I am an AP newbie, so I am going to warn those of you who are considering purchasing AP's..... It is like having a LICENSE to go to WDW!!!! It has caused me to spend all my free time scheming and planning on how many trips I can wring out of a single AP!
I LOVE IT!

You are right. The only thing that makes an AP worse is owning DVC. Now, not only is the admission paid for, but so is the room. Did anyone say quick Memorial Day trip?

Hey tonilea! I'm in the same boat you are.
We had booked a March 2002 trip. We decided to surprise the kids with a Christmas trip because we got a great rate at AKL.
So...of course we are going in June, too!! My philosophy is that is saves us over $1200 to go again! ( Who's keeping count of the other few thousand we spend to go):p

Now you can begin to understand the Florida resident perks debate. Imagine living 1hr. 15 min. from WDW and having a season pass. We are WDW broke, but keep going. Any free day is a good excuse to go. Right now I'm trying to figure out how many trips we can get out of my husband's vacation days. Of course every long weekend we're there. Finally, wised up and got Disney Dining. Problem with that is, now we have a good excuse to go over there to eat more often. Also bought an RV last year. Camping is much cheaper. Another reason to go more often. lol I need a second job just to pay for my Disney addiction.:) I think I need some serious help! Glad to know I'm not the only one. lol

Yep... I'm right there with you guys. I live in Dallas and we are going a total of 4 times this year at about a week a pop! Plus we fly to save time/energy... Dan says next year Disney is off limits and we are thinking about a 2 1/2 week trip to Europe. Ahh, Maybe we can do Disneyland Paris???

Do you think it is something they put in the finger scan machine that is causing me to only be able to think about how often I can get there with this AP? I am glad I'm not alone! My DH says we will definitly NOT be renewing! It is way too expensive, with my wanting to go every 4 monthes. We'll see about that, a whole year without the Mouse seems like an awfully long time. I bet living in Florida just makes it worse.:D

Robin! Good to see another DFW metroplex person :)
My hubby said "Walt Disney World" was off limits this year too (we have been every year since 1997) so we are going on the Disney cruise instead ;)

We are proud owners of AP too!!! Love it! Love the option of going in and out of the parks and not worry that you haven't gotten your money's worth. When we purchase Hopper passes I feel like we have to stay all day to get our money's worth. I am such a cheap skate (hence on this board). I'm not calling the rest of you great people cheap skate's, just myself. Maybe I shouldn't say "Cheap skate" just frugal.
This will be our 4th time using our APs. I bought them last May. This year we are going down the last week they expire. Went on a quicky trip in January because of low airfares. Got All-star Movies for $50 a night with AP discount.
Hey DisneyKidd........ I'm from Fishkill and we are DVC members too! I Work in Hopewell Juntion (IBM). If you would like send me an Email..... Beth

You say "cheapskate" like it is a bad thing?:D Hey, If my miserly ways allow me to spend more time at WDW, you can call me whatever you like!

We live 2 hours from Disney and started 10 years ago with the 4 Season Salute Pass....at the time it was $89. Then we wanted to spend New Year's 1999/2000 (like idiots I must add!) so of course, naturally, we had to upgrade to an Annual Pass...but my DH sternly told me "just this year!" That was 3 AP's ago, and to top it off we got 100 extra days this year added on from the 100 year celebration! My DH has finally given in and looks for excuses to go. Just 2 weeks ago we decided at 10 in the morning to go to Epcot for dinner. Life just doesn't get any better than that!

DisneyCrazyMom -
They mustn't be putting anything in the finger scan making you want to return many, many times. I've just ordered my vouchers from our Disney Store yesterday and I'm already trying to figure out how many trips we can take.
I think it is some hypnotic thing behind the counter when you order the passes! LOL

Boy after reading all of the replies I know I am not the only one that is a Disney nut when it comes to AP!! We took our first daugther for her first b-day in Sept 00 and then we decided to go again in Jan. 01. That is when we first bought the pass and used it to stay at the Poly in concierge...we loved staying there so much that we extended our stay by 2 days (stayed regular room--because it is bigger) Well we couldn't let the AP be used only once--so we planned another trip for May--became DVC members and went in May 01. Unfortunately (for my disney desires) I was pregnant and due in Nov 01. We had wanted to go again for Abby's 2nd bday in Sept. We couldn't get another trip out of the passes. Our 2nd daughter was born in mid Nov and we actually were considering going down over Christmas (So glad we didn't--would have been too hard).
It actually was kindof nice when the AP expired because now I know it is too expensive to buy AP again until I know we can use it more than once or twice. We are going to wait till our 2nd daughter is a year old.
...so for all of you wondering how to stay away from disney--have more kids--well no that isn't it either because I still would go back sooner if my husband had more vacation!!

I love this thread!!!
I bought my DH an AP for his birthday and now we're on our third year of APs.
I think that I've created a monster, because now he's not happy unless we go ONCE A MONTH!!!
This year it's every month except August.
I'm glad we can stay cheap and share meals.....

I hate you all with those ap,s
My mother is visiting from chicago and she has every weekend booked.I am going into DISNEY withdrawl. Oh my god what can I do????
Living in Tampa makes it worse soooo close but soooo far away.Besides that my pass is expired and I have no time to get one.
Guilty as charged! :) This is my first year with an AP after being a TDS CM for 2 years, and I'm loving it! What do you mean I have a long weekend next month?!?! Lets see....admission is paid for, airfare is cheap (gotta love Spirit Airlines!) - why not? I'm working on my third trip just this year, and I know I'll be back at least once more before my AP exipres in August. I'm addicted!

Yeah, agreed! They do burn a hole in your pocket! 4 trips all the way from Maine last year! Normally we would have visited like once every 3 years!

What can I say? Guilty!
I am even thinking of sticking a few extra days onto a friends wedding to get one more fix on my AP which expires the end of April.
I probably won't renew it, but will buy another one later this year. I don't really like to go in the summer so I would rather just pay the extra amount later than the savings. We shall see.

I think the 100 day add on was for the Florida Seasonal passholders only.
The Disney Dining is a dining discount program, but you must be a Florida resident to qualify.

The 100 day add on was for Florida Annual Passes only (you couldn't get it for the seasonal) and it was only good for last fall/winter. You had to purchase the passes AND activate them ( show up at the gate) by December 30, 2001. We were there during Christmas week, and the lines to purchase tickets on Dec. 30 were tremendous! They wound up shutting the parks on New Years' Eve.
We have our own Annual Pass Problem. The temptation is too strong and the drive is doable for a weekend.......
