View Full Version : Cricut owners - How many carts do you have?
PoohBearLovinMama

I think I need cricut cart anonymous! I have 17 carts. :scared1: :rotfl:
I sold my dust covered wishblade earlier this week and decided to get the Cricut Expression (b/c you know, I absolutely, postively *must* be able to cut out a 12" Cinderella or something :rolleyes1 ). My ACM is have a sale on their bundle in 2 weeks so that will come with 4 more carts. That would make 21 carts (where's a fainting smilie when you need it, lol)
Okay, so I am planning on selling one of those ACM bundle carts and when I sell my baby cricut one of my carts will go with it. But then you know, I'll turn right around and buy those 2 Pooh Bear carts. So again, 21 carts. :upsidedow I'm running out of room on my shelf.
Please tell me I'm not the only one? :rotfl2:

The ones I currently have are: Alphalicious, Animal Kingdom, Base Camp, Cutting Up, Dreams Come True, George, Happily Ever After, Mickey and Friends, Mickey Font, Opposites Attract, Paper Doll Dress Up, Printing Press, and Stamped. I will definitely be getting the Pooh carts! Those are a must have.

i have the baby bug and 10 carts. waiting for the free one.
my wish list consist of paper dolls (really bad), and the new pooh ones for sure. i also think i'd like the princess ones. i don't have them now, because i was not sure i'd use them with only having a boy, but i think i will the more i see them in use.
what's everyone's wish list? i like to see what other people are hoping for and which ones they have and what's their favorite.
oooohhhh and of course i'd love the BIG bug! but i'm not sure it's in the budget!

I have 2 machines and 17 carts. I have free use of BFF's Alphalicious, but I want to get it for myself someday. If we decide to go to Crystal Palace on our trip, then I'll want the Pooh shapes cart. I'd also like to get Joys of the Season to make Christmas cards for a few people this year. BFF has Christmas Cheer, so I can still make cards if JOTS doesn't happen for me. I'll have to take a good look at the sports cart when they release it. My girls play basketball and soccer, so I have to see if there's enough on the cart for just those two sports to justify it.

I have the expression and the 2 carts that came with it! That's all!
Do you have a fav that you use all the time?
PoohBearLovinMama
01-25-2008, 08:12 PM
Whew! I'm glad to see I'm not the only one! :teeth:
But you all bring up an interesting point, 2 machines. Humm, I never really thought about not selling my baby cricut. What made you all decide to keep the little one after getting the big one? I ask this with much trepidation b/c it wouldn't be all that hard to convince me to keep the little one.
Honestly right now there's not much on my wishlist except for the Expression and the Design Studio. Plus the Pooh bear ones. Maybe Cursive 101 too
Do you have a fav that you use all the time?
Not one favorite, but for font's I love Alphalicious, Opposites Attract and Printing 101
For shapes, Paper Dolls and Doodlecharms, Plus all the Disney ones.

Just the Pooh ones are on my wish list.
I still about 6 that in their plastic cases not ever used.
I seem to like both Mickey's, BaseCamp, Doodlecharms, & George the best so far.

If the one I get from the free rebate is not a duplicate, I will tie AWM. I currently have 26. But all of mine are out of the plastic and I have used them all at least once.
Oh, and I have Making the Grade on backorder. I forgot! That'll push me over the top.
And I still have a wishlist - Doodletype, the 2 Pooh ones - heck, who am I kidding - I really want them all.
Favorites: Alphalicious (hands down #1), Mickey Font, Opposites Attract, Plantin Schoolbook, All Mixed Up.
I kept my little bug when I got my big one because I don't want to deal with selling it, but I haven't used it since.

Now I have to ask..... I've been holding off on buying a Cricut because I decided I'd rather spend the $$ on a Wishblade. Why is the Cricut seeing more use than the Wishblade at your house?? What am I missing?? Please talk to me about this. Maybe I should stop "wishing" for a Wishblade and start planning for a Cricut!
FWIW, it seemed like a better idea to spend more up front on the Wishblade and get almost limitless fonts (with the TTF available on the internet), than to get a less expensive machine up front, but to have to continually spend $$ on new cartridges.

I'm not PBLM, but I'll chime in why I bought a Cricut over a Wishblade, because I too thought the same thing you did. I've clearly spent more on all my carts and machines (although I've never paid full price for any of them!) than I would have on the WB, but all the feedback on the WB said there was a significant learning curve, and I wanted something I could use right out of the box; and its not as simple as just cutting any TTF font, you have to do some work with the software before you're ready to cut and again, I didn't really want something that would require that much time and effort. The Cricut couldn't be easier. That was my thought process - I'd be interested to hear from some people who have both machines.

