View Full Version : Zela is more "seriouser" now and wants to keep a journal : )
I was kind of posting on an old journal until I was sure I was serious enough to start back doing a journal. Okay....some background info....l've been on these boards for quite some time with long periods of just lurking. I began my weight loss journey at 262 pounds. In January 2005 I began to walk and try to change my eating habits. By January 2007 I lost down to 152. I had to limit my diet excessively to stay at 152:eek: . I began to eat normal healthy foods and my weight has fluctuated between 160 and 165:woohoo: the whole year. I feel good at that weight. I weighed a few days and I had packed on a couple of pounds(2-4) since I came home from the marathon. I'd love to get back to my comfortable weight because my pants are all tight. I did a half marathon in March 2007 with a time of 2:59:59:woohoo: , walking and running. I signed up and trained for the Disney Marathon 2008. It took me 7 hours and 20 minutes to complete, walking with the occassional jog. I could have easily got swept. I want to either do the marathon or the goofy in 2009 at Disney. Not sure yet. I wanna do the marathon:wizard: for sure.....but seeing as how I almost got swept I don't know if I can improve my time enough over the course of this year to be able to do both the half and the full without getting swept. I have the will power, but I simply don't have the time to put in at the gym. Anywho........:dance3:
Goals (1-25-2006):
1. To not eat anything after I go to sleep :headache: (I sleepwalk into the kitchen and eat cereal, bagels, candy, etc. and it just has to stop.........any suggestions to prevent me from doing this would be helpful)
2. To get 12 cups of water a day
3. To eat my target points value of 22 pts everyday and save my flex points for the weekend
4. To eat one meal anything I want on the weekend:banana:
5. To eat at least 8 servings of fruits and veggies a day
6. To develop a new race goal to encourage me to exercise (I'm thinking about doing the half marathon in Pensacola, FL on February 17,2008 but I don't know if it is too soon to do after the marathon.:3dglasses )
I will add more goals/revise them as needed.
Posting may be somewhat sporadic due to me working and going to graduate school at night.

So.....I just signed up for the Goofy:scared1: It's gonna be fun to have one goal for the whole year. I'm gonna also throw some mini goals in their (local races). Yesterday's eating wasn't horrible. I had blueberries for breakfast along with fat free milk. I went with my Michael's family for his birthday lunch at olive garden. I had the parmesan crusted tilapia which appeared to be baked. It had a small amount of pasta to one side and also some squash and red bell pepper. I split the black tie mousse cake with him. On yeah and I forgot I also had 2 and a half breadsticks and some salad (an improvement from a 6 breadstick incident i had not too long ago:scared1: ). Later that afternoon I had about a half cup of neopolitan ice cream and a banana, some fat free popcorn and 2 pcs of cinnamon sugar toast. Not great eating....but not horrible either.
AND there is good news:
I slept the whole night and didn't wake up at all which means.......I DIDN'T EAT ANYTHING IN MY SLEEP:banana:  :cheer2: :cool2: :cheer2:
I got all of my waters but only about 4 servings fruits and veggies:confused3
Okay today:
My granddad's bday party is today there will be lots of desserts. The plan is to go by walmart and get a sugar free angel food cake, fresh strawberries, fresh bluberries, and cool whip free and bring it as an addition to the desserts table so I will have a healthy option. For regular food there will be shrimp creole and rice which I think will be a good healthy option. As far as supper goes I might eat some cherries and a lean gourmet frozen dinner.:hippie:

Welcome back, Z!
I am glad to see that I am not the only one who has come back a few times and is now making the commitment to stay and make time for journaling. It sure is great to see "old friends". BTW, your pictures look great! It is hard to believe that the picture at your heaviest and the recent pictures are the same person. You really deserve to be proud of all that you have accomplished.
One idea on the sleep walking eating is to put safety locks on the cabinets where the food is stored. You would only have to do this before going to bed. My guess is that you will not go to the trouble of undoing the locks when you are asleep.
Taking angel food cake and berries to the party is a great option and a much tastier one at that.
Have a great day!
I ate 1/2 c go lean crunch for my breakfast with 1c fat free milk and an apple. I ate an apple for snack. Then I went to my graddaddys bday party. I ate a small caesar salad (it probably didn't have light dressing). I had about 2 cups of shrimp creole , about 3 cups of strawberries and blueberries with cool whip free. I also had two miniscule peices of cake. I was just looking online and discovered that shrimp creole has 11......pts:scared1: ....per cup so I just blew up my diet and didn't even know it. I'll probably eat some cereal for supper. And I guess tomorrow is another day:yay:
I'm working overtime tomorrow so i don't know if i will get to the gym....maybe i can walk on my treadmill at home. I also have class tomorrow night. My plan is cereal and apple for breakfast, cheese and apples for snacks, lean gourmet for supper and possibly lean gourmet for lunch.
Anyone who wants to.....please pray for my Aunt's family and mine. My cousin died in a plane crash (a small plane he was rebuilding) last night.:sad2:

Sorry to hear about the loss in your family. My prayers are with you.:grouphug: :grouphug:
On another note, I think you did pretty well yesterday even with the shrimp creole. At least you know that it is only one day.::MickeyMo ::MickeyMo
Thanks for your prayers Lesli.:grouphug: I had another tragedy today. I work at the Mental Health Center. My coworker found one of our people in his apartment and he had hung himself. It was a hard day. He didn't even show any signs( of suicidal thoughts) while he was in our care:confused3 . It is so sad and confusing:confused: but that is what motivates me to do the best I can at the job I am in.
I started out the day finding out that my cousin had passed so I went to walmart and made sure I had lots of healthy snack foods because I am a stress eater
Breakfast:
go lean crunch with ff milk
Snacks throughout day:
bluberries, 2 pcs livactive cheese,1 yoplus yogurt, 1 apple, strawberries(2c)
These were unplanned snacks , bought after I found out that one of the people I worked with had passed:2 small pcs laffy taffy, 2 airheads, 2 hershey kisses
Lunch:
lean cuisine spinach and mushroom pizza,
Supper:
bowl of raisin bran with ff milk, nonfat white mocha
I think I did good today. I went over my points a little but considering the days events I am proud. I got up at 4ish this morning, worked from 7 to 530 and went to night class from 6 to 9.

Oh, Z!:grouphug: I am sorry to hear about your loss at work, but you are looking at this in a positive light by using it as motivation to do your job well.
I think you did amazing considering the day that you had. All of you food looks great other than the candy, but you were able to control it which is a big win! Grabbing some healthy foods was a great way to set your environment since you know how stress can affect your eating.
Hang in there, my thoughts are with you.::MickeyMo ::MickeyMo

I really just want to go buy some dill pickle chips and banana flips and call it a daypopcorn::
So....today is my cousin, Chris's funeral. He was Christian so I know he is going to heaven. Instead of referring to it as his funeral I will henceforth refer to it as his finish line celebration. He has kept the good fight and finished the race. There is no reason to mourn, only reason to be happy that he has made it to his perfect home.:)

Hi Zela! First, I wanted to say that your family is in my thoughts and prayers! Sounds like you have had a tough week with the lost of your cousin and the gentleman from your work. I have to say you did a great job with your eating despite the stress from those situations.
Second, all I have to say is WOW!! You have come a long way!! I agree that those pictures from the beginning to the end don't even look like the same person. That is amazing! Keep up the good work...you look GREAT!!!
Great job on the marathon this year! Wasn't it an awesome experience!! I never thought I would say running a marathon would be fun..but I was so sad when it was over!!
WTG for signing up for the Goofy!!! I really wanted to do it, but doesn't look like I will be able to afford a trip to WDW in 2009, so the Goofy will have to wait until 2010! I can't wait to follow your journey to the Goofy...you are going to do awesome.

Lesli54
02-02-2008, 09:42 AM
Yay!! Good job on the lost pound. As for the funnel cake treat, I think it is fine if that is what you want for your fun meal. We can't always deprive ourselves because that just leads to poor choices later on. So enjoy you treat!::MickeyMo ::MickeyMo

Hey Zela! Sorry to hear about the tough couple of days of dieting. You will be fine, we all have little stretches when it is harder. You can so do this..look at how far you have come!!
Keep up the good work!
:worship: Warm, gooey, fudgy, chocolatey goodness. That is what is sitting on my stove. I ate my whole bag of okra and then I wanted some dessert. I made my "no pudge" brand brownies and they were so good I ate three( I really knew better). Which only puts me 6 pts over my target for today. I'll just subtract it from my flex points. But I am seeing a pattern where I am not able to get in all my fruits and veggies every day. I eat better when I eat fruits and veggies all day. As far as exercise goes......yesterday I went for a 30 minute walk and today........nothing:mad: .....but tomorrow I will be shopping in a vigorous manner to raise my heart rate and count the shopping process as exercise. I need to find a red valentine's dress on sale for under 20 dollars:scared: .
Anyways....I need to stop this computer nonsense:surfweb:  and go to bed. I've got to vote in the morning.:thumbsup2

I went 9 pts over so i have 6 flex points left for the week. I didn't count my exercise yesterday but I did some serious cleaning yesterday morning and then went shopping all afternoon. I know I burned lots of calories;)
2-6
Breakfast:
4-high fiber cereal with ff milk
1-apple
1-cheese
2-6 captains wafers

