Good afternoon Team 1. Hoping everyone is doing well.
I don't have any information for you, so we'll go direct to the bios.
Since there is a separate WISH Team bios/picture thread, please post your particulars there, and then post the link here. That would save on having to post it twice.
Here's mine (I'm towards the bottom of the page) Big Vic Bio (http://www.disboards.com/showthread.php?t=1694841&page=2)
Take care. :)

One of these days I will create a bio and post the link here, but time is always precious.
Just wanted to check in. Oh, and BTW, we are going to win this thing. I am looking at doing 2-3 marathons this year, and am being recruited to run a 50-mile ultra (not committed to doing that one yet) so that should help our mileage totals.

Hi Team:
No time for a full bio, but will give some quick background. I am a very overweight male who just turned 45. I am happily married to my DW of 18.5 years (although, in that DW is stuck with me "for life," I am not sure if she is "happily" married ;)). We have 4 very active children, 3 DDs and 1 DS. By trade, I am a litigation attorney in Connecticut primarily practicing in the areas of intellectual property and commercial litigation.
After getting brand, spankin' new titanium hips over the past 2.5 years and having several surgeries to get one of them right without the presence of infection, my chronic back problems decided to also cry for some attention. I decided I needed to get back in shape so, at the risk of being committed by my wife, decided the best way of doing this was to take up distance walking, even though I was having problems walking up a flight of stairs and standing up straight. I planned to do the WDW half this year, but reality slapped me in the face and I begrudgingly bowed out. My goals still include making it to WDW marathon weekend and I hope to do at least one half marathon this fall, the ToT 13K and be a lean, mean, endurance event machine at WDW in January 2009.
I am happy and proud to be a member of Senior Master Sergeant/Captain Vic's team and hoping his 11 month Butt Kickin' Boot Camp has me at the starting corrals in January. I also hope he can expectorate as well as his clippie persona.
(OK-maybe I did have time for a full bio.)

Hi Team :goodvibes
I haven't posted a bio and do to a family understanding I won't post pics on the internet so I figured I'd post my story here :)
I joined the Wish team back in 2005 after following a link on where to stay during marathon weekend and have been here every since. I'm a divorced 33yr old mom of a 14yr old DS. I have an MBA and work as a financial analyst at a brand new factory for a large corporation.
To say the last few years has been a rocky road is well like saying Mt Everest is just a large pile of rocks :rotfl2: I injured my back training for the 2006 1/2 marathon. Lots of chiropractor and physical therapy bills later an MRI showed a bulging disk in my lower back that presses on my sciatic nerve. As surgery scares the beejees out of me, I manage it with meds and stretching. This will be my 3rd time trying to get to the starting line of the 1/2marathon and I'm determined to make it :wizard:
Looking forward to piling up the miles/hours with each of you :cool1:

Donald's Defiant Dashers is going to be a fantastic team! I'm enjoying 'getting to know' everyone.
Bill- my son is an attorney in California, as is his wife but she is not practising now. They have 5 wonderful children, so she is a SAHM for now.
Minnie- Hang in there, I'm considering the 1/2 so hopefully I'll be seeing you there.

Since I don't have much time I will just post here and work on the big one later.
I am 35 and have been running for 3 years now. I got started after DW (Lynnda) completed the WDW half in 2005. I figured I could do it to and figured out a plan. Since then I have done 2 marathons, 2 half's, 1 Goofy, and a handful of 5k's and 10k's and a few other distances.
We have 2 kids who are growing way too fast right now. The oldest is starting to get excited about running and can go short distances and beat his parents.

