Does anyone know if Animal Kingdom Lodge has been added yet as a portrait setting?

Hey, those are our dates, also! We're there Dec. 7-14.

I'm really not sure about what to wear. I thought red because the lodge is so green but DH does NOT look good in red and it's only an OK color for me. Blue is our best color and we both do well in green also but I think green would blend too much with the Lodge. DH and I both look horrible in white so that won't work either.

Do y'all think blue would be too awful for the WL at Christmas time? What about black? What color would you do?

That's great! I can't wait to be at the WL for Christmas time. :santa: I think that blue would be a really nice color. It seems to really stand out nicely in the pictures. I'm leaning towards red, but I'll probably change my mind a million times. I'll wait to see what the Disney Store is offering for holiday clothes. Do you know what time you'll book your photo session for?

I hope you have a magical time! :wizard:

Is there a website that tells all of the details about this? Out of all of the many times I've been to Disney, I have NEVER heard of this. I'm going to try to book us one for October!!!

I have a few questions.....if anyone could please answer them.

1. What resorts/places is this session offered at?

2. Let's say I do not pre-order the CD (we do not usually use photopass that much).....how much is the photo session and CD? Is it $50 total....the sitting fee and CD of all images? What do I sacrifice by not pre-ordering the CD? I'm afraid we will pre-order the CD and not use it very much in the parks? Will I only sacrafice the ability to manipulate the photos on the Photopass website? If so, this is definitely not a big deal as I'm good with Adobe Photoshop.

3. How's the image quality? Are they JPEGS with a high resolution? Can I manipulate them with my own software?

4. Say I do decide to pre-order the CD......what should I do? At 31 days out, pre-order the CD, then at 30 days out, book the session, print my receipt, bring to the session......and then what? When do I get the CD? After I get home and go online to the Photopass site? If I do NOT Pre-order the CD, I get the photos immediately after the session, correct?

5. Last thing, I promise LOL! Say I do NOT pre-order the CD.....but after I have the session at Disney, I Decide that I actually DO want the CD......can I combine the session CD with my photopass CD? Would I have to pay $50, plus the $125 at the Photopass site?

I haven't gotten far enough along to think of a time. I am still waiting to see pics from BC and WL before choosing a resort. If I don't love the WL locales, we'll probably go with GF or the Poly.

I wish you a great trip, also!

1. What resorts/places is this session offered at?
GF, Poly, SS, BC and WL with AKL coming online soon.

2. Let's say I do not pre-order the CD (we do not usually use photopass that much).....how much is the photo session and CD? Is it $50 total....the sitting fee and CD of all images? Yes, the sitting fee and CD are $50 if you don't pre-purchase the Photopass CD. Yes, you will sacrifice the ability to manipulate the pics on the Photopass site and will be unable to add the special Disney clipart, etc.

3. How's the image quality? Are they JPEGS with a high resolution? Can I manipulate them with my own software?
I don't know the answer to this one so hopefully someone else can answer this for you.

If you pre-order, you can do so at any time. You don't even have to do it before you book your session as long as you have your receipt in hand when you check in at the desk. If you pre-order the CD, you have 30 days from the date of your first photo to go online to the Photopass site and manipulate your pics. After you make all of your changes, you order the CD and I believe it takes about 6-10 business days for it to arrive. Yes, if you do NOT pre-order the CD, you will leave your session with a CD containing your photos.

5. Last thing, I promise LOL! Say I do NOT pre-order the CD.....but after I have the session at Disney, I Decide that I actually DO want the CD......can I combine the session CD with my photopass CD? Would I have to pay $50, plus the $125 at the Photopass site?
This is the instance that doesn't seem to have a clear-cut answer. From what I can understand, once you arrive and take photos, your CD will cost $125 unless you pre-ordered. You would then pay the $50 at your session and another $125 to buy the CD of your other photos that you would order per the procedure I listed in #4. If you do the session without pre-ordering, there is no way they can combine your session CD pics with other Photopass pics. However, if you pre-order the CD, your photo session pics will automatically be added to your Photopass account and will be lumped with the rest of your Photopass pics.

Basically, if you think there is any chance you want pics from the park, I would pre-order the CD. At the very least, it gives you a great deal and you don't have to stress about missing out on some great pics. Plus, you get the $25 cost for the photo session AND the ability to add all of the cute Disney clip art effects. It's a good deal all around.

HTH!

Hi, I know this has been asked before, but I can't find it in the thread. What is the first time you can book in the AM? Is it 8 or 9? I'd like to book at the poly the morning of our flight home, but I'd have to get it done on the early side...

Why don't you get in on a photopass share? It's much cheaper and you just have your group leader send you a copy of the receipt so you get your $25 sitting fee.:goodvibes

Just to make sure I have read the information accurately (feel free to correct me if not) The price of a photopass is $99 for pre-purchasing it, which I planned on doing anyways, and then you pay $24 for the sitting fee at the resort location and all the other photopass photos from your trip can be added to this photopass.

One question: What are all the locations you can choose and which one would be the best for a Christmas themed photo shoot?

TIA

Just tax--a couple of bucks. :thumbsup2

Yes, the pre-purchase is $99 and the sitting fee is $25 plus tax.

