I am looking at a date in May when both RPR and HRH have APH rates but PBH does not, any idea why this is and will PBH have an APH rate?
Claire ;)
When I booked my reservation for April 27th, all 3 showed APH availability. RPH @ $139; HRH @ $159; and PBH @ $169. Perhaps there are no more APH rooms left. I have noticed they only allow a certain amount. You should book one of the others and try to switch later. We choose HRH as we have stayed at both and liked this one best.

I booked a room back in Decemeber, due to the good exchange rate :) Since then have been checking every three days or so and now for about 10 days HRH and RPR have had an APH for all rooms types but nothing for PBH :confused3 Just wondered if PBH are not going to have APH rates for late May.

You can keep checking but don't count on it. We'll be staying at the HRH for a little 3 nt getaway next week. I wanted RPR but when I was booking a few weeks ago, there were only very high rates and no APH rates at all for RPR. I just rechecked now and there is only club level available for APH.
I don't mind really since APH-obstructed view at HRH is only $144 weeknts/$174 Fri. Still not too bad!

where does it show the rate for APH? Maybe there is none for July - the least expensive rate that comes up on the website is
$299 - we sure picked the wrong time to come! But with kids in high school, summer is about all the choice we have.

You need to go to universalorlando.com and click on hotels. Then, fill out the dates and hotel on the right and the prices will come up. Once they do, scroll ALL THE WAY TO THE BOTTOM and on the LEFT you will see "New Search". Click that. The only thing you'll have to add is "Promotion Code" to APH...that should bring up the AP rates.

Did all that and it says special code rate "available" but still lists the same highest price that I'm paying. Am I doing something wrong? I'm looking for the best rate for PBH for 7/18-7/20. Thanks for all your help!

I'm certainly no expert - taking our first Universal trips in March & again in May. But, I called and got annual pass rates of $139 weekday and $169 weekend in early May, but when I check using APH online like listed above, the rate is much higher at $220 & $233 for the same dates. So, based on my limited experience, I suggest calling instead of checking online.
Has anyone been able to pull up "real" annual pass rates online?

wow, that's a big difference in price. So I may just want to pay 1 annual pass and rebook at that rate - is that how that works?

I have but just cuz there's vacant rooms, doesn't mean they'll let them go at the APH rate. There's a limited #, same with AAA. It can't hurt to call though. I had to call to get the "obstructed view" APH rate.
Just got back tonight and had a view of US, MIB and Twister. (eh, and also a big section of roof below us when you look down...)

yes, it's so worth it. we have 4 AP's and they've paid for themselves on hotel discounts alone. they were having a special at Costco at the time, Buy 1 year and get the 2nd yr. free. that's when we jumped on it.
Be sure not to get the Power Pass, it doesn't give hotel discounts. read the fine print and it explains the perks of each one.

Could I just buy one annual pass and get the rest of the family regular passes? I'm trying to figure out which will be more economical - we only get to Florida once every 3 years so the pass itself won't pay off for us.

Yes - Only the person with the reservation needs to have the AP but I would check AAA rates as I have found that AAA rates are usually better than AP.
Good luck!

Yes AP rates haven't been worth it lately for discounts.

For our last 3 trips (Sept. Nov. and Jan/Feb.) AP rates were much lower than AAA. If you belong to Loew's First, you give up those benefits when you use APH and it was still worth it.
Just for the heck of it, I picked a random date at HRH, May 8-9. The APH rate is $159.00. The AAA rate thru AAA.com is $251.10. Reg. price is $279.
Maybe it's different for other times of the year but this has been similar for us for 3 visits. At almost $100 off per night, our APs have paid for themselves already.

This matches my findings for RPR at the same time period. Annual pass was much less than AAA.

Can someone check May 24-30th using all of the discounts? What discounts are available, by the way - I know of AAA and APH but are there any others?
I'm getting very high rates. I assume it's because of the holiday but I wanted to make sure I'm not doing something wrong.

Go with SuperSaver rate: $207/nite. APH comes up $233/nite...don't know AAA, you'd have to call for that... Oh, this is at RPR too...it's usually the most inexpensive of the 3 :thumbsup2
ETA: Just checked PBH, no APH available for your dates. Call for AAA rates/availability. Supersaver rate comes up at $239/nite.

Is this checking for APH (Annual Pass) rates online? If so, I recommend to others not to trust those. When I check May 8 online, RPR shows at $220, but when I called, it's $139. Big difference! It appears to me that you can't really check Annual Pass rates online as the "real" rates don't show up.

I called and no APH rates are available for a weekend in July. Is that because it's summer - I called through Loew's. Will calling direct give me the same info? I guess there aren't many discounts in the summer.

They only block a certain number of rooms for discounts...AAA, APH, etc.... They are either not available because they are selling rooms or sold out.
(If they aren't selling the rooms, they will offer the APH's discounts to book the rooms up....but, if they are selling, no need to offer discounts.)
You can try calling, you may get lucky, but expect the same answer. ;)