Yay! I'm a Donald Defiant Dasher!! :cool1:
Quick info, and hopefully I'll get something on the other bio post.
I "met" Big Vic by recognizing him from his avatar and jumping out to say hi while cheering at the marathon this year! Sorry, Vic...it was all about the margaritas by then! :rolleyes1
So...I've been "active" since training for my first marathon in 1999. Got into triathlon shortly thereafter, and love it! Have run 3 marathons (stand alone), and completed 5 Ironman triathlons, with numerous shorter running races and triathlons along the way. I'm not fast, but I enjoy being active and fit. :thumbsup2
Looking forward to this challenge and being accountable for training!
Oh, and I do contract work in health care, live in Texas (but travel a lot), and am an old maid. haha! ok...45 and never married. please don't ask why...I don't know!
Hey Mickey
01-30-2008, 11:50 AM
Don't have time to post a full one, but I'm feeling left out so i figured I'd better post something:
Hi, I'm Erica *but not *that* Erica, as I kept having to explain down in WDW). I live in a 200 yr old house on the north shore of Long Island, which i am rehabbing in my spare (bwahahahaha) time. I have been married to my DH, Dan, for 16+ years, and we have 2 sons, Casey (12.5) and Matt (known universally as Mookie, age 9.5 (side note -- remember when being a half a year was still important to you?).
I am a lawyer, specializing in intellectual property litigation (because every team needs at least 2 of those, right? what are the odds). I left a big firm a few years ago to start my own practice so I'd have more time with my kids and to do other stuff. Unfortunately, it still keeps me busier than I'd like, but at least I have some extra flexibility to go on school trips and attend class plays and be there when they get home from school most days.
In addition to practicing law, I am currently getting my Ph.D. in psychology (my family calls it my mid-life crisis). I am in my last semester of coursework and then will just have the dissertation to do. Still no clue what i want to be when I grow up.
I found this board after the 2007 marathon -- I couldn;t help but notice the shirts and the message on them pulled me through several rough miles. This year, I went Goofy, and am now trying to decide on 2009 (boy, i hope Goofy closes out soon, because I am definitely w'vering but promised my family I would only do 1.
Ok, this got long. so much for not having time, huh? Can't wait to get out there and rack up the miles, because we are so going to win this thing!

Yeah for Donald's Defiant Dashers :cheer2: (even though I got to love that Stitch team's logo :cool2: )
I haven't had time to post a bio over on the other thread and I should just include a link to my blog but dang it I can't remember my address (LOL - smart right?? )
So here is a little about me. I am a native Floridian who has never really been that active besides dance in high school and a little bit of soccer here and there. Oh and that one year (8th grade) that I ran cross country (and sat down half way through the race!! Good thing my sister was there to run me in to the finish line) I am 35 years old and have been married to my DH Brian for 7 years even though we have been together for 12 years. My sister got me obsessed about Disney in 2004 (I had been numerous times as a kid and through high school grad nite) I have now got Brian obsessed with WDW as well. ;) On a trip to WDW in Feb of 2006 I overheard a conversation on the bus - the lady had run the 2006 marathon a few weeks before and for some reason I got intrigued. I tried to "get into" running after that and ran my first 5k race. Shortly after that I gave up. Then June 13 of 2007 I decided I had enough of being a couch potato and I got out there and started running again. Granted I don't run fast and I don't run the whole time but at least I am doing something. I found my way again to the WISH board and really appreciate the teamwork and compassion  on this board. Since June I have done 4 5k's and the TOT 13k and signed up for the Minnie 15k with plans of signing up for the 5k with my neice. And now I signed up for the full marathon in 2009. I am planning to sign up Brian and myself as a team for the Everest 5k and I am planning on doing this years TOT 13k. I also would like to squeeze a local half marathon in before the full. One thing I must say about my DH Brian is that he ALWAYS there for me at my races. He always has faith in me that I will be able to finish it (he knows I am determined) both at the race and during training.
So here's hoping the Donald Defiant Dashers will ROCK!!!

