to hang-on to Sabathia??? :confused3
Diana - As the blonde pregnant one already stated, yes, we'll be at the game on 3/9. It is too bad that we couldn't put a big shin-dig together again. The team's schedules just didn't jive this time. Plus, we're going to be down there with some of our Tigers friends. They're staying with us, and will be tied to our sides for the entire trip, due to their lack of knowledge of Disney and Florida in general. I'm not too sure how they'd feel about a big get-together. One nice thing about Spring Training - There's always next year, and I guarantee that we'll be down there at some point! :woohoo:
Tina - I'm glad that you're okay! Car accidents stink beyond belief. We're coming up on the year anniversary of having our truck totaled, and I'm still steamed about it.
Count me in amongst those ready for Spring! I just read an article stating that Michigan is already above average snowfall this season, and we're supposed to get another 3"-5" today. Yippee. I'm strange in that I actually don't mind winter, but I've about had it with the bitter cold, and I'm not so sure that my back can handle yet another shovelful of snow. :faint: Doesn't Mother Nature know it's baseball season?!? Geez!
Did everyone go to WDW or what? :rolleyes1
We finally did Walker's birthday party today - at the roller rink. The kids had fun, as did Gary, out on the skates. Walker was tickled pink that Gary decided he was going to give it a try. Walker even volunteered to help keep him on his feet, but Gary did good on his own.
After that it was off to hockey class. Between inline skating for 2 hours and ice skating for an hour, I'm sure Walker will sleep well tonight. That is after he's done opening and playing with all the presents he brought home.
Cameron's offf at a party himself so it's just Gary & I to fight over which channel to put the TV set on. That doesn't happen very often with the kids always wanting to play those video games. Who's idea was it to connect them to the big screen tv in the family room. I wonder if they'd notice if we move the playstation and wii into their bedrooms. :lmao:

Hi Cindy - I'm still up here in the freezing north - leaving on Wed for WDW and a non-Disney cruise with friends. But just so I can get my Disney fix we're adding a few days on before and after the cruise. I'm hoping that by the time I get back spring will be showing around here.
Today I was busy with Christopher's 2nd birthday. What a difference a year makes! Last year he cried when we sang to him but this year he was all smiles and got into the party full force. He really did like cake! And presents too! It was alot of fun!!!
Like I said earlier, I'm out of here Wednesday morning - really looking forward to getting away from this white stuff and seeing some of the beautiful colors of the Carribbean waters!

Sounds like an awesome party for Walker - I love that he offered to help Gary!
Mary - travel safely!
We also leave Wed for Florida :yay: ! We're going to see Grandma first in Sebring and then head back to the world. I can't wait to see the mouse, some good friends from our cruises as well as some wedding friends. Mary by any chance was the shower held in Southgate?
We were at my nephew's baby's 1st birthday party and it was held at a Community Center in Southgate. When we arrived at the building Deanna went in the first door she saw that had people in it and it turned out to be a baby shower. We did finally find the right room for the birthday party.

Cameron is sicker than sick. I'm betting it's that flu that seems to be going around and around. He's insisting that he can go to school - 103 fever and all. I'm actually surprised it's taken this long to hit our house.
I suspect he's a little concerned because we received a letter around Christmas saying that if he missed anymore days of school, he'd need to have a doctors excuse. Well, with Gary not working and us having only major medical, Gary is going to call the school today to figure out how this can be an excused absence without a doctors note. :headache:
If they won't approve it, I'm thinking we're taking him to the cheapest doc-in-the-box we can find. I can see those phone calls now - yes, I'd like to know how much you charge to write a note for school? Nope, you don't really have to see my child, it's just a requirement to satify the school, I'm fairly sure he's going to be fine in a couple of days. And, we could have sent him to school, I'm sure that's how it continues to be spread. I guess I'm a little bitter, I'd like to be able to be the parent and decide if my child is sick enough to stay home from school without any boundaries.
Now I wonder, who's next to get it? :scared:

Sorry I have been a little MIA recently.
I just got all caught up
Happy Belated Erverything!!!!!
Getting settled in the house has kept us pretty busy. We have done alot of painting and are still unpacking some things. We took a quick trip to Long Island during the school break. Conviently it was paid for by NYS since Nick & I basically tagged along with Jeff who had to go down for work.
I will eventually post a picture or two but I'm currently using my work laptop since my computer is having some issues. We seem to have picked up a virus or trojan horse or something so I disconnected from the internet and we are just trying to save my pics and important stuff and hopefully get rid of whatever got in.
I so wish we were taking a trip to sunny Florida some time soon. The weather has been wacky. One day in the 40's the next we have freezing rain and 6 inches of snow! Heck we were sledding down our driveway just last week. (yes it is steep enough and a des\cent length to get in a short run)

