Are the no seeums biting at the AKL? Any suggestions on how to prevent getting bit?

Thanks for your help

OK-I give up. What's a no seeum? Is it just a high fluten :p way of saying people who didn't see animals or is it a new bug? (Please don't say bug, we'll be there in two weeks and I don't do bugs.)

I dont's know about the AKL but when we were at the AK by the dinos my daughter was complaing about getting bit by some kind of bug, and of course we didn't seeums. (haha) I don't know what they are but they are something. So we stopped at one of the carts and bought some OFF or something like that. I always thought people were just joking about the no seeums, but if you look on the back of some of these sprays, they will say for no seeums.

These little critters are BAD to the BONE! They bite through OFF and most all deet products. There was another thread devoted to this subject, and a poster wrote about a great deterrent. Go to www.avon.com for the SSS (Skin So Soft) bath oil! It is surrently on sale for $7.50 for a bottle. She said it was the MOST effective thing she has ever used, and kept the no-seeums and mosquitoes from biting. On the same page of this website, there are also some SSS bug repellents. I'm buying these too, as they actually list no-seeums as one of the insects they deter! Good luck, hope this helps. Enjoy AKL, and please pm me when you return with your opinion. We are planning a trip to this resort as well.;)

They're real alright. Just ask Barbruka- she practically had her leg gnawed off by them. Why.......she had to use the wheelchair access to everything because they bit her so bad!!!!!!!!!!!:D - she'll do anything to get to the front of the line!!!! Ya know.............sometimes those no seeums are a blessing in disguise!

sure barbruka........ try to shift the focus else where!!!!!:D
No really, if you can bring up that thread you'll see that those little no seeums are nasty and can really mess up your legs if your not protected. There's lots of good info on that thread.

We were there in mid-February and had no problems with the little bugs. I was prepared and had brought along my bug repellant, but never needed it. We were out in both the day time and night time, and no one was bit in our party of four. The weather was fairly cool, don't know if that makes a difference. Hopefully you won't have any problems when you go!

I don't like Avon's. OFF makes an outdoor spray, specifically for the outdoors in a greener can that works wonders! I also like their pump version.

No-seeums are basically a microscopic pair of flying teeth. Screened doors and porchs will not stop them. If you are going in the next few weeks it should be fine. I was at WDW Tuesday and while it wasn't a true freeze it was very cold. That will knock the bugs back for a little while. This being Florida though, they will be back.

I'm a Florida resident and Premium Annual Passport holder... go lots of times and no problem for me so far... I'm not saying it's not possible and down right irritating if they show up, but they are not common. I work outside in Miami, and there are lots.of neighborhoods on the coast near mangrove swamps where they are so thick you can ALMOST see them!!!!!!!!!! Most often a problem when the sun doesn't shine and the wind doesn't blow(morning, evening, night)...

Anyone being bitten just on the legs is not being attacked by noseeums, even if they didn't see what bit them.

Lots of critters out there want your blood, never had them spoil a good time for me yet a WDW... been there too many times for it to be just luck... not saying you won't get bit, it's just not likely to be a PROBLEM... do be careful on the highway please.

We were at WDW in October. We ended up with bites all over our legs, not painful but certainly irritating. We had never had this happen in 9 previous stays on property & several off. We asked the bell services CM about it as we were leaving & he said it was probably noseeums. We thought he was pulling our (very itchy)legs, but I guess he may have been right. We stayed at POR, but also walked all over the Boardwalk & watched the MK fireworks with our feet in the sand at the Poly Beach. If that's what did it, the view was worth putting up with the little buggers!

OK - I see a pattern forming! They seem to target those of us from WI! They get me every time and I must be allergic because the bites fill up with fluid and look like blisters. I am going armed with Avon SSS in April.