Hello fellow Dashers!! Let the games begin!
I don't know how to post a link, so I'm just pasting my bio from the other thread:
Here is my family in WDW last August - my husband Tom (43), Annika (9), Will (13), Hannah (15 now, 16 in a few weeks - yikes!), Ally (7) & me (43).
http://i188.photobucket.com/albums/z128/kgartner714/image25.jpg
We live in the Mt. Airy neighborhood of Philadelphia with our enormous Collie dog and three cats. I work in the school of my 3 younger children as the Director of Admissions. I really love my job - I helped found the school back when Hannah was just 2 years old. I have also just started a home-based travel business, Blue Sky Destinations, which is a wonderful new adventure for me.
My husband and I have been married for 20 years. We met when we were both just 18, and he truly is the love of my life! My kids are all amazing, and bless and challenge me each day.
I am so excited to be starting this new journey of running. I have always gotten away with taking my body for granted, and I am ready to begin to explore challenging myself in this way. I think that more than anything else, I love the idea of finally becoming an athlete. I am also excited that Tom has decided to do this with me. He doesn't Dis (at least not for now), but you will probably all get to know him anyway!

Wow! This is my first team competition on the WISH boards. Actually, my first team competition since High School. I am really looking forward to it. I will now attempt to give a brief bio.
I am about to turn 35, married and have 2 kids (14, 11). I work in retail so my hours are very sporatic. I have been training consistantly for almost 10 years now. I also started a thread here on WISH called "Dieting for Disney". When training, I do everything. Weights, abs, cardio. You name it. I try to make sure that I get a full body workout to maintain a healthy standard. Also, on that note, in the middle of last year, I had my knee scoped which has limited me on certain things but I refuse to let it stop me.
Oh well. That's all that I can think about for now. I just hope that I can help this team in any and every aspect. Let's get out there and do this thing!!!

Hey Triple-D's!
It's great to be part of the team! I'm really looking forward to getting to know everyone.
It's just a shame I don't have more intellectual property 'cause it would surely be protected around here.

Vic - I'm sorry to say that tomorrow is a rest day for me. A bad way to kick off the reporting period, I know.
Paul - I never got to say congrats on your great run in the full. Pretty amazing to PR on day 2. It was a real lift for me to see you on the turn around by WWOS.
Happy Training!

:rotfl2: Yeah, those other teams don't stand a chance in heck in a heated trademark battle! Actually, seems like Team 5 may be knowingly and willfully infringing on Paul's user name. We may need to issue a cease and desist letter due to the high likelihood of confusion...
So, Mike, have you ever thought about legally protecting "optimator" for any line of goods or services (but not beer, of course -- thats taken)? Maybe inventing a new line of running gear (in flourescent green) that gives people on your team an edge in competition? What about writing your memoirs, recapping your life as a running god? C'mon, you've got plenty of intellectual property just waiting to happen!

You know, even though the names might cause confusion, do you think dem bums are really in the same "class" of goods and services as our man Paul? Probabaly worth a cease and desist letter though, but lets make sure we get an accounting of all miles and hours they accumulate under the name so we can recover same to our team on behalf of Paul.
In that my practice is more geared to trade secret misappropriation investigations and litigation (with a little trademark and copyright as well), I'll try to find out information and weaknesses of the other teams. I am still considering filing a formal objection with the Presiding Panda on the issue of professionals being involved. I don't think paid Pilates and personal trainers should be allowed to count hours or miles they are being paid to do. As we get going, I'll see if any other teams want to join in my objection or at least file an amicus brief in support. ;)
Sorry about the shop talk. On with the game and let's kick some butt ( in a friendly manner of course ;) ).
Big Vic-What time is revelry tomorrow morning?

Ironz - The DW takes care of me in the evenings During the day I have nurse Earnhardt and nurse Dusty looking out after me. While I love their loyalty, having two 100 lbs labs laying on top me is not conducive to breathing. :lmao:
Erica - Thanks for taking up the slack. I won't down long.