2-1/4 c additional pork meat
2-1/4 c coleslaw

That's 28.5 pts .....So I usedbasically all of my flex points for the rest of the week.:guilty: I was gonna go to the gym today but i was so tired:mad: ....Anyway..I'm going to sleep now:upsidedow
So this is the short story of this week.....I went over my points almost all the day eating unplanned snacks. I also didn't get to the gym during the week........but I know I have increased my activity level . I went to weigh in this morning and was expecting the worst:sad2: but I lost 2.8 lbs:banana:   popcorn:: :cheer2: popcorn::    Yay!
Yesterday:

Exercise:

-things went well the first two times.....then i had to walk for 5 minutes then i did W2R3 again....then I had to limit it to W2R1W2 until I finished because my knee started to feel uncomfortable:scared:
 Okay so.....today my eating went horribly bad. Suffice it to say I spent 39 points today:scared1: . It all started with a free short stack of pancakes from IHOP and then for lunch it was 99cent 2 pc day at popeyes chicken....then there was the apple cobbler:headache:
But.....today was a xtrain day....I didn't do formal exercise but I can identify at least three 10 minute periods throughout the day when I was able to walk continually to get my heart rate........:yay:

Congrats on the 2.8 lbs lost!:cool1: Don't worry too much about the bad days, we all have them. With as healthy as you are on all your other days, one bad day isn't going to hurt much and does not define you. Keep up the great work!::MickeyMo ::MickeyMo
Let me see if I can make a comeback;) My internet is workng on my laptop now so I can take my computer to class and post all I want while my teacher thinks I am taking notes:hippie: !
This past week has been a whirlwind of PMS for me. Towards the end of last week I ate a whole pack of cream horns. The last couple of days I have been eating a lot of junk food like chocolate, icecream, donuts, etc. I know I can do this. Especially since I have to oppurtunity to post again.
Thursday:
I didn't get all of my water today
Breakfast
5 pts-smoothie with 1/2 banana, 2 c berries, 1/2 c yogurt, 1/2 c milk
6 pts-6inch sub with mustard and fruit cup
2 pts-popcorn
4 pts-100 grand
3 pts-1/3 sandwich
5 pts-lean pocket
Total-25 pts 2 pts over
Don't really remember what I had to eat yesterday....but it wasn't terribly bad. Today, I had a 6 point smoothie for late breakfast. I did a lot of yardwork. Then I made shrimp alfedo for my boyfriend, along with some cinnamon roll twists. I ate maybe 1/2 cup of the shrimp alfedo. I ate two of the cinnamon twists.....and I ate some of the bread that I bought to go with it. Don't really know how i did point wise.:confused3 However, I know I got in some good exercise today with the yardwork!:yay: Tomorrow I'm going to meet with my parents at Red Lobster........I will have to be on my guard against the cheese biscuits:upsidedow
SO....haven't posted in a few days, but I'm getting back on the wagon. Today I went one point over. I did tae boe this morning so I feel good about today.::cop:
So Today..
Smoothie 5pts
hershey with almonds 6 pts
shrimp with pasta lean cuisine 5 pts
shredded beef with lettuce and tomato 2pts
chicken 2 pts
chips 3 pts
potato 3 pts
lemon cake ?
I didn't do great .....but i did get exercise 4 days last week and I plan to get it four times this week. It's going to be a great week!:moped:
Today I ate
4-smoothie
1-rice cake
7-oysters
1.5-chips
3-fried chicken wings
2-milk
2-candy
4-large nonfat mocha
total 24.5
1.5 pts over. I didn't exercise today. Today, my boss bought me and mycoworkers lunch. We had seafood poboys. I threw away my bread and got somebody else's extra lettuce and tomato to make a salad. It is a small victory::yes:: but a victory nonetheless.
I wasn't sure of the candy pointage. I had about 4 piecs of dubble bubble gum, a mini packet of sweet tarts, one tiny jawbreaker, and 3 now and laters.
I really need to exercise, but I am going to be tired when I get home from class tonight. We aren't supposed to get out until 10.....but maybe we'll get out earlier.
I am getting a new "baby" this week. At the pet show this weekend, I am going to pick up a california king. They are really pretty with black and white rings. I am going to name it Arnold Snakesenegger:laughing:.
I did my cross training on Monday.......but...I didn't do any exercise on Tuesday or Wednesday. Today I did three miles:yay: around my neighborhood in 44 : 06. I was pleased:banana: . I am pumped today! I had a take home test due today and I finished it about 30 minutes ago. I have class at 6 tonight. It's going to be boring, so I might see what all I can find on the disboards to entertain me.
I came home today to spend father's day with my dad. We have had a fun day. I did four miles this morning (maybe.....I'll talk about it later). I ate a smoothie and a stawberry sugar wafer. At lunch I had:
about 7 shrimp (4 were scampied)
1/4 c rice
1/2 c corn (tasted like it had lots of butter)
