Thanks...it was inspired from a huge one on the cricut board, but mine was small...
There are lots of Cricut things in the swaps...if you check out past swap pics, you'll see paper piecings and other stuff.

wow wow wow!!!!!!!!!!! i'll also have to check out the cricut board.
i have some questions, how often are you replacing blades and mats?
thank you for the posts, im am amazed! :yay:
ddavis860

Blades, maybe 2-3 in the whole time I've used the bug...
mats...welllll.....I've tried a few things, like repositionable spray and blue tape, but you do go through mats....

Blades maybe once or twice a year... Mats are every few months. Washing them every so often with a mild dish soap and letting them hang dry really helps prolong the life of the mats. I use them for a pretty long time. I think I buy mats once or twice a year.
To see all the stuff I make with my bug, look at my blog, but here is the first Disney card I made with my bug some time ago...

I've had the Expression since August and have yet to change the blade. I use it nearly every time I scrap and all cards I make are done with the Cricut. Mats I go through every couple of months. It is such a fun machine and full of so many possibilities!

the blades depend on what kind of paper you use. If you cut more bazzill and other heavy card stock you will go through them faster. Mat's are tough to say. You have to use the whole space, not just the corners, it will make the mats last longer.
I wipe my mats down with baby wipes before I put it away for the day. It cleans off the lint and restores the stickiness to an extent. I also saw on the cricut boards where this one lady cut her discarded mats in half and made book covers. It was so cool!

I did the Mulan and Mushu --- thanks! I even cut out the squares with my cricut too. When you are doing a swap --- 15 squares x 6 people --- the cricut is really a time saver.

Yes I did. I think Mulan was cut at 5 inches and Mushu maybe 6? I have done Mushu smaller (5 inches) and it wasn't too bad. So if you have the baby bug these aren't too bad.
If you are a fan, you'll like these! I followed BAMBs directions for clipboards. DD used it in WDW for autographs last September and it was a big hit. She got so much attention! People frequently asked us where to get one. I made them for my boys too but I didn't use the cricut.

i also made my little man a clipboard, and you're right. everyone commented on it. we did the breakfast in norway and it was a big hit. and then we did dinner one night at the LTT and goofy actually signed the board itself because it had a big pic of goofy on it!
let me see if i can find a pic of it.....

hmmm maybe I am doing something wrong LOL. I got my cricut for x-mas and I already "killed a mat" or so I thought and I have only been using it maybe 2 1/2 weeks. I did use scrapper everytime and I used wipes maybe twice. I need to ramp this up it sounds like??:confused3 I am pretty sure I got the 40 or so cuts the ads say that you will get out of one mat hmmm...... those of you that say you rotate your mat... you really think this extends thier lifespan.... why do you think it does that.
BAMB any chance you have a link to the turning the old mat into somethign else.... I thought I'd just be able to throw it out.... nope such a hoarder when something has recycle potenial

My mat from the big one is wasted already. And I've not used more than 12 sheets of paper on it. :headache:
I've gone thru two blades. Have had my cricut since December 2006.
Mats on the other hand, I go thru often. If I don't have four in reserves I get a little nervous. Any time I have a 50% coupon, I buy a package of mats.
Hey Buffy, how about using the cut up mats for the little albums Beth gave us the instructions for? We said we would do those in February or March? Off to get a mat out of my trash box in the scrapbooking room...................
If I were to get a Cricut now, I would get the Expressions, only the little cricut was out when I got mine, but I do love its small size.

I've started just taping my paper to my mat. There is enough sticky to hold thin PP, but the Bazzill wants to dance, and I waste a lot. Especially, with detailed cuts. So I just use a little masking tape on the sides.
I think I am on my 4th blade since I got it in the fall, but I've been cutting Bling with it, and that tends to destroy the blade really quick.

I use Zig 2-way glue on my mats - rub it all over the mat, let it dry REALLY well, and it sticks good as new, and lasts about as long again. You can keep doing this over and over again. I have been using the same two mats for many months!!!
***disclaimer: Provo Craft claims this can void your warranty - IF you tell them about it. It's never done anything bad to my bug and lots of people on the Cricut MB do it and nobody has ever said they've had a problem.
here is what it looks like - look for the really fat one!

DisneyAmy, Your blog looks great! You have some really neat projects on there. I'm just getting mine up and running, so I'd love to have some visitors. I've got some of my recent Cricut projects posted there.
B&MB, Thanks for sharing that tip on the mats. I'll have to remember that for book covers instead of chipboard.
