We went to our fave local running store to check out the RaceReady stuff today (and get more BodyGlide!). They happened to have a men's singlet in medium, so I bought it for comparison to our current WISH shirts. Jeff graciously consented to being our sportswear model for the day...I did have to promise he could be Mr. January in the WISH team calendar ;)
He felt it ran pretty true to size. He generally wears a medium shirt and felt this medium was appropriate. I tried it on as well, arms are cut a little low, but they do have a different women's cut for the singlets. The fabric is very lightweight. Bill, to answer your question about the waffle weave...it's on the outside, the 'skin' side of the shirt has a flat weave. As Chester mentioned, the fabric does have the tendency to snag, but their website says it's pill resistant. I think it has a good brightness factor, not quite as fluorescent as our current shirts, but would still stand out well in a crowd.
Here's some indoor photos. I'm not sure how well our camera shows the true color so I put it next to our current shirt for comparison.

So did the raceready people say they can't do the v-necks in lime for women?

:rolleyes1 HOT JANUARY DUDE!!! :thumbsup2
Good color!!
I like the raceready gear!! Just can they get maybe an XXL for women, since the women's styles are cut smaller, or my :Pinkbounc :Pinkbounc just dont fit in the women's XL :rolleyes1 probably not, but I'll find a shirt that will fit, because I'm on the WISH TEAM!! :goodvibes
and that's a good thing!!
:worship: Thank you for all the extra leg work you are doing for the shirts!!!
I truly appreciate it!!

Thanks, Sandy. I think it's a Firefox problem. I reloaded the page in Safari and I could see them....
And I hope they can accommodate the girls, Sandy!

On the next photo, if you look at Jeff's right hip, you can get an idea of the difference in length. The current shirts are about 2 1/2 to 3 inches longer than the RaceReady shirt.

This last one is with our other camera, trying to get a better approximation of the colors.

I'm impressed with the RaceReady shirt so far. I think it has a good brightness factor (though nothing will beat our current shirts :sunny: ) and is very lightweight for these warm weather races and training. My only concern with the fabric is the snag factor. If anyone else wants to see RaceReady before we start deciding how we want to proceed, check out your local running store!

The old shirts look more yellow next to these lime ones....
I like the color of the new ones, though.
As Sandy said, thank you so much for investigating this!
And super modeling!

The owner said they could probably cut some of the vnecks in the lime fabric. They do have the XL in men's and the website mentions XXL. I'll get with the owner for more specifics if we decide to go with RaceReady.
Here's the sizing info from their website:

Ooh! If they said women's v-necks in lime, count me in, in, in!
I have a waffle-weave style coolmax shirt from some other company and it didn't pull (yet) (knock on wood).
I would love to have one. And DH will wear one, too!

Mel???
I'm sorry this might have been addressed elsewhere but are we doing only singlets or will there be t-shirts too? If singlets I might have to order a size up and wear it over a tighter t-shirt. My Mom is impressed that I will wear one of Disney white (basically)see thru shirts these days but I'm not sure I'm brave enough for a singlet alone yet  Course if I follow my DH's training plan I might just be ready for a lone singlet LOL Thanks for checking them out. I've been very interested in their shorts and just realized looking at their site that I somehow missed them at the Expo. UGH!
Jeff!!! Woohoo!!! Can I get my calender autographed? :lovestruc Thanks for being such a good sport and modeling for us :thumbsup2
Thanks Mel

We can do a combo of styles. I think we're currently looking at crew and vneck short-sleeved tshirts, as well as the singlet. They also make a long-sleeve but looks like we'd have to have some special cut to get the lime fabric.

again, I truly thank you, you have taken on a thankless job, and I certainly dont want to add to your work!!
The woman's size XL is a 12/14 which in my kingdom is more a medium!!
But they do have the XXL in men's so it will all work out -
and I'm sure we'll be ordering 4 shirts, my fdil and ds want one too!!
Its all good!!
Thank you truly!!

Mel - Which store did you guys go to? Fit 2 Run on University? I LOVE the new color it looks a lot like our bags and I think it is a little different than those people who decided to wear our color at the Marathon. It was so frustrating for me and Krista, everytime we saw someone come around the corner at the Boardwalk we thought it was one of you guys, but it was one of them!!! I know what you are saying about the snag factor, I have some running clothes that do that but I still love the material.
If we go with these I would like a singlet and a t shirt please. I would like the vneck if possible. Are we talking about just doing regular thsirts this time around too or not. Just wondering :confused3
Thank you so much for doing this!!! I can't wait to wear my new WISH stuff

For the northerners, just look at him outside with shorts and a tank on and not looking like he is going to freeze to death. :lmao: Just something to give you hope during these nice months of freezing weather.

