You can book the sunrise safari at AKL at 180 days out, like most other reservations. However, it can only be booked through the itinerary planning office at AKL, so you will have to contact them to set it up. It is only done on Sunday and Thursday mornings. This is the reason we booked an club level studio for our trip in June - 5 nights Club studio AKV and 5 nights OKW 1 bedroom. Haven't booked the weekend yet.

Here's some current information about the safaris from IPO (which TiggerMan2007 was kind enough to share): http://www.disboards.com/showpost.php?p=22561274&postcount=20

I called last week.....
... and you can book more than 90 days out but it is posted at the 90th day.
You will be placed on a list in the computer. At the 90 day, the list, in order of calling, is populated for the tour. ;)

We did the Sunrise Safari in June 05, and loved it. You're in the truck about one hour. Lots of time to stop, look, and take pictures. The only down side in my opinion is the breakfast starts at the same time the park opens. So if you want to get moving on your park touring you are already behind the eight ball.

But you do get a fast pass to go back to do the safari ride like everyone else sees it right after breakfast. The hang up now is if you want to do EE rollercoaster right at park opening- you won't be able to.

It's actually booked at 180 days out. We already booked ours and have a confirmation # for July. They took my info. before the 180 day mark and then called me on the 180th day with my confirmation #.(Not trying to be a know-it-all, just trying to clarify!;) )

We did it a few years ago & it was fantastic. They actually stop for you to take pictures. It was the most amazing safari we've had there. The guides were so knowledgeable & came to breakfast w/ us. The breakfast was a buffet at Tusker House. We relaxed & enjoyed the meal and the extra time w/ the guides.

As DVC members, we always know we'll be back, so no reason to go commando after such a beautiful experience. We actually went out & enjoyed some music & went shopping while our breakfast digested.

I'd go to EE afterwards for FP & go enjoy other things.

Whatever you do.....good luck getting it & enjoying it.

This has been very informational; thank you all! We have yet decided if we want to do this yet. Does anyone know the cost off-hand?

Never mind....just realized this is for concierge level only...