Right now, locations are GF, Poly, SSR, BC and WL with AKL coming on within the next month. From what I've been told, WL has the most dramatic Christmas decorations but I love the decor at GF for the sheer elegance.

How can you add the cute disney things to your pictures?

You do it on the Photopass website after your trip.

How do I go about ordering the photopass prepay? Do I do this when I reserve the photo session? Also do you see any of your photo session pictures after the session? Does your photographer sell you the pictures right there? ex..if there is a great family photo you love can you purchase it through them a frame? And I would imagine it would be pricey?

There is a link to the prepay cd site. I do not have it here, but sure someone will post it, if not, pm me and I'll find it when I get home tonight.

As for selling, the photographers let us view the photos after our session but no mention at all of buying since we already bought the cd, therefore we already had the rights to do what we want with those when we get home.

You go to the photopass website and pre-order there. Once ordered they send you an email with your receipt to take to the photo session. They will then charge you $25 + tx for the sitting fee. As for viewing your pictures, if you have a photopass card already, after you take the session go to the photopass website and punchin your card # and you can view your pics right away. (but this is only if you pre-ordered from my knowledge)

Stitchkingdom.com has alot of good information regarding all of this. Might want to check it out.

Thank you...I just went to the website and I can't figure out what to click on to pre order the pass. If I click on photo cd it wants my photo id # (which ofcourse I do not have yet) I know its pathetic - you are dealing with an amateur!!

Scroll down to the very bottom, under PhotoCD you will see a link for pre-purchasing PhotoCD. (its in the paragraph) click on that and you should be good from there.

I'm so undecided about where to have our photo shoot. I love beach shots......and I love the simplicity of the GF....so maybe there? I'm not really too keen on any of the indoor lobby shots, so I dont have to worry about what the lobbys look like. Most of the indoor shots posted seem dark to me. I'm a photographer who is going to be very picky about my shots LOL. But I just want to be in some family photos for a decent price! Decisions, decisions!

WHERE ARE YOUR LOCATIONS FOR PRIVATE SESSIONS AT THE WL?
Indoor: lobby, fireplace, totem poles, bridge towards Artist Pointe
Outdoor: Covered bridge, bridge over creek, rocks near Geysor, kid's den, bridge towards the DVC and down on the beach.

WHAT ARE YOUR FIRST AND LAST TIME SLOTS AVAILABLE?
First shoot starts at 8am and the last one at 7pm, daily.

WHEN CAN I BOOK MY SESSION?
30 days prior to your arrival. If you are arriving 9-30-08, you can book 8-31-08. It does NOT have to be 30 days prior to your "session", just within a 30 day window of arriving.

Hope that helps some of you.

Hi there, I haven't booked my Photopass session yet as I have two months left to go, but I did find a great outfit for my DD and I to wear. For any of you looking for a simple look, we got matching Khaki shorts and Old Navy currently has nice soft Tshirts on sale in various colors for $10. In the children's section, there are shirts that are similar in color or something called the contrast collar pocket tee, which is what I bought for my DD. It's a mainly white shirt with the color blue that I will be wearing on the edge of the sleeve and bottom of the shirt. It makes a really cute "matching" outfit for pictures and I thought I'd share. It was a nice, inexpensive way to get ready for our pictures :) I'm sure the mens/boys sections also have similar color patterns as well...I hope this helps someone out :)

Okay, just to clarify (I'm slow at all this digital stuff)...

That is correct. You purchased the cd which means you own the rights to images.

what's the largest picture you can print out off the CD? I usually do Sears Portraits in the fall, and I always order their 10x13 photo for my living room. Can you make a picture that large off the cd? If not, how about 8x10? Does it depend on where you get it developed?

What if more than one person in the group is doing a photo session? Can more than one person take a copy of the receipt and get the session for $25.00? Do they keep track of who's name is on the receipt? For example,
I am leading a group, so the receipt for the CD will be in my name. I am doing a photo session, but someone else in the group also wants to do a session.

Disneyshopping.com has polos onsale for 15.99 and we are doing fmaily picts. Question being, what colors should I get....should I go for all white with kahkis? Or should the kids wear colors? Or Hubby and I wear colors? Hubby is a BIG guy (2XL) and I have some 'more to love' as well. Or guys wear blue, girls wear white?
It will be me (28), DH (34), DNiece (13), DS (3) and (4) and MIL and FIL (65 and 67).

TIA!

Staran When I called recently to schedule a photo session they suggested we all wear the same or coordinating colors. We have done the white shirts and khaki bottoms and it looks very nice....This time around we've decided on all black. I actually saw pictures posted on this thread that gave me the idea.... Light blue seems to be popular and looks great..

I have a quick question regarding everyone's experience with their Photo Sessions... if you have an appointment at 10AM, how good are the CMs at actually starting your session at that time? Is there only one CM per location or multiple CMs to ensure that you actually start on time? With two little ones we are just trying to figure out what to expect in regards to wait time!

Thanks!

