Even the 60GB one only plays some PS2 games - it is well worth checking online if you are planning on buying a PS2 game to see if it will work. I find most of mine play ok except for the new Spyro game which won't load at all. I thought it was just me but if you google you will find that others have the same problem.

We got our replacement PS3 60gb on Friday and my son tried to play his PS2 Tiger Woods 2008 game on it yesterday.

At different points in the game the screen freezes though. The instructions say that it only plays SOME PS2 games. Does anyone else have this problem?

"Some" is just to cover their backs, as it should really say "most". We've played a few of my older PS2 games on my PS3 recently, all have worked fine.

Tiger Woods 08 should be a certainty to work, hope your replacement PS3 isn't playing up :goodvibes

Not every game plays from the PS2 stable. I presume he has tried cleaning the PS2 disk. I had a blu ray (Casino Royale, bought second hand), I was half way through that and it froze. I immediately thought I had been sold a dodgy disc but went off and cleaned it and it was fine.

I would have thought Tiger 08 would play fine. I do have a book upstairs when I have a chance I will have a look and see if it is on the compatible list. I presume on the official site such a list will be posted somewhere. I have played some old Crash games on it no problem.
