Has anyone used a cell phone in Disney world? We have Rogers AT&T and was wondering if it works, and how it works.

I always have my cell phone with me in the parks. I am on Bell and it works fine. Two years ago the Rogers network(when it was cantel) didn't work so well. But I have since been told they have improved coverage area. Check anywhere they sell the phones and you can get a map of coverage area. Beware though that depending on the plan you are on everytime you are using your phone (incoming or outgoing calls) you will be billed airtime, long distance and a roaming fee. Also depending on plan sometimes your free minutes don't apply outside of Canada. Believe me I learned the hard way our first visit. Cell bill was 800.00. However if you have the right plan it ends up not being too costly.

I did call Rogers. They said that I would pay $.95 a minute roaming charges, plus long distance rates, plus my time. But they could not tell me what the long distance rate would be. They said it all depends on who the long distance carrier in Florida is, because that is who will charge the long distance rates. You think Rogers would have a clue as to who the carrier is in Florida, I certainly don't. Does anybody??????

I am with Rogers AT&T and I made some calls last July from WDW. Checked out my bills for you...& here is a sample call:

This is exactly what my bill says for one of my calls:

From AT&T wireless-Tampa-FL
Effective 07/14 Exchange Rate Applied to US Long Distance 1.00 US=1.5233 CDN
Call Type: G&P (which I checked on my bill to indicate: Roaming call placed outside Canada to within your home province - incurs federal & provincial sales tax)
Minutes: 2:00
Airtime Rate: .50
Net: 1.00
Long Distance Net: 1.53
Call Cost: 2.53

So a 2 minute call cost me 2.53 Canadian plus PST & GST.

I'm glad I looked it up beacause I didn't pay attention to my bill when I paid it & didn't even know how much my calls were costing me from there...now I know for this year that it's not that bad (at least I don't think so)

Hope this helps.

Thanks everyone for your replys. I think I have my answer. I called AT&T in the States to ask if they were the carrier in Orlando for Rogers AT&T and they said yes. They also could not give me rates, but called Rogers AT&T Canada and found someone who could give me the rates. Thanks again to all.

Hi we have two rodgers cell phones, daughter and mom and dad, we read on the flyer that comes with the phone, that two identical phones can call between each other and there is no charge. I am wondering if we can use these two phones to call one another while both of us are in wdw, one in the park the other at the hotel or whatever. I wonder if there is a charge for this?