Last weekend, my family won a trip to Disney World so we decided we are going all out! Ive been thinking about doing a photo shoot for my family. Ive been reading about how everybody wears coordinating colors and whatever (which does look really nice). I am a little disappointed that most of the pictures dont show more of the location. Looking at these pics reminded me of a picture I took on our trip this past May before we went out to dinner at Kona - yes we kind of do blend into the walls but I like it because you can tell were at Boardwalk and the color shows off our tans! I did this by setting the camera on the amwar next to the TV and set the timer - it would have been a perfect picture if my sister would have been able to come on this trip!

http://i135.photobucket.com/albums/q121/ktmac111581/Disney%205-08/IMG_0454.jpg

Heres another one I took of my mom and dad on the Boardwalk

http://i135.photobucket.com/albums/q121/ktmac111581/Disney%205-08/IMG_0085.jpg

I think Ill quit my teaching job and go be a photographer at Disney!

I still dont know why they havent started doing photoshoots at Boardwalk yet.

Have a magical day!

Thanks. That's some great information. We're going the end of January and wanted to do the photo session at WL. It's such a beautiful resort. You should be able to get some great shots there. You get a parking pass at the resorts that is good for 2 hours or so and then park. You do not need to be a resort guest to do the photo sessions so you will be fine with how you have it scheduled.

Thanks!

When we did the one at the GF in December, there were several photographers, so that it seemed the appointment might of been staggered a little (so you weren't all at the same spot, waiting to be photographed). We only waited a few minutes for our photographer. HTH.

Just got off the phone:

WHEN CAN I BOOK MY SESSION?
30 days prior to your arrival. If you are arriving 9-30-08, you can book 8-31-08. It does NOT have to be 30 days prior to your "session", just within a 30 day window of arriving.

Hope that helps some of you.

I called this morning which is my 30 day mark for my vacation to begin and was told that I had to wait for 30 days from the date of the session that I want. :confused3

Well, that's frustrating! I wonder which it is? We want to schedule ours on Christmas Eve at the GF before we go to dinner, and I'm worried it might be tough to get an appt. for that time. I want to book it as soon as I possibly can.

Anyone know if you can book at 30 days from arrival or is it 30 days from your session?

Just called again based on the last few posts and was told again that I had to wait until 30 days from the date of the actual session, not from the beginning of my trip.

pj - Give it a go. The worst they will say is that you will have to wait for a few more days to schedule.

So what do you guys think would be better an morning session or evening session? I am thinking of either doing it right about breakfast or right before dinner. I am leaning towards the morning because it will still be kinda cool and our hair and clothes will still be kinda clean (after eating yeah, right LOL).

What I am worried about is the squinting in the pictures.

I Booked for 9am since we have a 2 year old and I want him to be in peak form. Also you're not all sweaty etc as you might be mid day.

You get 30mins. I have heard if the groups are too big they suggest purchasing 2 sittings. We got about 50 shots but I can't imagine assembling 4 families in 30 mins and getting anywhere near that amount of shots. I would suggest everybody chipping in and doing at least 2 sessions back to back.

We booked our photoshoot at GF for week before last. We were staying at the Wilderness Lodge and would have liked to have had them there, but when I booked I was told they weren't doing it yet. Wouldn't you know it, the day after we had our session, we saw a photographer walking with a family at the Wilderness Lodge. I guess I should have checked back closer to our arrival.

I wasn't too upset, though, because the hammock shots on the GF beach really turned out nice. Our friends, who were traveling with us and who split the photopass CD and photoshoot, will be using a picture of their girls in the hammock and the whole family on the sailboat for their Christmas cards. I also really liked a few of the shots with the Magic Kingdom in the background.

During our second week at the BCV, we saw the photographers out with quite a few groups.

My person emailed me the confirmation. I had read someone had trouble because the name wasn't the same. I called and asked if the name was different did it matter I was told no. Once I got the email I realized I could just change the name on the email confirmation to mine. I did so they didn't say a thing when I checked in.

My DH and I did the photo sessions at the WL and Poly this past Thursday and Friday (1st day for WL). We had a great time and got some wonderful photos. Beth (WL) and Richard (Poly) were awesome photographers and we had so much fun with them both! I will try to post some of the photos once I receive the CD. It was just the 2 of us for the photos so it went really fast. We can't wait to do it again when we take our children next time.

I highly recommend pre-ordering the CD and then getting the session done. That way you can get the pictures done and then edit them the way you want to and then order the CD. We are at 176 photos right now and I 'm not done editing them yet! (This also includes the pictures we had taken in the parks.) I was told that a CD can hold about 300 photos.

As a DVC member we also got a coupon for a free photo mug from PhotoPass.com. I am so thrilled with the photos that I may have a photo book done as well.

We were also told that the AKL will be a little while since they don't even have the desk set up yet with the system and screens.

It was well worth the time for us!

hi steffy,

we are in the uk too.

we called 001-407-934-4004
(that includes the international code)

then you go thru to a menu.

select the resort that you want the pics done at...(we are at beach club)
then you are transferred thru to the hotel photopass desk i think.

we booked yesterday for sept 14th and then went online and pre-ordered the photopass cd for the discount $100

hope this helps

Also, what are the photo sessions in the parks like?

yeah, i think if you call that number and go thru to any desk they will assist.

i dont think you can do private sessions within the parks though, thats just a case of getting the photopass photographers to take your pic in the usual places - mainstreet usa etc....