Hellooooo DDDs. Just about on a pre-challenge walkabout. Thought I'd drop in for a little covert espionage. :cool2: (Apparently I'm not very good at it.)
Some friendly advice: You just go ahead and focus on Team 5, with your briefs and foundation garments and whatnot. It sounds like that will keep you all nice & busy, with your seats in your seats. Don't listen to that mean ole DI buddy of Vic's. Sleeping in is much better for your workout energy, much better. In fact, I hear that an extra-long nap can actually replace LRs in your training.....
On a more serious note: take care, Vic! We can't have a captain down so early in the game!
Oh, and Mike: Thanks for the info on Cleveland. The WISH contingency is another point in its favor! :thumbsup2

Thanks for the kind words. Don't worry. I'm an accountant, so I'll figure out some way to get their numbers to help ours. LOL.
We just need to find out what time zone the competition starts in, because I want to make sure my 6 miles tonight gets counted somewhere.
Mike - I was very suprised how long I "had it" on the full day. Goofy's 1 and 2 I was definitely in the BMZ by mile 10. I really wasn't hating life too bad until past 21 this year. You don't go into a Goofy expecting to PR either day, so the PR on the full was definitely nice.
Vic - we need you to be 100% healthy for us over the long haul. Want a speedy recovery, but not so speedy that we lose you for longer.
Has everyone checked in so far? So we need to send the drill instructor out to find any missing members?

Excellent point! Sorry, Paul, didn't mean any disrespect, lumping you in the same class with those wannabes.
Liz, yes you definitely made it a little too cool for Team Ohana, but at least they'll have that as a consolation prize, right. BTW, I was wondering (and I have no idea how to do any of this or what it entails, so feel free to tell me to go take a (long, long) hike), is there any way to put Donald in a WISH shirt or hat? Just a thought.
So, on a side note, anyone up for a friendly little wager on Sunday's happenings? Loser has to do the winner's miles for the week? Actually, you Patriots fans should thank me -- whichever team I root for tends to lose. uh-oh...um, go Teams 2 through 8!!!!!

Hi Everyone - My name is Katie and I'm happy to be part of this group :goodvibes: I am almost 30 :faint: :teeth: and I work at a local college as an assistant in Milwaukee, Wisconsin. I'm a college student so to say I stay busy is an understatement but I still spend too much of my free time on the couch. I bought a brand new Trek bike last spring guess where it still sits with the tags on it no less - YIKES that's embarrassing! Not this year it's going to be different. I'm training with my husband to run the Disney marathon in '09. I'm just starting out. I used to run but it's been a long time so I'm hoping to start out with the Couch to 5K and work myself up to a good base mileage over the summer. I hope to be an asset in any way I can to this team. My goal is to also lose weight as I do this with a "clean" eating approach. I'm looking forward to "meeting" all of you!

Hello everyone. I was just assigned as it were to Donald's Defiant Dashers so I guess I will introduce myself.
My name is Frank. I just turned 30 and am currently single. I live in Strongsville, OH which is a suburb of Cleveland. I was an active kid and played a lot of sports, but then college came. I had a job which had a mandatory 48 hour week while I was a full time student which didn't allow me any time to be active. I also lived with my grandma while I was in college meaning I also had grandma food every evening. After graduation I got a job in FL and moved to Clearwater. I decided it was time to get back in shape and started to lift weights and rollerblade. I always wanted to run but couldn't get beyond one mile.
Eventually a friend of mine decided he was going to do a 5K and I decided to join. Forcing myself up to 3 miles seemed impossible but once I crossed that line I was hooked.
I started eating MUCH better and running, biking, hiking, just about ever "ing" I could do to be active. I now consider myself in pretty good shape but strive to stay that way as I sail through my 4th decade of life.
Along with all of this was my love of Disney. I was lucky enough for my two years down in FL to have an annual pass and I went often.
Now, I am back in OH and do a lot of 5K/10K races. My goals for now are to get below 90:00 in a half marathon, get below 19:00 in a 5K, and then complete a full marathon in no particular time.
I also would like to attempt at least a sprint triathlon someday but need to get better at swimming and get a race-worth bike.
I am the Information Systems Coordinator at a Credit Union in Cleveland.
I think that is about it for me at the moment. I'll see you guys on the board.:cool1:
