View Full Version : Goofy 2008 Results - Sorted by Combined Finish Time

Good morning...
I spent a few minutes this morning figuring out exactly where I placed among the 2715 Goofy finishers this year. Disney posted the results via PDF on the results site, but it doesn't show your total Goofy time or how you stacked up against all other Goofy competitors.
I converted the PDF to an Excel file, threw in some formulas to convert h:m:s to minutes, added the minutes from the half and full together to get a total Goofy time and then ranked the entire list. The times may be just a few seconds off due to complex conversion formulas (I did the best I could) but are pretty accurate :)
Soooo....anyone wanna know where they placed?? You can either request on this thread and I'll keep a running list here on the first page OR you can PM me and I'll gladly e-mail you the entire spreadsheet. All I need is your bib number or full name :)
Here is how we did:

As I look over our results... :worship: :worship: :worship:
.... I notice that over 90% of the folks that entered the Goofy finished it, compared to about 70% of the half and full.....
In any case, congrats to everyone.... I can't believe I'm probably going to do it again... I'm tired just thinking about it...

You definately ALL get my praise and :worship:
but... please remember compared to about 70% of the half and full.....
I DID TOO FINISH!! (<pout pout>) JUst because Disney pulled the chip timer - I didnt get swept, and I did start in WAVE 3 - I FINISHED. I got my Medal!! (sticking tongue out at Disney, not that it makes me a sore loser or anything... :rolleyes1 )
carry on...

I am not going to be discouraged that Howard only trained for a couple weeks and had basically the same time as me. I can only imagine what the man could do if he actually came to the race fully trained. :scared1:

Cecilia: I am truly flattered by your comment about my performance sans a true and well developed training plan. Unfortunately due to grad school the past two years, training has been impossible leading up to the past two Goofy's. I could literally only fit in 3 to 4 weeks of running every couple of days.
This will not be the case for Goofy (Pluto?) 2009! I finish school in May and will jump into a training program for the Marine Corps Marathon and Philadelphia Marathon. That should bring me close to the fitness stage I'll need to be in to complete my training for a competitive Goofy. I hope to run a fun 5K with my DS (15) and friend's Kevin (KZMarathon) and his DS (Kyle). Then a quick paced but relaxed Half with Kevin. Then we have decided to run the Marathon on our own to be able to chase our dreams of PR's at Disney.
I hope to drop the overall Goofy time considerably (God willing and my being able to stay injury free - of course).
Thanks again for the compliment. It was great seeing you in the corrals. It was a pleasure to meet you.

Cecilia- I get a little freaked out when I see Howard's time beat me!;) I'm thinking maybe some shall I say, reduced, training would work better for me so I could be certain of being nice and fresh at the start...:rolleyes1 Really, I'm very impressed by Howard!
You forgot to mention that you were herding your little injured chicks for at least the first 14 miles or so (I remember because I was one of them). Surely the time you spent cajoling, encouraging, and dancing made you a little slower than you are truly capable of... And I saw you at Epcot looking positively peppy hours after the full, when I was still using Harry's stroller as a walker!
