So excited for our first Disney Cruise on March 23rd! Yahoo! DF and I have not told his daughter yet and don't plan on it till we get on the ME from the SSR after Easter Brunch!

Anyone else on comin' aboard?:cool1:

We will be on board too!

I have a 6 year-old boy and a 3 year-old girl. My parents will be with us too!

Maybe we can meet up!

Where are you from? We are from Huntley,Illinois.

We are from Niles, IL. We have a 10 yr. old girl and we are so excited! Have you been on this cruise before?

We will be onboard too! This will be the first Disney cruise for our DD6, but DH and I were on the Magic for our honeymoon in ’99. DD is starting to countdown the days on her calendar and I have to confess I am as well!

It is nice to “meet” everyone. :goodvibes

I was on The Big Red Boat in the 80's and was in h.s. so I haven;t been on the Wonder or Magic.

What deck are you on?

My kids are soooo excited!

We are on Deck 2 mid-ship. DD6 has severe motion sickness in a car and I do not know how she will be on the ship so I aimed for low and center.

What deck will your family be on?

mickeydawn3

We are on deck 5 category 8!

We'll be on board too! Me,DH,and DD age 16. We sailed on the Wonder in 2004 and it was great! We've cruised on on RCCl nine times and they are grat but Disney is a cut above! We're from Canton,Oh.

esbrick
01-27-2008, 11:08 AM
OK, I know we are category 5 and I want to say we are on deck 7. Sooo great! I read about our room on that website where you can get feedback from other people who have stayed there previously! Got great reviews! I bought the Passporter for cruises at the beginning of the month and was told that we are going to get it the week before our trip so it will be good reading for the plane ride and our night at SSR the day before. Anyone else taking the ME from a resort that afternoon? We are still debating ME vs private car.

mickeydawn3
01-27-2008, 10:09 PM
Whats ME?

Were taking a bus from the resort to port cavernal, I know it picks us up at 12:30 fom our hotel. Were staying on the resort before the cruise.

We are renting a car after the cruise to drive to visit relatives near Tampa.

esbrick
01-28-2008, 09:20 AM
ME is Magical Express. If you are staying at the resorts you can be picked up from the resort, in our case Saratoga Springs Resort (SSR), and dropped at Port Canaveral. I have heard some pros and cons of either taking the ME or a private car so I am just weighing the possibilities.:)

Katie's Mom
01-28-2008, 04:49 PM
We are using ME as well. We are flying in the morning of the cruise and taking ME to the port. After the cruise we are taking ME to POR for two nights and are taking ME back to MCO.

I have taken ME on several WDW trips and have never had a problem. I do have two concerns with the plan. First, the weather could be an issue. My DH said any call for snow and we are hopping in the car on Saturday morning. The other transportation concern I have is the wait time once we are off the ship in getting to the resort, but from what others have said on the boards it should not be a problem.

mickeydawn3
01-29-2008, 03:57 PM
I didn;t know it was called that, were taking that too, I know it picks us up at our hotel at 12:30.

Anyone want to meet up on the cruise?

We are staying at the POR after the cruise for two days and had tried to get into Caribbean Beach Resort but it was full. I would love to hear all about it.

I think it would be fun to meet while on board.

I am getting so excited. I cannot wait for it to be here!

I worked it out over the weekend and we have 46 days until we leave for Orlando!:cool1: We are flying down on Friday eveing and staying at the Comfort Inn off property and then we are going to go to SSR EARLY so we can hope to get into the room area that we want!;) We are planning to take it easy on Saturday and then go Emeril's for dinner on Saturday night. DSD10 is a big food channel fan so we try and make an Emerils visit when we are in town. (I know, I know we are going to the dark side for one night! Don't flame me please!) Sunday am is mass at the CR and then breakfast at Chef Mickey's Buffett! So excited for that. Then one of us will take Meg to DTD for a bit while the other gets the stuff ready for the cruise! She still doesn't know we are going yet! :cheer2: We decided that Wednesday is going to be our Start the Disney Diet Day! DF and I are also giving up "the drink" for Lent. I guess if we are going dry for 40 days that we should try and watch what we eat as well.