Steve you should have a cigar and read your magazine - maybe she might figure out what the magazine is about.
I've been busy the past 3 days looking for a new car. My lease is up in August but GM is doing a 6 month pull ahead. It probably would have been easier if I knew what kind of car I wanted. I like the new Malibu but they are almost impossible to come by here. I should know in the next day or two and hopefully have possession of it by Thursday night.
We're making our way to Lexington, Kentucky for the weekend. We have a soccer tournament. I think they were on the receiving end of the last snow storm, even if it melts the fields will be a mud pit. Tonight we're going out to get Deanna new under armor for the cold temps and a few more pair of socks so I don't have to wash any this weekend at the hotel and a new goalie jersery. Soccer is a money pit! I'm sure before the spring outdoor season starts she will need new shoes and shin guards and goalie gloves.
I'm here just been doing other stuff, I guess. I was looking for some of these :flower1: yesterday in the yard. Sadly, I didn't see any peeking their way out. The days are finally getting a little nicer and we can actually breath when we go outside without our lungs freezing.
Steve, I agree with Gail, if you light up one of those cigars, I'm sure the girl will figure out what the magazine is all about. If not, she's just showing her ignorance again. :lmao:
Gail, have fun car shopping.

Try hockey...it's just as expensive I would imagine. When we went to have Walker fitted for skates, there was a girl in there looking at goalie shin pads to the tune of $1400.
Here's a little heartwarming story. Walker started playing hockey back in early January. The coach put together a package of equipment, the basic stuff, that was running each family $188. With Gary not working since October, money is tight around here. But, I had some Christmas money stashed away and I said to Walker we'll go get the equipment over the weekend. We go in to get it and the owner says, oh, Walker's not the size of this equipment, his feet are bigger, his head is bigger, in fact, we don't even have that helmet anymore. :sad2: I asked him right out if this was a bait and switch type thing because what we were hearing now was not what we had heard at hockey. He said no, it was just that what was on the sheet was "last years model" and now they carry this years model. Walker is looking at me, am I going to get the equipment? It's breaking my heart, and I tell him I only have $200 to spend. With that, we bought him a pair of skates and a helmet.
Tuesday comes and Gary takes Walker to practice. I meet them up there and we mention to his coach that for our $200 we got Walker's skates and a helmet. We go into how Gary isn't working and things are tight, but we were willing to invest in the original package, but that's not what we ended up getting. The coach flipps out, is really angry  and tells us to return the equipment to the store because that is not the arrangement he made with the owner. Gary & I are looking at each other like, now what do we do.
On Wednesday, Gary takes the skates and helmet back to the store and gets our money back. The owner was out of town, so the assistant manager helped him. Gary comes home and the phone rings. It's Walker's hockey coach and he tells Gary.......GO back and get the skates from the store and have them bill us at the park district. We're really scratching our heads now but the coach said that they have grant money available and will fund the cost of the skates through that. So, Gary goes back to the store to get the skates again. :rotfl2:
Saturday comes and it's time for practice again. We're a little early and I'm sitting in the bleachers when Walker comes running over to me and says - look, the coach gave me a pair of shin guards. I'm telling Walker, he meant only for today, and Walker is insistant that he gets to take them home. :confused3 I go over by Walker & Gary and Gary says, the coach told Walker to take home those shin guards and then the coach comes over and says, after practice today, Walker you take home all the equipment that you have been using, write your name on it and bring it every time to practice. :thumbsup2
I have to say, it felt funny to walk out of there and we still feel like a charity case. But, Walker's coach said that's not the case at all, that they do have money to go towards kids who want to play and are having some financial issues. And, that seldomly do they see a kid who takes to the ice as easily and naturally as Walker has and that they wanted to promote his abiliy. With Walker, I know that having the equipment is a big deal and I wonder if his coach knew that as well. Gary & I both said, things like this don't happen to us.
When Gary gets on his feet, I see a donation heading to the park district to help other kids and pay it forward. :cool1:

Cindy, sounds like you are a fortunate family even during these tougher days. I am sure the park district would rather the $$ go to someone who needs it AND is appreciative of it. I hope Walker turns into the next Wayne Gretzky!

Gail - good luck on the hunt for the car. I will be in your shoes next summer too! Drive safe down to Lexington. We start outdoor practices next week. Our first game is April 5th. We have to practice in the parking lot because as of right now there is 18 inches of snow out there. By the time it all melts it is going to be a HUGE MUD PIT. I see all season being a mud fest. I have xtra large garbage bags in the car for Nick to climb into after games.
Good luck Deanna !!!!
I'm here just been doing other stuff, I guess. I was looking for some of these :flower1: yesterday in the yard. Sadly, I didn't see any peeking their way out. The days are finally getting a little nicer and we can actually breath when we go outside without our lungs freezing.
My flowers started to come out a few weeks ago. I just do not see them coming back out.
Try hockey...it's just as expensive I would imagine. When we went to have Walker fitted for skates, there was a girl in there looking at goalie shin pads to the tune of $1400.
....
Cindy what a wonderful gift Walker received. I am glad that he is enjoying and doing well at Hockey. One of my employees grandson plays on a league that is run by the Cleveland Hockey team. He is always practicing and they are always traveling. Even a local game for them is 45 minutes away. that is just NUTS in my opinion.
Have a great evening everyone.

