I have been lurking for a while now and thought I would post a little about me. I am planning my first trip to Disney in Sept 2008. It will be me, mom, dd15 and dd7. None of us have ever been. Dh went about 20 years ago and has no desire to go back. Oh well his loss. I love to plan my trips and want to know every fun detail I can about where I am going. I have learned so much from this board.
We will be staying at Pop and I am hoping for the 50's lakeside. Is that preferred? I don't want to pay extra for preferred but would like the 50s or 60 buildings.
Dd will be 7 when we go. I know there will be extreme amounts of walking and would like to walk at my pace and not hers so where I can I find a good stroller to purchase for a child her size? I would like to bring one from home so I can have it all the time instead of just in the parks.
Thanks for all the valuable information each of you provide to us newbies each day.

well a lot has changed in 20 years... with room requests I have found that a big smile and being nice & polite at check in get you a long way toward a better location...
in the resorts board there is the Pop faq... one of those posts has a map of where is preferred and where is not...

and the thread itself is...

Hello and :welcome: from yet another Alabamian. I am in East Central Alabama on the Georgia line. :disrocks: and you wil find that you fit in sooner than you think. Plan, plan, and plan some more, is all I have to say. I don't think you can over plan for a disney trip, especially your first one. Your DH doens't know what he is missing. My DH is the first person that I went with, well my mom and then 7 year old cousin went with us and that was in 2005. I am working on my 6th trip since June 2005 and I plan fanitically each time.

the lake views at Pop are STANDARD.
the pool views at 60's, 50's are preferred, 70's is also preferred close to the food court.
would ask for a lake view at 50's - my favorite - you may like one at 60's or 80's

:welcome: to the Dis! I'm from just outside of Birmingham, on the Warrior River, in a community called Oak Grove. I'll also be at Pop in Sept., but we check in around the 26th. I'll be at POR in about 6 weeks though.
This will be my 4th year to be at WDW for my birthday in Sept. It's a great time to go, the weather is generally pleasant, (if we don't have a hurricane!) and the crowd levels are not too bad.

Well, unfortunately I am not an Auburn graduate/student, but I have always been a Die Hard Fan as is my Husband (a yankee). We are about 45 minutes from the main campus, so I am quite familiar with the area. It really is nice to see others from the same area though. I had wondered if maybe I was the only one.
We have changed from April 30 to May 3 to June 7-9 and to the Pop Century, for my birthday  another B-day at WDW. That makes turning 35 alot easier.

Hey, I have been on and off here for a couple of years. I've been to Disney World 4 times, my last this past march with my son's band trip for him to march in the Magic Kingdom afternoon parade with his High School Band. That was sooooo amazing. We are planning our first Disneyland trip for next year and a Blow out trip in 2 years for Disney World for when my son Graduates High School. Very Long trip with as much as we can do, before he goes to college. He LOVES Disney as much as I do. And that's saying something. I have been sick a lot and have been having to have a lot of surgeries due to endometriosis so the Disney trips gives me something to look forward too.
Not trying to be creepy but if anyone is in the Huntsville, Decatur area and has time to meet for lunch for time to time to talk Disney, It would be nice to do so. Most my family thinks I am nuts with Disney all the time.
So for now, HI,
Melissa

Hi Melissa. I've been through Hartselle and it's a pretty little town. I'm from just outside of Birmingham on the Warrior River. I work in Bessemer though.
If you're ever down my way, I would love to meet you for lunch. Most of my family and friends get that glazed look in their eyes when I start talking about WDW. Well, all except for my DD21, who's as Disney addicted as I am.

My hubby is from Haleyville and I lived there for 2 long years before we married and moved away. I wasn't a big fan, but that was probably because my parents moved me up there from Birmingham going into my junior year of high school in 1974. Not the best time to move a teenager that far away from her friends.

Hey
Also staying at pop in sept., there is tons of walking dd10 has to be caried at the end of the night, if you want a stroller and can bring you own from home i suggest it or buy a cheap 1 at walmart when you get there the in park cost can add up depending on the length of you stay. If you are driving, using your car at the park will save time and energy. Have Fun.