Can't wait to meet up on board! :woohoo: pirate:

Kudos to you for giving up “the drink” for Lent. You are a braver sole than I, but I am giving up chocolate. However this did lead to some serious brownie consumption today!

Thanks for the kudos! I will definately need encouragement considering I work for a BEER COMPANY!!!:lmao: Had a few beers last night and made a few more promises that I'm sure at some point we will remember to do good to man kind and all! God help mankind! ;)

Brownies sound yummy! We have home made chocolate chip cookie dough in the fridge right now that DF and DSD have been dipping into since Monday! Yuuuummmm!

Good luck on the chocolate thing! If I weren't a diabetic I would be a chocoholic! My car usually has a full bag of m&ms that I keep so that if my blood sugar is starting to go low before I drive I can remedy the situation sooner rather then later!:wizard: Gotta love modern medicine and M&M's!

Is it time for vacation yet?

02-12-2008, 03:14 PM
Less than 6 weeks away for our cruise?

I have been looking for summer clothes for my kids and were almost ready!

I found the passporter on ebay so I'm ready to read that in my spare time!

Anyone with must have for our trip?
I thought of bringing empty water bottles so we can fill them up to carry them around, this idea is more for Disney Worrld.

I still want to find a shoe door organizer.

Magnets to decorate the door for the cruise.

Pack swimsuits for first day in carry-ons.

Pack sandtoys, actually since Easter is Sunday that will be their Easter Basket with Dsiney stuff.

DID I FORGET ANYTHING?

Hi Everyone,

My daughter (age 12) and I will be sailing away, and can't wait! We'll be on deck 7 and just wanted to say hi!

Mike

Wow - glad to find all of you. We are also first timers! Our party consists of myself, DD8 and our friends and their two kids (DD12 and DS8). We are on deck 7 - nav. veranda and they are on deck 8. We will be at BCV for five days before the cruise. We are getting a towncar/van to pick us up and transport us to the port. With six of us, it's just easier.

Mike - maybe the 12yr DD's can get together. She doesn't like "hanging" with the two 8yr olds.

We're doing the Blackbeards cay excursion in Nassau to handout with the stingrays and have a quiet beach day. When should we meet! I'm get excited and have purchased a pirate shirt for me and DD at the Disney store.

Hi everyone, I'm glad I found this thread...we (my DD & I) are also on this cruise & simply so excited!

This will be our second Disney cruise, but the first time on the Wonder. We cruise quite a bit but my DD decided that her 13th Birthday should be spent with Mickey & the gang...so we plan on celebrating on board! :cake: on the 25th...the big transition to becoming a teenager!

Looking forward to meeting you...we will be driving the day before & staying at the Radisson on the Port - anyone else staying there pre-cruise?

After the cruise 4 days in Orlando before we head back to Europe & reality...

Barbara & Daniela

Tinkbellfan
02-17-2008, 08:31 AM
Sounds like we are going to have alot "teenage" girls on our hands.

Mickeydawn - packing :scared1:. It's going to be a logistical nightmare. We spend four days in Naples, FL with my parents (dressy clothes), five days in the parks and then a four day cruise. :laundy: . The only thing I've thought about is my pirate night attire!

esbrick - I also looked at the reviews of the rooms - very helpful info. Deck 7 here we come!

I've never been on a cruise, where is a convenient spot to meet up - sail away party?

mickeydawn3
02-17-2008, 10:04 PM
We can try to meet up at the Sail Away Party! Anyone whos been on this cruise maybe can help us locate a meeting spot.

esbrick
02-18-2008, 11:40 AM
Can't wait to meet you all! :woohoo: I went shopping with Meg over the weekend and picked up some cute stuff for her! I just hope that in a month she doesn't grow out of it! She is 10 and going through a growth spurt right now. I recently donated 90% of her summer clothes from last year so I am starting slowly this year!

