Please excuse this if it is a stupid question, but what about eating while in the ports? We will be on the 4day Wonder with stops in Nassau and Freeport. Should we be concerned about what we eat and drink at these places. I've always heard things like, "don't drink the water while your in Mexico", is there anything we should avoid while in port. I'm not sure what we are going to do yet in either of the ports. I also saw comments about the cost of food at Atlantis being extremely high. If we decide to go to Atlantis on our own, what should we eat? Any recommendations for the trip would be appreciated. Thanks in advance, Erin

We took along some zip lock bags and ordered some sandwiches from room sevice. I have also heard others say they packed some food from the buffet tables. This is were to soft sided cooler comes in handy! I have not eaten in either of the ports you are asking about but I am sure there are others who can recommmend someplace to get a bite to eat.I have never heard anything about foods/bev to "avoid" or that are unsafe.
Hope this helps.

The last time I vacationed in Nassua I ate numerous times in the town at various places, breakfast, lunches and dinners and never had a problem with food or water...nothing like Mexico LOL! I wish I could remember names of places but it was awhile ago and they were just holes in the wall in town....

I've never eaten in town, but I ordered a drink on the public beach and hubby thought I was nuts! The vendor chopped a coconut in half right there and pour liquids in from some plastic jugs. It was delicious, and I am still alive and healthy despite hubby's fears. I know that many of the ship's crew members eat at an Italian restuarant in Nassau and say it is wonderful.
However, I will NOT be drinking anything if we go to Xcaret on the Western Caribbean cruise. I had two large glasses of something called "rice water," and a paid dearly for it :(
Now I know exactly what Montazuma's Revenge is.

My spouse got food poisoning on board, but no problems in port.