I've got both machines and ... 31 carts. *hides*
I had 29 until day before yesterday. My local HL got Stretch and the one in the next town over has ALL the new carts... but I just bought alphalicious there.
As for a wish list, I don't have much of one. I would like to get the Pooh carts and maybe the sports ones (one of my best friends is the gym teacher at our building).
I've got:
Alphalicious, animal kingdom, beyond birthdays, celebrations, christmas cheer, cuttin' up, doodlecharms, dreams come true, going places, happily ever after, jasmine, joys of the season, locker talk, mickey and friends, mickey font, mini monograms, my world, new arrival, paper doll dress up, paper pups, printing 101,speaking of fall, speaking of school, stretch your imagination, tags bags, teardrop, walk in my garden, zoobaloo, accent essentials, george, and plantin schoolbook.
*cough* I blame it on the cricut message board. They're such enablers.
If I could find them cheap enough I'd probably buy doodletype (it reminds me of plantin so it's not high on the list) and maybe my community or 50 states. I do like base camp but I never see it. It's not high on the list of desires atm. Other than that I think I'm out of wants.
Oops. I forgot to say my favorites. I use the Mickey ones most often-the font too! I used it today to cut vinyl letters to label cabinets in my classroom. My other favorite would be Cuttin' Up and Paper Dolls. Gosh. I can't choose. Every time I type one I think of another I like. I'll stop now. ;)

my community, my world, pooh, the second princess, joys of the season, sports (?? if there is cross country), base camp (maybe).

Do you have a fav that you use all the time?
George, I use that one most of all. I also like Jasmine.
Whew! I'm glad to see I'm not the only one! :teeth:

.
Space, or the lack there of. I have to Cricut on the stove or the floor in the kitchen. My dining table is always covered up, it's a dumping ground so the kitchen floor is the biggest space in the house to use the big E. So I don't break it out that often. Plus I take my cricut to Lisa's crop so I need the portability of it.

I have the Expression and 22 carts! My favorites are.... hmmmm... Alphalicious, Cuttin Up, Locker Talk (great for doing DD's school book), Joys of the Season. My wish list: Opposites Attract, Dreams Come True, Stretch Your Imagination, the new Pooh carts.... I sold my little Cricut to a friend of mine that was looking into getting one so I bought a few cartridges to add to my collection! :thumbsup2

Big Bug and 22 carts...I use it 4-5 times per week (at least). Favorites: Paper Dolls, Mickey Font (the only fat letter font right?), Stamped
Wish List: I don't really have one...maybe opposites attract, going places, locker talk. Not sure about the Pooh carts -- we are not big fans of Pooh, but I have a ton of photos from the past two trips. New sports carts, I'll need to see them first.
I just took the 5 carts I got for Christmas out of the box today. I haven't used 50 states, My World or Fab Finds yet.

Ok - I have the 2 Cricuts, big and little, and 9 carts. I am happy with them, so I have no need to get any others right now.... however, if any new ones were to catch my attention.....well, my free days on the ban could be put to good use!

Both bugs and (face turns red) 33 carts. I still want to get Paper Dolls and My Community. Not to mention Design Studio... but first I have to completely re-do my scrapbook room and move a computer in there, since my laptop is a mac and I can't use the software on that. :(
I can't say which cart I use most... I was sitting here thinking about it and I use them all so much. I would say I use Stamped probably the least and then Speaking of Winter (but only because it's a seasonal font). ALthough I absolutely LOVE Speaking of Winter.
I also have a Sticka that I used b.b. (before bug). It is a vinyl cutter but I always ran paper through it and it's hooked up to my computer. (It works just like a wishblade.) But like the wishblade it is much more time consuming to get your cuts exactly how you want them. I love my bug(s)!

I do want to get Joy of the Season and Stretch Your Imaginations.
BAMB, I just got My Community, I'll bring it next time.

I have both machines and 19 carts and Cricut Design Studio. I have all the carts I want that are out right now, I'm waiting for the 2 Pooh ones to come out. I'm also hoping for a sports one. I have ACM gift cards burning a hole in my pocket waiting for the new carts to come out. I LOVE MY CRICUT. :cool1:

Well, I want lots of carts, but only have 6 right now. The carts I have are: George, Base Camp, Animal Kingdom, Mickey & Friends, Mickey Font, and PaperDolls. I haven't used the PaperDolls one yet as I just haven't had the time to play with it. I'm hoping to get to it this week though!
I have lots on my wishlist: both princess carts (even though I only have a son), 50 States, Locker Talk, My Community, My World, Going Places, Doodle Charms, Printing Press, and I will definately be getting at least 1 of the Pooh cartridges and maybe the sports one, depends on what sports are on it. My son doesn't do the common sports so finding things for his sports pages are harder.