On a side note, I know that this could be a lot of work for someone, but mods or OP, is there any way we can edit the first post of this thread to have a sort of FAQ bit where all the regular questions and information is - like phone numbers, locations, times, etc instead of having to trawl through so many pages? Might mean new people to the thread can also find the stuff they need quickly? Just a thought :goodvibes

I ordered my CD and booked my photo session at GF but only because I couldn't book AKL. I want AKL and asked them if they could PLEEEESE (my best whine) take our pictures there. The CM said that they were having a meeting about AKL and they would try accommodate us. Because we are so close to the start date and they have been known to start early, he says we may be able to be some sort of "trial run" family. I'm thinking :yay: . I had to book at another resort because the system is not set up for AKL bookings yet but all of my information, including that I really want AKL has been documented. Needless to say, I am very excited. I'll be sure to post pictures right away.

Phoned Photopass Portrait line and was informed that AKL won't be available for another two months as there is no desk set up, once thats in place it takes 4-6wks to getting set/started etc

The CM also informed me that the sit down only price of $25 (if you have preordered the photopass) will be going up in price, most prob between $50-$75 and the other sessions as well will go up, such as the $50 fee without photopass etc. This should be taking effect either at the end of this month or beginning of September. I really wanted to do Christmas Eve pictures in the GF lobby, but I don't think I can bring myself to pay $50 for the quality of what most of the PhotoPass photographers produce. My dh is a professional photographer and we both know what things should look like, and unfortunately, we haven't been super-impressed by most of what we've seen (eyes closed, weird shadows, objects "growing" out of the subjects' heads, etc.).

This is not correct, its $25 for the first session, and $50 for each thereafter. So, I was told our 3 sessions are costing us $125.

Okay you can technically only pay $25 per session if you print off 3 different receipts. They only mark the receipt used and don't note it anywhere else in the system. Photo pass shares have all families doing a photo shoot and are only paying $25 per session - same concept.

We are going to try it that way, but since our sessions are back to back at the same resort, I was told by others on this thread it won't work that way. But, really the rules are $25 for the first session, and $50 for each thereafter. I won't lie and say we each purchased a different cd to get the discount. But I will print out the receipt 3 times and see if it works.

It's all speculation. Take for instance the CM at WL told me once "September" is open, you can book all of that month, CM at another location told someone else here, it's 30 days from your session....I don't think they all know very much and shouldn't "gossip" so to speak with customers or potential customers. I am doing 2 sessions and was quoted $25 each (3 parties in our group with sep. cd's).

If the price increases, I will simply provide the date and name of the person I spoke with (anal with details, I write everything down) and demand they honor the price given on the phone.

Don't let this rumor ruin your vacation. And for the MK closing early, that's due to Mickey's Not So Scarey Halloween Party, something that anyone should take into consideration when booking around Sept-Oct. It's closed early 1 night when I'm there, and although tiffed a bit, I understand (tiffed b/c last year it didn't begin as early in the month) and accept that as part of the time of year we chose to go.

i'm sorry but for a 'real' pro photoshoot it would cost far more than $50.

i think even at $50 its still exceptional value for money.

i dont know a pro photographer that would shoot for 30 minutes for $50... it would hardly be worth their time and effort

Of course a real professional would charge more than $50. As I said, I'm married to one.

What I'm saying is, in my opinion, the skills of the average PhotoPass photographer don't rate $50 for 20 minutes.

If you think the quality of the shots you get is worth $50, great. But I don't, and I won't be paying it.

I agree...have you done a photopass session before? The photographers are no where near professional...yeah..they have a decent camera...but give me the camera and I could take the same pictures. I will not be paying if the price goes up to $50.

christa112

I have to agree. I have worked in the photography industry for over 7 yrs and when you pay a "professional photographer" a sitting fee you are paying for much longer than a 1/2 hour and they pay alot more attention to details that what the photographer's at WDW do. Having seen some of the pictures posted with people standing in the sun and squinting, would not fly with most photographers as well as people who are blinking in their photos, they would take more than one shot to make sure their customers are happy.

Having said that I would be happy to pay a higher price for longer time and more experienced photographer, but don't give me a 16 yr old holding a camera for $50.

I think WDW will see a very big decrease in the photo shoots if they jack their prices up.

If the preivous poster is talking about the early closing on October 4, then no it is NOT a MNSSHP. The party was cancelled for that night and the speculation is that it will be a large media event announcing the new 2009 WDW parks promotion.

I think I will do a photo session just because its Disney, $50 isn't great but its not bad either. It would be alot more expensive in the UK, plus I doubt one could recreate a tropical theme over here, not one that looks authentic anyway.

Hi, I am already going to the MNSSHP, which is why we're actually going in October. If you check out this link, http://www.disboards.com/showthread.php?t=1911758&goto=newpost
you'll see what I'm talking about. MK is closing at 5 o'clock on Oct 4 for reasons unknown to us. That was the only day I had left to spend a full day at MK and see Wishes and Spectromagic (I had already made my ADRs at other parks and this big cancellation on the 4th just came about last week!) I am definitely not the only one affected by this...