We already have some pirate stuff as we had a pirate b-day party last June and I kept some things. Everything is going into the Disney corner right now to send off!pirate:

You might want to pack a digital alarm clock and an extra powerstrip to plug things into. You can also use them at your resort for your trip! Definately plan on having a trip bag for Sunday am but I am thinking about Easter baskets. I think I may do an Easter Basket that am and then have another little somehting for when we get to the cruise. Another idea is to bring a white pillow case with a sharpie! I heard that if you bring them to the Customer Service office or something when you board they will have the characters sign it for you and deliver it back before you disembark! Cute idea!:wizard:

Since we are leaving on Friday evening for FL I am going to take the day off. Meg will be off from school so she and I will get the house ready and meet DF at the airport l8r. Thinking we will go to the city for lunch in the afternoon get mani / pedis and then go to the airport from there! It can't come soon enough! It is 16 degrees right now and that is the HIGH for today! Incredible!

I will look online if I can this afternoon and see if I can find out more info about the sail away party and where we can hook up!:cheer2: :cheer2: :cheer2:

mickeydawn3
02-18-2008, 10:55 PM
I saw somewhere that you can either drop off a pillow case or a t-shirt for the characters to sign. I have some old Disney shirts with a Disney logo but there colored, I might get signatures on those.

esbrick
02-19-2008, 02:09 PM
That sounds like a great idea!

I think that I have gone to bed the past few nights thinking about this cruise! So excited that it takes me a bit to fall asleep!:goodvibes

mickeydawn3
02-19-2008, 09:48 PM
I have a part of my closet with all stuff for our trip! I have a few more things to get! We try not to bring up the cruise with our kids because then the kids keep bugging us about when were going! 5 more weeks to go! We all have the flu so should all be healthy for our trip! I can;t wait to go to Disney!

esbrick
02-20-2008, 02:18 PM
Yukka! I had the flu last week and it was terrible. I am still getting tired earlier then usual but better every day!:thumbsup2

I can't believe it is officially 30 days until we leave for FL! So excited!:cool1: I tried looking to find a place for people to meet but i am sure we will get more information about the Sail Away party before hand so we can figure something out if everyone is game. It is going to be a GREAT trip!:cloud9:

I have a feeling all of us will hit the pool to get over the winter blues, colds, etc...so what if we meet up on Deck 8 like around Goofy's pool or Plut's dog house...the sail away party will be in this area anyway & just have something like a red ribbon around our wrist or something that others are unlikely to have so that we can pick out the group from the DISboard.

I'm also getting so excited, trying to plan the day before and days after in Orlando are really getting me in the vacation mood & it sure gives a spark after the busy year so far. Bu the cruise will be the high point!

esbrick
02-21-2008, 10:14 AM
Plutos is my vote since it looks like it is on the other side of where the parties are going to be. It may be a little easier to see each other. I vote for the Red ribbons on the right wrist. It is a very vibrant way to start the week!

I am going to see about geting out our summer clothes this weekend and start sorting them. My mom is coming in next week for a visit (going wedding dress shopping! Yippee!:bride: ) and then we have one weekend to pack and then I go to NY the weekend before we leave for FL for my B-day and the St. Patrick's Day festivities. :shamrock: Basically I need to figure out what we do and do not fit into from last year!:lmao:

OK thanks for the work break! Only 4 more weeks!

mickeydawn3
02-24-2008, 12:14 AM

I thought we could compare our Nassau day events. My group is going to Blackbeards Cay, beach and stingray swim. What, if anything, is everyone else planning for that day?

esbrick
02-29-2008, 11:33 AM
We are doing the Atlantis Beach Day for Nassau and then for Castaway Cay we are doing the Bananna Boat Ride and the Stingray Adventure. We went shopping this weekend and I finally got the over the door shoe holder! I have a running list that I keep with me so that I can just grab stuff when I see it.:) It is currently 36 degrees here and it snowed last night! DFH was totally Disney last night. He finally caught my fever! :cool1: It's addictive!

Looking forward to seeing everyone at Plutos:flower3:

mickeydawn3
03-01-2008, 09:15 PM
When were in Nassau I think my dh and I will take a taxi to check out the Altantis, we might bring my p's and the kids. We hope to come back to the ship and enjoy the pool when most are out and about!

I still need to find my over the door shoe organizer, I'm hoping the dollar store will have one!