.............................P
For me, it is SO much easier using the cricut to cut something than the wishblade. I've got a nice selections of cricut fonts and actually having access to 1000's of fonts to choose from was much more of a pain than I thought. I would spend forever trying to figure out the perfect font to go with my LO and it was just too time consuming. And since I have 2 little girls running around, a Dh with his own business and so on, my sb time is limited. So I didn't want to spend anymore time than I really had too.
Cutting and welding fonts is actually pretty easy on the WB, but shapes are a different story. It was just impossible for me to figure out how to do that really. Plenty of people do it. But I would rather spend the time it would take me to figure it out and then actually making whatever shape- scrapbooking. That's really what it all came down to for me, would I rather figure out software or craft. And crafting won hands down for me. And the nail in the WB coffin was the Create N Cut software. I think it is just terrible, really. So confusing to work with.
What really made up my mind was figuring out that I used the WB 10 times in 2 years and the cricut 23 times in 9 mos. So that's why I use the cricut more. But if you're more computer literate (not too hard b/c I can basically do is turn it on and surf the net  ) and want to spend the time figuring everything out, then it would be a real $$$ saver.

So is the expression not as portable? I figured it was heavier (and bigger obviously) but I thought I could still carry it around when I went to crops.

I see people bring their Big E to crops. They almost all had them on top of a rolling cart. Seemed to fit just fine on it. And then one person carried theirs in.

I have the little bug and 12 carts, with one more on the way (the rebate one). I have George, Alphalicious, All Mixed Up, Stamped, Printing Press, Beyond Birthdays, Tags, Bags, Boxes and More, Animal Kingdom, Doodlecharms, Dreams Come True, Happily Ever After and Mickey and Friends. I also have the Design Studio.
On my wishlist is the new Pooh and Friends, Stretch Your Imagination and we'll see what else they are coming out with. I am also thinking about getting the Expression and selling my little bug but haven't completely made up my mind yet.

Well,
I have the little bug and only 4 carts. I would like some more of the fonts and the sports carts when they come out. I wish I could find a place to buy the carts with cash so DH won't know about it. If I use the credit card, I'd bbe busted.

Okay, I did finally open up the Expression I picked up when HL had their famous "exclusionless coupon". So, I have those two machines and the Cuttlebug.
As for carts, I have:
Accent Essentials
All Mixed Up
Alphalicious
Animal Kingdom
Base Camp
Christmas Cheer
Doodlecharms
George and Basic Shapes
Mickey and Friends
Mickey Font
Mini Monograms
New Arrival
Opposites Attract
Plantin SchoolBook
Tags, Bags, Boxes, and More
Tear Drop
Walk In My Garden
ZooBalloo
That's 18.
We'll see which two I get when that rebate comes in.
That will make 20.
I've got a couple in the package from Christmas. I can't decide which to keep: My World or Making the Grade. One's going back, so whichever one I keep will make 21. Any advice?
I love My World, use it often. I would recommend that one.

So me, being all defensive stutter, "Well, someone else has 31"
DH says he didn't know it was competition and did I really have to try to win?

Then he starts saying Thirteen Hundred and Fifty, over and over. Yup, that is about how much money I have invested in carts. I did get most of them under $50, but he likes to round up. :confused3 Yeah, I don't get manmath either.

2 machines plus one cuttlebug :scared1:
34 carts plus 1 free one on the way:rolleyes1
I am addicted and I can't stop
I blame my father for feeding my addiction
I would love to get strech and will wait for the new pooh ones to come out
I use them all. Love planting. And Disney ones also like cutting up
my name is jennifer and I need a 12 step cricut program

So is the expression not as portable? I figured it was heavier (and bigger obviously) but I thought I could still carry it around when I went to crops.
ETA: I'm so glad I'm a perfectly normal cricut cart collector. :lmao:
I bring my expression to crops. I would rather use the 12 x 12 mat and not have to cut down the paper. I really should think about selling the baby bug ( so I could buy more carts)

I guess I am doing good with only 9 carts but I want the Pooh picture one when it comes out. Of course I also have a craftrobo pro so i don't worry about font cartridges. By the way I actually had people from Provo Craft at my conference and they asked about the markers (which I have but hadn't tried to use) and they showed me how to use them.

St. Louis is only a hop (to OK), skip (to MO), and a jump (to the other side of MO) away!
I think it is like 10 or so hours up there. I had a co-worker that was from St. Louis and would drive home sometimes. It's quick once you get of Texas, it's the getting out of Texas that takes so long! ;)

tell me about it!!! DH and I drove 10 on the way home from Hawaii, we were in Texas for 2 very long days. Had an 18 wheeler drive us off the road and almost into an underpass near the Statue of Liberty replica. That was fun! NOT!
but we did get some really cool stuff at a market (tourist trap) in El Paso.

Yeash, that is a long lonely stretch of road from El Paso! My dad's family takes a trip to Santa Fe, NM every couple of years and we usually drive. Day one is all Texas, spend the night in Lubbock, day two... yep you guessed it, more Texas. Halfway through day 2 we finally reach the New Mexico border. It's nuts. Love my state, though.