Mel- Thank you so much for all of your hard work! I love the Race Ready shirts. The length is so much better. I am willing to take my chances on snagging. Does RaceReady think it will have any trouble putting our design on the shirts? If not, I say we should go with them.

It looks great (and your "model" is such a good sport!) I'd love to order that for my first WISH shirt! Actually, I'd order both the short-sleeve and the singlet, both in v-neck if I can.
I'm working on talking my sister into joining the WISH team, and when I told her all about The Shirts she asked about the fabric. She won't wear anything cotton to run in, so Mel you just may be helping me convince her to come along! :woohoo:
Thank you, thank you, thank you for coordinating this!!!

WISH Team calendars,
Just and FYI--The "other" shirts as I understand will still be offered and they do come in larger sizes. While they may be warmer/hot they too are made of wicking fabirc and also available in cotton for scream teamers and sweat shirts for the week after since the last 2 years we've sure needed sweatshirts and coats.

Thanks! I didn't realize that the original shirts were wicking fabric. I'm glad to hear about the Scream Team shirts too - my DS and DD are already excited about wearing them to cheer in. I guess they're Mini-Teamers! (I'd say Minnie-Teamers, but DS9 would NOT like that, lol!)

Mel & Jeff,
Thanks for checking on new gear, I always love new gear, LOL.
Count me in for a men's large crew tech shirt (not singlet), and a women's medium v-neck tech shirt for my running buddy Marcia.
Are there regular cotton shirts available also? I'm not sure what I was reading on everyone's posts.
If dryfit visors and hats are available let me know.

Mr. January? Oh, no, dear, I think I should be celebrated on every month :woohoo:
Every day, honey, every day.
Heather...I haven't gotten that far with the design questions yet. The owner has been corresponding through email, but I'm afraid he doesn't move as quickly as I'd like (doesn't he know we need to have this stuff together for Minnie/Flying Pig :confused3 ) I also need to try and reach Sunny (I sent her a PM) to be sure she's okay with all this since it's her design.
Angie...On A Shoestring had women's RaceReady stuff too, just no lime green. You could check out the stuff for sizing and fabric quality (I'd love to get another opinion!). They did have one more men's lime green singlet in large. I was so excited when I found the lime shirt, I didn't think to try on the women's sizes :guilty:
As Lily said, the classic WISH shirts will still be available for the folks that still want to order them. Alertshirt has been great and still has options that I haven't found with anyone else like the sweatshirts and plain cottons. They've also been very reasonably priced. Another concern with the tech shirts is cost...they're running about $22 printed, so maybe $26-$28 each once we add in shipping.

Mel--Any idea if RaceReady would make their Trail Shirt in the Lime green (and at least an XXL). This is more of a sleeve-less (as opposed to tank) and has a pocket on the back.
Here's a link to it on their website. http://raceready.com/men/3001.html
It would be great if this could be an option for us "full figured" men from the north who won't have a base tan come WDW marathon weekend or assistance getting the sunblock on in the morning.

Recent update from RaceReady:
They will do women's lime vnecks for us. The owner will work it into his next vneck batch which he says he'll likely cut in 2 to 3 weeks. He will also do the men's trail shirts though he'll be cutting those again next week. I'm not sure we can get an order together quickly enough to make either of those (maybe the vnecks) but both are options they're willing to do for us.
Turnaround time for stock items on printing is 2 weeks. So if we pick the regular crewnecks or singlets, we can have those pretty quickly.
I still haven't heard from eye2eye on their design proposal.
I think we're getting pretty close. What do y'all think?

I really wish I had time to make it to store by now but working in Tampa every day doesn't leave me much free time except on weekends. I trust your opinion and I'm so excited to have anything with WISH team on it, I'm easy!!
This is my opinion, the men's shirts I think you are cutting it very close, but the v-necks for those that are interested I think we could pull it off. The response has been huge. Can we just get as many orders as we can for a week or so and still do order for crewnecks or singlets, nextg and just not as quickly?
That's my idea!!

Shan...men's crewnecks (CoolTs on the website) are a stock item and always available. Bill had asked about the men's trail shirts (sleeveless with a pocket on back) which the owner can cut for us.
Angie...I may try to bop over to On a Shoestring again this weekend to try on the women's shirts for size. We have to have a minimum of 30 to order, no matter what mix of styles. I think it will partly depend on how many people want the men's trail shirts vs the regular men's crewneck.

