Toronto? - Marriott Eaton Centre or Marriott Yorkville (Bloor)

Has anyone stayed at either of these 2 properties lately? My DH and I are coming to Toronto during March Break (our trip to see the Lion King in Dec. was too short!) and I was wondering if anyone can give me any info on these hotels. I've seen the Marriott Eaton Centre before, but I can't remember exactly where the Yorkville Marriott is. How far apart are they? Which property is better? Is the Yorkville a newer location? Anyone know how much parking is per day? Any info anyone has will be greatly appreciated. I have already made reservations at Marriott Eaton Centre (great teacher discount), but my DH seems to be interested in the Yorkville location.

By the way, Marriott has a great new promo for Rewards Members between March 14 - June 21 - stay 3 nights and get 2 weekend nights free! My DH is excited about this because it's 2 nights paid in Orlando for this year's vacation - as he said, "Now you can spend more money in Disney!" Just wanted to let people know.

I have stayed at the Marriot Eaton Centre a few times, the latest was last May. I have not stayed at the Yorkville Marriot so I can't comment on it but I would stay at the Eaton Centre one because I think it is closer to more things. Now if you like the shops in Yorkville (expensive) and art galleries etc. then stay up there. I'm not sure about how new the Yorkville one is. Parking is probably about $15 - $20 per day at either location. (Just a guess) You will have a great time at either one and you can always take the subway up or down to the other area.

The Marriott Yorkville is in the Hudson Bay Centre at Bloor and Yonge. It does not even look like a hotel from the outside. The inside may be different. The Eaton Centre is closer to the neater patrs of town and more to do IMO.

Yorkville and area has shops, downtown has better restaurants and nightlife.

In any case they are less then 2 miles apart.

I'd also say keep your reservation with Marriot Eaton Centre. The Yorkville Mariott is not actually IN Yorkville, but around the corner from it on Bloor Street. There is also a new condo being built right next to it so you may not get any peaceful mornings during your stay (not the the Eaton Centre are is quieter). You will probably find more to do near the Eaton Centre anyway, although shopping in and around Yorkville is nice, it is also very expensive.

I walk by both hotels every day (work near Yorkville - live near Eaton Centre!) but have never noticed the parking pricines. But as a general idea, the average daily parking is anywhere between $10 and $15, sometimes less on the weekend.
