How does the wine work?

Or more precisely, how do you pay for it? When a meal is included in the tour (I'm going on Viva Italia), is wine offered or available? Do you pay for it separately? Do you need to have cash on hand? How much?

Somehow I can't picture the restaurant being thrilled about taking all those different drink orders... but I thought it stated somewhere on the ABD website that alcohol wasn't included. Anyone who has been on the Italy trip or other European trips, please let me know how it was handled.

On some of our dinners on the Viva Italia tour, we ordered wine. The waitors
came afterwards with a separate bill for us to pay. They will have a wine list .
I think some of us shared a bottle and we all put in cash to the bill.

When we stayed at the Villa Belvadere , there was a wine tasting event for us . After the wine tasting, we had dinner in the wine cellar
so wine was on the table as part of meal.

The places where we had ordered wine were places ABD took us for dinner in Rome i think.