Wow, I've never been to Texas. I didn't realize it was so big that it takes several days to get thru. Someday I'll have to get there.

I've never driven Texas, but Montana is horrible too. My parents are originally from WI/IL and we lived in WA. So we drove it many, many times to visit the family. The goal was to try and make it straight through, but it would never happen.
When I drove to FL with my Dad from WA when they moved, the trip wasn't bad, but the last day driving through Georgia...It seemed like that state went on forever! But by then we were pretty tired: 4 days of loading moving trucks and then 4 days of driving.
Po3 and Buffy, someone pm me with P03's town. I've probably been told before but am having a brain pouf.
Jennifer has lost 25 pounds, I can't imagine she needs to lose much more. She:thumbsup2 look fabulous.
I was good, didn't go anywhere yesterday, due to some sn*w. Worked on my WDW and for some reason:confused3 felt inclined to tidy up my ribbon and fiber basket. Thanks, Buffy.

I have the little bug and 11 carts. I like the little one - and the big one would be lovely but can't justify buying another for swaps which is what I generally use it for.
I have:
Both Mickey carts
Both Princess carts (and I have a boy!)
George
Christmas Cheer
Animal Kingdom
Zooballoo
Doodletype
Celebrations
Tags, Bags, etc
I use the mickey ones the most (duh - disney swapping), and I just bought the design studio on ebay for $52 INCLUDING shipping!!! Didn't get it yet but thinking I might like fonts more if I could weld them!
I have an old sizzix too which I love - I just got some cuttlebug embossing folders to use for photo mats and they are so cool. I use the sizzix for big tags, and slide mounts all the time!
Wish list will be pooh shapes then maybe font down the road, and sports when they come out. I itch occassionally for doodlecharms or accent essentials but won't pay that much for a non-disney cartridge. I stalk ebay when I want one and I got tags, bags for 15 bucks a while back - same for doodletype. The rest I got for about 30 each (except the disney ones).

I have the baby bug, and have 15 carts. Well, 15 plus my free one, Printing 101, but I haven't decided what to do with it yet, so it's still in the packaging. ;)
The ones I have are the 4 Disney carts (Mickey & Friends, Mickey Font, Happily Ever After, and Dreams Come True), Alphalicious, Fabulous Finds, Doodletype, George, Going Places, Jasmine, My World, Opposites Attract, Paper Dolls, Stamped, and 50 states (which I *had* to have, but haven't used one yet!)
The only one that's out now that I still want is Cursive 101. I'm sure I'll want the new ones that come out. I have no idea what's on it, but I'm sure I'll want the sports carts. Not sure about the Pooh cart, but then again, for a while I didn't think I needed the princess carts, and I've probably used them more often lately than the rest of my carts combined!

Well, I went from having no cricut and no cartridges to having the Cricut Expression and now (gulp) 16 cartridges in just about 2 weeks! ( I got the AC Moore Expression deal - so that accounts for 4 of the cartridges...)
I love it though! Paper Dolls is next on my list! (But I think I'm going to slow down on the buying for a little bit) :) Got a Disney vacation to save more for!

Ladies,
I do not have any of the machines ya'll have described in these posts but I'm facinated by the Cricut commercial. I actually flip through the channels looking for the commercial. I don't scrapbook. I'm not interested in scrapbooking (sorry, I know that's sacrilegious here LOL) so I was wondering if anyone uses their Cricut for "other" activities? My guess is that scrapbookers get the most use from it and therefore would be a waste of $$$ for me so I thought I'd ask the experts before deciding.
Thanks for your help!

The expression is being marketed to schools for use as diecuts and such for bulliten boards, it is also very useful to cardmakers- some cartridges have cards and envelopes.

Hi fellow scrappers!
I am Kelli and I am new to the scrapbook part of DIS. I mainly post and lurk on the budget board.
My mom and I are tool junkies. Between the two of us we have 6 die cutting machines! That includes the Cricut and Expressions. We have 26 carts I believe. We LOVE the Cricut and wouldn't know what to do without it!!

Yippee! :cool1: I can post now! I got my E last Friday and already have 5 carts. I also have about 10 more picked out that I want, and DH said I could order 2 of them next Friday when I get paid again! I am already addicted...this could be very bad.:rotfl:
I am happy to say that I have officially used it for something in a page layout already...nothing complicated, but at least I used it for something besides playing!:woohoo:

Well I bought mine cricut as a bundle black friday at Michaels. It came with George and my Mom gave me Mickey and Friends for XMas. So I am suffering with only 2 carts right now. We have NO extra money at all so no matter how much I want others, I can't buy any. Right now I'm hoping to buy a couple of sheets of Mickey skin tone paper because the colors I tried look bad.
Maybe Wednesday I'll have time to go to Mikes or ACM