Mel - It seems like most of the gals like the v-necks, myself included. 2-3 weeks isn't a ton of time, but I say we go for it as I'd like to have the shirt in time for the Minnie (and I need to allow a bit of extra shipping time for the shirt to make it across the border). While the price is a bit higher, I still think that is a good price for a tech shirt. It seems like if we wait we might not have the shirts in time for Minnie:confused3 .

**Mel** I hate to be a pain, but do you know if RaceReady would do the trail shirt in bigger sizes (XXL and bigger). I would like to get two, but based on their website, the largest that style comes in is an XL (43-45 per their charts). In addition, per their sizing charts, it looks like an XXL would probably be the equivelent of a regular XL (46-48). I would probably need at least the next size up per RaceReady's sizing.
Also, thank you for all your work on this.

Thanks, Darcey. I read through the posts so quickly I was afraid I missed something.
Mel, I'm interested in ordering 2 shirts from the RaceReady folks.
Thanks for checking into all of this. :goodvibes

I would be interested in ordering at least one shirt - most likely the singlet (that is the sleeveless one right?)

Hi and thanks for doing this:goodvibes
I'd like a woman's XL singlet and a woman's L singlet
and a men's m trail shirt. Thanks!

I'll post an official order thread shortly. I think we'll have enough to order the shirts, but wanted to be sure this is what everyone wants. I haven't heard back from eye2eye yet with their design proposal. Anyone want to wait for that or is everyone comfortable with RaceReady? With the way they're producing the shirts we are kinda time limited right now if we want to have them in time for Minnie.
Someone asked about another order later. I have no problem doing that maybe sometime in summer to be ready for next marathon weekend.
Someone else mentioned vneck singlet. The singlets are not vneck, more of a scoop neck. The vneck option is for the women's short sleeve only.
Sizes will only go up to XXL. They have the men's CoolT and singlet only available in that size.
We have a busy weekend but I'm going to try to get back to the running store and check out the women's shirts in terms of size. I'll take last year's Minnie shirt for comparison.
Any other questions anyone can think of? These will cost more than the classic shirt so I'd rather over think it before we order to make sure we get what we want.

Given the sizing, I'll have to wait until the next order to see where I am by then. I may have to just stick with the original shirt I already have.

Mel - thanks so much for doing all this!
Still interested in at least one ladies v-neck.
Just to clarify something in your last post...the men's CoolT is only available in XXL? Or did I miss read that?
Carrie - would also be interested in a couple of the regular T's when you get around to starting an order for those. For when we're out there cheering on others!
Thanks

Bill had asked if the trail shirt could be cut in XXL or larger sizes. According to the owner, the largest size is XXL and only the CoolT and singlet styles are available in XXL.
CoolT and singlet are also available in S, M, L and XL, but Chester feels they run a bit small. DH thought his medium was ok.

Mel I should definately be able to make it over to the store this weekend too, and taking the MINNIE shirt for comparison is a great idea. I also have singlets we wore for AT that I can compare with. I know you said you wouldn't mind having a second opinion and I don't mind having a reason to visit a running store :rolleyes1

Mel
Here is a comparison of a mens XL Race Ready singlet overlayed on a mens XL Goofy shirt. I don't know if the T's or trail shirts are cut the same as the singlets though.

Thanks Chester, that does help!
I tried on a large women's RaceReady v-neck today. It fit perfectly! I wear a medium to large in regular clothes, often buy the large because I generally don't like a tight fit. I took my Minnie shirt from last year (2007)...the RaceReady large is roughly equivalent to the Minnie large, but about an inch shorter. Kaley's medium Minnie shirt from the year before (2006 shirts were made by Champion) was equivalent to the RaceReady small.
Hope that helps!

Chester, thanks for that. Hmmm, I like my length just a bit. I kind of like to "hide" my tummy bulge.
Note taken about maybe getting a size just a bit bigger; or do the right thing and lose the weight.

Uh oh Diane, what did I miss? Is Coach Ray at it again? Just remind him that you can walk/run him into the ground!!

I would be interested in some sort of tech shirt for walking. I would definately want one for the wdw half 09. Probably a short sleeve, so depending on weather and such. I'm looking to lose some weight before then, so will hold off on ordering or size for now.

Sorry the order's already been placed for this round, but check the eye2eye shirt thread. Those haven't been finalized yet.