Hey guys

Phoned Photopass Portrait line and was informed that AKL won't be available for another two months as there is no desk set up, once thats in place it takes 4-6wks to getting set/started etc

The CM also informed me that the sit down only price of $25 (if you have preordered the photopass) will be going up in price, most prob between $50-$75 and the other sessions as well will go up, such as the $50 fee without photopass etc. This should be taking effect either at the end of this month or beginning of September. Such a bummer as I wanted to do two sessions :(

The pictures I have seen are worth $25. We won't be doing the session if it increases to $50. As others have said, the bad lighting misplaced backgrounds, etc, aren't worth more than $50.

Hopefully this change doesn't happen, we have our shirts already...:sad2:

Has anyone paid their photo session fee with their Disney Rewards card from their Disney Visa?I didn't, but I'm sure it will work. At Grand Floridian, the photographer at the PhotoPass desk gave me a laminated card with a barcode on it that I had to take into the gift shop to pay the fee. The CM in the gift shop scanned the barcode into her cash register and it was like any other purchase. I charged the $25 to my room key, but I'm sure the rewards card would have also worked.

i think the very fact theyare increasing the price means that there is demand for the product, if they can get away with charging a higher price and people pay it, then they will.

do you think they are concerned about people saying they wont pay an increase? no way, as theres plenty of people that will pay a higher price.

this reminds me of a radio phone in, i once listened to, there were tons of people complaining about an extra booking fee arrangement of £2 (thats $4) for paying with their credit card for stadium and concert bookings. well, its just a fact of life if they can charge more they will.

theres no shortage of people to book the resort photopass session, hence the rollout to other resorts....

from a UK perspective, this is still incredibly cheap due to the weakness of the US Dollar

Of course there's demand at $25. $25 is a very reasonable price for the quality offered. There's been no shortage of people to book at $25. Not sure there'd be that big rollout if the cost was initially $50 or more. Only time will tell. :confused3

The fact that $50 isn't a big deal to you because your dollar is stronger is fine for you. For many of us living with the "weak" dollar, it's just not worth the price for the quality delivered.

Look, I'm happy that you think it's a deal. But there's no point in trying to convince others that we should pay double or triple the current price for a strictly average product. We'll just have to agree to disagree.

I'm staying at the Beach Club in October, and I had a CM try to convince me yesterday that I should switch my reservation to the Swan or Dolphin or at least BWI if I wanted to be close to EPCOT because I'd have to walk very far around the boardwalk otherwise. i am not trying to convince anyone to pay more....but i am entitled to my opinion without being shouted down...

thats your choice, i just think people are misguided if they think that at $50 theres going to be some mass exodus away from booking a resort photopass session.

listen disney aren't dumb, the very fact they have put these photopass sessions at the 'higher end' resorts where for many (not all) customers, the price is not such a huge issue, then there will ALWAYS be demand at $50.

fair enough, if they put it at all star or pop then i could understand people unwilling with an increase like this

No one's "shouting you down." In fact, I see it as the complete opposite. You are the one who initiated and are perpetuating this exchange.

My initial post (that you replied to quite tersely) wasn't directed at you at all. You popped in and chose to quote me in your reply. You came off as argumentative and implying that those of us who object don't understand business and were silly to object to a doubling or tripling in price.

As I said, we'll have to agree to disagree. Enjoy your photo session. :)

We just got off the phone with Disney about the Resort Photo Shoots and they confirmed (of course, we know we get different stories from different CMs quite often) that the price is increasing from $25 to $50 beginning in September. However, if your 30-day-until-photo-shoot reservation mark falls before September, you can lock in the $25 rate (ex: our photo shoot is Sept. 15, but we booked today so we still only have to pay $25). So, I am sorry for those who will have to pay more, some of the magic of this deal was getting such a good price. :sad2: However, I hope you all have a great trip with lots of great pics anyway! :cutie:

Last year we did the photoshoot right at the change of them starting to charge. We were told on the phone we would be charged for the photoshoot. Others on here were told they would not be charged and posted they had indeed not been charged. I think they will inform you when there is a change and will let guests know of that change when they call and book. Since that date has not been set they are not bringing it up. When they know then they will inform you when you book that the fee has gone up and what your sitting fee would be.

Well, to the person 3 pages back:

Disney's website calendar for Magic Kingdom, shows that the MK is open still from 9-9 on October 4. I would imagine they'd update that information should it really be closing at 5 pm. Did you call to see if Wishes will even be going on that night?

Man, that really stinks about the price increase! I was excited to get some snaps of me with my family. I'm a photographer and I was willing to pay $25 just so that I can be in the photos too, since I'm always the one behind the lens. But $50....I dont know about that. The quality of the photos is not very good, not sure if it is worth $50.

I'm sure that the general public will be more than willing to pay $50 for family photographs. Most do not know what truly makes a good photograph. A photographer or someone who knows about cameras will be able to spot it immediately.

I think they will be mostly if not completely decorated. Immediately after MNSSHP those decorations come down and it's time for Christmas.

Just called and got an appointment for the Poly at 6:30 on the 13th of September. Now if I could only get a dining reservation at the Poly that evening, but doesn't look like that is happening. I was debating with the Poly and the Beach Club but decided the Poly will fit in with our Tropical vow renewal aboard the Disney Wonder earlier that week.

I have a question. Do you pay for the session over the phone when you make the call? Or do you pay when you arrive there for it?

can anyone answer this for me? :confused3

You pay for the session when you arrive and check in. No cc needed to reserve, but if you are not going to show, please cancel.

I bet that if these sessions become more popular (and apparently they have since they're adding other resorts) that eventually they may take a credit card over the phone and charge it if you are a "no show". :confused3

here for an hour looking at these and deciding to do it. I guess later is probably better.. as long as the kids are still up for it. Not sure how to schedule it into our day either.. but I'll go look.

What I'm afraid of is DDs glasses. When we did her BBB photo shoot I asked the photographer to be careful of the glare, but it is in almost every one of them. Did you have a lot of photos ruined by glasses glare? It drives me nuts! I have even gone as far as popping her lenses out when we have pix done...but I don't want to do that too many times. (and no.. I don't want her to take them off.. it just wouldn't look right either..)

did anyone have a problem with this too?

My dd wore glasses from the time she was 3 years old. The ONLY time she did not have a glare was when the photographer would 'bounce' the flash. Your best bet are outside photos with no flash. DD is now 20 and has been in contacts for a long time. It's just something I dealt with when she was smaller. Now a days, you can probably photoshop that glare out (but I'm not sure since we haven't had that problem for a while).

We did the poly at 11 am and the sun Was HORRIBLE!!!!! The outside pictures did not turn out.IT was not the photographers fault it was just too sunny. We did get a wonderful picture in front of the waterfall.....but you wouold need the flash in that and would get a glare I would think. We had the same problem with my oldest when he was little. He wears contacts now so not a problem

i'm sorry but for a 'real' pro photoshoot it would cost far more than $50.

i think even at $50 its still exceptional value for money.

i dont know a pro photographer that would shoot for 30 minutes for $50... it would hardly be worth their time and effort

Heck yeah it would! I charge $149 for 10 portraits on a disc and that's a "special". But, you get what you pay for. The pictures are just fine for the price.

One thing to keep in mind when booking these Disney sessions is time of day. Make sure you're close to sunrise or sunset for the best pictures. This avoids the sun beating down on your face and that "glowing" effect, not to mention squinting eyes. It wont hurt to check your "pose" for shadows and objects either. The photopass people are hit and miss. Some haven't a clue what they're doing while others are great. It doesn't hurt to check out the scene yourself. :thumbsup2

Photopass is a bargain for $99 (when purchased in advance) and if I didn't do this for a living I'd definitely do a resort shoot! $25 is a steal! (Even $50) Last Summer the Resort shoots were free if you purchased the PP so people must be booking them!

Just scheduled our shoot for the Poly on Sept. 18th!! I'm a little nervous because the guy booking the shoot did not speak very good English. I couldn't understand him very well either. It was also very noisy in the background. Has anyone had problems w/ the scheduled shoot? I didn't get a confirmation time. I'll probably call back latter this afternoon to confirm. Hopefully I'll get someone who I can understand a little better.;)

yeah! course i have, i am with DVC so i have toll free numbers anyway.

if they offer to take my booking on the principle of international call rates then why would i refuse???

they were the ones that specified about call rates not me, but i am sure as hell going to make sure that i get the booking that i want by calling as soon aspossible to make a reservation.

only a mug would say "oh dont worry about the call rates, i'll ring back in 5 days time"

There is no need for sarcasm, I was just pointing out us in the UK do not need to have expensive phone calls. How was I to know you had a toll free number and you would take advantage of a CM's generosity.

stop being so touchy for crying out loud, and for your information i took advantage of no one, i simply called and they let me reserve there and then without me having to manipulate the situation.

i do not appreciate you twisting the comment that i in some way influenced a decision a CM had already made!!!

Totally agree with you! These are not pro pics but for the price they are sure cute and nice to have pics of the whole family. PLUS, if you are any good with photoshop you can make them look even better.. :thumbsup2

I am a photographer too so I am having a hard time convincing dh that we should do this next month.. He does not get why I would want to pay a non pro to do our pics? Well...I guess so I can BE IN THEM and they will be at Disney..haha I am taking my tripod this trip though so maybe I will do them myself and set the timer and jump in.. ;)

I don't know if we will do it or not really..we won't even have my youngest with us so it won't feel much like a "family shoot" anyway, but it would be something fun to do.

Definitely to anyone booking..avoid the mid day shoots..the sun is killer! Go for really early morning or just around sunset for the best outdoor shots! :thumbsup2 Really watch your lighting and move yourself around if you have to if the spot you are in is no good..lol ;)

Last year I had two cameras mess up in a 2 day period so I had to go buy a new one while in FL. This was during the PPP so I was happy to have my Photopass in that case. I'm just too picky to do the resort thing. I'll be doing resort photos this time mostly of my kids but like you said, some with the tripod too. What part of NC are you fron? I am sooooooo excited... I just booked the Poly on September 19th for a Photo session! :thumbsup2 I was surprised my resort/package reservation number and/or credit card was not needed, she only ask for our name and cell number.

We have not had a family photo is years! I am hoping for one really good family photo... anything else will be a bonus! :goodvibes

She did tell me that I needed to bring the emailed PP CD pre-purchase receipt to show the Photographer, and that the session cost will be "1/2 off, $25.00" (so I take it we beat the price increase)? :confused3

Does anyone that has done the Poly shoot have any pointers? What color of clothing works best? Is there any "can't miss" spot there? Do they only photograph your party outside or are there inside shots?

Thank you! :flower3:

We did our WL photo shoot on Monday. I felt the pictures turned out pretty good. TS Faye was rolling in when we did the shoot- no rain, it was very cloudy. So, I will end up having to do some work on Photoshop with the pics to adjust the brightness.
The photo session consisted of our family and my BIL's family. The mom's wore yellow shirts, the Dad's wore light green shirts, the young boys wore navy blue shirts and everyone wore khaki shorts. The young girls wore matching outfits that were a plaid print of blue, green and white.

The color combos turned out very good. When I get the CD in the mail, I will post some pics.

May I ask what time you scheduled for? I may have to change my booking time to keep from squinting, I had not taken that into account I guess... I was simply trying to find somewhere to fit a session in!

Hello, :wave2:
I have been reading :surfweb: all the post here and was wondering if there is a special thread of post that will explain all the "ins and outs" for the Photopass. I have used the Photopass on some of our other visits but only for the photographers that are scattered throughout the parks. You have the photos taken, then you can purchase the whole CD when you get ready to leave. Well, since my last visit you now can pre-order the CD and also make arrangements to get Resort Photo Sessions done. WOW so much has changed.

DH and I are going to WDW 10/25-11/2 staying at WL for our Anniversary and our first ever "no family with us" trip. We are also going to the MNSSHP on 10/28, can't believe I can Trick-a-Treat at 52. :yay:

So, if anyone out there would be kind enough to help me or direct me in the right spot I would greatly appreciate it. :thanks:

I don't care how many visits you make there is always something new and improved out there. Thank goodness for these boards to help inform you. Everyone here is GREAT! :disrocks:

We have not had a family photo is years! I am hoping for one really good family photo... anything else will be a bonus! :goodvibes

She did tell me that I needed to bring the emailed PP CD pre-purchase receipt to show the Photographer, and that the session cost will be "1/2 off, $25.00" (so I take it we beat the price increase)? :confused3

Does anyone that has done the Poly shoot have any pointers? What color of clothing works best? Is there any "can't miss" spot there? Do they only photograph your party outside or are there inside shots?

Thank you! :flower3:

We are also scheduled for 9/19 at Poly. Our time is 9:00am. We are going with red shirts and khaki shorts for our photos. I hope they turn out well. This will be our last day and I'm afraid the kids will be a little tired.

We did the photo shoot on Aug 14 at 9:30 am and it went very well. The day was overcast and it worked out b/c we were not squinting and it was not so hot.The photographer was very patient and took 50-70 shots. Some were inside, some were outside, my 2 dd together and alone and some of just me and my dh. We all wore aqua/turquoise color tops and white shorts. I've ordered the cd but do not have the pics to post yet. I hope to be able to use one or more of these shots for our Christmas cards so I don't have to do anymore pics this year. I think it is well worth the money!

DH and I are going to WDW 10/25-11/2 staying at WL for our Anniversary and our first ever "no family with us" trip. We are also going to the MNSSHP on 10/28, can't believe I can Trick-a-Treat at 52. :yay:

WL is a beautiful place. They didn't have photo sessions last year when we stayed there so don't forget to take advantage of that. Have a great time Trick-OR-Treating (it's all about the CANDY not matter what age!!):thumbsup2

Hey, we saw you guys on Monday at the WL! You all looked fantastic in your matching/coordinating outfits. The girls were adorable! I can't wait to see how the pictures turn out.

Is this another change or an uninformed CM?

I called this morning and made our appt. for Sept 21 at the Poly. I asked about price staying at 25.00 and she said that it may be a set price and put me on hold. When she came back she said we were fine, but it was going to go to a set price. She couldn't tell when the change would take place, but said it would be 150.00 for the shoot to include a package of printed photos and and 199.00 for the shoot and photopass CD. She did sound new. Has anyone else heard this or is this one of those times when a CM just doesn't know?

I want to do this again in Jan. but for 150.00 I will be rethinking it.

Oh my gosh. That's a new one!!

What I wouldn't give for some consistency with the CMs! How is anyone supposed to know what the actual deal is if they keep giving out different stories? Have they not heard of training or mass-distribution of employee memos at WDW?

Thank You! My SIL and I spent half a day yesterday reviewing our pics on Photopass website. I have to say I am pleasantly surprised. I hate all the photos that include myself! but that's nothing new. :rotfl: Our photographer took around 70 pics. The coloring is way too bright, but I can probably fix that on Photoshop.

I thought the colors did rather well with the landscape (we'd never been to WL before, so we didn't know when we picked out the clothes). Soon as I get the CD in the mail, I will share with everyone! (the wait is almost as bad as waiting for the trip!)

Hi, AdamandLisa:

The dads wore light green polos, the moms wore yellow shirts and the young boys wore navy blue polos. Everyone wore khaki shorts or capris. The little girls had on matching outfits of blue, green and white plaid.

I will say, the yellow stood out against the browns/greens of WL very well. The navy blue and white did too.

We did the photoshoot at the GF on Monday night. I was underwhelmed with the photographer and the poses. We did not get a good shot of the whole family, I'm afraid. We did get a good shot of my hubby and me, and me the the kids together, but overall I just felt like it was "kamikaze" photography (taking multiple pictures of the same pose without any regard for our expressions or how we were posed). I am sure if I photoshop some I could get an ok one. I wasn't expecting fabulous, but I think I was expecting better. I'll post pictures when I can.

I'm so sorry to hear that the experience wasn't what you were hoping for.

Unfortunately, what you posted is my main objection to them doubling the price for the photo sessions - the photographers just aren't good enough. :(

I agree...I was all set to call when my 30 day mark hit for a spot at BC or the Poly....but not for another $50! Especially when the chances of getting a great photog are what maybe 1 in 10? If the price is gonna go up so much, we should at least be able to request a specific photographer......

oh well, guess I can find something else to spend the $25 on!

Thank you so much! We are scheduled for Sept. 2nd! So excited to explore the WL!:goodvibes Lisa I am not sure if you asked about the colors since macheath cited the colors were to bright. This sounds like the photographer may have shot the photos in VI or VI+ (vivid or more vivid) optimize mode which intensifies colors. You could ask the photo shoot member to shoot the photos in normal optimize mode.

Exactly. ::yes::

My dh is bringing his professional stuff and we're going to do our own photos on the beach w/a tripod and remote. ;)

If Disney hadn't made the decision to (apparently) TRIPLE the price, they'd have at least gotten my $99 + $25 ... now they get NOTHING.

Yea, I was sold on the $25 deal, now I just think I'll do the tripod and skip the whole photopass CD.

I called and made an appt at the Poly today and was told that the AKL should be up and running soon. The CM they have already started taking appts and that she had the phone # but couldn't find it. I'm really hoping somoene has it so I can try to book by Monoday....incase the price increase rumor is true.

Has anybody gotten the AKL phone #?

Thanks!

I just called to confirm the price increase and I was told $150 with no pre-order or $75 with the pre-order.

I'm really going to have to think hard about this. I would pay at least $125 for a sitting fee plus the cost of the individual prints if I got pro-pics done around here. For $75, we would get the sitting fee AND all of the pics but they aren't pro quality. They ARE at Disney, though so that is the good thing.

I'm torn!

ITA, $75 is a bit much. :(
So, if I am understanding correctly it would be $99+$75? $174?!?

Plus, I was looking at stitchkingdom and read, If you choose to get the PhotoCD, you can save your receipt and CD and exchange it later on during your vacation for a new PhotoCD containing all of your Disney's PhotoPass images. The only catch is you won't be able to make enhancements to any of the photos... Does that mean no Tink or Baby Simba in the photos?

Just an FYI for anyone else wanting to know. I called a few other resorts today trying to find info on AKL. I was finally told Saratoga Springs was taking ressies for AKL.....ended up just being for CMs. I asked her about the price increase and she said if I waited to book the AKL I would be charged the higher amount ($75), but if I book somewhere else prior to the increase they would only charge the $25. I'm sure you are all aware of this, but just wanted to share what I found out. :)

Thanks for everyone posting such great pictures and for the wealth of information on this site! :lovestruc

So am I reading this right - the resort photo sessions are now going to cost $75 if you have pre-ordered the Photopass CD? So they are going to charge 300% more for a 30 minute photo session with a photographer that may or may not have any actual real photography skill? If that is the case than I think that is ridiculous! For $75 they need to provide a longer session and guarantee that the people taking the pictures are real photographer and not someone that has a passing interest in photography. I like taking pictures too but I wouldn't call myself a photographer and definately wouldn't charge anyone $75 to take their pictures.

I actually just got off the phone with a CM at the Poly and he said I booked just in time because the price is going up in "2 days" according to him.

I'm booked for Sept. 16th at 7 pm at the Poly! :woohoo:

So excited! Now we have to figure out what we'll be wearing. I am thinking light blue shirts and blue jean shorts or khaki shorts. Or I may try to find a nice light colored dress (maybe even white) and then get my husband a coordinating shirt.

I had called earlier in the month and was told the same thing. I was also told that they may let a select few families take pictures but that you would have to sign a model release form so they could use some of the photos to advertise. In the case they do this, the cost for the photo session is free BUT, if we wait and book at AKL upon arrival (the only way to book right now) we would have to pay the higher price and would be subject to the new rules. We currently have a session booked and CD ordered (whew) and, therefor, would not be subjected to the new rules, that is IF they allow u s to have our photographs taken at all. We are holding on to our GF reservations and I am happy that I made them when I did. We will see if AKL works out. If not, we still have the GF appointment booked. :thumbsup2 I am also thankful for the information we receive here on the Dis. :grouphug:

I called GF photopass desk earlier and was told if you have your reservation booked by today you WILL receive the $25 price ( pre-order customers) AND you could still access your photos online to make enhancements or edit...however, if you book starting tomorrow you would be affected by the price increase and you could NOT view your photos online along with your park photos.:sad1: my suggestion...BOOK TODAY :thumbsup2