Does anyone know how I preorder the water? I could call Disney and ask I guess!

 22 more days till the cruise!

ilove2cruise
03-01-2008, 10:44 PM
We are planning to take it easy...I have to unstress after the challanges of a new job...so in Nassau we plan on walking around to see what has changed since we were last there, buy pins for the pin collection and either head for the beach or to the pool on the ship like mickeydawn3

...on Castaway Cay pure R&R, water & sunshine! :beach:

Really looking forward to the cruise!

I believe that's the plan! I picked up my LGMHs this weekend from Home Depot too! I was soooo excited! I called DFH and told him and he just started lauging! Then he took one and we peeled it off the card (using a very hot hair dryer! ouch!) and he pasted it on the back of my license plate! Yep we've hit official excitement!

I didn't get my packing done like I wanted to this weekend. Just to busy but we are going to try bit by bit this week. I'm leaving for NYC on Friday eveing for my b-day/ St. Patrick's Day weekend with my parents so that will be fun!

We are so excited to be going on our first Disney Cruise to the Bahamas during spring break. My hubby and I and my two sons ages 10 and 17 cannot wait! We're from South Carolina, so if there are any other South Carolinians going, please let us know! If anyone out there has any advice, please let me know! I have one question, is it required for gentlemen to wear a suit or jacket to dinner? Also I heard there is a pirate themed night, is that true and should we bring anything for that? Sorry, as I said this is my first cruise and I'm not sure what to be prepared for.

It was great to hear from both of you! I am so looking forward to this cruise. mlsl, we are from Greenville, what part of SC are you from. It's great to know there's someone else from SC on the cruise! esbrick, thanks so much for the red ribbon info, I've been reading about it on this disboard and it sounds like a great idea. Thanks for the invitation, I'll be sure to get some red ribbons and I look forward to meeting you and your family! We are driving down and staying at the Raddison overnight and then taking the 10:00 shuttle to the ship (advised by a friend who has been on the disney cruise 5 times!). My friends said that it's best to get there early so you are one of the first families on board the ship and that there was alot to see and do while you are waiting. When we board, should we go to the Pluto deck? I know our room won't be ready or have the luggage until later that afternoon, so I'm trying to figure out what the first this is that we should do. Any advise??? Thanks again and I hope to meet both of you on the cruise!

We leave a week from tomorrow & I'm already excited! It will be fun to meet you all with our red ribbons...my DD (age 12 - turning 13 onboard) wants to leave the ribbon thing to me as she feels the kids/teenagers won't 'play' along...too embarasing!

Don't forget to pack your bathingsuits in the carryons to enjoy the pool as soon as we get on board...sometimes it takes longer to get the checked bags in the room.

I figured that I would leave the Red ribbons to myself and my DFH. DD10 more then likely going to be running around she's like me. . . not very shy!:goodvibes I can't believe that we leave next Friday evening! We are actually staying at the Raddison in Celebration on Friday night cause we get in at around 11pm and i didn't want to waste our DVC points for a sleep. ;) We are going to SSR then at the crack of dawn the next day to check in and so DFH can play golf at 7:50 am.

DD10 still has no idea we are going on the cruise! Can't wait to see her face when we bring her to the DCL bus!

Looking so forward to making new friends!:yay:

I was there and didn;t meet anyone from the boards, but I meant lots of people from IL during the safety drill!

The cruise was good but my kids didn;t do too well, they wouldn;t go to the kid activities by themselves, UGH! They were SUPER cranky!

I didn't get to meet anyone from disboards either but my family and I had a fantastic time and we're doing it again in July 2009 on the Magic! I met some people from Newberry, SC and Beaufort, SC, North Carolina and Oregon. I wish I could have met all of you but I hope you had a great time. MickeyDawn, so sorry about the kids. I was the opposite, my 10 yr. old wanted to do everything on his own but I was a little paranoid about that and made sure he checked in if he was going from one place to another. I didn't see much of my 17 yr. old, he hung out with the teens most of the cruise and had a great time! Hope to hear from everyone about their cruise! Looking forward to July 2009!:cheer2: :wizard: :thumbsup2