1/2 c fresh schucked field peas
1 c watermelon
I successfully avoided the croissants, green bean casserole, and macaroni and cheese. Then came dessert. My little bro had a chocolate cake for his 8th birthday. I declined it (at first).
I did eat
a large peice of homemade baptist pound cake with mayo on it (most people think this is disgusting but most people in my family eat it this way)
When I got back to my parents house I ate a peice of the chocolate cake and I also ate some more strawberry sugar wafers. Then I proceeded to eat 4 mint patties (not york ones.....some kind of creamy infinitely better kind). Anyway....I just ate a peice of Salmon and I am hoping that will last me for a while.
:duck:
Today I ate some
strawberry pancakes, no bake cheesecake:scared1: , chicken wings, broccolli, rice cake, 3 rolls from Logan's, 2 cheesesticks, 2 potato skins, 1.5 chicken tenders, and a cherry diet coke
I know I ate a lot today!
I ran/walked two miles this afternoon in 29:34 so I don't feel terrible about my food choices today.
1. I went over my points today:confused3
I could have done without the:
8 mini chicken tenders
1/2 krispy kreme donut
2 small bites cupcake
14 gummi bears
14 m and m's
2. I got 10 glasses of water
3. I had 5 servings of fruits and vegetables
3 c lettuce
2 plums(counts as one)
2 plums(counts as one)
4. I had fried food today:
the 8 mini chicken tenders
Exercise
I did the warmup and mile one twice today from Lesli Samsone's Four Fast Miles DVD. One set of my consumers at day treatment came at 9:30 and the other set came at 10 and I did exercises both times when they arrived. I think it was about 40 minutes total.
Randomness
So....I am going to my sister's house tomorrow for the fourth of July. I get to see my neice and nephew.:woohoo: Michael is coming with me. We are gonna play games. On the menu we have : hamburgers, chicken breast, steak fries (for the oven), mac and cheese, ooey gooey butter cake, banana pudding, and tiramisu. My plan for tomorrow is to eat a chicken breast with lettuce and tomato, maybe some of the tiramisu(made with fat free sugar free pudding, fat free milk, cool whip free, and sugar free angel food cake) and fries. I'm going to try to do without the fries. Me and Michael are going to go to the beach on Sunday
I went to get the ingredients for banana pudding from Walmart today. I had a "When life give you lemons, make lemonade" moment. I walked in and was dealt a buggy that had stiff wheels....it took great effort to push. At first I though " This is aggravating...why did I have to get the crappy buggy".....then my thinking changed to " What a great oppurtunity to strength train". I walked around shopping in wal-mart and getting a workout at the same time.
At work today one of the people in day treatment had gas. They had to have been cracking them off all day long. There was a distinct poot smell that hung in a cloud over the day treatment room. Normally we clean the table and sweep at the end of the day, but today I had everyone spray air freshener.
I ate within in my points today
but I could have done without the
small amount of banana pudding
the 8 m & m's
the pork loin
I had 4 glasses of water today so far.....but I will get the rest before I go to bed.
I had 5 servings of fruits and veggies today
2c. lettuce and tomato
3c. watermelon
I had no fried foods:banana:
Me and Michael went to see my sister today. Michael had a migraine and my sister's children were playing/screaming most of the day. He was a trooper though;) . I got to see my parent for a little while today. While we were at home, my brother decided to take a bath outside while he was "cleaning" the kiddie pool and he proceeded to strip down naked. This wouldn't be a problems if he was 3 or 4 but he is 10 years old. It was funny........anyway I'm eating watermelon for supper tonight. I hope everyone had a fun fourth of July.
Just went to see Hancock with Michael and his family. They overused the word a double s in the movie. But all in all it was pretty good....a little more serious than I thought it would be....but good.:thumbsup2
Today:
1. I ate within my points range :cool1:
but could have done without
24 m&m's
3 mint patties
mint choc. chip ice cream
the short peice of bread at panera
2. I had 5 servings of fruits and veggies:hippie:
2 c watermelon
2 c lettuce
1 c miscellaneous veggies in a soup
3. I had 10 glasses of water:banana:
4. I had no fried foods:thumbsup2
Exercise:
I did 62 minutes on the treadmill (it added up to 3.63 miles). I did a cybex machine for about 5 minutes and did strength training for about 15 minutes. I went with Michael and his family to see Wall E today. I enjoyed it....Have any of ya'll seen it?:upsidedow
I am frustrated! I have been trying to lose just a few pounds and I can't. I have been exercising almost everydday (training for the goofy 09) but my appetite keeps going up and I eat way over my points:guilty: . I need some encouragement.
