We Just Took the Plunge - We're In !!!!

After alot of research on this board and others, we finally bought into DVC. Ended up buying into SSR direct through Disney. Got the 2007 as well as 2008 points and developer points. Already used them up for a Disney Cruise after a 4 day stay in WDW this summer. Also booked another trip in November 2008 with the remaining points.

We ended up going direct through Disney which cost more than resale. But with all the incentives plus not having to stress out about ROFR and getting documents from the seller, it was worth the extra cost. It's great to be able to book trips the very next day.

Thanks to all who have answered our many questions over the past year or so.

Most likely this buyer is still in the '07 use year for their contract. For example: If the use year is August, the '07 Use year for the contract would run from Aug. 1, 2007 - July 31, 2008. They would in fact have received '07 points if they purchased anytime before Aug 1, 2008.

We did the tour on Sat morning before we left for home, needless to say the DH exact words were "I wish I'd known this six months ago, because we could have used the $ we paid for our room at WL and gotten started with DVC" he also said that we will certainly be joining before its time to start planning our next vacation. And we start planning those in mid summer, so I'm holding out for something to happen very soon.

BTW...we were offered points from 2007 as well, with a July use month, so we would have the points from that and the points from 2008 to use...giving us double points. I didn't understand all that but the DH does :)

***Once in a while your guide will give you the '07 points if it is close- like they might give you a little leeway if you want an Oct use year and you buy on Oct 4th- you might still get the points. Also, sometimes, points sell out for a particular use year, so that can complicate things. I think that is more of an AKV issue, I think it shouldn't be a problem at ssr.