Steve, That women sounds like a real pain in the butt! I'm glad I dont have to work with her!
Gail, Good Luck on the car shopping! When my car was in the shop they gave a me a 2009 Toyota Camry, and I fell in love...I asked Tim what would he say if I went and got one...He told me go ahead, just dont show him the bill since my current car is paid off. I decided to hold off for a while!
Cindy, Thats an awesome story, don't feel bad about getting a little help when you really do need it! Thats what its there for, I'm sure there are plenty of people that use it and dont really need to. Dont feel bad at all! Good Luck with the hockey!
Happy Wednesday to all! Its my late night, I'm hoping to get out of here by 7, and start dinner...I have the fixins for authentic mexican steak tacos, and they are calling my name!
We have made a collective decision about my girls and daycare this week! They really dislike going, and I was so afraid to leave them alone even if its only for a few hours after school at this point. But, we bought them a cell phone for emergencies only, and are going to try it over spring break. My dad is retired and only 5 minutes from the house, so he said he'd come over every day and check on them and make them lunch. Tim's Gram is only 5-6 minutes away, and she keeps Tim's daughter, so she can be over at anytime, I'm only 10 mins away at work, and least but not least my mom and step dad are about 15 mins away, and my step dad plans to take them a day or 2 during the week when he's not at auctions. Krystina's almost 12, and Haylee is 9, so they should be good! They get along pretty well!

Cindy that's great about the help you received with Walker's hockey. That is one expensive sport. Our soccer league does that kind of stuff with families in need. Seems like last season we had a great deal more kids that needed financial help. It's nice it's there to help and what a great idea to give back when things get better.
Erin, we got lucky with the tournament in Lexington. We were going to go to a Louisville tournament that was suppose to be held this weekend but they had to cancel because of the amount of snow. Lexington only ended up with 5" of snow and they sent out an e-mail saying most of it was gone and it's been sunny and breezy. Of course it's suppose to rain Fri/Sat so I'm sure the fields will look more like they are holding mud wrestling tournaments.
We picked out a car. I had to give up my grand prix. I absolutely love that car but Deanna complains everytime she gets in the back seat. Something about no leg room back there :rolleyes1 . According to John I leased a grandpa car - an Impala. It's black with tan leather interior and it doesn't look like a grandpa car! Not my first choice but it has decent gas mileage and has plenty of room in the back for Deanna. We toyed with getting another Trail Blazer but we wanted to have at least one vehicle that was easier on gas since John has a truck.
Tina because of my older kids not liking daycare I started leaving them at home the summer before they were starting 4th, 5th & 6th grade. Each week 1 of them was in charge. That person had to stay around the house and the other 2 had to let them know where they were going and the one in charge was responsible for making lunch and keeping the house cleaned. They did really good on their own. I'm sure your girls will do fine too.

Gail - sounds like a great car choice! We had an impala in Florida this past week and Matt and I both loved it.... but we are looking at mini vans (baby plus large dog = bigger cars) right now. Good luck with the tournament this weekend.... sounds like we'll need photos of the mud pits!
Cindy - that's excellent the park service has grant funds and I am so glad Walker loves Hockey so much! More pixie dust to Gary :wizard:
Tina - let us know how it goes with the kids staying home! Sounds like you have it covered :) .
Erin - if you put Nick in a garbage bag I want photos of that as well :cool2: .
We had a great time seeing Grandma and visiting Mickey! We were able to see Curt and Karen, Diana, Bruce and the girls and Amy, Chris and the girls - so much fun. We did brave a bit of RAINY weather a few days and managed to get sun burnt at a Spring Training game sitting in the shade freezing our butts off - it was wild.

Gail--congrats on the car choice!
It's funny b/c Matt was telling me on the Safari ride last week that an Impala is a car when the driver mentioned seeing Impalas! :lmao: All this time, Julie was holding Julia back from diving into the crocodile pit......I was trying to get her prepared for motherhood and Julia will keep you on your toes! :lmao:
Soccer season has started here this week too. And again, I got roped into coaching 10 4 year olds on the Pandas. (Very fierce sounding team name) I seriously need my head examined. Give them a ball and an open field to run on and well----it's quite an adventure. The plus side is we don't have snow and mud to contend with. But we do have fire ants. :scared1:
